I felt very underwhelmed again from these changes. As others have said they don’t really change anything, buffing the 1 viable build in pvp/wvw and in pve we’re still only there to stack might and banners (which is beyond boring to play).
I’m not sure if its just me, but I always felt that warrior should be something that hits hard and has medium survivability. Whereas it seems anet’s idea is pure support.
Condi builds might be interesting although without the PS we’ll be quickly replaced by higher dps.
Personally I feel as though the warrior has been left alone for the past couple of years and its really starting to show compared to the other classes. Resting all my hope on the specialization to bring the warrior into something new and exciting … i hope.
Test theory 2! was everyone in the last beta?
Perhaps its cause we did the gw1 10th anniversary quests? I did, did anyone else do them and get the chest?
I just got one also. Thanks =D
Incoming personal 2 cents
PvE:
- Great buffs to phalanx strength builds. 6,6,0,6,0 gs camping looks like like a healthy dps increase.
- Rampage being a physical skill with the new physical training trait: +150% dmg looks … good lol. Perhaps it will work its way into phalanx builds, 150% dmg + 25 might stacks with stun on auto attack.
- The changes for condition damage traits looks very interesting and opens up several options for weapon choices and styles. You can chose to go down the sword route or interrupts to apply condi.
PvP :
- Shoutbow looks a bit crazy … if running 0,0,6,6,6
– gaining spiked armor in defense line + endure pain
– warhorn + shrug it off + …
– Inspiring Presence which in team fights is a HUGE healing increase.
(think of stronghold with all those npc’s around)
– ANNNND another shout with healing surge.
– In the discipline line you can also take warriors sprint now because the adrenaline gain is moved to the shout trait. So you can also leap out of immobilize now.
– You can also now take healing banners, which if also affected by Inspiring Presence is another HUGE healing buff.
… As much as i love warrior this seems to be a bit silly.
Overall
Pro: buuffs … buffs everywhere …
Con: No mention of adrenaline decay being looked at. F2 burst skill? Specialization reveal next week pls
Special request: Since healing surge is going to be a shout, please change the name to something awesome. Perhaps “Never Give Up” or “Never Surrender”, characters shouting “healing surge” is just goofy.

Here’s my super mini review.
I’ll get the bad parts out of the way first.
- Mastery UI is awful, I’m thinking its just a working version though.
- Skill 3 on hammer (rev) feels a bit off. It felt as though it was taking the attention away from the fight and focusing on an animation.
- Wyvern fight was reaaaaaalllllllllly easy, like waaaay too easy.
- The vine burning adventure was something i’ll do once and never think about again.
- Cele armor, ew
Now the good.
Revenant:
- The animations and armor are stunning.
- The skills are very interesting and the amount of utility and choices you have to play around with is great.
Area:
- Again, stunning. I may have been a bit afk on one the fights just looking around. Can’t wait to explore it all.
Gliding:
- To me it felt fine, the delay after you jump isnt terrible. Though some glider skins would be a nice feature.
Extra comments:
“Drop the Hammer” Vs. “Backbreaker”.
So revenent gets a 1200 range, 2 second KD with 15sec recharge that hits 5 targets while Warriors get a single melee target 2 second KD with 30sec recharge … seems legit.
Doing Silverwastes in 1st person is amazing!
ps: patched fine =p
What weapon you DONT-WANT? (Specialization)
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

For warrior, dont want: pistol, scepter, focus or shortbow.
I reaaaaaaaalllllllllly hope its spear! … like really …
If it is torch … dual wield pls! =p
The reason I feel that an expansion is needed is because the living story hasn’t been able to deliver the common features that people are asking for.
If you review recent changes you will find it has, in fact, been able to deliver features that people asked for. I think what you mean is “it hasn’t delivered features that a handful of very vocal individuals have been fruitlessly demanding for years.”
I’m talking in regards to new weapons, skills, dungeons, PvP modes etc. But yes ofc, it has delivered some features like the new maps and fractals (both of which i love btw!). Though (to me) it hasn’t been such a huge amount of content that i would want them to carry on with the content development in its current form.
Just to begin with … +1 for expansion pls
The reason I feel that an expansion is needed is because the living story hasn’t been able to deliver the common features that people are asking for.
While the living story does move the story forward (at what feels like a snails pace, imo ofc) it lacks the other features of an expansion.
Having story content spread out so far makes it impossible to stay interested in. This for me is emphasized in the recent smaller episodes. Personally (<— key word there!) I would much rather have an epic large release of new story that i can experience with new weapons and skills which we can dive into and get immersed.
I almost feel like the rest of the game (classes, weapons, skills, dungeons, pvp, wvw … etc blah blah) has been largely ignored to focus on living story and i (again personally!) think that its time for an expansion.
In a perfect world the LS would lead to an expansion announcement, though unfortunately, i doubt it will. I’d LOVE to be proven wrong though! pretty pls Anet
As a person that would grind AP points daily, the new system is soooo much better. It’s so much faster and the rewards look promising. It’s odd that everyone is mentioning a lack of freedom, though in my case (the minority i would imagine) its given me so much more freedom.
Perhaps adding 1 more choice to each category would allow a bit more freedom to some. Although to be honest … all the dailies so far are ridiculously easy and can be done in like 20min.
Now can we get a remade celestial amulet and an expansion? #offtopic
I’m thinking its a bug also.
Could we pretty please do it with parties again. It was kinda fun =)
I’m wondering if this is gonna be fixed with the next LS update!
What a joke, its been a week and no answer and no fix for such a vital part of the game. So much for all that communication …
eye’s fall out
How has this not been fixed yet?!? and how did nobody notice it in QA!!!
I just don’t get it, it’s really a huge step backwards.
They implemented the ability to restart the encounters in the last stories and everyone was very vocal about how much they loved it. Then next update comes around … poof, forgotten.
I mean the cutscenes are great … the first 5 times -_-
Furthermore, everyone has been saying for years that they HATE1 hit mechanics. The answer must clearly be that its cause they were too easy to see! lets put it all in greyscale so nobody even has a chance of seeing them!
Again, great idea sarcasm
It’s like 1 great awesome amazing uber cool update, then the rest are just back to the same old stuff.
Yup, they do LOVE that RNG -_-
Going to do the boss again, not cause its fun or cause i want to … cause RNG =D
Amazing update!
The new area is great fun and makes you feel like there’s a real battle going on.
The story and the lore brings me back to gw1 and is just perfectly done.
The new orbs to restart the achievements is a GREAT addition
and most importantly … its realllly fun
… Yeah, cant think of anything that i don’t like about the update and i cant wait till the next one!!!! Good job Anet, keep it up =)
Just got this also trying to load a personal story in wayfarer. Map info gets stuck on SERVER_STATE_WAIT.
I actually started using a gs again and this was the first thing i noticed. It seems to be about 1/4 that it actually hits and about the same chance that it actually leaves you facing the enemy. The best is when it sometimes doesn’t do the actual attack.
Perhaps if the actual attack was changed from a melee swing to a single target aoe? or just a much larger range that hits behind you also? This way it would at least be doing the damage. I have a feeling the facing the target issue is more of a latency issue.
The bug where you dont actually do the attack at all … yea … thats just a bug =p
#needstobefixed #twoyearsago
+1 for op
The part that bugs me is that gw1 had such amazing expansions with real content … MASSIVE amount of new zones, profs, skills, story, dungeons (heck! eotn had 18 dungeons!). But ever since the last gw1 expansion (2007) anet seems to be completely opposed to the idea of expansions. After that expansion came what i believe was the precursor to living world. It was very slow story quests that took forever to get through. The belief then was that it was cause they were all working on gw2. But now … i wonder.
I also don’t mind the LW but it seems to occur at a snails pace with huge breaks all the time. Furthermore the rest of the content that normally goes with new story is completely lacking. Lets not even get started on spvp cause i’ll be here all day.
My super tiny sad opinion in a sea of opinions is that gw2 is on the wrong path and has been for sometime. :/
That looks amazing! Awesome work =)
I already never wanted to make an alt, this silliness sealed the deal . BUT even worse, after 5k hours playing the game, i get popups telling me to learn how to dodge!?! realllly!
Seems like the plan was to remove everything that made the leveling experience fun and turn it into a monotonous lvl grind. As a veteran player (which means nothing these days) im not interested in being treated like a complete noob, IF, I ever make another character.
But then again thanks to those 250 tomes of knowledge I never have to play a low level character anyways. So ill keep waiting for endgame … OH new endgame! dodge 2 attacks in a row?! heard it here first people. /sarcasm
+1 again, on a lvl 50 :/
fix it maybe =D
The plain and simple solution is to make it so that it isnt based on RNG.
The answer is kinda obvious (and has been said since the fractal CDI and looonnng before). Simply make a dungeon npc, like every other dungeon, that accepts fractal tokens (who cares which, heck it can be both). If they want to keep the items rare make it require a ludicrous amount of relics.
As someone who LOVES fractals (i have around 21k relics and sitting on 350 pristine) and is in there everyday either with guildies or pugs. I find it a bit silly that ive been farming for over 18 months to get one silly mace. At this point its WAY easier to get legendaries than fractal weapons. Which is totally fine, im not saying they should be easy to get. Though there should be a light at the end of the tunnel. Faming mindlessly for some random rng drop isnt fun, working towards a difficult goal is.
… But this has all been said before hundreds of times and nothing ever changes so whats the point really.
Another disappointing feature that does nothing to answer the questions of why there is no endgame.
Feature patch = New players we love you
Living World = 1 play through and then never go back
Yet the actual content and features that people want to play gets ignored as always. I really hope they have something huge planned for next week …
Coming up on 350 pristine (spent about 60), still no mace here =(
i <3 Rng
Got another fractal greatsword, im just gonna pretend its a mace while i cry myself to sleep and am tormented by rng nightmares.
I’m writing this completely trying to not sound like an annoying person saying gimme gimme. But … I’ve been farming for the fractal mace for about 18 months now and while its been fun doing fractals. I now have about 300 pristine fractal relic saved up and still no mace.
Can we please, like super duper pretty please with a cherry on top, have a pristine relic npc that we can trade for the weapons. Whether its 100, 200, 300 heck! 500!!! can i just have some light at the end of the tunnel?
/Whinny rant over
I just went for a visit into crab toss and the update to the pvp system seems to have had some interesting effects on the activity. It seems that traits, sigils and virtues are working in crab toss.
The first issue was that I was able to do bleeding on hit (because of the warrior trait) and poison on hit (because of the sigil) and the nice one … sigil of fire seems to kill people on trigger. This meant that people carrying the crab were being killed because of my hits. Also the guardian virtues work so they receive aegis.
This lead to another issue that the icon that shows when you’re carrying the crab was stuck on the player that was killed even though they no longer had the crab.
I’m thinking its not meant to be like this … or … crab toss has gotten much more competitive.
Hope this helps =)
Hello, I would love an update also as its been 10 days.
ticket number: #575671
Thanks =)
The only real issue i have with the update is that you have to carry “pvp” weapons. For example if im using an axe in pve and a hammer in pvp. I will load into a match with my pve axe and then have to swap.
tbh i preferred it the old way. PvP should have entirely separate gear. (IMO)
212 Pristine relics, still no mace and no warhorn. The sad part is that I don’t even really like them anymore. Its just become this mythical achievement that I feel must be conquered.
I think we all know that fractal rewards are a joke. I <3 RNG /sarcasm
If you compare it to Guardian traits it is still equally as sh***y if not more.
We have a Strength Grandmaster that can easily be replaced with the Sigil of Intelligence
We have an Arms Grandmaster that has little to no application outside of PvE and literally would only be viable with one build, and even then it probably isn’t even the best option
We have a Defense Grandmaster that is situational at best, however wouldn’t replace Defy Pain, Merciless Hammer and hell, even I like Spiked Armor better then this
We have a Tactics Grandmaster that basically does what Guardians and Eles do, except 10x worse. Plus the only reason to go into Tactics is Vigorous Shouts, otherwise, the whole trait line pretty much sucks.
We have a Discipline Grandmaster that is fit for an Adept Trait, enough said.
Not that I am complaining, because other classes got really bad ones. But to say Warriors got anything worthwhile is such a huge misconception and a huge lie.
+1 For summarizing it perfectly. The traits don’t seem to have any use, in any game mode, because in all cases there are better options already available.
I was really hoping for some dramatic changes that would come from this. It doesn’t look like much will change, but ofc we haven’t played with them yet. To me none of these traits are something that I would consider swapping in or creating a build around.
Strength trait: is completely overshadowed by the new sigil of intelligence (next 3 attacks crit).
Arms is interesting for 2x sword but wont create new builds.
Defense trait is not worth taking over previous grandmaster.
Tactics is interesting but not worth traiting into tactics.
Discipline …. looks like an adept trait at best. And as others have said i would much rather just attack once.
While I was very excited by other profs new traits because they have the potential to open up more builds. The Warrior traits look like they wont see much use. But that’s my pre-play opinion. I hope im wrong!
Just a quick note to let you know i am up to date.
I am assuming that you all feel that for example a Dredge rework is higher priority than say a rework to rolling?
Chris
Dredge and Rewards.
Rerolling is a non issue.
+1!
The biggest issue fractals has is that the rewards are RNG based. As a person who has done waaaaaaay too many fractal runs, i find the rewards are a joke. When you do a level 50 and get an un-infused ring or NOTHING you quickly start to wonder why you’re doing it. To me fixing the rewards (Weapons that are non rng) and fixing dredge should be obvious things that NEED to be done yesterday … or 6 months ago.
As for rerolling for swamp, some of that has to do with the fact that Asuran fractal is the most annoying thing in the game unless you have guardians with you. And the water fractal is perhaps the most boring fight in the game. So when you have a level that’s faster AND more interesting, ofc people are gonna reroll for it.
As for fractals that are 5+, I feel like before that happens we would need to see particle effect fixed. It’s already at the point that you can hardly see whats going on in most fights.
I feel like the future of fractals is …
1) Better Rewards
2) New levels (Guild Wars 1 missions is an AWESOME idea)
3) New instabilities
4) Less focus on agony resist.
… but that’s just my 2 cents
I’ve always found that the camera angle faces the ground too much. I feel like im always looking at the ground and not ahead of me towards the horizon.
Based on that reddit post I really hope that one day we could get an option to move the pivot point ourselves. That would be lovely!
My top 3
1) Rewards!!!!! This is by far the biggest issue with fractals currently. Ive been doing fractal runs for months to try and get a skin that just wont drop. I feel the option is to get fractal skins with pristine fractal relics is a MUST. However to keep the fractal weapons rare it should also be difficult, perhaps 100 relics.
2) Please continue with the instabilities they’re amazing! it makes the content unique and more challenging and gets people to change up their play style.
3) … do I even have to say it? Dredge!!!! The level is waaaaaay too long. To fix this I would suggest two things which both aim to make the level shorter.
3A) In the first phase, open the two gates to get to the main room (with the drill in it). It’s basically a time sink as you need all the people in the cage room to be able to open the final door anyway. And this would probably save you hours of work fixing exploits of jumping over gates, walking on edges, porting through fences etc.
3B) Remove the clown car. It’s just another time sink before the final boss.

I’m sure the Queen could afford to hire 1 more person. +1
People will come up with excuses no matter how you beat them. That’s just the way pvp is. Whatever prof you play people will complain about some aspect of the class being op in some way. Best bet is to just ignore it and keep killing them =p
Gear Progression:
As a player who loves to change builds, I really wish that we were able to quickly change stats on gear. With the current system, the cost specifically, I feel as though experimenting with builds and trying new things is not encouraged. There have been many occasions that I would love to try something out but give up on it because of the cost of setting the build up. This is also because of the lack of build templates and there being a lack of diversity in builds … but that’s for another day =p
One idea I had for ascended armor was that it had the ability to have multiple stats. Much like legendary weapons do now. Therefore I thought of an expansion of ascended armor. This could be done through a crafting expansion or new recipes. These recipes could be something like (Ascended armor piece + X,Y, Z). The resulting armor piece would have the exact same stats as ascended … no bonus what-so-ever! Although they would be able to change the stats of the armor. Although I feel that having access to all stats would be amazing, I think perhaps it would be a bit too much awesomeness.
Therefore I figure we should be able to have access to different categories of armor stats. The creation of which could be based upon the recipes. These could be some examples …
Brawler (offensive stats): Beserkers, Assassins, Rampagers.
Paragon (Defensive): Soldier’s, Knight’s, Sentinel’s, Dire.
Monk (Heal stats): Cleric’s, Magi, Apothecary’s, Shaman’s.
The idea then is to “upgrade” your ascended armor to be able to swap stats. So if you made a set of Brawler ascended armor, you would then be able to swap stats between the stats in that category. This system … i feel … could open up players ability to swap builds, but at the same time keep the need for multiple armor sets.
That’s about it, I hope even if its too crazy it gives someone else an idea. =)
As someone who only did Tpvp casually, about 400 matches, even I’m annoyed by this. Why should everyone be getting 3x and 5x reward and the people that were there from the start get nothing for all the dedication they put in.
I understand not getting the gold or even the glory points now. But at very minimum the rank points. The entire point of “rank” is to show how much you’ve played. Now its meaningless because there is a different scale of acquisition.
Rank should either be awarded fairly and evenly for ALL wins/loses or just be removed now. … in my opinion =p
I can understand why ascended armor has to have a vastly different look to every other armor set. But yea … its reaaaaallly bad. That being said! I’m shocked it isnt blue or glowing. Well done there anet =)
I’m going to be making 1 set for main, t-stone, never make another. Its gonna be something to do for 2 weeks.
I find that the targeting system never does what you think it will. Even after all this time of playing with it, i would say 90% of time it has a mind of its own. It really does make some fights a lot harder than they have to be. Also, mouse targeting seems to be just as bad.
I think one of the problems is that in all the booms and bangs of battles you cant tell what you actually have targeted.
Talking about the warrior:
I think the “nerf” to hammer and cc dmg is understandable. Although, I feel like as a warrior (in PvE) there are already way too many builds that im better off not using my burst skill. Therefore reducing the damage of burst mastery seems a bit much. I feel like a better option for burst mastery is to leave it as it is and just reduce the damage on the specific cc skills that you want to reduce the damage. For example instead of reducing earthshaker by 20% go 23%. This way it targets the skills that are powerful now and doesn’t hurt the ones that aren’t.
just my 2 cents =)
Stuck with my main through the darkest of balance days in PvE/Tpvp and WvW. Not afraid of what they have coming =p
seems so =( …….
I was just walking through here without knowing anything had changed. Started to notice that things were … off. I must say that the 5 minutes i spent exploring and looking for things that have changed has been my best experience with the living story!
Plllllssss more of this! It actually feels like a dynamic world where things change. Cant wait for the next living story!
Ive been thinking since tequatl came out that i spend more time sitting around doing nothing in this game than i do actually playing. Tonight was even more of that!
Tbh i would rather that someone said “yea its broken” over saying nothing. But saying nothing about issues seems to be the theme these days.
