I don’t play warrior but I kill them faster than any other class in a 1 v 1. Something is seriously wrong with warrior. I think they need more base health or something.

More health is pointless when you can do nothing to protect it.

Warriors Strengths and Downfalls

Chrispytoast.3698

PvE:

  • Direct Damage – One of the best because mobs do not move or defend well (Great)
  • Condition Damage – Only bleeds, difficult to reach 25 stacks (OK/Good)
  • Healing – Not great but can keep you alive for the most part (OK)
  • Boons – Good attacking boons helps kill things faster (Good)
  • Defense – Mobs attack slow so blocking and dodging key attacks is easy (Good)
  • Sustain – Able to kill things quickly and OK heals (OK/Good)

PvP

  • Direct Damage – Attacks either root the Warrior or are telegraphed and easy to dodge (OK)
  • Condition Damage – Conditions are easily removed by players (Bad/OK)
  • Healing – Worst in PvP (Bad)
  • Boons – No defensive boons (OK)
  • Defense – Protective skills have long cooldowns that may save you in one fight but will die in next. (Bad/OK)
  • Sustain – LolWut? – Warrior will lose a 1v1 against almost any competent player of a different profession. (Bad)

Totals
PvE: Good
PvP: Bad/OK

ok, so if the entire game is frontal AoE then every weapon is technically an AoE weapon. However I would consider the GS a single target damage dealer, axes as AoE damage, and swords as bleeding damage.

The Warrior I played in GW1 was an axe warrior and his entire focus was doing as much damage to a single target as possible. This has now been taken over by the great sword but I would love to be able to dual wield axes and have all the weapon skills be single target attacks. I like the single-double-triple chop and the dual strike. All the rest do not fit with how I want to play my warrior. That is why I use the greatsword because I want to play as a single target damage dealer rather than an AoE build or Bleed build.

About to hit 80, where to start?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrispytoast.3698

Chrispytoast.3698

When I hit 80, I started by looking at which armor set I wanted first. It was a dungeon set so I started running that dungeon. After I did the runs for the day I would start working on map completion. I am currently at 86% map completion and am only missing one piece of my armor because I have not been running the dungeon recently.

I made a spreadsheet of what I want to obtain on my main. I am 11% done with gathering the materials for my legendary, 77% done with the 3 armor sets I want to obtain and 33% done with the exotic weapons I want.

I make a little progress everyday and then just go do what is fun for me that day.

My use of Native Americans was not supposed to be a 1-1 mapping of Charr and Humans, it was meant to interject a real life example that is similar to what happened between the Charr and Humans. I know that the Charr are warmongering people and because of this they were easily swayed to worship false gods bent on destruction.

@ Gandarel, if Native Americans were a war mongering people who began to worship a god that gave them immense power to overthrow the “race” that forced them out of their lands they would only attack America and England, as that is the “race” that pushed them out in the first place. If Native Americans did rise up and destroyed the land (Searing) and then marched on the capital and the president (Aldebern(sp)) decided to nuke America to kill all the Native Americans that were here would be a much closer real life representation than the Native Americans killing 90% of Americans.

a) the charr left no structures in the area’s they were supposed to have lived in before the humans. Nothing.
b) the charr had no structures, except those mode of wood and hides in the area they occupied during Eye of the North

These observations support the notion that they lived nomadic rather then that they settled. They were hunters, they wouldn’t have found sufficient prey to hunt if they stayed in one place.

Hey Frans, ever heard of Native Americans? They were nomadic people that followed their food around the plains and build their houses out of hides and sticks… sound familiar yet? Native Americans had defined lands among the tribes and tribes would fight over land. According to your posts however because they do not build structures that stay in one place they have no right to the land. There is barely any record of the Native Americans before 1492 when Columbus arrived in America, so there is little knowledge of how long the Native Americans were in America before the Settlers arrived. The Settlers then took the Native Americans land and built cities in their place. What if the Native Americans band together in 2492 and take back their land? Are they in the wrong or are the Settlers in the wrong?

Native Americans = Charr
Settlers = Humans
America = Ascalon
2492 = 1000 years after the Native Americans began to lose their land.

Conditions

Chrispytoast.3698

Most classes have a way to remove a condition every 10 seconds. Warriors do not. Maybe if banners instead of granting regeneration to allies remove a condition ever 10 seconds. This would turn into a huge reason to use banners. It may need to be re-worked so that having 4 banners down is not stupid overpowered.

1 banner = 1 condition every 10 sec.
2 banner = 1 condition every 8 sec.
3 banner = 1 condition every 6 sec.
4 banner = 1 condition ever 5 sec.

or something like that.

I recommend running around holding ctrl. It will show the text above the objects you need to find. Also, Dulfy posted some very nice guides on how to find them, you can follow them if that’s your kind of thing.

http://dulfy.net/2013/03/26/gw2-dead-drops-secret-contact-living-story-achievement-guide/

http://dulfy.net/2013/02/26/gw2-lost-and-found-living-story-event-and-achievement-guide/

I recommend it since there is only a few days left. And one more thing, If you’re not finding the items on the map and you’re sure you’re looking in the right place, it may be bugged. In that case, guest to another server and try looking there. I had to do this for the last 3 lost and found items in the Shiverpeaks.

Happy hunting

The Lost and found ones actually have many more locations and the ones in the guide are just general guidelines of where they show up. Be sure to run around holding control and try to view each area from every possible angle so that you don’t miss it when it hiding behind a tree.

Why not “Heal when you gain a strike of adrenaline?” grandmaster trait. Would actually give us a reason to use burst.

Love it, as does most of this thread.

Also probably need a clause to limit it to a single strike worth of healing when it comes to quick adren boosters like weapon swap, fury signet, zerker stance, etc.

While I like this in principle I think it would be more likely we’d get a trait that healed when we used the burst skill(aka adrenal use) instead of on adrenal gain. This would inherently be self limiting as you couldnt posibly trigger the heal more often than every 4s (quick bursts, alternating weapons) and realisticly you cant fill your bar fast enough to maintain that pace for more than couple cycles due to CD’s.

Sword/Axe – Any Other weapon set, build adrenaline for Flurry, use Flurry, switch to other weapon set, use adrenaline skill, switch weapon sets, use Whirling Axe, use Flurry, repeat.

This requires multiple enemies attacking you but it is possible to have almost 100% uptime on your adrenaline bar.

I think it should be a trait that heals on adrenaline tick or adrenaline bar. 30 small heals, or 3 medium heals. The heals would need to be enough to give us some sustain without being the low level OP healing that healing signet used to be.

Now change the recipe for Legendary’s to require any combination of (2) of these gifts. You can use (1) of each of (2) of the same. At the same time reduce the award for PvE map completion to (1) “Gift of Exploration”.

This will effectively eliminate any PvE’er from being required to do WvW and vice versa.

No one wants this, To get a Legendary you should be required to be a “master” at all parts of the game excluding sPvP and tPvP. Because you need a Gift of Battle from WvW and a Gift of Exploration, Gift of Exploration should be PvE only. That way you need a Gift from PvE Exploration, from WvW Battles, and Gifts from Dungeons.

WvW is not part of the world map. It is part of the mists. By your logic in order to get 100% we should have to go through every fractal because they are also in the mists. World exploration is about exploring the world. Not the Mists. We want to get 100% completion for completing 100% of the world map. No one is asking for hand outs, you however seem to lack the ability to comprehend that.

Downscaled Content is Far, Far Too Easy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

The main problem is at 80 you have armor that gives you three stats, at 14-16 you only had armor that gave you one stat. Because of this downscaled content is easier. Why Map Completion should not include WvW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrispytoast.3698

Chrispytoast.3698

All of your points are nonsequiturs. You say these are why map complettion should not include WvW.

1) Why does it matter if it’s a pvp area? Who ever told you that the designers intended you to be able to get a legendary without a little pvp? They didn’t say that, and by the design, they specifically intended that legendaries require stepping foot in a place you can be killed by players.

2) There’s no way to walk there?? I don’t even know what you’re getting at. Just total nonsense. Why would it follow that if you can’t walk there that it shouldn’t be a requirement? That’s like saying “I shouldn’t have to go to work and I should be given free money because my job is to far to walk to.”

3) Even if this were true (and it isn’t for all classes), who told you ANET intended for you to be able to solo a legendary the whole way. In fact, you have to farm a dungeon for every legendary and that takes 5 players necessarily and that’s PvE.

4) Imagine that, they’ll “have a hard time”. Again, who told you it would be easy?

5) More non-sequitur.

Your whole list is just crying about how hard it is. I hope they make it harder. But you know what, ANet will most likely not take my suggestion either. I HOPE they don’t take my suggestion based on just my opinion, because I hope they don’t change the game based on handfuls of peoples’ entitlement issues.

I never said that you should not need WvW for a Legendary.

For a legendary you should need both PvE and WvW.

I have never once complained on how hard it is. All I said was that I do not think map exploration belongs in WvW.

Apart from Rata Sum, every zone in the game that is explorable can be reached by running there. Except for WvW which exits in the Mists. My point should have said that rather than the walking.

Shufflepants your responses do not make any sense. Partly because you somehow replace everytime you see World Completion with Legendary which is not what this topic is about and your anecdotes do not make sense. If you are a cartographer you should not have to travel to the moon to complete your map of the earth.

1) It is a PvP area
2) There is no way to walk into WvW from other zones. You must use an Asura Gate.
3) All PvE exploration can be completed solo while WvW requires groups to take points.
4) If one team remains first for weeks, other teams will have a hard time taking their points to get the exploration.
5) WvW is separated from PvE just like PvP is but we are not required to get PoI in PvP

This is in no way me crying that it is to hard to get these points. I just think that having WvW required for a PvE achievement seems flawed.

This is like saying you shouldn’t have to do PvE to get components for a Legendary weapon.

Hmm… maybe they should make the legendary weapons per-zone-type, so if you do a long list of things in PvE, PvP or WvW you can make a legendary that can only be used in the relevant zone.

This is in no way saying you shouldn’t need to do PvE to get components for a Legendary, there is already a WvW requirement for the Legendary of 500 Battle Tokens. They could remove the WvW requirement for exploration but keep it for Legendary

OH noes i have the hp regen of an ele with perma regeneration, the warrior must be the weakest PvE class ever.

In a fight that constantly applies conditions, uses both condition removal heal and shake it off earlier to stay alive. Kill enemy causing fire but have low life, 15-20s of cooldowns for both condition removals. Die from burning because can’t remove conditions.

Warriors have no sustain. We have the highest armor which doesn’t account for much and more HP than other classes. Sweet, we get destroyed by conditions and have barely any damage mitigation besides dodging.

I think all the Guardians do not understand what it takes for a Warrior to get the Boon Hate trait. Boon Hate Math

in Warrior

Posted by: Chrispytoast.3698

Chrispytoast.3698

So I was just doing some math using a Guardian’s bunker build with 2578 armor as the target and a standard power warrior as my attacker. Using the damage calculation found on the wiki I got that basic attacks against the bunker guardian would do 590 damage with the power build.

I then replaced all the trait lines of power with Discipline and got 461 damage per hit. Say the Guardian has 5 boons on him that will boost damage to 530 per hit.

Yes this is an extreme example of power vs boon hate but I think that boon hate is currently too week to be worth the 30 points in discipline.

If you do happen to have 30 points in strength and discipline your basic damage would be boosted to 678.

OmnomBerry pie as a trait?

So I know Omnomberry Pie used to be OP before the internal cooldown was added and now it is no where near as useful as it was.

What if the Warrior had a trait that gave lets say 33% chance to steal life on critical with no internal cooldown? This would give the Warrior some sustainability but still keep Anet’s theme for the warrior.

Why not “Heal when you gain a strike of adrenaline?” grandmaster trait. Would actually give us a reason to use burst.
