Well this makes me happier about WvW than I was earlier. I hope that this closeness trickles around to all the other servers so that games fell like they are won not facerolled

I am curious if any of these week long wars has actually been a decent war and not a complete roll, When ever I check the scores a couple of days after it starts one team is owns 95-98% of the map and the other servers are just trying to take back their battleground.

Has anyone seen it end where the winner had less than 75% on the pie chart?

I do not run a full support build but I would like to see an increase in incentive to do so. Currently there is only an incentive in dungeons to ensure your party doesn’t wipe. There is no reason to go Support in PvE or WvW. I am not asking to make support a completely viable build where you can ignore doing damage but I would like to see a reason to run it outside of dungeons.

They way I see it most people are going DPS in PvE, this occurs so that they can get the most loot possible. I have been looking on the forums at support builds that sound like a lot of fun but I do not want to roll them because it will lower my chances of loot and getting credit for DEs. If I am using all my skills helping others succeed and don’t get credit why would I waste my time? I think that outside of pvp and maybe dungeons support will die off leaving only damage and conditional damage for PvE. That sucks.

I switch very often on my Warrior, I am running S&B and Longbow so I build up adrenaline then switch to longbow for the fire combo field launch 3 for blast finisher and switch back to S&B and leap in for aura. works great at taking down mobs and my S&B is a toughness vitality build so I can take lots of hits and wait for adrenaline to do the damage

My problem with GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chrispytoast.3698

Chrispytoast.3698

I don’t have enough time to play it.

I am the kind of player that had all my character slots filled with PvE characters that went through all the storylines because I wanted to play everything. Unfortunately that was when I was in high school and now that I am working I do not have enough time to play how I want. I currently have a level 60 Warrior and while I am disappointed that the Warrior has not received any bug fixes since launch I enjoy the place he is at and enjoy playing him.

I am constantly fighting myself to either play my warrior to get him closer to 80 or to play one of my other characters to get a feel for them more. I miss in GW1 Factions where you could spend 3 hours playing and your character would hit max level. You didn’t have the best build but you could at least do all the content now. It made making new characters fun and easy having such high progression. I do not want the level cap lowered. I think content needs to be reworked to show more progression through the levels and make it more fluid.

In GW1 I was going after the skill hunter title. That was an amazing title to do, you would figure out where a skill was, go to the area, find it, if it didn’t spawn you would leave then comeback till it did, you killed it then took the skill. This was a very large time and money sink considering buying a skill cost me 1 platinum each time. There is nothing like that in this game and that makes me sad.

In GW1 I excepted that I would never have the coolest looking armor, after I got my first droks armor I only got new armor after EoTN came out and that was because I wanted a new look. It took me several months to get the money and mats needed for my armor. I have accepted that I will most likely never get Tier 3 cultural armor due to the high price but I am glad about that. It is nice to have something that I can reach for that is far away and likely for me never to achieve. I will try to get the cultural armor down the line so that I can have the skin for it but it is not the end of the world for me if I don’t.

I want to get to level 80 on my Warrior so I can get the top level armor and run dungeons and be part of the End-Game that was easy to get to in GW1 and that I never did in WoW. It will take me a while to get there but I am having fun going through the game. The personal story from 50-60 was a lot of fun for me. I am hoping that when I get to 80 all the problems with dungeons are fixed, the bugs currently effecting my Warrior are fixed and they figure out how to get rid of the DR system so that people don’t get penalized for regular play.

I have high hopes for GW2 as it moves forward. When the expansion comes out and adds more content I will rejoice. I hope they do not increase the level cap and just add more level 80 content. I don’t want all the work that people are putting in to getting their gear go to waste because of a new expansion. This does not need to be WoW, GW1 did fine without raising the level gap and I think just adding new armor skins would be great, also allowing greater customization of the armor stats would go a long way into creating unique and meaningful builds.

So I ended up rambling there so for that I apologize. I am enjoying my time with GW2 and wish I had more time to play it. I like leveling my multiple characters and hope that when my Warrior finally gets to 80 that most of the bugs and issues people who rushed there saw will be resolved. GW2 is brand new and I did not expect everything to be perfect. I am looking forward to future expansions and patches to increase my enjoyment of the game.

Flame Temple Tombs

So getting here by following the DE chain was fine, going through all the challenges in the room also fine. But getting to the boss and dying sucks, there is no way to respawn after you die, if your group dies all that time you put into getting here is wasted. I think the biggest problem was that there was no surface to swim to, when you are downed in water you are meant to swim to the surface. all the abilities are for getting mobs away so you can breathe. In the flame temple tombs there is no area to breathe in the boss fight.

I am ok with the difficulty of the boss. He should be hard. But when the party wiped we just said screw it rather than go back. It took way to much effort to get back to (something we didn’t want to do) an underwater boss fight.

Is ball kittened out? ( B a-l l) anyways you could just use your skill point count over 80 to describe your level, Like “In Time” where they tell their age as 25 for 5, or 25 for 300, you could be 80 for 5 or 80 for 2147

How is your post relevant to anything when you aren’t even a higher level for the majority of dungeons to even matter to you?
I’m not one of the ones complaining because after i got 6 tokens from a long dungeon run i decided to stop. I came into this thread expecting a higher level telling everyone else to calm down on dungeons.

Would you have thought better of this post if I didn’t tell you my level and just told people to calm down? Yes I have not gotten to max level in order to do all the dungeons but I can do two of them. I could start trying to get tokens. Why do I have to wait till 80 to have an opinion?

Instead I get a level 45 that thinks he is some kind of mediator because he doesn’t have enough time to play and doesn’t run one of the 2 dungeons he is able to while leveling.
I didn’t run many dungeons either while leveling, did you have some kind of huge point?
Just because you are forced to level slowly by time constraints doesn’t mean everyone else has to conform to your time frame or mindset to enjoy the game.

I never said anyone needs to play the game the way I do, I just said that this is my experience. So lets assume you have played this game for 300+ hours, the cost of the game is $60. meaning for every dollars you spent you got 5 hours of gameplay or entertainment, now lets look at a move, roughly $10 for a 2 hour movie, so for $60 dollars you would get 12 hours of entertainment and to get $300 it would cost you $1500 to me getting 300+ hours for $60 seems like a steal.

How would you feel if you were locked out of leveling as soon as 100 people hit 80 on your server? you would hate it wouldn’t you?
This is how people that get to end game feel when lower levels tell them to go level alts or stop complaining about end game.
They have to wait months for something to do.

They have to wait months for an update to fix the bug that is preventing them from running dungeons? What is going to happen when the bug is fixed and they spend another month getting all the armor? Are they going to complain then that there is no more content? You bet they are, because people who don’t understand how much it takes to make a game with this much content and that the rate you can get through it is faster than they can make it.

I really only came in here to tell you that people that gloat that they don’t have a lot of time to play to feel “better” than the ones that play a lot are just as bad as the complainers.
I am sorry you have no time to play, but your whole post is rude and isn’t relevant to the problem because you aren’t even max level.

I never gloated that I don’t have a lot of time to play, I simply stated when I can play and what I do during that time.

Am I rude because I am enjoying playing at my pace? Or am I rude because I think people need to relax and enjoy the game rather than expect endless content? Or am I rude for telling people to stop complaining about a bug when it is being worked on? Running dungeons and raging on the forums wont get the bug fixed any faster, running the dungeon and posting results will help though.

I currently have a level 45 Warrior that is my main, I do not get to play during the day because of work and I have a puppy so that limits my play time to several hours a night if I am lucky.

I have seen all the forums of people complaining about the DR system and the current bug that is screwing people over. A bug means its not intentional and people that run a dungeon knowing that this bug exists have no right to complain about the results of the run. Posting it so the devs can track it down quicker is fine but the rage needs to stop.

I ran AC story mode and since then I have not gone back and done a dungeon, I found the slow way to level and I am enjoying it very much. If you try to do all the lower level areas before moving to higher level areas you get much less experience and therefore level slower. I have been playing this way because I play with my friends who started in different areas so we went and did their starting zones before moving on.

I am looking forward to dungeons when they are fixed. Until then I am happy to play the game normally. I don’t have 300+ hours and people who do and are complaining that there is no end game really need something else to do in their lives… Go try writing a book that will take someone 300 hours to read and then keep up with their demand for another 300+ hour book every month. The time it takes you to write a book that is as polished as this game and deliver the 300+ hours is way longer than it takes to read it.

Anyways. Now that I am done being angry at the entitled people who play more than 10 hours a day I am glad that ANet is working on fixes and I can’t wait until the dungeons are fixed. until then I will play the game

more weapon skills not necessary – add more weapons in expansions/patches if necesary.

I Disagree, adding new weapons will help Diversify what you can do but you will still be a GS Warrior or a Staff Elementalist, your build will never be unique.

Adding more skills to each weapon will make it feel like you have your own build and your own character.

Additional points:
Contribution needs to go. Gold/silver/bronze needs to be removed. Contribution should just be awarded for taking part at a flat level. Right now it actively discourages good group play, as ressing or supporting penalises you, and classes with ramp up time rather than burst aoe dps dont get loot/contribution/exp from the events.
This is possibly the biggest flaw in the game right now and need URGENT attention by Anet.

This does need to be fixed but a flat rate for anyone in the area is not going to fix things, it would allow for people to go AFK and still get credit for events. There should still be contribution to the event so you cannot hit it once and leave and get the same credit for someone who did most of the work. They do need to find a way to give more credit to supporting play styles though.

Downscaling needs to be harsher, right now you are still stupidly OP when downscaled more than a few levels.

I like having the feeling that I am a little OP when I go back to lower areas, it makes me feel like I made progress since I was here the last time. I am not invincible so that’s fine for me.

Events need to be made harder, possibly repeated player sucess makes the enemies much much stronger so we see failure events. Right now we will never see half the event chains as there is no chance the events will travel down the failure path, they are locked at total success.

Yes, events have now become success, success, success, if you are not the only person doing a tough event. Increasing the difficulty for the same event the next time around would make it much more rewarding, players would see more of the event chains and would appreciate the challenge.

Fire Elemental at Thaumanova Reactor

in Dynamic Events

Chrispytoast.3698

I think the event needs to be fixed. It is hard and easy at the same time. I was running the events leading up to this where you guide a golem there and he explodes. After he exploded and I realized there was going to be a boss I told my party to run away as fast as possible. One person asked why and died instantly before she even knew there was a boss. The other two and myself made it out and tried to spread out.

The large amount of AOE-KnockDown-Burns in the area make dodging a nightmare. I am fairly good at dodging, I can dodge the one I am in but then I land in another dodge again and now I cant dodge. With out being able to dodge the AoE’s you will die quick.

After the initial deaths when it is decided that there will be no rez because rezzing gets you killed we ported and ran back. Now there are many more people trying to get into the area. No one was trying to stay on the bridge. Everyone was killing the adds at the bridge the best we could but in the time it would take 3 people to rez 1 person there would be 4 more adds to kill.

There was no getting past the bridge. The constant stream of AoE’s meant that if you got close enough to attack the fire imps you were already surrounded by at least 4 of the AoE-KnockDown-Burn bullkitten.

Eventually we got in but still had problems with the spawn rate of the imps. This event gets you good at dodging but the penalty for missing a dodge or being out of endurance is to great. If you miss a dodge you die and in a low level area that is too much. You should have to miss both your dodges to die.

Biggest problem I see is the bottleneck getting into the area. The adds camp that bridge and killing them is impossible when you cant get close enough.

All in all this event needs tweaking. I like the general premise of the event being a dodge or die but the super high spam rate of the AoE’s and low recharge rate of endurance makes this a losing battle.

P.S. we did kill it and it felt great even though it was ultimately not worth it money wise We were still proud we finally one.

I like this suggestion but with Warriors being “The most complete profession” I don’t see it getting implemented any time soon. It does feel that for being a Master of Weapons we are just like every other class. our skills may be different but each class has more unique differences than that. This would set the warrior apart and it would not be game breaking, It would allow for more variable play style but since you will not be able to swap fire swap fire swap fire repeat in any reasonable time frame the dps would remain the same.

Can we freeze the cooldown of spells when you switch weapons?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Chrispytoast.3698

Chrispytoast.3698

I think you are confusing poor class balance with people who understand and use a game mechanic. Weapon switching is supposed to be used during combat to increase your damage output. I cannot say how this pertains to thief because I have not played one, but all the traits the give you bonuses on weapon swap would be worthless. There would be no incentive to switch weapons. Classes switch weapons because with cooldowns they are sitting ducks. Don’t know if you have done a dungeon as a Warrior yet but after you go through cooldowns if you don’t switch to your other weapon you are dead. Your cooldowns will take too long if you just wait and you will die. So having them freeze would mean you always die.

No Move To Target = PVP and WvW SUCKS for Melee

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Chrispytoast.3698

Chrispytoast.3698

I think a big part of the problem is the functionality of many of the leap / charge abilities. They are intended to act as range closers for melee but most of them just do not work well enough to fill that role. Some of them have self roots and extremely long animations that mean by the time you land your target is miles away. For others they may take you close to the target but stop just short of them.

If the leap / charge skills had better functionality, if the charge skills in particular worked like warrior charge in wow. Took you to the target and gave them a 1s stun or interrupt. It would make melee much more effective.

Also all self roots on melee abilities need to be removed. They make the abilities that have them next to useless since any moving opponent and can completely avoid them with little effort.

I am currently using the two sword signet build for my Warrior in PvE because it is quick to level, the leap ability on the sword misses constantly but I always have more abilities to use.

Bull’s Charge is the ability to rush and stun you are looking for. It knocks them down. that followed by a cripple makes opponents easy to hit.

The root can be annoying but if you run your skills through correctly you can get chains where after the first good hit stops them you can wail on them easily
