Guild Wars 2

here are a couple changes how I would change the game:

no levels

no gear stats

no gold

no grind

skins drop randomly in the world so you aren´t forced to play in a specific part of the map. The most desirable skins will have the lowest drop rate, but any enemy can drop any skin. World bosses have specific, unique skins that only they can drop.

Player housing

crafting still gives xp. The higher your crafting level the more things you unlock to decorate your player house.

World completion

getting 100% world completion unlocks a mount that you can customize.

dungeons

dungeons have multiple difficulty tiers. After you complete the first tier you get a specific armor or weapon precursor with multiple stages that fits the dungeons theme. Successfully completing a tier makes the armor/weapon evolve until eventually you get the final legendary form provided you beat the hardest tier.

raids
similar to dungeons with multiple difficulty tiers. Rewards: special mount accessories and a special title that is visible to other players.

There is a special new monument in lions arch with players names on it who have managed to beat the final tier of the raid.

guild raids
same as raids, but rewards are specific guild hall upgrades

guild vs guild

same as WvW, but on a smaller scale. Guilds battle each other. Rewards are special guild hall upgrades

no trading
exception being if you are doing group content and you get a skin that doesn´t fit your class then you can trade it with members in your group for a short period of time.

It won´t be the only thing you have to do to get legendary armor.

Beating the raids will be the easy part.

getting 5000g to actually craft a full set will be the hard part.

where can you preview the backpack?

I hate that it takes a new player over 3 months just to get geared for the raid.

I call bs. Have you done the math? Then show us. Also, ascended for raid isnt necessary as been pointed out many times. Sure most ppl might say you must have it to join them, but that is not a valid reason to say you MUST farm for ascended. You dont HAVE TO farm silverwastes, and you dont HAVE TO have acended for raids.

Deal with it or go home

Silverwastes gives roughly 10g per hour (often times less). You also need to do the meta event to get keys so that adds to the time. A full set of ascended armor if you buy everything off the TP costs roughly 700-800g and you also have to level crafting.

I have tried literally every way of making gold and Silverwastes is still the most reliable way to earn a bit of gold. Doing the full DS event I make roughly 2-4g total if I sell everything and sell all the mats after the event. That´s 2-4g for an hour and a half of playing the game “normally”.

And you DO have to have ascended if you want to raid with pugs. First thing that gets asked now when you join a group is to ping your gear. You also need to be the right class (sorry thieves, no raiding for you) and have to have the right build.

I don´t want to raid with a guild because then you have to follow raid schedules etc… which makes the game feel more like work than an actual game.

You don’t need ascended, the elitists need ascended. Everything in this game can be done in exotics as ascended gear only offers a 5% increase. Number crunchers and hardcore players will argue the gap, but in the attempt preserve fun, why would you worry about content that requires such an increase? And why would you want to game with those kind of people?

Have you even tried to raid?

If you join a pug group first thing they ask you to do is ping your gear. If you don´t have full ascended you get kicked immediately. Anet themselves said ascended gear is strongly recommended.

Raiding is fun, but it costs over 700g+ just to start raiding. So much for no required gear grind.

You don’t need ascended, however I agree that it is far too expensive. An ascended armour set should cost a couple of hundred gold maximum.

good luck finding a raid group if you don´t have full ascended armor with the right stats + trinkets.

Even if you are in a guild they won´t want to take you if there is another player with full asc.

So much for no gear grind.

“Ping your gear” is the very first thing every PUG Raid group asks for now.

If you don´t have full ascended armor with the right stats good luck finding a group.

I feel like it´s time for me to leave the game now.

Don´t have the energy anymore to run in circles in the SW for 100+ hours just to get a minor stat increase.

Message Body length must at least be 15.

Legendary armor will end up being the biggest gold sink in video game history.

I can already see tons of raiders selling raid end bosses in the LFG chat for gold.

The biggest problem in GW2 is that the people that do hard content get almost no rewards and the people that do easy, brainless chest farming for hours everyday get all the coolest gear.

I love jumping puzzles.

Having to clear that last jump gets my blood pumping more than any boss fight.

I have quit my job, left my girlfriend and have stocked up hundreds of hot pockets so I won´t have to leave the house to get food for atleast a couple months.

I´m prepared to grind the Silverwastes for 6+ hours everyday and then go raiding for a couple hours to relax.

I´m fully expecting legendary armor to be the biggest gold sink in video game history.

is there really any noticeable difference between exotic and ascended gear?

While I don´t think HoT is as good as the core game I still feel that I got my moneys worth.

I´ve only done the meta event once while there were still enough people there.

Took roughly 3 hours to get enough people, comms talked us through the event etc.

Then the event started and failed within 5 minutes xD

How do you guys get the inquest servo i farmed 1 hours golem mark 2 and the golem meta event and the champion golem mark 2 in the golem keep and get nothing :/

I killed the inquest golem II world boss in Mount Maelstrom twice and got the servo on my second try.

They´re all fun.

Put in a little over 700 hours which is a lot for me (the most I had before was the Witcher3 with 80 hours which is also a fantastic game) and I´m nowhere near bored. I have no real desire to play other games.

I feel like there is still so much to do.

PVP, WvW, Fractals, Raids, Map completion and events, Guild missions, leveling and gearing alts, getting legendary weapons and armor etc…

I have a feeling all this will keep me busy for another couple thousand hours.

Only big things I don´t like about the game is the lack of meaningful rewards, tedious inventory clicking and the dungeon nerfs. Other than that I´m loving the game.

Can a hammer scrapper at all be useful in the raid?

Don´t have full ascended gear and I´m a scrapper/hammer engi.

No group wants to have you if you are not the right class and don´t have fully ascended gear.

This game is no different than WoW now.

I don´t like the engineer because you have to press so many buttons and the rotations are confusing. Also being ranged with a rifle all the time gets boring quickly.

Having said that I´m absolutely in love with the scrapper. It´s my favorite class by far because it kinda reminds me of the barbarian from Diablo3. A big, brutal in your face character that deals a ton of damage and is very straightforward to play. Kits also give you tons of utility so you can deal with any situation. It´s probably my favorite class of any game ever.

Everytime I engage in combat the bat effect completely vanishes and the bats don´t come back after the fight is over.

I have to manually click hide and unhide after every encounter to get the effect back.

You expect us to put in a ridiculous amount of effort to get this skin and now it doesn´t even work properly.

I´m guessing it´ll be atleast 5k gold + precursors for the whole set.

How is gold farming more effective in HoT?

I did dragon stand and earned a whopping 1g for 2 1/2 hours of effort.

I want to play the new content, but there is no gold to be had in HoT so I´m grinding the Silverwastes.

I always see tons of people in the new zones. You just have to use LFG and use a taxi.

It´s annoying by design.

They want you to spend real money to buy a 6th bag slot. That´s the whole idea behind drowning players in worthless loot.

this has happened to me the last 3 times I did Dragon Stand. Did the whole event chain and right before the boss it crashed.

the most valuable item I´ve found in 500hours of play was an exotic worth 3 gold.

There is no loot in this game. If you want gear you have to farm gold and buy it of the TP.

I have never really played WoW, but I feel tempted to switch.

I feel like all I´m doing in GW2 is grinding.

Grind the same events over and over again and then do grindy chest farming for a little bit of gold. Yes, HoT is harder, but it still feels like there is little skill involved in PVE because you are just running in a big zerg that steamrolls everything.

The problem is that you never get anything worthwhile when playing this game and you never get compensated for your efforts. You only grind for gold and there is never a feeling of excitement when killing mobs because you never get anything useful anyways.

I don´t mind grinding dungeons or raiding if you atleast have a chance to get decent drops. I enjoy Diablo3 and I guess the loot system in WoW is similar? Would I be better off playing WoW then?

buy gems with real money and convert them into gold.

They have nerfed every other way of making gold.

couldn´t care less about the story. I finished the story yesterday and skipped every single cutscene, just to get it over with. Don´t even know any of the NPC names.

There are no rewards for doing anything in the game. You only get rewards by spending real money on the gem store.

You do however get showered with tons of worthless loot. It´s Anets sleazy way to get you to buy another bag slot with real money.

but it´s the only way to earn gold in this game other than playing the TP which is even more boring.

My daily routine is grind the Silverwastes for three hours and then play HoT for an hour.

Why can´t we be rewarded for beating hard content?

Instead the people that run in circles all day are rewarded with the coolest gear in the game.

yep, it really, really sucks. IMO it´s worse than grinding for hero points.

I had to grind out 19 Tyria points and now I completely despise the game.

I´d love mounts in the game.
