Tyria mastery point disappointment

I completely agree.

Tyria Mastery Points completely turned me off from the game even though I like almost everything else about it.

I also hate how PVP players get completely shafted again.

so it´s just one point then?

In the living story section in the hero pannel is shows a chest and 0/2 Tyria mastery points though as a reward for each story section.

Can we get official clarification on this?

The primary problem here is just people like the OP who want everything at their fingertips just because they see someone else who has something they don’t because they didn’t put as much time/effort into it.

not really. I just have better things to do than stand around and wait for hours at a HC because I have to wait for other players. Maybe you and Anet don´t value ones own time, but I do.

“Listen, every champ in HoT is soloable.”

I´ll give anyone 1000g if they can put up a vid of them soloing the Pile of Guano Hero Point (the fight with the vampire boss)

hint: nobody can because it´s technically impossible

So if I solo some champion HP do they count as already soloable since it’s possible? Or do you consider “soloable” something when it’s basically a freebie ?

What exactly is the meaning of “soloable” for you?

been standing at the Guano Incubated Hero Challenge for an hour now with nobody in sight.

See? Here is your problem. Don’t stand and wait for people to come. Call out to them using /m or LF tool.

Chance is there are many who want to do this but didn’t look for others and didn;t want to stand there waiting.

duh, you really think I haven´t tried using map chat or lfg?

soloable means being able to do them on your own.

Most HC aren´t soloable because of the time limit. They are literally impossible to do on your own.

Again, I soloed many HP (obviosuly not all due to HP, attacks, armor etc). Does that mean it’s considered soloable or is it soloable when someone with 25 IQ can solo it ? Where do we draw the line ?

To me if the game posesses no challenge and is just easy it equals boring. If GW2 becomes too easy then I will stop playing it again. I like challenge but not artificial one. So far GW2 is cool.

oh, the irony.

Giving a boss a ridiculous amount of HP and then setting a time limit so that it´s technically impossible to beat him alone is the definition of artificial challenge.

Thinking of shelling out 800 gems to get Mastery Points from some living World Season2 Episodes.

3. Do I get mastery points by doing the personal story?

yes, it´s a step in the right direction. However there is only three new legendary weapons so far.

And of course, if their precursor collections will follow the same pattern as those for old precursors, the silverwastes farming till you drop part will still be there.

I highly doubt that silverwastes is more lucrative than farming the jungle atm.

how?

In the jungle doing events I make roughly 50 silver/hour at most while Silverwastes gives atleast 8g+/hour now after they have nerfed the chests.

I haven’t read everything in this topic yet but I’m going to share my opinion on legendaries. They should be expensive they should be very bloody expensive. They should be extremely hard and long to get. That is what makes them legendary. Legendaries should have the wow factor. If I see someone with a legendary weapon I want to be amazed, I want to know that the player has spent a tonne of effort earning that weapon. No one should even be 1% of the journey to getting a legendary 5 days in. Are they really “legendary” if they can be produced without legendary amounts of effort?

Legendaries should be hard to aquire, but they should be gated behind hard content that requires skill.

As of now the only thing I assume when I see a player with legendaries is that he has no skill because he´s spending all his waking hours running in circles in the Silverwastes or used his mommys credit card.

It´s pretty funny reading everywhere how thieves are weak. I found thief to be the easiest and most fun class to play for me.

Thieves are not meant to fight 1vs1 fights against enemies with full health bars.

You´re supposed to cap points, finish off enemies that are already below 50% health quickly and then immediately vanish into stealth again and cap the next point.

If you play thief like a tanky warrior you´ll get your kitten handed to you.

I almost never die in PvP as a thief.

How to farm gold now?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ChrizZcE.5981

ChrizZcE.5981

How to farm gold for a casual player? I don’t want to spend 2 hours a day chestfarming or champfarming. Dungeons are out of the question, 1.5g for all 3 paths? noty.

I spend most of the time pvping, and then I do pve I mostly do my daily dungeon runs, Teq and TT. Now that dungeons are out of question. Saving gold is terribly difficult now, as it pile up soooo slowly. How to farm gold in a nice way?

Welcome to being gated into buy gems with real currency now.

That’s what I was thinking all the way. I haven’t been playing this game for too long to know how it was in the past (3 months by now or smth like that) and I can see that most “cool looking” items are on average 300g. I’ll be nice and say 200g. Even 200g now is “time-gating” to get. The daily dungeon with 1.5g each path wasn’t even bad, heck it’s ONCE a day. In many other games you can spam dungeons until you run out of breath or lose the motivation to farm money. But hell, everything is now limited to once a day. What happened with " play how you want, whenever you want?" I’m not getting rewarded for my actions anymore, like it used to when I first started.

I wished the “most cool looking” items were only 200g.

Try 3500g for Incinerator which I´m currently grinding for.

Should I purchase HOT or wait?

HoT is a nice contrast to Vanilla GW2.

Vanilla GW2 is for casuals that want a nice, relaxed experience with lots of handholding.

HoT is for people that want a challenge with less hand holding. Combat is much more intense and satisfying. It actually requires skill now and the action camera is by far the best addition to the game yet.

The combat and exploration in HoT reminds me a lot of Dark Souls.

Best way to play for gold?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ChrizZcE.5981

ChrizZcE.5981

You don´t earn any gold by playing the game.

Only way to make gold is by doing mindless Silverwastes chest farming (which has also been nerfed now) or playing the trading post.

If you earned gold while playing the game and having fun then Anet wouldn´t make any money from the gem store.

That´s also my no.1 complaint with the game. It´s so obvious that the devs do everything in their power to keep you from making gold so that you are being forced into buying gems with real money.

I want to play the expansion, but I don´t because I´m working on my first legendary. There is no point beating challenging content that maybe rewards 10 silver an hour when I could just do mindless chest farming and make 15g/hour which is also a tiny amount when legendaries cost upwards of 3500 gold.

"Challenging Content"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ChrizZcE.5981

ChrizZcE.5981

I love that HoT is basically the Dark Souls of MMOs. However challenging content is only fun if it is designed fairly. Often times I will get one shotted out of nowhere by mobs without any sort of attack animation or red circle on the ground. That´s when challenging becomes unfair and frustrating.

I also wished Legendaries were gated behind hard content. Whenever I see someone with a Legendary I immediately think that guy is a no lifer that only farms the Silverwastes everyday and possesses no skill.

Have you gone into the UI and clicked on the mastery to complete it? They don’t auto complete when you fill the bar.

You should have some unspent points already, a number of core ones from achievements, and at least 1 HoT point from the story instance that takes you into the new maps. However, they do tend to drop from reward chests – if they’re causing you to crash, have you tried repairing the game client?

you have to understand that literally everything in this game is designed in a way to keep players from making gold. You don´t earn any gold by playing the game.

Dungeons give a tiny bit of gold —-> nerf

Trick or treat farming gives a tiny bit of gold —-> nerf

Next thing that will be nerfed is the Silverwastes.

By nerfing all possible ways to get gold people are forced to spend real money on the gem store instead. That´s how Anet makes their money. It sucks and I truly believe GW2 would be a better game if it had a subscription fee.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: ChrizZcE.5981

1. try to explore an area solo —-> get killed over and over again by an endless stream of mobs

2. kill all the mobs and finally reach a new area —> can´t access area because you need to lvl masteries first (you can only lvl masteries by completing events)

3. stand around 30 minutes at waypoint until an event pops up —-> get to the event —-> can´t access the event because you need to lvl masteries first

4. do hero challenge instead —--> impossible to solo hero challenge and there is nobody there —-> die over and over again

Can the devs really not see how badly designed this expansion is?

I have my eyes on Incinerator which is selling for 4000g today.

I´m a PVP lover. Playing PVP gives me roughly 50 silver an hour. Now if I were to play the game the way I enjoy playing it, it would take me roughly 8000 (!) hours to get my first legendary.

Doing dungeons with randoms gives maybe 5g an hour. That´s 800 hours for a legendary. So if I were to play only GW2 for two hours every single day it would take me over a year to get a legendary.

Silverwastes can give you roughly 10g/hour, but you also have to farm keys and do tedious inventory clicking so it´s actually less than that.

Now here comes the kicker, ToT farming gives 20g/hour.

There is no point exploring the world, doing dungeons, fractals, being social with other players, joining a guild, learning your class or doing PVP when by far the fastest way to get the rarest and best gear in the game is by running around on a small island killing defenseless candy cotton elementals over and over again for hours everyday.

Of course you could always craft a legendary, but I doubt it´s faster than just buying it since there is so much RNG involved.

It´s pretty sad when you think about it and it´s slowly turning me away from the game.

I get that the entire game is designed around making gold as hard as possible to get so that people spend real money on the gem store, but it´s still leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
