Should max stat gear be easy to be obtained?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yes.

Cool skins can be a 10-year grind for all I care, but if max-stat gear is hard to get I may as well go play WoW.

I was really hoping for something different.

umm you possible wouldwant tolook to ascended items/infusions recipes…

They possibly surpasses most korean mmorpg grinding requirement….
Also they almost destroyed economy in few days ._.

To craft 12 Ascended items:
3000 tier 6 fine crafting material
12 vials of condensed mist essence
600 globs of ectoplasm
288 skill points

To infuse 12 Ascended items:

3000 Passion Fruits
1200 Vicious Claws
12 Eldritch Scrolls = 600 skill points
240 Mystic Coins = 240 daily achievements

Enjoy your grind.

Wait wait wait:

So what you all are saying is if I want 12 Ascended pieces of gear with infusions, I need to come up with:

To craft 12 Ascended items:
3000 tier 6 fine crafting material
12 vials of condensed mist essence
600 globs of ectoplasm
288 skill points

To infuse 12 Ascended items:
3000 Passion Fruits
1200 Vicious Claws
12 Eldritch Scrolls = 600 skill points
240 Mystic Coins = 240 daily achievements

Seriously? I mean, seriously? To get better gear I need to do this?

I didn’t mind the Obsidian Armor grind in GW1 – the stats were IDENTICAL to the cheap stuff you could get from the merchant. But THIS? For gear with HIGHER STATS?

Who are you people who designed this, and what have you done with ArenaNet?

Thanks for bringing that up. My heart broke all over again. Whatever happened to the game promised in that video? I was beyond excited for that. But that’s not what we got.

This feels just like a big breakup.

[Suggestion] FotM Difficulty/Loot

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

I’m thinking this might reduce the “LFG FotM, LX” filters:

Let the dungeon difficulty level be set to the highest in the group, yet each individual’s loot table be their own, based on their own dungeon level. That way the level of the other players in the party doesn’t make so much of a difference.

Can anyone think of a reason why this would be a bad thing?

Thanks for saying this. I’ve been feeling the same way, but wasn’t able to describe it so well.

/off topic
I shouldn’t be amazed, yet I continually am, at the intelligence and insight I keep running into. I realize that gamers have a bad reputation (most people seem to think they’re either teenagers playing endlessly in Mom’s basement, or asocial adults playing endlessly in Mom’s basement).

But here’s more evidence that many are thoughtful, well educated people.

Sorry for the almost-threadjack. I’ve just been seeing some very well thought-out and (in some cases) poignant posts here and there.

Well,

What happened to this game was stupid, and this thread sadly has become just as stupid. I’m pretty sure than anyone at ANet who was following this thread lost interest already.

We’ve now moved beyond the “forums are more fun than the game” phase to the “It’s time to finally let it go and do something else” phase.

Cheers, all.

I’m sorry, but those references are too coincidental to just be funny. Thanks for letting us now, ANet.

Anyone mind explaining these, for those not in the know?

All I know is I’m pretty heartbroken, and haven’t logged into GW2 at all this weekend. Not sure if I ever will again. Time will tell. This sort of feels like a breakup: painful, yet something of a relief. No clue why I’m still lurking on the forums. I guess I had a higher emotional investment in the game than I’d realized.

Maybe this wouldn’t have been such an issue if they hadn’t called it “Guild Wars 2”. Using the Guild Wars name kind of sets some expectations.

Oh well. All good things come to an end eventually. Some sooner, some later.

How many people did you invite?

I invited none.

I would have, until the game turned into something it should never have been. I’d talked to a few friends who were excited to try, but then I told them never mind.

Well, the new content has begun, which means I’m done with GW2. You won’t be seeing me playing this weekend.

I spent a lot of time and effort getting exotic sets organized, with the belief that they’d stay relevant for the lifetime of the game.

I thought that if I had to take a break from the game for awhile (my job sends me on the road rather often) I’d be able to pick up where I left off.

Now, this week I find that ArenaNet has surprised us with tier gear and gating mechanisms. I’ll come back and find that my gear is outdated, and I’m not eligible for the same dungeon difficulty levels that everyone else is.

I find that they spin and dodge when asked about these things. Their blog posts leave more questions than answers. But mostly, they say nothing.

Clearly this game isn’t for players like me anymore; some new audience instead.

As a longtime fan who played Guild Wars for thousands of hours over the course of many years, I’m about as crushed as a person can be over a video game.

Goodbye, and good luck, ArenaNet. I’m probably not the only one who can’t bring myself to log in anymore…

So if I understand this correctly, Legendary items will be boosted and become “best-in-slot”.

Someone explain to me why I’d want to play a game that requires that much grind to get “best-in-slot”. I thought Guild Wars was better than that.

Toto, I don’t think we’re in Guild Wars anymore. Thanks for the WoW clone, ArenaNet.

Question: When Will We See The Promised Audio Controls?

So is it accurate for me to assume that ArenaNet’s lack of attention to these Audio forums recently indicates similar lack of attention to fixing these Audio issues?

Question: When Will We See The Promised Audio Controls?

in Audio

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

There’s been a lot of great discussion about making some changes to the audio controls, so we don’t have to put up with the multitude of annoying things mentioned here in these Audio forums (one-liners, squeaking, shouts, etc.).

Several threads have Dev comments saying that some changes are planned.

(See this post by Bobby Stein, for example: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/audio/I-can-outrun-a-centaur/first#post217736 )

While I was initially very pleased with the positive response from the Devs, I’ve been so far disappointed that none of the game updates since live have significantly addressed this. Considering so many people are finding these things aggravating, I’d have expected a higher priority put on making the changes.

When can we expect to to see them? I’d love to turn my sound back on…

Months of Muscle Memory....

Chuo.4238

Devs,

I logged on yesterday after being out of town for a week and was cruelly disappointed….

I appreciate that you’re trying to improve things – but please don’t ever re-arrange skills on the bar again. That’s months of muscle memory I’ve got to re-train. Now I have to keep staring at my UI instead of where I’m going, and out of habit I’m constantly hitting the wrong skills. And please don’t tell me to re-bind them – then they’d be out of sorts when using my other characters and weapons.

If I’m not allowed to arrange my own skills, please just leave them where they are

Cheers

Taking Damage Sounds Question

in Audio

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

Hey guys,

I see there’s been a lot of great discussion about the Audio and a possible future ability to mute our characters.

I’d like to ask: will this include the grunts/squeaks/moans/groans that characters make when they take damage? These sounds are, to me, just as annoying as the repetitive one-liners, although definitely worse with some race/gender combinations (Female Sylvari sound like porn actresses, to be honest, which can get pretty obnoxious after awhile).

I’d LOVE to be able to turn these sounds off, please!

We’ve talked about either implementing a frequency slider or giving people the option to mute player chatter, but it all comes down to programming and UI resources. A few of us wanted it in for ship, but too many higher priority issues needed attention.

Will this work for shouts as well? Please say yes, they’re driving me just as nutty as the one-liners

OK so I’ve got 100% map completion (all POI/Heart/WP/Vista), AND I’ve completed the Explorer achievements for Kryta, Orr, Ascalon, Maguuma, and Shiverpeaks.

My Been There, Done That achievement is sitting on 97% complete.

What else needs to be done?

Shouts

in Audio

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

I see that people are finding all the silly repetitive lines that characters say just as annoying as I am, so aside from pointing it out and asking for some kind of control to turn that off (I don’t want to hear it from my character, or anyone else’s ever again, I’m so tired of it – please don’t simply adjust the frequency – let me turn it off) I’ll say no more about it.

Now on to what I wanted to discuss: shouts.

I’m just as sick of hearing my character shout every time I hear a shout skill. “Retreat” has become the bane of my existence, and I flinch every time I push that button (but it’s my only speed skill so I’m stuck with it). I’m also frustrated with the number of times I have to listen to every other person’s character shout things (“For Great Justice!” comes to mind – 5-10 times a SECOND in large groups!). Can we please remove the sound effects from shouts, or give players the option to turn them off? It’s starting to become the same kind of fingernails-on-a-chalkboard as listening to a 12-year-old play Super Mario for hours on end. Please make it stop

TL:DR – Either remove the sound effects from shouts, or give players the option to do so. I don’t want to hear mine; I don’t want to hear anyone else’s. Please make it stop!

What to do about farming bots and goldsellers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chuo.4238

They’re everywhere. The place is infested. I report them. My friends report them. Yet days later, I still see the same bots and goldsellers out there annoying everyone.

I thought this was a violation of the Terms of Service, yet I still see them days after being reported.

Should I just not bother reporting them any more? What is actually (if anything) being done about this?

LF Classy Guild, Mornings/Daytime NA Time...

in Guilds

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

Hey all,

Trying to find a nice, classy guild of mature folks for some WvW/Dungeon/sPvP fun that has active people in the mornings/daytime North American time. And I’m a little picky, so I don’t mind if you are, too

I am currently fielding a L80 Guardian.

I have my group of online friends, but due to my unusual scheduling, I generally find myself playing alone. I’m sure there are some morning/daytime guilds out there!

Me: I’m well into adulthood, quite friendly, and generally want to enjoy the game with groups. I love WvW and dungeons particularly, and occasionally hop over for some sPvP when I get the competitive urge.

I do want to emphasize WvW – if your guild actually organizes a few people for WvW, and it’s morning/daytime, and you are classy, I’m probably VERY interested in joining you.

I’m very active (I am online most days for at least an hour or two), play hard, and am looking to make some good gaming acquaintances. Essentially, I love the game, and love playing in groups.

I prefer a higher quality of play, but this does not mean that I am elitist, nor am I unwilling to learn or teach. It does mean that I will generally try my best, and that I most enjoy the company of those who feel the same way. I also have a life – which is why I’m not applying to the guilds who expect GW2 to be my life.

I don’t have much tolerance for emo kids, ragers, elitist kittenry, beggars, cheaters, mooches, and general snobbery and hate. So I’m probably not looking for you gigantic guilds who invite anyone. I want to enjoy my game-time, not deal with drama.

I am quite willing to use TeamSpeak/Vent/whatever.

I am quite willing to fill out an application, provided it’s for the purpose of screening out undesirables, not establishing the length of one’s kitten.

I know I just threw out a lot of filters and criteria, but hopefully this saves everyone involved some effort and disappointment!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

(Edit: I am laughing hard at how the forums change some words to ‘kitten’!)
