So GW has a special place in my heart, for a number of reasons, and one day I chose to get some related Ink (Cantha and my GW Ele in particular, as you can see!).

I’m curious if anyone else has anything similar

They HELP me on my daily run when they kill the annoying spiders. It’s not a big help (I wish they would kill or help killing those big annoying mobs that frost me every 2 minutes).

Weirdly, THIS might be why they take action, if they do…

Sort of a bump. Definitely not a necro, given all of the feedback in this thread…

I know I would like to know, and many other players who’ve posted here would, too…

What’s the latest position about Cantha from ArenaNet? Has it changed? Not changed?

Any chance we could get a representative from ArenaNet to comment again about whether or not we might see a Canthan expansion?

For what it’s worth: I’d buy that. Very, very excitedly I’d buy that…

Some options to turn on/off the different parts of the UI, and perhaps (gasp!) the ability to actually MOVE things around would be a very good start in the right direction!

Alternatively, you could let us use addons to do this. If it saves on developmental effort. Just a thought.

You can get rid of the double pointer there by setting the “content guide” in general options to “disable personal story”, which at least restores the arrow pointing to the nearest dynamic event.

Not a fix, but better than nothing. I gotta run through LS2 on one of my characters for just this reason, and I keep putting it off because “too soon”.

Yea it’s annoying.

I love you ArenaNet, I’ve been running around Tyria for over 10 years…but man, the GW2 UI is the worst of any game I’ve ever played, and definitely a big, big step backwards from the far superior GW1 UI. I don’t know why it’s so bad, what the developmental reasoning behind it was, but it feels very, very cheap and lazy.

Curious why more people don't PvP or WvW

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

Hate to say it, but GW2 PvP is boring.

Why? Same thing over and over and over and over.

HA was fun because you could get to the HoH and try to defend it from all comers. And then have your name announced as the winner across the entire game.

GvG and the Guild Ladder were a monthly showcase of fun that anyone interested could watch ingame (or bet some Z-keys on!). And that gold cape trim. That was exclusive, and really cool.

I kinda see where WvW was supposed to be a bigger, better version of AB, but yea, it missed the point and doesn’t really seem to have much to do with the rest of the game. You can’t own a town, for example, or move the front lines for your alliance across the map. I get there are WvW bonuses and stuff but they’re not really noticeable. Having a piece of the map that your guild owns, has their name on it, and a special area only your alliance could go to was pretty cool.

And let’s face it: all WvW is is who can bring the biggest zerg at any given time. Not very interesting for very long, that.

Overall GW2 PvP feels like a very lazy, watered-down version of GW PvP. The things that were interesting about GW PvP don’t really exist in GW2 PvP.

Just my opinion. I was bored of GW2 PvP within a month after launch. Just no hook there to keep my interest. I hate to be so harsh, but ArenaNet did a much better job of it in Guild Wars, and seemed to have missed the point in GW2.

The Dreamer: Sound complaint

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

They could associate the weapons sounds with player instruments. We DID get a control for that.

Exactly where I was going with this. Tie the weapons into the instrument slider, or make a separate weapon slider.

The ability to mute player chatter was very, very much appreciated. Same with instruments. I think muting the weapons would pretty much cover all of the really obnoxious player noises.

The Dreamer is consistent with the wings and auras and quaggan caps, plus SAB weapons and so on.

Well, yes. Except for that horrific noise. Basically my speakers are overtaken by screeching ponies.

I think I’d prefer a quieter variety of very immersive rainbow pony.

It’s easily the most annoying sound in the entire game, but I don’t want to have to mute all the cool stuff to make it go away.

Ever get this? When you thought you actually had an enemy targeted? In fact, you know you did, because you’ve been beating on it a little while?

But then suddenly, you are targeting nothing. What’s going on here? This is driving me nuts.

Before you ask:
I did not press TAB in the middle of the fight (and if I did, it wouldn’t clear my target – it would just choose a different one, I do believe).

My targeting-related settings (under F11) are:
Ground Targeting: Normal
Double-Click to Attack/Interact: checked
Right-Click to Attack/Interact: not checked
Stop Autoattacking on Target Change: checked
Autotargeting: not checked
Promote Skill Target: checked

Anyone know why I keep dropping targets mid-combat?

IMHO, we’ve not got too many dailies. The game is starting to get very repetitive. It’s hard to organize group stuff because many of my guildies don’t have time for anything but dailies any more.

They’re taking the fun from the game. Please, if anything, remove them…

OR

How about an option where we can just hide the list of dailies on the UI? I don’t want to do them, I don’t want to ever see them.

Please!

UI Question - How To Turn Off That Text

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

Hello all,

On most of my toons, I’ve got precisely zero interest in finishing personal story, LS2, or any of that green text that shows up on the side of my screen.

I also have no interest in dailies, so I don’t want to see any of that text, either, ever.

I’ve been going nuts trying to figure out how to permanently turn that stuff off and declutter my screen, and I can’t. All I ever want to see are local events. Nothing else. Does someone know?

I’ve tried quitting story episodes. The text reappears with a map change.

I’ve tried clicking the tracking toggle (eye symbol) for dailies – always “Daily Completionist” is there, no matter what.

I’ve tried every option in the “Content Guide” pulldown menu on the Options (F11) panel.

Any ideas, anyone?

Chuo.4238

Hi all,

As game director I have to make tough trade-offs. One thing I believe is that we have to focus on the core game first before taking on additional responsibilities. I wrote in the Guild Wars 2 Design Manifesto in 2010 that our vision was to create a living, dynamic world, where there’s always something to do. Let’s ensure we succeed on that front.

Mo

Ain’t gonna lie, I’m a bit shocked to see you bring this up. I sorta thought the Manifesto got beaten completely to death in the first year after release.

But hey, we can go there again. For reference:

After 3 1/2 years, is anyone really surprised at any of this?

Just asking. ArenaNet have been operating in panic mode since beta.

Everything has always felt rushed,

There’s very little overall attention to detail (except for very specific things you can tell a specific dev put some specific love into, all by her/himself),

Every fix breaks something else, and every content delivery is (somehow) just not what we were led to believe was coming.

All I can say is enjoy the game as you can, or don’t and do something else. High expectations from ArenaNet have only led to disappointment for a long time now. They’re obviously perpetually flailing.

Hello,

Not sure where to put this – not technically a bug or exploit, but is is a problem that can prevent completion of The Shatterer event.

Seems people are finding it fun to put interactable toys (Aviator’s Fun Boxes, Jars of Bees, etc.) on top of the launchers at the Shatterer events, making it very difficult if not impossible to use the launchers, thereby making the event itself more difficult or impossible.

I was afraid to post this for fear other such people would get ideas, but here it is, and here’s hoping ArenaNet look into it

Hello all,

Been trying to get my raid fix on with my current guild all this time, and just can’t manage it because I live on a different continent than the rest of them!

So, I figure it’s time for me to look elsewhere – I can raid most days, starting the raid between 9am and 9pm server time. I’m a bit flexible either way. We can iron out details once we talk.

I can bring a fully ascended Chrono, or a Guardian/DH with Ascended weapons, accessories, rings, and amulet.

I am also very friendly, quite experienced raiding in other MMOs, prefer calm and fun to raging, and can be kitten helpful. Yes, I will use TS, Mumble, whatever you have.

Best I’ve done in GW2 so far is with pugs, about a 5% wipe on VG, and a couple pulls of Gors.

Happy to learn your strat, and I do know how to use Google and YouTube

Suggestion:

Can the sound effects caused by The Dreamer (that very high-pitched screech) be turned down somehow without turning down every effect?

I don’t own a Dreamer, but I find it very obnoxious when anyone who does have one is near me.

I don’t want to have to lose out on enjoying so many other effects because that one drives me bonkers – it is so very immersion breaking, annoying, and just takes away from the experience of everything else going on when there’s a Dreamer around…it’s seriously the most annoying video game sound effect I’ve ever experienced…and that’s considering I’ve been subjected to endless hours of kids on an NES…it’s that obnoxious

I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer…not trying to complain or gripe too much…I generally want to enjoy the game…just please…that sound is…yea

Can that particular sound be given its own volume slider, or mute button, or added to the “Player Instrument Volume” volume slider?
