This is why RNG blows, when it’s the only way to get a Legendary. So they solved that for us: spend money buying gold at the gem store!

The only people that really know what the numbers are on any given day are ArenaNet, and they’re not going to tell. They don’t have to, and it would be bad for business. I’m not sure what the speculation here really achieves.

It’s a good game, or it isn’t, or they’ve wrecked it, or they haven’t, or something. We’ll know in 2013 whether this game is going to be as big and energetic as Guild Wars was.

I’d love to see ArenaNet do whatever it takes to make this game the next mega-mmo. I don’t know if they will. I don’t think it’s too late for that, but I do believe that they need to get cracking or they’ll lose the opportunity.

Time will tell.

Well I would expect my guild leader to be a leader and not make simple mistakes such as this, YOUR IN TIME OUT!

But how are we supposed to know that making a change like that has such far reaching results? Good interface design doesn’t allow mistakes like this to occur without, at the very least, asking for confirmation.

Absolutely agree. That’s sloppy programming that should never have made it past the BWE’s. I am super curious why they won’t help the OP. It’s not like they couldn’t just verify the story and then change the Guild Leader back.

So fellow forum members, what kind of LFG tool would you propose?

gw2lfg.com is perfect. Kudos to the person who made it. Shame on ArenaNet for not taking a couple hours and doing it themselves.

It’s a waste of time for ArenaNet to even bother with a LFG tool now. They may as well just buy the site and hire the person that made it to do the easy, simple, common-sense things that need to be done (and should have been done since launch).

ArenaNet, Communication, and 3rd Party Sites

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Chuo.4238

I don’t have a problem with them using 3rd party sites.

The problem I have at the moment is announcements/comments/clarifications etc. can appear here, on Facebook, on Twitter, on Reddit, on the official site and probably in a couple of other places and there doesn’t seem to be any consistency to it. So if you want to keep on top of things you either have to rely on other players re-positing it or keep checking 4 or 5 different websites on the off-chance they’ve said something relevant.

IMO they can post things wherever they want but they should either have a consistent system or 1 place where absolutely all the posts get copied so we can find them easily.

Yea that’s exactly what I’m saying. No issue if they use 3rd party sites, but everything posted on such sites should be also posted on guildwars2.com

ArenaNet, Communication, and 3rd Party Sites

Chuo.4238

I’m always glad to see that a dev is communicating. I’m definitely not saying, “stop using Reddit or other websites to communicate”.

But today, I find another example of ArenaNet addressing one of my concerns on Reddit, and not on guildwars2.com.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/18yld3/are_the_total_makeover_kits_still_bugged_for/

I wouldn’t have known about it if another person hadn’t told me about it.

What I am saying is that I think whenever you DO communicate, you need to post it here, too. This is the official GW2 site, and it makes sense that this is where I go when I want to find information.

I don’t want to have to go through lots of 3rd party sites like Reddit and GW2guru and whatever else. Some people like that, but I don’t. It’s very frustrating to find that you don’t communicate on your own website, yet you do elsewhere.

TL:DR Please, ArenaNet, if you have something to say elsewhere, say it here, too. Or create a subforum and post links to sites you’ve posted on.

Free tip from a communication specialist.

Chuo.4238

Why don’t you try: “LF4M FotM, Engies Only” ?

Edit: Sorry I’m not trolling or being facetious. It’s honestly what I’d do if I had this problem. I’ve no doubt that a party of engies would do just fine, and it’s ignorant elitism that drives people to refuse a particular class. I’m well into high level fractals, and have had no issues with party members of any class.

Moreover, when people are being unreasonably exclusive, I’ve no desire to play with them. It’s a total drag.

Jeez, my edit is longer than my post…I’ll pipe down now. GL, OP!

Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone explain if something in the game has changed, or what I may be doing to cause this? It’s driving me insane.

Quality VS Quantity

I wonder why anyone thinks ESO will be any less buggy than any other MMO that’s come out in the last five years.

Nothing has been as buggy as GW2.

So a few of you have disagreed with my statement, and I agree it’s a pretty general statement that can’t really be backed up by anything.

So how about this then? In the games I’ve played at launch (there have been 5 of them), all have been buggy to one degree or another, but none have had bugs that affected me so frequently as GW2.

I realize it’s a complex operation. Many large organizations are complex operations. That’s where good management skills come in.

Anyway, the point is, I’d rather them take more time on making existing content smoother, and put more care and attention to detail into their patches and expansions, than to just keep adding content that’s of the same quality we’ve seen so far.

Lots of frustrating content isn’t nearly as fun as a smaller amount of good, solid content.

Chuo.4238

You’re not the only one who thinks they just need to stop with the new content until they get their game fixed. This wasn’t even close to being ready for release, and it’s still got a partially-done feel and lacks a LOT of attention to detail that should have been in at release.

Quality is far better than quantity. There are many games out there to choose from (quantity). I want the good one (quality).

Sadly, this game is probably going to be set aside for a better quality one that may be released soon. Hopefully ArenaNet wake up and get some things done right, and with great care. Otherwise it’s never going to be the next super-MMO. Which is sad, because it could have been (and still could, but that hourglass is almost empty).

Step one: fix bugs and incomplete content.
Step two: when you DO release something, don’t break 3 other things (which seems to be the MO around here since launch).

While I can appreciate the frustration of the OP (taking the story at face value here), I don’t think that ArenaNet is responsible for the behaviour of others, nor is it there job to police this beyond gross infractions of the ToS.

Making the party kick system require more than 2 votes would no doubt help, but it’s never going to solve the problem of a group of 4 kicking the 5th for a guildie.

Best advice I have: be polite, friendly, and play as best you can. Help people when they need it, and listen to those who are willing to help you. For every one who behaves like this, there will be one less jerk out there, and the community will be better for it.

2 – Fix the character art bugs and Makeover kit bugs

3 – COMMUNICATE. I don’t know if you realize this, but your community is howling for you to be a part of it. Be involved in these forums, expecially with those topics that just keep coming up (RNG, Grind, Mystic Forge,). Get on here and SAY SOMETHING. Take a stand, stop being silent, get off the fence.

4 (bonus points, no programming required) – Ask the moderators to never, ever again change the topic title of someone’s post to “In my view…”

Changing what people type is obviously your right as the owner of these forums, but I’d suggest being very cautious about doing so. While it’s no doubt done with a professional intent, it comes across as childish, and makes it look like you’re confidence in your product is so low that you fear criticism and are unwilling to listen to your players. Sure, remove the flame war posts and trolling, but let people keep their opinions.

It’s just annoying when you’re busy with stuff and sometimes you just can’t log in. I log in whenever I can and enjoy playing but sometimes I’m just so overloaded with work that I preferred the old system where I would miss a few dailies and all I miss out on are karma jugs. Now I feel forced to log in every day and rush the daily just so that I’m not being left behind. I’m all for rewarding players that are dedicated and play more than me with minor rewards but I wish they gave us other ways to get the ascended necklaces.

The Zaishen system in GW1 had it right, you could buy zkeys with coins (essentially laurels) you got from dailies but you could also buy them with balthazar faction/tourney reward points.

Agree 100% on this. The only way to get ascended amulets is to do dailies/monthlies.

This is a gear grind, folks. I don’t care how easy or hard it is. You are required to log in a specific number of days and do specific tasks in order to get the best tier gear. I just want to play the game my way, like they said in the Manifesto. But no, I’m supposed to be spending my logged on time doing specific things so I can have gear with the best stats.

Gear grind. Saying it’t not a gear grind doesn’t change the fact that it is.

Make an option to turn off or make a slider for “weapon sounds” in game. Problem solved.

We’ve been asking for sliders/toggles for all kinds of annoying sounds since the BWE’s. I don’t think they’re going to do it. I have no idea what they have against it, but it seems to be the case.

There have been concerns in this thread that the sounds are gone in their entirety, but internal testing has shown that this is not the case. While they are quieter now, they are audible at default volume levels except during intense combat, and the impact sounds for the weapon are also intact…

We hope you agree that erring on the side of caution is for the best.

As always, we thank you for feedback about issues like this which concern you, the players!

I do agree that erring on the side of caution is best. For anyone who’s ever had kids who play a gaming system, you know that the sounds can drive you bonkers after awhile. When in doubt, no sound is better. Although I don’t understand why this game is so opposed to customization.

TBH, I just don’t like dailies at all – especially when doing them is the only way to get something (ascended amulets, at the moment). It’s kind of like a gear grind/treadmill.

Edit: I suppose it’s become obvious that, despite the fact that “we don’t make grindy games”, they’re going to keep the grind/low-odds RNG/gear treadmill going for the life of the game. So I don’t think there’s any point in discussing it any more. They’re not listening to us.

I’m sure people out there have this much money to spare. Most, however, do not. So, given the number of legendaries I’ve seen and the number of people that can spare this much money, I think it is a pretty safe bet that anyone that has a legendary has earned it.

True, it’s not pocket change. And true, there are no doubt some people who can (and have) afford this. So the possibility of buying a legendary with real money exists. Which takes away from the ingame achievement of crafting a Legendary. Because whenever I see one, I have to wonder.

All players, because of this, are not on a level playing field. Just like in real-life, those with more money can have more of what they want.

But I don’t play a fantasy game because I want it to be like real life…

I want precursors to be Account Bound.

So you completely have to rely on RNG? That’s not really better.

RNG is a different issue from TP prices. I’ll tell you my position on both:

TP Prices: I don’t think people should be able to purchase legendaries or precursors. It completely cheapens the accomplishment of getting a Legendary, and eliminates any real prestige value to it.

RNG: I think that precursors should be craftable, and a major component of the recipe should include account bound items. I’m happy for there to be a a chance of a drop, as well, but there should be a way to craft one and get around the RNG altogether, without “buying” it being an option.

The only “issue” is that people are confused about what a prestige item is. The only reason they want it is because it’s unique and hard to get, but they want it to be easier to get, so that… wait for it… it will be less prestigious, and thus, less valuable.

Legendaries are not prestigious at all. You can buy one with real money, which means you didn’t work for it ingame, and says nothing about your dedication as a player. I laugh at people who purchased one, and feel terrible for those who worked for them and had their achievement cheapened.

Legendaries and Precursors should have always been Account Bound. ArenaNet should admit they made a mistake and make them Account Bound. This whole gems for gold thing is really beginning to turn me off.
