I think the infighting has died down because the number of people on the forums has died down.

No, I don’t have access to any metrics on this, it’s just a guess. But it’s a good guess, because these forums are much, much quieter than they used to be.

I was silently hoping for a good fix for precursor prices and/or scavenger hunt for this update. Who am I kidding though, 700g for a precursor is ofcourse completely how it was intended. I’ve been sitting on my 3 gifts since December, waiting for the scavenger hunt and throwing rares into the forge occasionally hoping for a lucky break wich I have never gotten, and never will most likely.

Is this precursor scavenger hunt even being worked on anymore though? All I remember hearing was “Don’t expect it before the March update” and it’s April now. An update on this matter would be appreciated.

I’m planning my third legendary now…I’m having trouble feeling too much sympathy over precursors anymore. Yes, they’re high, but it’s do-able.

As a casual who’s planning his first legendary in about a year from now, I share your viewpoint. The precursor hate is a bit irrational.

Not really. I’d be happy to do a long, drawn-out scavenger hunt (like the Black Moa Chick one from GW on steroids, for example) or some other interesting thing. Instead I can choose from:

a) Break out my credit card and buy enough gems to get a precursor (no doubt what ANEt is trying to get me to do)

b) Grind my kitten off to make hundreds of gold to buy one (boooooooring, sorry, I’m finding way better things to do in RL that that kind of crap)

or

c) Keep chucking the random golds/exotics that occasionally drop in to the MF and hope for good RNG (so it may happen, but most likely won’t).

My dislike for all those options is not remotely irrational. I’m willing to work for a legendary. I’m not willing to spend real money, grind the same crap over and over, or hope I win the Mystic Toilet lottery. All three of those options are beyond fail, and there’s nothing challenging or interesting about any of it.

You’d think if they had time to make Super Adventure Boxes and F&F such they could find the time to come up with challenging and interesting ways to get precursors. The fact that they shelved the Scavenger Hunt idea indefinitely tells me that they’re trying to get us to spend real money for our precursors. Good business decision? Maybe. Good gaming decision? Uberfail.

Temporary content is FLUFF, plain and simple.
A waste of precious dev time IMHO.

ANet has to start getting much smarter with their Living Story Event system. So that all this content doesn´t just vanish uselessly after some time.

How?
As I´m the one paying ANet to come up with good gamedesign, I don´t really see why I should do their job in this regard too.

To borrow what kokiman posted earlier: “Entitlement overload at its best.”

Not really. Entitlement is when you expect something you didn’t pay for. HawkMeister feels he should be getting something for his money that he isn’t getting. So it’s not an entitlement mentality.

You may or may not agree with his opinion, but calling it “Entitlement” is quite incorrect.

Because it’s harder to fix stuff that’s not working than it is to program it in the first place. That’s where all the time is going.

You know this game launched with lots fo bugs. Lots of bugs have been fixed, and it STILL has lots of bugs. Apparently the culling issue was much worse than anyone thought it would be. People were tied up in that problem for months, trying to get it to work.

I’m not saying you should be 100 positive or 100% negative, but be realistic. I’ve yet to see ANY MMORPG launch with the amount of content this game launched with. Whether you like the updates or not, there has been more content since launch, including the fractals. The Halloween and Christmas things, not everyone’s cup of tea, were well received by many.

The living story thing is underwhelming I agree completely. I also think it’s a slow start for some very cool stuff they plan to do. And I really like stuff like the Guild missions, even if the bounties are hit and miss. My guild has succeeded most of the times. We just unlocked guild rushes, which we’re going to do this week. My wife did one with another guild and said it was great fun.

I liked SAB. A lot of people didn’t, but a lot of people did too. There’s plenty of content here…but it’s never enough. There hasn’t been enough time yet for people to do what needs to be done.

And new programmers and artist are being hired, but they still have to be trained. Throwing more bodies at stuff doesn’t necessarily make it faster.

You are pretty much right, but I think that at this point, going on 8 months since launch, ArenaNet have kind of developed a reputation (notoriety?) about a few things, which has sapped away much of the patience and goodwill of the community.

So here’s my little conspiracy theory:

1) True or not, a great number of people feel that the game they got is not the one that was advertised/expected from a Guild Wars title. (mediocre sPvP, no GvG, gear grind, etc.)

2) True or not, they have a reputation now for not listening to the community if they don’t have to. Which is a shame considering how interactive they were with Guild Wars.

3) True or not, they have a reputation for being slow with bug-fixing and heavy-handed with exploit-fixing. The general feeling, from the people I game with, is that every time something is fixed, something else gets broken.

4) With F&F, they’re getting a reputation for not delivering on promises of “an expansions’ worth of new content”. Rather, it’s a big yawn-fest, and a very, very, long, boring, drawn-out leadup to whatever conclusion we’re about to see.

5) The way the gem store works (money → gems →gold) really gives the impression of “pay-to-win”. Especially when you can only get a precursor through RNG or stupid amounts of gold.

What does this mean? Whether they’re doing it all right or not, whether they have the best intentions or not, ANet is getting a mediocre to bad reputation. It’s amplified by how much of a fall it is from their good reputation from Guild Wars.

People like me aren’t really willing to be as patient with ArenaNet as they were right after launch. Everything they do is going to be picked apart. And let’s face it, the only glowing moment they’ve had since launch is the SAB. It had it’s small group of detractors, but mostly people really like it. Which, in a healthy game, is how all new content releases should be.

TL:DR – ANet has (deservedly or not) developed a negative reputation in many aspects, leading people to be less patient and understanding with their content releases.

PS: Lately I spend more time on the forums than in game. It’s more social and more fun. I like forums. I just don’t much like the game. And I used to vigorously defend it to the naysayers!

The dungeon is the only thing here that remotely interests me. The rest is just pointless fluff, and programming time that could have been spent working on the meat of the game.

And seriously. Paying for custom arenas. Well, we can duel now! If we pay them. Hooray? Anyone seen the gold to gem conversion lately? Anyone else feel like they’re doing everything they can to annoy us into spending money?

The banners? Seriously? I mean, seriously? Who thought THAT up? What on Tyria was wrong with capes? Why the flags that look like we’re about to be served at a burger joint?

I’m not whining, I’m not QQ-ing, I’m just facepalming. I’m curious what the decision-making process is. That’s probably going to be the most fascinating thing about this.

Liked: Halloween , then SAB.

There rest range from disappointing (Wintersday totally lacked that festive feeling that GW Wintersdays have) to awful (Lost Shores / Ascended Gear – ruined the game).

I guess the ones not specifically mentioned here fall into “mediocre”, usually because they’re breaking something for every thing they fix, and the content is not interesting at all.

Do you still do Dailies every day?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Chuo.4238

Chuo.4238

No. I got behind on them a while back because of work, and then I realized that it’s going to take months and months to gear up my toons. I gave up.

Honestly, I don’t even really log on any more. The longest I’ve been ingame in weeks is about 5 minutes. I usually just check to see who is on, but mostly, nobody is. My friends and I are rather bored with the time-gated grind, RNG, and all the other stuff that apparently people aside from us want in their MMO experience.

But I said that to say this: dailies are what got me frustrated to the point that I really just gave up on the game. It’s just more gear grind, and it takes forever to gear up a set of alts. I really don’t feel like spending months “preparing to have fun” (Mike O’brien).

And at some point we realized that someone would log on and we’d say “let’s go do X together”, and the usual response would be “after I do the dailies”. Once we figured out what was going on there (we were doing something other than what we wanted to do), we realized how stupid that psychology is and pretty much quit playing.

Dailies are a freakin’ job. Not fun.

I miss Guild Wars.

Edit: for all you who are going to say, “yes, but they are easy to do.” You are correct. They are quite easy to do. What bothers me is I can only get one laurel per day, and I need laurels to get tier gear. It’s time-gated grind. I just want to go to the dang armor merchant, like in Guild Wars, and buy my final armor set so I can get on with actually doing what I want to do, and not what ArenaNet is trying to get me to do.

Dailies are meant to keep people playing. They actually have the opposite effect on me.

If someone needs to be good at a video game (or so OCD that they practically live in the game) in order to feel better than other people, then they must really suck at real life. My advice to them: get some friends, go play some sport, go to the gym, go shopping, work hard at your studies/job, GTFO of the computer room, or get some counseling.

To the OP: I’m not fussed about it. I just don’t play with people like that. There are plenty of nice folks out there who are great at the game, and very, very respectful of others. Find some of them.

To ArenaNet (and other studios) – don’t cater to elitists. They’re going to find a way to be jerks no matter what you do, so just make a fun game that encourages friendly cooperation.

You can defend it all you like, fine, it’s your opinion, and it’s unlikely to change mine. I don’t like gear grind (imo this game has gear grind so don’t bother), I don’t like sloppy programming, and I’m really, really not impressed with the way all roads seem to lead to the cash shop.

This isn’t true. Anet’s loyalty isn’t to the WoW playerbase. Anet’s loyalty is to keeping the game alive. If you worked on a game for years, and had big plans for it, you’d want to keep it alive too.

In an ideal universe, they could do this by sticking with plan A, but plan A wasn’t working. People really weren’t interested in working just for cosmetic gear…at least not enough of them.

This isn’t personal. Anet didn’t plan for this to happen. They tried it with only cosmetic gear and it didn’t have player retention.

Let me ask you…if you owned a restaurant and you could add dishes or change dishes that would give you a much bigger clientele, would you not change it, just because some people that have been eating there for years might object?

Anet doesn’t owe you anything. You bought a game from them. You played the game. You got value from the game. Anet has some big ideas for Guild Wars 2, but it’s going to take money to make those ideas come true.

Whether this is true, or not, it’s not going to change my opinion of the game. To be honest, when it comes to keeping people playing, I think ArenaNet are their own worst enemy. They have this fantastic talent for irritating players lately.

That aside, I’m sure they’re doing whatever they think they need to to maximise profits. Among other things, this is resulting in a game that’s becoming more and more like the games I don’t like. And from reading these forums, I’m certainly not the only one. And if I’m in a minority, it’s a rather large minority. Absolutely none of my Guild Wars friends think GW2 is better. None. Not scientific, sure, but it still says something.

How does this affect your game?

To be honest, I’m probably just looking for reasons to give it up. I had years of fun in Guild Wars, and tried pretty much everything that game had to offer. I played quite a few other games as well, but always kept coming back to Guild Wars.

Essentially, most of the reasons that kept me interested in Guild Wars aren’t here in GW2. I realize that they’re trying to make money by appealing to a larger crowd, but for me, that means it’s more like the games I didn’t like, because Guild Wars was better.

I had a great social time in Guild Wars as well. We (my old guildies/alliance mates) are generally disappointed in GW2, and feel it’s kind of sold out on us. Most don’t log on any more. The rest log on rarely. I think our (smallish) guild finally went dead when we realized that the guild missions were going to be more frustrating to unlock and activate than it was really worth. We’re still in touch, but mostly are playing other things until something comes along that grabs us like Guild Wars did.

So yea. I suppose I’m hanging on because of how great a time we had in Guild Wars. I keep hoping that ArenaNet will go back to that. But they’re a very different company now, with different ownership and priorities. And I can see where GW2 could have been great, but they just don’t seem to have the courage to get quite that far outside the box.

Anyway. Whoever had the patience to read that probably is wondering why they bothered.

TL:DR – I guess I’m just looking for reasons to finally leave, now, and one tends to find what one seeks.

I guess I have to add the new leaderboards to my list of disappointments. In fact, I think this was the straw that finally drove me away.

I haven’t logged in for more than a couple minutes in over a week. No desire to play anymore.

I liked my anonymity. Thanks, again, ArenaNet, for making your game more like WoW.

Guild Wars 1 had leaderboards in challenge missions. I’m not very sure how this is different. It had a ladder for guilds too.

The stuff that WoW has is far more/completely different from this. This is relatively harmless compared to something like gear-score.

Particularly if you’re a PvP, you need something to compete FOR. PvPers have been asking for this. Even in Guild Wars 1 this would have been welcomed by the PvP crowd.

Frankly, I could have done without the achievement leaderboard, but I don’t see why it’s an issue for anyone.

The difference, for me, is for whom it’s designed to appeal. The challenge missions, guild ladders, and the scrolling “XXXX has won a battle in the Hall of Heroes” were all to inspire competitive group play, and it was the group entities that were recognized.

When you devolve to individual competition, you’re now appealing to a lower standard of human behaviour. Instead of encouraging teamplay, you’re promoting the individual, and discouraging people from acting together. Moreover, you’re appealing to the obsessive types, and rewarding such behaviour.

Now I realize that nobody is making anyone do anything here, but I’d much rather see things that encourage teambuilding and cooperation, rather than one-uppsmanship. It’s a big turnoff. I can get that crap anywhere.

I’m not having fun in it any more. I’ll log on to do group activities, but more often than not, my friends are not online. We are finding other things to play.

To be honest, this game has some brilliant ideas, but the implementation is mediocre, and the radical change in philosophy over Guild Wars has really turned me off. The only reason I’ve not abandoned the game altogether is because of Guild Wars.

But the sPvP is pathetic compared to Guild Wars. I don’t think any of the great PvP’ers from GW are here any more.

WvW is interesting, but doesn’t hold my attention for long. Unfortunately, I think the really quality players have moved on because it simply wasn’t ready for release, and it took ANet too long to fix the culling and other issues (exploits).

The PvE is good for what it is, but the lack of mission instances like GW had leaves me just as bored as every other MMO has after exploring the world. Hearts are no different than quests in other games, really. DE’s are a good idea, but I’d thought that they’d be changed over time as the world progresses. Yet I find the same old DE’s every time I go to any zone.

Gameplay mechanics are frustrating. My character randomly changes targets. The trait system is nice, but the skill/weapon system is limiting and ultimately, repetitively boring.

RNG for precursors. Big fail. Big, big, big, big fail.

5-person instances. Big fail.

Tier gear. No thanks. Other games do it better, but I played GW because I hated that. Thanks for the bait-and-switch there, ANet. Especially since it’s a serious grindfest to equip multiple characters. Whatever happened to grinding for skins, only, and not gear? What ever happened to “we don’t make grindy games”?

5 guilds at once, but no alliances. Possibly the biggest fail.

SAB – neat idea.

So really, the ArenaNet of today is not the great ArenaNet of Guild Wars. I don’t like where they’re taking the game, and I don’t think they really have much ability to manage this project. Everything seems half-done, rushed, and not ready.

GW2 is a mile wide, yet an inch deep. No wonder people are so bored with it already.

GWAMM 50/50. Loved GW2 at launch. Have been very disappointed in the direction it’s taken since November. Enjoyed Halloween, thought Wintersday was not nearly as awesome as GW Wintersday is. SAB is fun. sPvP is an embarassment.

I love all the innovative things about the game. I can’t stand all that makes it like other MMO’s.

So overall, GW2 is pretty good, but mostly a let down because it could have been great.

Is it wrong of me to be laughing at ArenaNet because, once again, there’s a website out there doing it better?

How long did it take you to do that? How many people did it require? How much were they paid? If you don’t mind me asking. I’m willing to bet you did it faster, better, and for less money than ArenaNet did.

I did the first version in 2 hours + I streamed it (there is a video here: http://www.twitch.tv/turshija/c/2137971), after that I invested 2-3 more hours into polishing it and adding features
That doesn’t mean I am “smarter” then Anet engineers that did that, it only means I had some spare time to make a tool I needed + uploaded it online so that everyone can use it .. I’m sure Anet devs can make that even better, but they are a small team of devs with many tasks, so they can’t invest too much time into one feature …

You have to keep in mind that this player is only displaying data that already is out there, copy pasta is very very easy to do. Anet is doing much more than just putting the list out there, they are calculating your elo, showing you how far up or down you are moving in the ladder between updates, and a ton of behind the scene stuff that makes the whole leaderboard work in the first place. Remember there are millions of accounts in gw2, the fansite is only looking at 1,000 players while arenanet is looking at the 3+ million accounts they have. If you notice in this thread issues with the webpage are getting fixed relatively quickly, look a few posts up about the error on an erroneous value entered by a user, now it just lands you on the first page of the leaderboard.

I agree – he didn’t invent the data….but it took him (one person) about 2 hours to make it actually useful. Why couldnt ANet find 2 hours to do this?

Agree with Vayne.

I know the bug you’re talking about in Orr. What I find funny is that the monsters these people are running around killing in the hopes of better loot are no different than the monsters that are in the area anyway. The loot table on these monsters isn’t any different. Yet people get all excited about it because it’s a bug.

Ever seen people in dungeons insist on some exploit that actually is more of a pain in the kitten than just playing the dungeon the normal way? I see this all the time. And you can’t tell them that it’s easier just to play it right. They have to have their exploit.

I’ve no idea why people get all excited about this kind of thing, but they sure do.

You are now ArenaNet's lead designer.

I just said experienced game designer.

Mate, they don’t have a problem with design and programming talent. They have a management problem. They need people who can manage.

The attention to detail in this game is sometimes extremely high, and sometimes non-existent. You can tell when different people designed different things. They can’t release new content without breaking things. Their reactions to exploiters are generally knee-jerk. Their priorities are inconsistent (for example – they encourage group play with guild challenges, yet toss group play out the window with individual leaderboards).

My point is, it’s obvious as hell that there is no one guiding hand setting the policy and vision for this game. The lack of leadership to keep it under control, consistent, and focused is preventing this game from adding any real depth to it. It’s a mile wide, yes, but only an inch deep.

They don’t need designers. They need a really good project manager. Oh, and a solid philosophy to provide focus.

yeah, but do the older generations have enough time in their lives to drive an mmo? that’s the concern. And the average gamer of my generation is like that. If somethings bad, theirs something better. WoW was able to succeed because before than the mmo genre wasn’t really accessible to the general audience. Being the first mmo to appeal to the general audience made a big impact and they capitalized on it. Anet apparently thinks that this same audience can be tapped into, but they(the audience) have way higher expectations. I see a lot of people mmo-hop now. They play all the free ones that are online and once one becomes boring, there is a handful of other ones to pass the time.

Yep, a lot of older people have time to drive an MMO. More than you think. Because we stopped watching TV. lol

Seriously I think you’d be stunned.

Agree…while I don’t consider myself “older” just yet, I am far into my Thirties. I don’t watch TV – it’s noninteractive and generally asinine. I haven’t paid for cable or any other such service since the mid 1990’s.

So while I have a very full time job, and a family, I have time to play video games. Perhaps not the 30 hours a week or more that college students and other young people can, but it’s still more than you’d think. Oh, and I’ve got disposable income. Much more than most 20-somethings. They very definitely aim games (or aspects of them) at my age group.

Hey, we’re the first generation in the world to have grown up with video games…and believe it or not…many of those Atari 2600 through NES games, and especially the early arcade games, are more fun to me than the stuff you get in today’s market…

Super Adventure Box, anyone?

Edit: off topic. ScottBroChill, I normally have no clue how to interact with your generation. You guys tend to think on entirely different frequencies (not good or bad, just different). That said, you’re pretty well spoken and bring up good points. Keep it up.

I very much agree with ScottBroChill that just because a company says they are doing well, doesn’t mean they are. These things can affect share values, and the like.

Which brings me back to my original point. We don’t know, and we have no way of knowing.

There’s however less assumptions to be made if we assume that there’s no conspiracy theories, and you know what that means.

The only thing that I’m assuming is that I don’t have all the facts, nor is there a way for me to obtain them.

That’s not an assumption. That’s a fact; none of us have access to all of it.

Given what evidence we do have however, one scenario is more likely to be true than another, that being that there is no conspiracy theory. The possibility that there isn’t one requires less assumptions.

This is true, but I’m still not going to believe something just because someone says it. Especially not when they have a vested interest in me believing it. Without other, impartial evidence, I really have nothing to go on.

And I’m certainly not going to accept something as true just because its more possible or likely than a different scenario.

This isn’t conspiracy theorizing. It’s just common sense.

Suppose there’s a scenario in a store where there’s a broken window and a missing cash register. Most people would say there’s been a break in and a theft.

There are alternative theories though, such as someone stayed inside the store and used the cash register to smash the window then walked away with it.

Are you saying you’re not going to believe the first theory? Kind of what you’re doing here really.

Why would Anet want you, someone who is already a player, believe whatever you think they want you to believe? What might they have to gain from it? I’d prefer to believe something that has a higher possibility of being true than believe something less likely to be true.

I’d say call the police and let them sort it out.

Look, companies are going to say all is well right up until the day they file Chapter 11. So they’re going to say it no matter what. Why? It affects share value. Money.

This is how it is, all over the world, with all sorts of companies.

I’m not trying to be contrary or overly suspicious. I’m just pointing out that we cannot use anything someone says, in particular about themselves, and especially when there’s some kind of interest or gain that can be affected by what is said, as evidence for anything.

Accepting that sort of thing as evidence is no more valid that believing that what your particular guild or group of friends are doing ingame is indicative of the entire community.

That’s all.

So we don’t know how GW2 is actually doing. We never will.

But if you looked at the scene yourself, which theory do you think would have a higher chance of occurring?

To say “we will never know how GW2 is actually doing” isn’t a very good conclusion. Yes, we will never know 100%, but we can have ideas, and some ideas are more likely to be true than others. Chances are Anet did increase server populations due to a rising number of players because it’s more evident that did happen than the otherwise.

In retrospect, it’s like saying “we’ll never know how the theft took place” even though the evidence points to the first theory.

Sure. Doing this is how people decide whether to buy or sell their shares. And while I might think there’s the possibility to make a bit of a profit here, I’m not going to bet a large amount on this kind of speculation, though.

Mostly, though, I’ll play the game if I enjoy it, and move on if I don’t. I’m about ready to move on.

And why did the just expand server volume to hold more people on various servers? That might be a better question.

Did they? Or has the name changed from “full” to “very high”?

No, I’m not a conspiracy theorist, and I’m not advocating tinfoil hats. I AM saying, however, that it’s not hard to create a perception that’s different from reality, and people often do…so I tend to ask myself questions before accepting some things at face value.

So my point is, we really don’t know, and there’s no way for us to figure it out.

If Guild Wars 2 is doing so badly and the game is dying, why is Anet hiring?

Perhaps employees are leaving to go elsewhere? This could be a double-edged sword, so it doesn’t really tell us anything.

Although there are a few prominent people out there who used to work for them. But I’ll let you do your own Googling so I’m not naming names…

Leaderboards Have Been Released!

I know this post isn’t very constructive, but it’s indicative of how I feel right now.

It seems like ArenaNet is doing everything possible to fragment the playerbase and split the community.

What started out as a pretty good game has really just devolved into a spaghettified mess. It’s thrown away the best of Guild Wars, and brought in the worst of every other MMO.

I can’t fathom what’s driving the decision-making over at ArenaNet, unless it’s somehow boiling down to profit, pure and simple.

Because they’ve absolutely killed, killed, the friendly spirit of a good game.

They’ve taken away any meaningful constructive competition (guild ladder, or HA, for example), and replaced it with individual ego. They’ve now added this element to PvE (which is mainly all this game is anyway). The only place it really belongs is WvW, and then only on a server level.

This is just not the promising game we had at release. It’s turning horrible.

I’m sorry, ArenaNet, but that’s how I feel. I’m beyond disappointed in the direction you are taking GW2. It started to go downhill on 15 November, and the only ray of sunshine since has been the SAB (and even that’s controversial).

GW2 had so much promise. It was going to be so much better than the other MMOs. Yet you keep making it more like them with every content update.

I’ve been hanging by a thread with my loyalty to this game for some time now. The only thing that’s got me this far is how good Guild Wars was.

Honestly, I can’t stand it any more.

Will there ever be an Armory for GW2?

They’re getting there. We have individual leaderboards now. No doubt soon people will be able to look up my toons and see everything about them.

And I can say, if this happens, all my toons are getting deleted. I hated that crap about WoW. If I liked it, I’d be playing WoW.

You can see accounts at the moment, and you can’t search for specific accounts. Achivement points doesn’t even tell people anything about how good someone is. So groups that decides who to take with them based on that is a group I would stay away from anyway.

But perhaps you can see why I’m concerned that they’re moving in that direction? Why does anyone need to see achievement points? Really? What for? Why do we need this? Why is it cool?

What next? Gear Score? Kitten.

Oh hooray. Another WoW-esque Napoleon complex fest. Can we have some more tier gear too, please?

The WvW one is nice. Back in the days of the Guild Ladder, listing guild names was nice.

But do we really need to see individuals in sPvP and achievements? Seriously? What is the point, other than to irritate people?

Are you folks at ArenaNet trying to fracture, corrupt, and destroy the community? I’m starting to think so.

Can you tell I’m rather kittened off at this? Individuals on the leaderboards?

Guilds, fine. WvW servers, fine. but why individuals?

Not, cool, guys.

I think I came to the realization that if I need dailies in order to give me something to do…I should probably just go do something else. If I’m not playing the game other than dailies, then there really is no point to even doing the dailies.

I’d rather do my own thing, instead of someone else’s list. And if I can’t find anything to do other than complete that list, it’s time for a new recreational activity.

Targeting System Broken

My character will not stay on the monster I have targeted. It constantly re-targets to other monsters, often to a very frustrating end because it pulls aggro that I didn’t want.

I don’t know if this is because of right-clicking or whatever to change my camera angle, but no other game I’ve ever played does this, including Guild Wars.

Please, please, figure out what’s causing this and fix it. It’s absolutely maddening.

Edit: it doesn’t matter what my autotargeting setting is. It happens anyway.

Chuo.4238

Agree with OP. I’ve missed quite a few laurels due to work or other real life reasons, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just not worth it. I don’t bother with dailies much any more. As a matter of fact, I am quickly losing interest in GW2 because I’m falling farther and farther behind on the time-gated gear grind that I thought ArenaNet games were famous for not having.

I enjoyed the SAB, but the only thing gear counts for in there is the skin.

So…I’ll probably log back on to check on the new SAB worlds as they are added, but I don’t care about the rest of GW2 anymore.

Why? Dailies = gear grind (yawn), and sPvP is most certainly not Guild Wars quality PvP. So what’s left?

PS: here’s what would get me back into the game regularly – if ArenaNet said they were done with Ascended gear and wouldn’t release any more. Only then would I suck up the existing grind, because there’d be a light at the end of the tunnel. I wouldn’t feel like dailies were a job after that.

A cross section of the demographics either didn’t like, didn’t care for or loved SAB. No stereotypes or complaints were conjured in the making of this post.

The impression I’m starting to get is that age really doesn’t have much to do with whether or not you like SAB. Rather, it’s whether or not you want something closer to a pure fantasy, or are quite happy to move in a different direction from pure fantasy.

Personally, I can get fantasy anywhere. This is new and interesting.

The steady diet of fantasy as I get older has worn quite thin. The only thing worse than fantasy to me is fantasy with elves and dwarves. Vampires are in the same boat. They’re over-played and I can do without them.

I feel exactly the same way. I’ve picked up several fantasy novels in the last 10 years, but I don’t think I’ve finished any of them. I occasionally read an old favourite, but mostly I just read other things now. After awhile, they do start to look the same…

On another note, I’m not sure if this thread has got off track or not…
