QUESTION: Build Statistics (PvE)

I see, well in terms of stats, they do matter alot. I try to center around 3-4 specific stats pertain to that build, and focus mostly on the abilities of the weapon to compliment the stats. You really are free to go about any stat you wish, but each stat you prioritize, you lose in another place. I don’t mind sharing my build to everyone, as i think i might not be the first to do it, but i strongly believe in its abilities.

My Sword/Sword & Longbow (Rifle) build is as follows.
Sigils – Preference
I used Earth/Doom for sword, and Smoldering for Longbow (force for Rifle)

Full Galraths Armor (Condition/Precision/Toughness) <— Back piece is also C/P/T
2 Superior Runes of Water
2 Superior Runes of Monk
2 Superior runes of Hoelbrak
(50 healing,25 power, 20% might duration, 30% boon duration)

Trinkets Full Carrion (Condition/Power/Vitality)
With Full Exquisite Chrysocola Jewels (same as carrion)

I can also use warhorn or banner without having to switch any stats around. So this build suited my taste that i can use multiple weapons for utility purposes. It gives everything i need to do most things. All the traits can be moved around for preference but the key part of my build is the 30 in tactics for the boon duration and 10 into discipline for the signet mastery. With those two alone and the runes on your armor, you get perma swiftness/fury/11+stacks of might.

Utilities
I run normally, Shake it off/For great justice/ Sigil of might (i can keep it up for 18 sec of +5 might if i want damage with 2 sec off time) or stability stance *it stays up for 13.5 sec with this boon duration build, or any other utility i feel i may need. My heal is adrenaline rush for the spike heals and adrenaline gain. If you want to run other stuff in utilities its fine, but i do say you must always have for great justice (perma 6 stack might). And of course signet of rage for the perma swiftness (98% time since there is cast time between swiftness duration and reactivating signet, but 100% with horn).

Stats without perma boons
Power = 1256
Precision = 1596
Toughness = 1386
Vitality = 1546
Attack = 2336 (condition dmg = 1295)
Crit Chance = 36% (46%with sword)
Armor = 2597
Health = 24672 (armor to health ratio is almost ideal (1:10 ratio is ideal))

Stats with Perma boons (16 stacks of might (95% of the time), swiftness and fury)
(only showing the stats affected by might)(fury gives 20% more crit chance btw)
Power = 1816
Attack = 2896 (condition dmg = 1855)

Best part of the perma boon, is that its good for either condition or crit builds, who want extra survivability, and perma swiftness/fury/11+stacks of might (25 stack super easy with GS) and still got the shouts, the ability to use bow always, or warhorn, or banner without needing to switch builds. I chose to be well rounded and still have high condition damage. The only weakness thats very evident, is if someone removes your boons, your dps drops significantly.

Another awesome part of the build, is if we get boons from anyone or our warhorn when it changes a condition to a boon (if traited) then they last for 60% longer, and if its might, its 80% longer. Thats what made this build a favorite in my taste. I have had success in sPvP sometimes, other times not so much, but this build is definitely an all around build, do what you feel kinda build. I don’t know the full potential of it, but it does make my warrior feel less weak in certain areas since im always trying to make tanky/dps with something that has as little weakness as possible. (the biggest one for this is the boon removal).

I hope anyone else who finds my build helpful can further pursue the best build for their warrior. Its really preference, but i think we still need to see what warriors have that is better than other classes (hard to find but, im working on it).

Problem is you, not warrior. Warrior is a tool, success or not is based on mostly the one who is controlling. What is the best of being a warrior? Tactics, well the tactics line for sure is very good, but what i mean is your mind, use tactics, surprise elements, read your enemy, create a blind spot for your enemy, use elemental advantage, use allies…

This is a game require teamwork, don’t expect to faceroll other player with half a brain… Warrior class mechanics is rather straight forward but with good hands and mind, warrior can be as trick as hell.

I don’t want to be mean but, can you please explain how tricky can we be? We don’t got stealth/clones/second health bar/multiple attunements/massive movespeed. We got burst skills and fast weapon switching, which is why i say its funny how our specialization for weapon swap is kinda weird. I think it can be sneaky and tricky, but more often its not that amazing or dynamic. Warrior skills are far easier to read and can’t really create as many openings as you say. I agree that a players skill is the most important aspect in the game, but you can’t deny that the warrior (class) is in need of some rework or looking over.

I completely agree with you Akumu, Its like we were supposed to be in yo face (but with no real defense against damage besides toughness and endure pain)* and compliment that with half kitten condition removals compared to other classes. I think auras don’t really match warriors that much but its better than nothing, but i think a way to get stability and protection would be more warrior like. I still will take anything that can make a warrior more effective at getting in your face with all the terrible ways of kiting a warrior. Really don’t know why we got no way to get protection, not even through banners =\

For those who say we have stability is right, but i meant that we should have access to stability other than just utility skills.

*Endure pain is 3 sec instead of 5 and its ungodly cd of 90 sec is totally horrendous without a way to even reduce it.

I agree so much, but the biggest problem is that the warriors biggest specialization for damage is weapon swap and abuse two different sets of gear to do our jobs, but the sad thing is most weapon traits in the trait tree that compliment each other are usually in different trees or not even on the same trait like on other classes. I almost feel inclined to run 30 in tactics for boon duration to get a balance of everything (might/fury/swiftness). Cause without em, i feel like we lose so much that makes a warrior, a warrior…. i still don’t get why they want warriors to be the best at weapon swapping when its mediocre at best when usually most people don’t swap often enough to prioritize the potential of it (not that i see it that amazing unless someone can prove me of its usefulness beyond that of escaping or choosing when to go offensive or defensive or ranged faster).

The First build really focuses on more weapon switching, and the second build is more tanky and sustain damage. Both are decent, but they offer no escapes. The second build is really a shout build but really does its job well on the front line. Personally if you like rifle, Greatsword synchronizes with it better. You would most likely use soldier runes for the second build or boon duration + runes. The first one would work well with any tanky runes (soldier is decent if u use more shouts, or dolyak for the hp regen). There are alot of choices, be open to modification, these are just examples and of preference.

The second build can also switch from shout to banner build (same tree) which does well in certain scenarios (banner regen for dungeons/siege defense).

I love going against the grain (not using Gs or axe/x) but i do know about them and other builds, since i have been testing like a fiend forever on warrior builds. I currently roll sword/sword with longbow and i find it fun (not the most effective build). I get perma swiftness/fury/11+might stacks (almost perma 16) and i don’t lose out on damage via sword attacks or condition damage (1600-1800 condition uptime) and i got a pretty good crit rate off about 67% with fury. Its the only build i roll since, i fell for the all around utility,heal,condition dmg/flat dmg/tankiness and vit. It had everything i wanted but wasn’t weak in every area.

Precision is only important in condition builds for the fact that we need it to proc sigil of earth and to increase our flat dmg for some sustained damage (the precise strike is a nice bonus). Condition dmg is poop alone for warriors especially since its a bit hard to drop alot of constant bleeds without someone cleansing them constantly (and we gotta be in melee mostly to do it if you go swords). Hence if your play style is to get in their face and smash and then get out, i suggest Greatsword with rifle for your play. Great burst dmg/evasion and escapes and then rifles heavy dps from range makes you great in most scenarios. Healing power is really a bunker type/support stat that really works only when there is a heavy need for heals and i honestly don’t think healing power is worth it for warriors (we don’t do it well) and we lose too much on our dps and other vital stats.

Warriors benefits from healing power are poor to the compare with the dmg gains and survivability we get from straight toughness and power. There really isn’t too many choices for max/min benefits for warriors currently and depending on what your looking to play more (PvE/WvW/sPvP/tPvP). I really enjoy my build and wouldn’t mind sharing if you are interested in it, its cheap and covers all the areas i enjoy in warriors. Its a dps build, but its not fragile. Still, you should play how you like and be open to different type of ideas that may be interesting to you. There are certain weapon combinations that go well together though (like GS/Rifle) or (sword-Axe/Longbow) or (hammer/Sword-shield(warhorn)).

Please explain more what you have in mind, and maybe i can help better lead you to a build that satisfies you.

Depending on your preference all of these are pretty much what you wrote down, except that i feel shout class doesn’t necessarily need to get full healing power if you wanted to be more selfish towards damage and get power or something else. I believe its more popular to aim for balance in power/condition dmg if you do want to go condition, and an easy way of doing it is to get lots of might stacks.

Might effects both and warrior can easily get 11+ might stacks permanently.
I always suggest to get a gear with toughness as warriors already have high base health. Elaborate more on what you like and what you want to achieve (build/playstyle/weaponchoice)

Lies. I haven’t used a greatsword since lvl 60, with the exception of my stun build for sPVP.

I’ve used both Dual Axes and Dual Swords to great effect. Dual Axes’ burst DPS and the Burst ability itself are great. Swords get mad bleeding on the target, plus has a nice burst ability that roots AND bleeds the target.

If you’re only using Greatsword for melee as a Warrior, you are seriously missing out.

I main Sword/Sword with longbow (condition/power/toughness/vit build) Its an all around build. It works in all scenarios decently…… but GS is better in pvp (period). GS is faster, more aoe dmg, not easy to stop its whirlwind damage, has a burst, and cant get removed (condition dmg can be). It even has a long range cripple. If you check the skills for GS, and compare what you get with Sword/Sword or Axe/Axe or any other x/x combo you will notice a dramatic decrease in movement (second best is sword/warhorn). GS actually never needs to lose dps from berserkers power (12% of constant extra damage) while sword or axe need to use it for their burst attacks.

Im not a liar, and i have been playing warrior long enough to say that in pve (its a joke regardless what weapon you use) but in PvP/WvW, we don’t have many weapon options that really make themselves look better than GS for what it does (damage/mobility/long range cripple/burst/low cooldown/traits that help it stack might). If you find a warrior rocking sword/sword or axe/axe in tournaments, then hats off to you, and if you don’t, Don’t be surprised.

I mean have you even watched the warrior forums? People have been going round and round trying every blasted weapon set, every blasted spec idea, every gimmicky thing.

have you seen any class forum? literally every one except thief is a total pity party of people arguing that the class is the worst in the game, needs a total overhaul+buffs, and that it is outclassed by [class xyz] in every way possible.

it’s the most pathetic display of whining i have ever seen in any video game. all everyone does is kittening complain.

Doesn’t change the fact that you missed the point, we only got 1-3 ways to build into anything viable for every aspect other than tPvP. And to put it bluntly, we are naturally forced to do things other classes don’t. We were supposed to be melee tanky dps (except when you go either a bit too much in one, you lose alot of the other). Don’t call it pathetic for someone to express their feelings about something they want to display, it’s more pathetic for you to say anything in response.

Our swords feel so terribly weak. Its been a while since i can remember a game where swords was more utility then damage. Then they gave us the offhand sword and i feel like my auto attack animations were like someone learning to use one hand at a time. I wish we had skills that actually used both swords simultaneously. And yes the swing “response” is definitely lackluster compared to axe/mace and I still really hate that sword was chosen to be the melee bleed stacker and make its physical damage so low =\

Truth is, if I see another warrior going rampage against me in spvp (very, very rarely) or in wvwvw, I’m 99.9% sure I will win that fight. I’m pretty sure all the other warr players feel the same.

I have yet to see anyone but charr/norn use it to see how big they can look in Lions arch.

Rampage

•Duration has been increased to 360 seconds
•Cooldown has been increased to 361 seconds
•Cast time has been removed
•Warriors now have stability while in Rampage
•Warriors now have permanent swiftness while in Rampage
•Warriors are now immune to conditions
•Rampage abilities damage increased by 47,000%
•Rampage abilities have been reworked
Smash no longer does damage, rather the target struck by Smash just explodes into a bloody mist.
Kick no longer does damage. When a target is struck by Kick, the target is now just kicked right out of the game
Dash has been replaced with HURRRRRRRRRR This ability is essentially the same as Dash but now has unlimited range and the Warrior moves so fast while dashing towards his target, that the only way to aptly describe using this ability is HURRRRRRRRRR
Throw Boulder now throws a boulder roughly the size of Lion’s Arch and deals 67,000 damage
Stomp This ability is now only usable in tPvP and simply wins the match for you because if you aren’t stomping every single challenge in sight, than Warrior is underpowered and weak

Now traits, runes, sigils, and weapons no longer matter.

You sir, are not funny. Trolls iaren’t a class in this game, so i suggest you go to another game where you can thrive under a bridge. But then again i am feeding your ego right now and i probably won’t post against such ignorance again, but i have faith that some people will understand that balancing a class is one thing and a class that needs some attention can be agreed upon.

Positive feedbacks and mature responses help things progress, while childish and ignorant responses like yours would only create more hate for a class which is already in need of tweaking. If you want to convince others that warriors are viable and strong, please try doing it in a way that actually is convincing and proof worthy. From what i see, you are only agreeing with the fact that we have a useless elite skill (Rampager).

Warrior adjustments for team utility

If you want to be useful in buffing/keeping party alive run lbow and shoutbuild (banners as 2nd choice) like 99% of whatever warriors in dungeons. In wvwvw run something hard to kill (20/0/20/10/20 for example with P/V/T gear) and if you have a solid group with our best lovepartners guardians, then go full glass, let them babysit and keep you alive and go 100% glass. You’ll come all over their pretty guardian faces for the perma protection/regen buffs and they’ll cuddle you for the 24-28k you’ll hit in return in dungeons.

My first build...

If you were to use Greatsword Roaming builds, i suggest Knight gear and berserker amulets/trinkets to get a good balance of damage mitigation and heavy dps. You could do the same gear for the axe/shield and long bow build or go a bit more tanky and still get a similar effect damage by using Knight armor and Valkryie Trinkets (power/crit dmg/vit) or vice versa.

You want a good balance of toughness/precision/power and vit for axe/shield since you want to survive long enough to get the damage you want to apply. As for the Greatsword, it already has great escape potential via whirlwind and rush, so it needs just toughness and damage to finish a target fast enough so that you come out on top in Roaming scenarios.

Runes would probably be either soldier runes to remove conditions, or any rune that you feel would need more dps or tanking trait. Runes can vary based on what you feel your build lacks (need more damage/tank/boon duration/movement speed).

I feel on a axe build, i would always get sigil of intelligence so that if you go from longbow to axe and you maxed out adrelanine, you can eviscerate at first sight and get a guaranteed crit and get some good dps early. Offhand can be anything, and i suggest getting fire sigil for the extra burst. Sigils are also something you can play with to decide what you need more on that weapon set. No sigil/rune is set in stone, so play around in PvP map to see what sigil you think benefits the most for your weapon and playstyle. And for greatsword, most people get either sigil of fire/strength/or frailty. But even then, you can pretty much get anything you feel helps you more.

I am one to think our shield skills need to get lower cd’s or increased effectiveness. It offers very selfish utilities (single target stun (1 sec) and a 3 sec invuln to direct damage). Also need to spec 20 in defense tree to get the cd’s down by 20%. I would rather get 20 into the tactics tree and get 20% off warhorn skills and it changes 1 condition into a boon/ aoe weakness for 6 sec / vigor for 10 sec (more dodge = less dmg) / swiftness for 10 sec (can get away easier if necessary) / and anti cripple/immobilize/chill. + These are aoe buffs to allies as well.

I do say that Shield has its own perks (stun to set up another attack, and the 3 sec invuln) but i still believe warhorn > sheild as an offhand. Thats my opinion though, so if it works great for you = keep using it, but try warhorn once in a while and see if its your style.

Vitality vs Precision

Agreed that Knight > P/T/V gear also based on the fact that heals only heal about half your health (Healing Surge) and with greater toughness, we get actually a larger effective health pool through toughness, we also get the precision to do more damage. Since we already have the highest base health, we can focus on just toughness for the mitigation and condition removal abilities to cover up for the health pool. The larger your health pool, the weaker % wise your heals give you. This opens up more space to get gear that specialize in more damage via power/precision/crit dmg.

Dual Sword,

Its a bleed/dueling type of combination. I think it is sub par for dmg (since melee condition is usually outclassed by ranged condition specs of other classes) but i have found success in it by being smart. Its trait is mostly sustain damage from bleeds and the mobility from savage leap to stick to your target to keep up the condition stacks. The flat damage from sword though i agree is a bit low. I personally wish there wasn’t bleeds on sword and have us do more higher flat damage. But what other weapon would make sense to have other than a sword to do bleed damage for warrior?

Would be awesome to chuck two axes into an elementalist in the back line, and then bull rush them to pick your axes up again to get a power increase for a small time and then go into a frenzy rampage of evicerates and chops. She tries to mist away, and then you chuck your axes to cripple her legs, and then throw both axes again to finish her off at a distance, while you swag walk to her to pick your axes up and wipe them clean for another kill, oh wait, wrong game T.T

Hammer is decent damage and lots of CC. Getting full soldier runes and making it a shout build makes it great in WvW. Use sword/horn as off hand for those runaway breaks from a zerg. Tons of debuffs and aoe condition removal for a whole group and buffs. Use battle standard or signet of rage depending on your desires (more dmg/buffs rez). This build can always be tweaked for a little more dmg or utility. Switch between empowered and leg specialist if you want more CC or dmg. if you want to be slightly less juggernaut and balls deep type to a more defensive buffing type, switch sword/horn for bow and get longbow range increase and get shouts heal. Small sustain for the back lines and tower siege (both defend and offense). I still think warhorn is the best offhand in WvW for any warrior (too many buffs/anti snare to let go).

Greatsword really not that great

^ GS is definitely better off used in that manner. A sword/warhorn build combined with GS spinning around brings good dps/debuffs and buffs for a whole team in WvW. Still have that strong 1v1 dmg and really slippery. (don’t get sucked into HB spam, works great in PvE, but in all other places, people are picking up the hint to dodge your HB and just hit you from the back while your doing it)

I think equal to you man. Actually we are the worst class in 1 vs 1 and the best weapon to 1vs1 is axe. The axe just have a good autto attack because the rest of the skills are pretty ugly ( Criple 900 range, Vulnerability for 8s LOL it is joke … )
Whatever, nowadays I don’t know what the Anet need to do to fix the warrior but this way its impossible to play with one class that is the worst in 1vs1 and when you try to go straight in a zerg you must use Endure pain or you will not back for the house.
The warrior condition builds are bad too, first we can’t focus in other condition like poison, confusion, etc. Our condition is just bleeding.

Its true that 1v1 we aren’t kings. But i do feel that warriors are strong in other aspects. As for someone who’s addicted to going against the grain (anti GS build), the only condition build i have been somewhat successful with is a bleed/burn build and using sigil of doom on both the long bow and sword to keep poision on the enemy as an additional condition and reduce healing. Its got its pros/cons like any other build, but i do feel we need a buff in condition areas to make it viable.

Axe definitely is the best dmg we get for one handed weapon, and combined with mace offhand, we get some decent dueling abilities. But even that is subpar compared to other classes (pathing skills or ranged skills = more reliable damage). biggest problem for warrior is that most of our skills aren’t target and stick to dmg skills (heartseeker from thief (close gap and do dmg), ranged attacks from all classes are mostly click target and click skill, or reverse dmg/condition like guardians and their retaliton/burns). It makes it harder for warriors to stick their damage down and not get messed up in the fray. We do have ways to do those stuff too (Rifle/bow) but it doesn’t feel very warrior type >.> and that our melee skills i feel could all definitely use bug fixes (gs rush pathing/our burst skills are subpar (only axe/rifle/stun worth anything)). Not to mention our burst % in the discipline tree is a joke.

I do say, that our best specialty is multiweapon and dynamic style of different situations, but in pvp it doesn’t bring alot to the table and the fast hands trait is bugged. Whats worse is how warriors don’t have a single use for going all the way down the strength tree, and i dont know how warriors can possibly stand as one of the stronger 1v1 classes until they fix most of our bugs, and give us a bit more (reliable damage).

I know about lyssa runes, I just feel warriors could do better DPS durable by simply just being more agile (perma swiftness/warhorn/vigor for constant dodge). I truly wish we could get protection boon, but when i think about it, It would make us way too strong with the high health pool we already have and heavy armor.

But i guarantee anyone with more than a peanut size brain can melt you as fast as you could melt them. But its a thought im sure others have thought about. I just think Warriors shine in more sustained dmg and small bursts with good survivability to round us out. Its kinda like effective health pool. The more toughness you have, the more vitality you need to make it efficient and vice versa. Same thing works with High crit or glass cannon builds, high burst dmg but die just as fast isnt as effective if you had medium-high dmg and above average survivability and tanking skills.

Why would one think that 100% critical chance is glass cannon?
It sounds as such, but I didn’t overlook sustain. I have solid amount of vitality/toughness from my knight/valk pieces, my food lets me regenarate a solid amount of HP(especially with 100% critical chance hehe, I regenerate inbetween 3-4k per HB assumed I hit 3 targets), and I <3 superior rune of lyssa because it removes all conditions and gives me all boons. Which is perfect for survival.

I wasnt stating that 100% crit chance was glass cannon, but the berzerk gear i was pointing at (if you had 100% crit chance, its tempting to get all zerk gear and see how high your numbers go). I know there are plenty of ways to go 100% and still have survivability. I for one enjoy the challenge of Condition build and i have it working pretty well as of late, but everyone plays differently. I just don’t suggest whoever goes 100% crit to expect to rock like nuts if they go full zerk gear. I really do think that warrior’s true potential lies in the fact that our damage can be balanced to be both quite above average.

As we can see Warrior don’t have one second of protection, if you can put protection in the warrior, so you should go to the doctor because you might be crazy.

You can actualy get some protection via runes. ;-)

Not worth having if its not reliable >.<
(random chance to get protection for 4s < skill that gives you 2 sec protection on demand)

I think your Axe/Shield + Longbow build could be tweaked for a little more efficiency. I notice you seem to want to keep adrelanine high, and since your already using FGJ and SIO, you might as well switch sharpened axe to inspiring shouts. And maximize your shouts by going a bit more into the Tactics tree to get the shout duration reduced.

(Death from above is better for tower defenses – jump down, knockdown,fear me and then run back to ur keep), also i think berserker’s stance at 5 might isnt worth it if you have all the shouts and bow to get your adrelanine up.

Your Greatsword build, seems to be more of Roamer, except you got longbow (seige defense) in it. So depending on which you want to do i think these builds will optimize a bit more dmg for you and a bit more survivability.

Again every build can be tweaked to anyones preference and likes. Your builds aren’t bad, but i feel there are places where you can be slightly specialized in certain areas so that you are more effective in WvW.

I think your banner/condition build for PvE isnt too bad, but i feel you need more anti condition stuff (and if u plan on using the dmg bonus from berserker’s power, know that it doesnt increase condition dmg). Also if you use berserker’s power it won’t be up often if you use flurry or combustion shot from the bow, where you can get more dmg by just putting 5 more points into arms to deal 10% more damage with basic attacks if the enemy is bleeding. Aside from that, most of it i guess is a very team supportive build and i think in PvE this would work well. Instead of using axe, i figure using horn and substituting shrug it off with quick breathing to remove conditions and apply buffs/debuff.

What i would change if i went your style of play, of course everything is up to you and how you want to play. PvE isnt too hard to play with almost any build. Try to have fun =D.

Warriors, if traited well can heal a buttload; and using a GS is always high dps lol. Why do you need protection if you can heal almost as much as you get damaged.

I would agree in certain aspects to a healing warrior, but the fact is healing power on us scales terribly. We can use shouts and banners to heal aoe and ourselves, but Guardians can do it better (self and aoe wise) and dish out more damage via this approach. Warriors do have more mobility than Guardians, and we have abilities to engage and disengage most scenarios. I believe the truth of the matter that Devs, made warriors jack of all trades was indeed true, we do have perks in areas (weapon swapping, but it is bugged and Might stacking) where a high learning curve seperates most warriors from others based on skill. (Gaging when to jump in, should i save a utility skill for a possible chase or use it to initiate, when to HB or just auto attack, etc.)

Problem with Gs, is that it lacks the hard cc we need to control our opponents. Its dmg is high, and offers the a ton of mobility. Compared to our other weapons though, i would say that the only other weapons most viable for competitive play (PvP/WvW) are the rifle and Axe for damage. Longbow is still a bit buggy, and if not speced into condition, the burn would do significantly less dmg (not too bad even as a more crit build, but rifle would do more hurt to single targets, while longbow for WvW)

Its sad that warrior, has a lot of bugs and requires some attention towards our more weaker builds (Condition specifically). The best thing though is the large diverse builds warriors can use based on weapon choices. Its hard to manage compared to other classes i think (most people used to playing games requiring only 1 weapon, or at worst 2 with swapping) because of how often i felt being fixed to one set or two sets of different weapons wasn’t enough for some scenario.

Axe = Highest single hand dmg output (1 gap closer which isnt reliable and 1 cripple ranged)
Sword = Bleed/mobility/cripple (offhand needs work/and flurry roots you and the target) <— (currently better to use for mobility/utility rather than for bleed since condition dmg is better done on other classes and warriors need a buff in that aspect)
Mace = Blocks/Stuns/Weakness/vulnerability (slow attacks/no gap closer/ good utility and gives more tankiness in my opinion)

GS = Lots of mobility and Damage (2 gap closers and escapes/ Decently high burst / no Hard CC/ 1 ranged cripple)
Hammer = Aoe stun/Knockback/Stun/Aoe cripple (Slow attack animations and no escape utilities)

Rifle = High single target dps and a knockback (great for high burst builds and vulnerability builds, I would say that imo that this weapon is currently the most viable in most scenarios)
Longbow = Large Aoe dmg/affects (scales poorly with Flat dmg, Puts good numbers of burn on enemies, and great chain effect for might stacks)

Horn = Best aoe utility from a weapon we have (remove crip/imob/chill, swiftness/ vigor and aoe weakness)
Shield = Defensive offhand with a small gap closer stun (small stun duration (mostly for interrupt) and 3 sec block with a large cd)

Overall if you see our weapons and the skills they come with, i would say they all have too many pros/cons to have just two sets of weapons. Of course we can always have our favorites, but i think always having a warhorn and longbow at all times is useful (in inventory). That being said, warriors can be built tankier and still do dmg (not just because gs does lots of dmg), but because we have many weapons which forces us to use different weapons at different times. This does though prove that in Tpvp/Spvp, warriors are rather subpar to other classes currently. Yes winning alot with Gs or anyother weapon does show that we have potential, but I still believe that two people of similar skill (the warrior will lose to most other classes) can show that Warrior shines in areas we can’t exploit in PvP. But thats just my opinion and others would argue HB is too strong, or rifle hitting 10K crits are too strong, but that doesn’t really affect warrior as a whole. Plus using many (selfish utility skills) aren’t as good as other our other abilities, which is why i strictly try not to play Gs, as i dislike using things everyone else does (weird). I do say that a warrior who uses Gs well in a team can be seen as a High (small aoe) Dps melee burst class with high dmg and good mobility, and naturally a bit tanky.

Most likely the Closest things to DPS durable currently and is considered most viable is Gs with Sword/Horn and aiming to get Knight armor and Berserker Trinkets to get a best of both worlds and not be a Glass Cannon. Warriors have the highest base health (Necro’s too) and Use heavy armor but a few hundred points into toughness adds a lot of dmg reduction to a high health pool. Warriors generally need more toughness than vitality to increase their effective health pool compared to gaurdians (your example). Gs and Sword/Horn offer many escape’s increase movements skills and anti snare + vigor.

That balance of Damage and Defense along with some trait modifications can allow warriors to be much more durable and only lose a slight decrease in dmg. The trade off though i argue is definitely more favorable than being a straight glass cannon as a warrior since the truth is (we got no stealth/aegis/long duration invul or protection)
our only invulns are short and their cd’s are enormous.

Depending on your traits, it is possible to properly adjust damage with tankiness.
Opinion: I rather dislike the Sheild for many reasons that i feel Horn offers more to a team and the individual using it. The fact that the game doesnt really have a designated healer (A true healer/support class) and usually demands an individual to be self reliant means that we must be able to kite even as a melee class to avoid damage as well. Lets face it, i much rather have someone who knows how to kite and do dmg than someone spending too much time trying to soak damage and potentially die in a bad spot where no one can rez them.
