The current state of the warrior is good but not great. where the class really shines is its ability to pump out dps, witch Imo is really the only way for the warrior to be currently played. GS, Axe, Hammer, Rifle and Lb all have the ability to hit over 10k on 80’s. while Sword and mace can hit in the 4 – 7k range in Wv3. what we need is our sustainability/condition removal fixed.
Our defensive/support builds can’t compare to what support elles/guards bring to a group, shouts are mediocre at best and your dmg is that of a wet noddle. we lack the proper access to the two most important boons in the game in order to take any kind of damage witch is Protection and Regen to provide us with sustainability in a fight.
We also have poor condition removal, not only do you have to build for it, you also have to run a full rune set, in just an attempt to control how much conditions can be constantly spam’d on you.
Pretty much
Damage – Great, we don’t need anymore.
Sustainability – Bad, needs improvements, not easily fixed with out making the class god mode. most likely would result in a dps nerf.
Condition Removal – Bad, easily fixed by tweaking our current condition removal traits/utilities
Group Support – Mediocre at best.
Pretty Much agree with this 100%. Warriors have DPS covered quite well for a melee oriented class with ranged dps on a strong end. Support wise we arent the best, but a bit above average if speced for support which would lead to pretty low dps anyways. Sustain and damage mitigation is a huge factor that a melee class should have an ability to access, even if it means losing some dps, but I assume that because Anet thought that warriors have 18k health and 2.2k armor base, that giving us any sorta sustain or damage mitigation will be overkill. Well sadly Warriors are perhaps one of the few classes I feel drop the most in WvW.
I run a Hammer Burst build that has 3k armor and 21k hp, which is above glass cannon builds but still get hurt for alot fairly quickly. After an Earthshaker+staggering blow+Hammer shock combo (solid 50k+ dps on a group of players/monsters), i can’t stick around for much longer if there are many aoe’s in the area or players dropping tons of conditions around. I personally wouldn’t mind trading a little dps for some more mitigation, but min/max has shown that to obtain any real substantial defensive gains, you tend to lose more dps and support capabilities at the cost of survivability. It just shows warriors main role currently is DPS, and there really isn’t much ways around it other than to burst/dps and jump out before things go too south (assuming zerg/group combat) and if your running a roaming build, glass or semi-glass builds will excel over any type of bunker/support/tank build you can think of.
Guys, he’s complaining about how if we warriors use axe throw but our angle is off, it will not throw an axe and will set our skill on cool down. Other classes will refuse to initiate the skill if the target isn’t in front of you.
This happens a lot with tremor as well.
He’s not complaining about the cripples themselves. No one reads.
He changed the title, It was originally Warriors cripples suck =\
You must find your own playstyle and your own weapon set that you like. Can’t make a build and call it the best, especially in WvW where everyone can do multiple roles.
I personally think the only thing endure pain is some reduced cooldown. 60 seconds or perhaps a trait that makes it 20% less to all stances. Otherwise, its not a bad stance at all.
You should be running sword/axe if CC is important to you.
Im sorry but, can you explain? O.o
I always carry a Longbow/GS/Hammer/Sword-shield/warhorn. MY main build uses Hammer/Sword-shield in WvW, but when zergs get too big (20+) i use long bow instead of hammer, or if im in PvE and i need to clean up mobs fast, i use GS. If i need team AOE swiftness i use warhorn or I drop a banner. I dont really see the utility of axe or mace to be a necessity to carry around. I can argue that i dont need warhorn since i have banner, but I have one lying around and i got huge inventory space that it doesn’t bother me.
For great justice is great in groups, although annoying to spam. You can also grab a banner for team combined with for great justice boosts your teams dps alot. If your soloing around i suggest always getting balanced stance, because if your in trouble (knocked down or disabled) balance stance/signet of stamina is a clean wipe and you can run away to heal or kite till your able to get in the fray again. Bull rush is OK too for soloing, helps with distance but not much affect on mobs. Can grab shake it off too for team CC removal if your team is lacking, or even frenzy for tough mobs to finish quickly. Not really too many choices, perhaps for Longbow you can use signet of fury for the adrenaline fill, but usually you shouldn’t need it.
Yea signet builds drop very hard after 60-70. At 80, its near useless, since 200 precision for not activating any of the signets is worthless (200 precision = about 9% crit chance, when between for great justice and signet of rage activation gives perma 20% crit chance)
No Problem =D
(edited by CoaxialMazer.9140)
This is how I would run it for PvE, if you got money, you can role superior runes of divinity for a slightly more balanced stats. You will have a bit of defense with knight armor, and can go full berserker when you get used to taking less damage. You can lay down some serious damage aoe wise, and have perma fury for 75% crit chance. Ruby orbs are cheap early on for dps. When you get the hang of your build you can change things to your liking. I would choose those utilities, although its up to you.
PvE, is a fun place to experiment and learn more about warriors, but to learn more your gonna have to experiment alot and try many different builds to see what you like more and what fits your desired role more.
Its better for you to go knight/berserker mix for a while till you get used to full berserker. Conditions on warriors are subpar, and in a team, the fight for bleed stacks can be an issue to dps. Warriors excel in Direct damage, so I suggest you move towards that. Your bleeds will still do some decent damage with the might stacks you get from signet of rage or For great justice if you run that.
Only Asura will do front flips when they smash something with a hammer. Quite awesome, IMO.
Im mad jelly. My human Warrior feels great with a sword, but hammer feels normal kinda looking. Would be cool to do a front flip on an earthshaker since i run a Hammer build.
^ Agreed that warriors shouldn’t be pwned by most thieves. If your in WvW or even sPvP, a decent warrior will either have enough toughness to resist the initial burst of the thief and dodge in time to break the thief, or run either endure pain/defy pain/shield block to negate the burst, Which usually results in a huge disadvantage for thieves.
I roll a Hammer/sword-shield Warrior with 2.8k armor, and Backstab/heartseeker thiefs pose almost no threat to me. Condition thiefs can be slightly more problematic with short bow kiting and death blossom spams, but direct damage thievess aren’t really a problem. If you play warrior long enough, you’ll learn to get some kinda defense against burst direct damage classes like thieves, even glass cannon warriors.
Cripple don’t suck. Warrior speed stats SUCKS!
How about the trait which improves running speed while using melee weapons? Worth the points or waste of time?
Its only 10% and it doesn’t stack with swiftness. Since most warriors run signet of rage which gives 30s of swiftness with no boon duration, its better to grab signet mastery in the same tier trait than to get the movement bonus for using melee weapon. Since the 12 sec of removed downtown is far better for both mobility and DPS.
My current build and a few other variations if you like those choices more. I think sword-shield/Hammer is the best set up for Hammer warriors, but Hammer and GS does fine too. This is how I would run it, if I had to run GS/Hammer.
There are many ways to do GS/Hammer but you really can’t optimize both for Maximum DPS. This build atleast offers some good toughness, and over 50% crit on hammer and 55% on GS. If you run Sigil of percepetion and get 25 Stacks, you can get an additions 12-13% crit chance for GS, but it will be almost overkill for Hammer.
I personally like Mobile strikes too much to not go 20 into discipline, but if you think you don’t need it, you can switch 5 from defense and discipline and put 10 into strength for berserker power for a larger increase in DPS.
Here is a vid of a full zerk using GS/Hammer (kudos to sanny and his awesome videos)
Its a more DPS based build that revolves around skirmishes/1v1’s. Personally I wouldnt ever go past 50% crit chance on Hammer because of Unsuspecting foe and Earthshaker, but he does get more reliable DPS than I would, although I prefer to be more tanky since I enjoy more zerg and larger group battles. Its up to you what you like.
Hammer Shock + Leg Specialist Is the best Cripple/aoe snare IMO, and savage leap is pretty good combination with Hamstring. Axe throw isn’t too reliable but its ways faster than GS. I don’t think the cripple skills are too bad, we got worse things to worry about, like gap closers and conditions =P
I still wouldn’t mind more stability <— Hammer Warrior with long attack animations =D
10 into strength to better round out your damage. Condition for warriors will make you do good sustain dmg, but just going 10 into strength gives damage when you roll (which is like a free autoattack on a target, also i thinks aoe 3 targets) and you can grab berserkers power for 12% more damage when adrelanine is full. I assume you use your burst abilities often since your a condition build, but the overall dps gain for 10 points is alot, which better rounds out your build, + 10% condition duration is pretty good too.
I would just run 3 banners, and shake it off with the 20 into tactics for the stability/stun break and it gives regen O.O, still like the idea, but i think you could find a slightly more balanced way to trait for it.
I think the first two are fine considering warriors can’t stack a ton load of boons like guardians, but that banner one i just realized is freaking godly o.o
ill just drop 4 banners with 90% boon duration (2 sup water/monk, 2 maj water, 20% food, and 30 in tactics, not to mention 10% more from banner of tactics) You could get almost perma protection and 20 stacks of might for 30~ secs in a whole group of 5.
I think the shout one is ok though, even though I think if anet did it, it would be like 3 sec each, and perhaps either stability or regeneration, not both.
I like your ideas, but its really hard to tweak to not make tactics tree so great, that all the other trees would looks worthless to put points into them. I would definitely run a boon build with these minor traits.
id be happy if was just 5%, but its just a measly 3% for 25 points into strength tree =\
Vitality Tree:
5: Empowered:
3% Damage per Boon.15: Boon Armor:
3% Damage Reduction per Boon.25: Warlord:
Using a Banner grants you and your allies 15s of Protection and Might. – 1200 Radius.
Using a Shout grants you and your allies 5s of Stability and Regeneration. – 1200 Radius.
3% is a bit too much i think on both dmg and damage reduction =P + having those as minor traits will make almost all warriors go for boon builds >.>
Maybe 2% for either one, but i do like the last minor trait. Sadly 5s regeneration will be too OP with healing shouts because of boon duration. Everyone would run 30 tactics with those traits =D
Scholar I think is only worth it on Rifle/Longbow builds that plan to barely ever go melee. Its pretty decent for Support based warriors like banner ones, who sit in the back of zerg fights and just do aoe dps. Sigil of fire is strong with most weapons but there are certain ones, where others are far superior like sigil of impact for Hammer or sigil of force on Rifle (killshot and volley benefit so much from it that it outweighs fire in pure dps).
In WvW, the only thing warriors can somewhat excel at is AOE dps/CC with Hammer and Longbow. GS gives more skirmish/1v1 benefits. Axe doesn’t really give alot of help besides small skirmishes and 1v1’s. I don’t know of another other class than can apply aoe CC/dps as easily (mind you, this depends on builds). With stability/endure pain, a warrior can Earthshaker, staggering blow, AOE cripple (snare if traited), Stomp, Fear me, Combustive shot, and arcing arrow with just Longbow/Hammer. I don’t run Hammer/long bow, but I always carry a longbow with my Hammer/sword-shield build. Hammer is really subpar in PvE, but in WvW it shines the most out of all the weapon sets for warriors. If you spec properly, you can easily get some huge dps numbers and be more tanky than the average glass cannon warriors that run around.
Personally, I believe warriors fair pretty well in WvW, its PvP where we suffer the most, and some of our bugged utilities.
Well, I agree that the 15, and 25 are a bit useless for going so far in the tactics tree, but i think 5 armor per level = 400 at 80, isnt so bad considering its just 5 points. 400 toughness gives an additional 13-14% damage reduction when trying to res someone. Not so bad in in scenarios where you need to res someone while taking some damage. Albeit, i could think of tons of more useful stuff, it isn’t complete garbage.
Best Fix Ever
Make bulls charge an F2 skill, and make it actually connect more than just half the time =), Tada!!
I give you props for putting a picture of the berserker class from SUN. It was considered an underrated class, but I played it anyways. After getting my elite axe (chicken leg) I rolled everyone. I missed that game, that game really required skill to play, and GvG warfare was so fun in the open world. Too bad it started getting sucky with all the crappy updates and ridiculous grind.
Edit: nice build, especially since not many warriors I know actually switch weapons based on situation except a few
MY current Hammer build and a few other theory crafted one for those of different taste.
If anything 10 from defense to strength gives a ton more dps for a little drop in defense and grabbing berserker power. I personally think its one of the best dps traits warriors have, especially for how long our adrenaline tank normally sits on full.
I use it just to pretend I have alot of HP and Defense and boast about it in public ^_~
Its a secret on how i became so tanky =P
Can you imagine my face when I get my warrior to 80 and go to PVP/WVW him only to realize that, other than some lame greatsword burst damage build, a guardian does everything we do better. It’s like warriors are guardian light + some easily dealt with burst damage.
Fortunately, CoaxialMazer, your build gives me hope. I will be logging into my warrior, whom I had given up on, to try this build.
I am glad That you haven’t given up on your warrior. Albeit that Guardians are superiors in some areas, Warriors have their perks too. Warriors have much easier access to offensive stat increases while guardians have more defensive traits/utilities. There are a few builds that are starting to show some promise for warriors with the new ascended stat combinations and stat bonus over exotics. In PvP, it is true that warriors are still not the strongest contenders (although its fun to play as a warrior in pvp). But in WvW, warriors can carry a diverse range of builds to a zerg/skirmish or even be a solo roamer.
“Can never achieve the same true tanky/sustain prowess as other classes”
Er…. that’s a pretty big con.
Enough to not role this build 0_0..
Well its true in a sense that most warriors cant be as tanky/sustain like certain guardian builds or bunker d/d eles or necros, but that doesn’t mean that warriors need to be fragile to viable. Not being the best tank doesn’t necessarily mean its not worth using this build. Its the fact warriors can sacrifice some offense to gain defense because warriors have so many ways to get their offensive power/precision from traits/utilities.
Either 6 pieces of Altruism for Fury (5 sec) and 3 stacks of might (10 sec) on heal and increased healing power and 15% boon duration, Or 2 pieces of Altruism and 4 pieces of Air for 5% crit dmg, increased swiftness duration and 5 sec swiftness on heal. All the boons given are increased by your boon duration (30% or 45% or more if you use food boon duration). If you feel fury will benefit more, or swiftness is up to you. I think 6 pieces of altruism would be best personally speaking.
Well the only real mobility weapons are GS, Sword, warhorn. I think its mandatory to have atleast 1 in any build. Warriors naturally have alot of base hp compared to other classes, and since we don’t have protection boon, Toughness is the strongest “tanky” stat warriors would need.
Knight/Cavalier are most desirable gears for any “tanky” dps warrior. Cavalier offers crit dmg for burst numbers, while knight offers consistent crit, which is good with sigils and food. I believe Knight works best with weapons that hit often (axe/GS) and Cavalier better suits Hammer.
I am currently at a class and will respond later to help tweek your build to your liking =D
Thanks, CoaxialMazer. That makes sense for the crit chance. 30% because w/ Fury 50% is fine and anything over is a waste with +50% vs stunned.
I like your build and understand why you took the traits you did, but I really like having 100% up-time on swiftness and fury. The fury helps with keeping up solid dps and the swiftness helps with getting in/out of combat. The horns for more weakness, vigor, and condition removal is nice too since warriors are often quite lacking in condition removal and it bypasses one of the biggest advantages of warriors, high toughness.
I’ve been thinking though, if you could tweak my build some to use Shield and Horn as offhands, what would you tweak and what mainhands would you suggest?
Id be more than happy to help, Which build are you referring to? The Hammer build or the greatsword/axe-horn one?
As for what mainhand for offhand. There are only a few I believe work well
Axe-Shield/Sword-Warhorn or vice versa with mainhands. Its kinda how you use it. If you go 10 into arms anytime, you should get unsuspecting foe with axe-shield so that you can shield bash → Eviscerate for guaranteed hit+100% crit
Valkyrie/Cavalier Gear would suit Hammer Best because of unsuspecting foe. You only need 30% crit base chance which becomes 50% with fury, so when you Earthshaker, your not wasting more stats on precision for over 100% chance to crit.
This is the Boon duration hammer build from my thread.
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8|2.1g.hm|c.1g.h1l.e.1g.hm|1g.71g.1p.71g.1g.71i.1p.71i.1p.71i.1p.71i|2v.0.2v.0.3v.0.2v.0.31j.0.2v.0|a5.a4.k1a.a1.k6a
My warrior mostly is last man standing, these so called bunker guardians die before me.
Saying warriors are useless tanky is not true, I got 3.350 armor 31k health, buffed I got 47% crit chance and 2.1k power (unbuffed). I run shout/heal/cc build. I often fight 1vs1 in WvW and barely lose them. I don’t burst kitten down with 3 skills, fights are often dragged out, but I do hit around 1k-2.5k/hit with my hammer and if I get 1 chain cc down, I win. I played full zerker, I played condi, I played balanced build, I played tanky. And I can say I have never had so much fun with my warrior as when I played him full bunker.
Idealy warriors stats are very high but without proper boons, they fall a tad short compared to what guardians can achieve in pure mitagation/condition removal. You may survive longer due to perhaps higher mobility and higher skill. May I ask for your build for comparison? I definitely like the idea of a Warrior who can sustain his hp and dish out enough to still be threat, and still need to research more on how other warriors do so.
I’m also curious what I could do if I moved points/traits around to use Hammer. 100% uptime on Fury with +50% crit chance vs stunned enemies could be quite nice … plus a Hammer warrior with a good bit of mobility and toughness seems quite scary. Could use Mace or Axe as the other weapon set’s mainhand.
That is a bit overkill in terms of crit chance as 50% with fury is enough. If you want to Use hammer I can suggest looking at my build which centers around Hammer and sword-shield.
interesting approach going 15 def/15 disc instead of 30 defense.
one thing though, blood-lust and perception will not work together, you can stack only one type of stat
The 15 in Defense gives the minimum Defensive stats (i would desire) and the 15 in discpline for fast hands and sigil mastery boosts Dps considerably without losing out on too much defense. (Fast hands means being able to adapt and use cooldowns more often and much more appropriately at given scenarios, both offensive and defensive, and Signet mastery is a considerable uptime on signet of rage and signet of staminas cooldowns which could mean killing or living)
I didn’t know that about sigils, which in case I would switch the bloodlust for a Sigil of hydromancy, and use bloodlust on another weapon to stack the power gain.
A Guardian on a DPS build has the same survivability of this but double damage.
Warrior isn’t born for tank specs…
I agree that Guardian Dps will have the same survivability and double the damage perhaps, but I believe guardians excell vs Condition dmg more so than actual physical dmg. Warriors do have a bit better access in gaining dmg but have a harder time mitigating it, while Guardians have it in reverse.
A Guardian on a DPS build has the same survivability of this but double damage.
Warrior isn’t born for tank specs…He’s not trying to tank, he’s being “tanky.” If he runs with a guardian or two in his party he will get protection and regen and truly become a tank while dealing ok damage and providing support to his team in a different manner than a guardian. I’m not saying this build is perfect but you don’t need to go full damage as a warrior.
This is kinda my thought behind the idea of a “Tanky” warrior while still retaining some decent offense. Warriors generally excell in obtaining more offensive stats/boons but lack the defense boons of prot/regen. Warriors traits/skills are great offensively, but really lacks in Defense without mitigation and some condition removal. Guardians get plenty of condition removal and prot/regen and other boons to give them more survivability. The major benefit of warriors lies in the fact that we naturally have the highest hp/armor base wise (which means nothing without the right boons/skills but makes it a bit easier to go offensive without feeling completely fragile). If guardians also had 18k base health and heavy armor, they will excel so much in defense with their boons/traits/condition removal, that they would completely dominate with full zerk gear compared to warriors.
I just wanted to open the idea to warriors to view P/V/T gear and other gear that offer some extra survivability can tip the scale in the favor of warriors who want to be in the fray longer and still be a threat. A full P/V/T warrior without any Dps is just a CC/support bot, and a Mix P/V/T and Cleric warrior is a warrior trying to be a bunker/support guardian but far less viable.
Warriors are naturally capable of decent damage simply through power and traits/boons we have.
Can you do an Ultimate Juggernaut Guardian?
Now that would be awesome.
Haha It would be a bit harder since Guardians have low Dps Traits and low hp naturally. They are far better against conditions, and normally can obtained tons of boons with ease. If I am to make a Juggernaut Guardian he would be more of a tank rather than a Dps Hammer Beast. I have seen some Guardians with full dps specs hitting 4-6k Might Blows, but still being tanky-ish due to signet of judgment + protection boon. I might try doing a Juggernaut build for Guardian that relies heavily on Valkyrie gear and burst dmg with hammer (Juggernaut = Tanky but Large bursts on some small window with Hammer as main weapon.)
I will post my work here and in guardians forum if I happen to make it soon.
Hi, Im here to contribute another Build for warriors who don’t want to go full Dps and be more sturdy but not walk around hitting things with a stick. I have two Warriors lvl 80, and I have separate builds for each of em. My norn wants to be sturdy but still strike some serious dmg, while my Human warrior Wants to smash everything it sees (ultimate Juggernaut build).
Many people look down on P/V/T builds in thinking that they can’t possibly do anything but soak damage and support your team with shouts/heals/revives/cc. The build I present to you is Theory Crafted but I will be pursuing this build for my Norn warrior because I believe he deserves a “Sturdy Body” but still be able to deal damage to the enemy who comes near him.
Pros:
- 46% dmg reduction = Like a full zerk warrior with perma protection
- 30k+ Health
- Perma fury/swiftness and 8+ stacks of Might (280 Power/Cond)
- Adrenal regen + Healing Surge + shout heals , give decent regen
- Soldier Runes = condition removal
- Utilities are also Flexible based on rune choice/scenarios
- Support Shouts
- Can Use GS instead of sword/warhorn, although I believe Warhorn with 30% boon duration is superior than GS (but Whirlwind/Rush are great to Have)
- Can adjust runes to Forge/Earth for Protection Boon
- Berserker power + (Empowered) + Sigil of fire + (8+ stacks of might) + 25 stack of bloodlust + Axe auto/Eviscerate (single target encounters) + [55% crit chance with perma fury and 25 stack of perception] + [25% crit dmg = 1.75 dmg crits] = Decent damage for a tanky spec (about 3.5~4k effective power)
Cons:
- Lacks true healing without healing power
- Can never achieve the same true tanky/sustain prowess as other classes
- Lacks heavy dps compared to Heavier Dps Specced builds
- Team oriented Design, Will be average to subpar in 1v1 scenarios
This build is flexible in its design due to the fact that every point spent on defense, cuts back on offense and vice versa. The only Major tool warriors have is perma fury and might stacks for offensive gains, while other classes Generally get Regen/protection which allows them to spec more Offensively.
________________________________________________________
Another two Build that boasts Tanky stats but is slightly more offensive
About 69% crit chance compared to 55%, and few extra damage in crit dmg and overall stats, but losses 3k hp.
losses more Hp but gains more offensive stats/dmg.
Please help contribute to builds that offer strong defensive stats but still has a punch to hurt an enemy, as I feel Warriors need more diversity in their design besides Dps and Support specs. I try to make atleast 50k Effective health pool a minimum.
Rifle is better Single target Dps (boss/1v1/Champions)
But Longbow Does the best AOE dmg/Aoe Conditon and has a pretty nifty single target Snare.
I always Carry both for different scenarios
Yeah, can’t live without it.
^ Without a doubt its the best profession trait warriors have. Almost Can’t make a build without it being there.
^ Yes
Ah ok, Well for both PvE builds there isn’t any unsuspecting foe trait because without hammer its practically useless, so I am trying to obtain a moderate amount of crit chance because the rest of my gears already have alot of investments in crit dmg and tanky stats to cover up the rest of the things I need.
Ruby Orbs will do you just fine Until you get super rich and can afford divinity runes, as they are the most stat efficient runes. But Ruby orbs will do just fine as well, just need to adjust stats to your liking. I recommend you try my build in PvP (Just adjust stats to your liking, make sure to use the same weapon set and traits) to practice dodging, and using mobility skills to get used to the mechanics better (that build helped me learn alot).
Healing Surge, I use Signet of Stamina for Conditions
The choice between valkyrie and berserker depends on how i achieve 100% crit chance on stun. Can you explain which builds your referring to? The PvE one or the WvW ones?
Golly your sitting on alot of crit chance and trying to use lifesteal to maintain health. After the nerf on crit food gaining health, Its a bit harder to become more tanky using this spec. I had a build in which you essentially depend on dodge/evade and block to be your major defenses and sustained with heal/adrenal regen. It was a sword-shield/GS build that Boasted high dmg and its stats for toughness/vit was low but I died less with that build because it demanded so much mobility/dodge. This allowed me duel and do damage and survive longer than other builds which kinda made me face tank stuff. Hmm I can make a few builds to make you achieve Decently high dps, and still have some strong defense for your build.
This is how I would rework your build. Personally I think GS and axe/axe doesn’t go super well with each other, as say axe/shield, or sword/shield. I feel adrenal regen is quite helpful (360/3 sec is 120/s regen = 3600 sec in 30 seconds, practically a small heal, but its helpful since GS doesn’t use burst skill ever)
[Utilities: Healing surge/Stability Stance/(your choice)/Signet of Stamina/Signet of rage]
You still get around 90% crit chance with heightened focus + 25 stack of perception, so you will crit often enough to heal on both weapons + still have 47% damage mitigation.
I will put my old dueling build which worked so well for me in all places = WvW/PvP/PvE and even in dungeons. (always carry a ranged weapon)
Note: I didnt have ascended stuff back then so my build that i show would be what would be the case if i continued to use it and tried to obtain the gear for it.
[Utilities: Healing surge/Stability Stance/Bull Rush/Signet of Stamina/Signet of Rage]
I switched sweet revenge in the discipline tree for mobility strikes in WvW. It was a high mobility (5 gap closers = Rush/Whirlwind/Savage Leap/Bull Rush/Shield Bash) + swiftness from signet of rage, really steady high dps. Between Whirlwind evade, Shield Block, dodging with endurance regen from signet of stamina, you can mitigate big damage by practicing your timing. I never used burst skills, unless it was furry in WvW to chain it up with Hundred Blades. If your ever in trouble -> pop stability stance, jump away with any number of leaps and use signet of stamina to wipe all conditions =)
I also made a build for fun but went a bit more offensive as I don’t believe full defense is the way to go without some damage.
http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/warrior/?8.0|7.1c.h17.e.1c.h1|c.1c.h4.g.1c.h8|1c.7x.1c.7x.1c.7x.1c.7x.1c.7x.1c.7x|2u.0.2u.0.3u.0.2u.0.3u.0.2u.0|a5.0.f2.u68c.f6|39.7|0.0.0.0.0|e
46% damage reduction, 56k effective HPYou can get up to about 56% crit chance by getting stacks for 250 precision, and almost perma fury between signet of rage and For great justice since its a shout build.
Utilities: [Heal of choice (suggest healing surge)/For great justice/Shake it off/Signet of Stamina(can be on your mark or any other utility)/Signet of Rage]
With axe and 56% crit chance/fire sigil/ 2k+ power, you can still do good damage, support team with buffs/ and still tank-soak plenty of damage.
That’s still hardly an offense…
Doesn’t even hit 3k effective power xD
It doesnt take into account sigil stacks/fury/sigil of fire blasts/the 8+ might stacks he can keep between signet of rage/for great justice or empowered bonus. Id say its almost 4k effective power if you take all into acount. Which I think is pretty nice for a build that boasts some nice tanky stats/condition removal.
I also made a build for fun but went a bit more offensive as I don’t believe full defense is the way to go without some damage.

46% damage reduction, 56k effective HP
You can get up to about 56% crit chance by getting stacks for 250 precision, and almost perma fury between signet of rage and For great justice since its a shout build.

Hi. What do u think about PVE, how would you change your build for dungeons\fractals? thx.
Hmm, For PvE I generally Don’t run Hammer too often as its major use would be for AOE cc. It’s damage really doesn’t compare to GS or axe/x or even longbow in PvE. Hammers real specialty shines in WvW. Since i am Lazy i do actually run the exact same set up even in some dungeons/pve content; but for the purpose of someone who is capable of switching some small stuff around, This is what I would do (i always carry a longbow/rifle in any situation, even in WvW, when there is no choice but to turtle on a tower).
If i don’t change traits for the first build i posted, I believe rifle suits this build better (Longbow is good too, but no 10 points into tactics to grab trait) keeping all gear the same except the food/weapon to increase crit chance:
If I use the second build without changing traits, I would prefer Longbow (fire field combines better to give might stacks due to boon duration, and can grab trait):
And if you don’t like to use a ranged weapon, Both builds can use GS as the secondary or axe/(mace/warhorn/sheild). Personally I think Longbow/GS/Rifle will serve you best in PvE. Hammer can do some decent damage AOE wise and give some CC to offer a bit more survivability in Higher level fractals/Large zerg mobs, But generally Hammer is a subpar PvE weapon. Its Strongest Points are definitely seen in WvW/PvP against real players. If you don’t wish to change your build/weapons, it is still possible to play with the same spec, but It really hinders your team (generally 5 man group) if your not doing major DPS (unless aoe CC is necessary) or giving boons to your team. Either way there are a few skills you must note, that are useless in PvE that WvW requires most of the time.
*Mobility Strikes = dont generally get snared, and if u do just use signet of stamina or another condition cleanser
*Leg Specialist = don’t generally need a snare to catch a mob, as they are always aggroed to you/party
*Spiked Armor = Mobs don’t Crit (atleast not that I know of)
*Death From Above = Generally wont be falling to use that knockback/dmg for use, unless its to get to a place further down that you die without this trait
If you want more information for PvE stuff, or ways to work with different builds I can help =D

Try reading this.
You would do more dmg over all just by switching 10 from strength into discipline and grabbing either signet mastery or heightened focus (your choice but if u use signet of rage/another signet, i suggest signet of mastery). and take 5 out from arms into discipline as well for fast hands as it is far more useful for warriors than anything else in the trees at 15 points. Either that or put 10 points more into vit for the heals on shout. I think your a little branched out in a difficult way.
