A agree with you. Some maps are really rare to get since nobody votes for them.
Maybe Anet could allow those achievements be done in Hot Join? So everybody could choose the map they need.
I played only few matches in the new map. Overall I liked the new configuration of mid point. It gives a stronger perception you are fighting in a battle arena.
I don´t know if something is done to those players. Anet should post weekly/monthly reports clarifying all players what has been doing: “Month X we suspended 200 players for 1 hour for afk during pvp, banned 50 accounts, etc.”
By so doing, we all know that toxic chat, abuse, cheating, exploit, etc. are being punished. Otherwise, we feel like nothing is being done.
I watched a video from a pro player once saying: “the team must create the oportunity for the thief or I will be useless in this match”. Opportunity in this case means +1 on points or neutralize unprotected points.
It really depends on the situation. If a thief see a fast kill, that´s ok for him to stay in a team fight and help. Otherwise, it will be completely useless stay in a long fight. It will be much more productive go neutralize other point and come back fast.
Main role of thieves has always been to rotate points and +1 on points. Stay and fight a 3×3 or 4×4 in most of cases is not worth.
No kidding, 5 matches in a row I got a team with 1 dc and we lost a 4×5.
In 2 matches, the guy who dc was exactly the same.
There are lot of players that have no idea of strategy or profession/build basic rule on the match. Any player of any level can play pvp, no problem at all. The actual problem is when do not listen to you: “Don´t leave mid”, “Don´t go to lord”, “Don´t go alone fight a 2×1”, etc…
Golden Ooze nearly impossible to complete
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Try to use DH with longbow. I saw a solo player kill the golden ooze by luring him in circles (healer oozes can´t catch the golden ooze) and shooting from distance with longbow with some traps to help the dps.
Btw, Legendary Vinetooth Prime is much harder to kill. It took me 1 week to find a map with players who know that we must cc him.

My opinion: update the cap limit by 500 points every year. Therefore, the players who reached the limits will have some extra points that can be completed in two months or so. At same time, the players that haven´t reached the limit will be able to catch up sooner or later.
176 matches
104 wins
100% solo queue
In this season I got in the range I think I deserve: Ruby or Diamond since I am a very average player. However, it was absolutely impossible for me to win on seasons 2 or 3 (I lost near 30 matches in a row and gave up) because of the MMR hell. Now, the same player, same skill level, I went from Amber to Diamond in less than 150 matches.
I do agree that these achievements were available for a reasonable time. However, it overlaped with S4…
I was busy with S4 and only now I have time to do the achievements of Capricorn. Unfortunatelly I wont be able to complete them since most of time people choose another map. No reason for it to be time limited.
Although I don´t play wvw very frequently, I do agree that it deservers its own legendary backpack. I would work on it
The main problem here is that Anet keeps silence, which make us think that absolutely nothing is done. You can afk/troll/verbal abuse as much you want and stay unpunished.
If they care, they should give something like a montly report: “we are working and last month, 50 players were banned and 200 players were suspended for 3 days”.
However, as the others stated, I hardly believe they care (and they still don´t figure out why the pvp pool players is small when compared to pve).

The current matchmaking has a very serious problem: it is the system who decides the winner. Once the system decided the player “belongs” to a tier, he will be locked forever on that tier. It doesn´t matter how good the player is or how much he improved over the season.
This problem with toxic players is frequent since 1st season and exist in every game. The real problem is when Anet doesn´t punish even when dozen of players report them.
As someone stated, toxic players are never good players. They just think they are and blame the others for a loss.
I do agree that not everyone deserves Legendary (I include myself since I am casual pvp player). The wings, however, should be achievable over time to everyone after 4 or 5 seasons (and earlier to the best players).
I think I will not be able to cross all the necessary tiers this season. I hope next season be soon so I can get the wings.
Why do I get paired with 1 or other 2 thieves EVERY SINGLE match when I play as a thief? Meanwhile the other team has none. I am not exagerating, I need swap every single time. PS.: most of time it is not daily thief.
Anet profession balance working…
I was on mmr hell last season. No matter what I play, it was absolutely impossible to win. This season I am holding a good win ratio so far. It is the same player, same skill level.
As I stated in the lastest 2 seasons: what decides if you are going to win or lose is not related to your skill, but the system. The proof is that I advanced extremely easy playing on another free acount than in my main account on last season.

The reason I don´t buy any portal is that they don´t take you back to the place you were previously = fail. It is much easier just port to LA.
I tried to play this season to complete the wings. However, I gave up when I entered into the mmr hell. My matches became a complete blow up (300 points difference or more). One hint to Anet: players stop pvp if they lose like 20 matches in a row. It is obvious, but apparently they haven´t learned from season 2.
Btw: I created a f2p account just to check if the mmr hell was true. I reached diamond very easily playing in very casual way (just completing daily).
Anet will probably nerf Warrior, increase condition damage, etc…
Also, if you lose the 1st match in the season, you are going to lose forever…
I also would like to have solo queue back, but forget it. Anet won´t do this. It is because the number of players in pvp is so small that they can´t do this or the team queue will take forever. Everyday less players join arenas and this season are making things even worse.
I saw this kind of attitude many times. The rest of the team doesn’t agree with a player strategy (usually a very bad one), so he decides just afk. Worst of all, we report it with proof at team chat, but anet just doesn’t care.
Nice, congrats. It is not easy play thief nowadays, specially solo.
Overtime should be a good idea, but 100 points is too much. Maybe +50 points or the first team that kills 3 players, anything similar.
To me happened like 4×. As I remember, I was very luck the system decided my team was the winner in all matches. However, I think it would be fair if both teams win 1 pip (although some players could probably abuse of this score system).
It is not the 1st time it happens to me, but in this match I could not move for like 3 min no matter what I do: /sit, /dance, dodge, use movement skills, teleport, etc.
Unfortunatelly, my team lost the match because of this bug (we were winning by more than 100 points)…
I do agree with you. In such even match, nobody should lose a pip.
My team was winning, but suddenly my char could not move at all. I got locked in the same place and could not help my team. It was not lag or anything similar since I could see all the fights around me and the moves. After the match was over and I went to pvp hall, I could move normally.
Anyone else experinced similar bug?
At least you reconize it is not you who is invencible, but it is the system that is favoring you (although I think you are probably a good pvp player).
The problem with the current system is that once you start losing, you enter into a spiral that is near impossible to end no matter how good you are. Anet really thinks players will keep playing pvp after 10 or 20 loses in a row? I am sure that the pvp players pool will reduce after this season if it is not changed very fast.
Best thieves Ive seen actually dont run straight far, they try to influence fight on mid for a bit… then they disengage, run far, decap it (and cap it when time) and go back mid to finish players.
That was what I mean by play smart. If the thief goes straight to far at the beginning of the match, he will face an enemy caping the point. It is not a role of a thief keep a point neutral. The thief goes there to neutralize it when it is unprotected.
Also, it is not guaratee that the enemy team will send 4 to mid. It is normal 1 of them go far or 1 extra player go their home just to escort the cap player. It all depends on how the teams will work.

There is nothing wrong in pushing far. It depends on how the team will work.
Also, do you expect a thief join a zerg fight of 4×4 on mid rather than keep rotation? Play smart. Adapt to your build/class and team composition. Thieves can ignore it when there is a tanker sitting there.

Sorry it doesn’t work. It isn’t’ going to prevent you from losing when your team plays conquest like it is edge of the mists. I’m totally fine losing to better players than me but when I can hold points 1v2 don’t lose 1v1 and my team is still getting steamrolled something is wrong. I have about a 40% win rate in emerald but it is nearly impossible to advance because I can’t get a decent team 3 times in a row.
I also dont bother losing to better players than me. As you said, the problem is when you can win a 1×1 or even hold a 1×2, but your team is so weak that the enemy kill them all and kitten you in a 1×3 fight. If anet doesn’t change the matchmaking in the next few days, the pvp season will be dead.
I didn’t know this glitch. It explains why I got immobilized like 5 times in a row when I was fighting a Ranger. I cleansed the cc and 1s later got immobilized again and again and again…
I do agree with much of what was said.
How do Anet expect new/casual pvp players get interested in arenas if they lose like 20 matches in a row? Do they think people still be playing after 1 entire week losing?
Some players just reply: get better. How someone can stand a chance of improving/practicing in a total uneven match? It is bad for the pvp population in general.
My last matches I lose or I won by a very large difference. Where is the fun on that? You won’t learn much by facerolling other teams. Actually hard games/lost games teach more than wins, imo.
But it was what I said: nobody can improve if his team is completely destroyed or the opposite (faceroll the enemy team). One can only practice on even matches.
Um no, i personally learned more from losing games than winning.
OK, but take my last match as example. I lost by like 500 × 50. Every single time I tried to neutralize a point, the enemy team jumped on me in a 1×3 fight. Do you think someone learn from this type of fight? I don’t. The contrary is also true if we win too easily.
I do agree with much of what was said.

I have been playing this weekend and since Friday my win ratio raised to +-80%. It is more strange that now I am playing in higher division and matches should be harder.
As I stated before, my win ratio during the entire week (20%) was very strange and not related to my skill. I am an average player, not so bad to hold 20% and not so good to keep 80% (not in division I was). This mmr is playing with us.
The devs already stated that the system will be changed in next season.
I was holding 20% win ratio during the entire week. However, yesterday I reached division 4 and now I got 7 wins in a row (theoretically it should be harder matches).
It just shows what I was saying: the cause of defeats were not me alone, but the mmr system that was acting very strange earlier.
Unfortunatelly, one can troll, use very offensive language, lose in purpose, etc., and even if the other 9 players report this player with proof in log chat, nothing will happen.
I said many times here in the forum that this kind of behavior makes people give up on pvp, but anet does nothing.
To be fair, I finally reached division 4 tonight. I won 4 and lost 2 matches.
The only thing I still think is strange is that in 3 matches one of the teams had like 3 thieves, or 3 rangers, etc. while the another had none or only 1. It is like the class balance is not working.
They made it in purpose so it would not be possible complete some achievements in only 1 season. Also, the legendary wings are not intended to be crafted in 1 season.
Evan, will there be some type of “Season 1 results” board that shows the number of games played, won, lost, % win, and final division for all participants?
This should be great.
I am in the same situation as Constantin: since last update is near impossible for me win two matches in a row. As I remember it happened only once. I played dozen of matches changing classes and the time of the day, but th normal thing is: I win 1 and lose 3~4. I can see very clear that my team is always the weakest, so I am not the cause of the defeats (not completely and not in this ratio).
Unfortunatelly you were right
After the 2 wins, I lost 4 matches in a row… in the last one I got stuck in the wall due to the bug already reported here in the forum. Solution? Anet doesn’t care.
I finally won 2 matches. It is a miracle! I hope I can go to normal (55% win ratio) again.
The enemy team was clearly weaker than my team in those 2 matches.
I noticed also that some of those matches were meant to be lost no matter what you do. For instance, the system set 3 thieves on one side against 3 dh on another (all solo players). Must I say which side won?
My win ratio went from 55% to 20% after the patch – considering only ranked arenas obviously.
I feel sorry for you. Losing a match because of a bug is really frustrating
Match Making Ratings have been frozen since the last patch Friday. Lots of people are experiencing what you are or the exact opposite – unusually high win rates. Most are not since they are Plebs who always have a mid-ranged MMR like the above posters.
If that is true it is a great problem. All my chars are having this issue and it is absolutely impossible to win 2 matches in a row.
Unfortunatelly, it seems Anet reads this forum once per month. It will be impossible for me to reach Division 4 before the season ends… Bye legendary wings in season 3.
