I agree that Twitch is not the best reference to measure population increase/decrease. For instance, many of those new players still don’t watch Twitch. Also, I play gw2 since release and don’t watch Twitch frequently.
In pve I haven’t noticed much difference in population growth, but I have seen lots of new players in pvp (it can be just my first impression)
Today a guild (I will not name it, but most of you have already found them if you do Tequatl daily) trolled during the event. They intentionally pulled the Bloated Creepers (the mobs who explode an create a poison field) into the zerg and explode them when everybody is gathering to the burst stages.
It is not the first time I see this guild doing this, but on the 1st time I was not sure. Now I clearly saw the members of this guild pulling the mob.
Worst of all, when a player dies and complains about this behavior, they just say things like “If you are dumb enough to die to it, then you deserves to die”.
I think there are already a lot of topics talking about hot join problems.
Recently it is near impossible to end a match on the same team. Although this kind of match is intended to practice, it is near impossible to do so due to unbalance in the matches.
Some changes I suggest:
- If a player leaves a match, he is unable to join another for 5 min.
- Players no longer choose map or team. They just queue “practice arena” and are directed to a match when it is ready (a “ready” button is necessary so avoiding afk players).
- Someone joins team A only when other player also join team B, so keeping the teams with same number always.
- If someone leaves a match, other player on the queue automatically joins the match so keeping the same number of players on the teams.
- The system will keep populating the arenas with the players on the queue.
Please, put your suggestions to improve hot join/practice matches.
Some of the mistakes are forgivable since there are new players who are still learning.
The one mistake I don’t forgive at all is 2 teamates capping a safe point.
It depends on playstyle to define which class is easier.
In fact, I think you need to adapt to each class. Elementalist D/D is meta, but it is not so easy to do the rotation at first. Shatter mesmer has good surviability and is pretty annoying to enemies, but you must know how use portals, how positionate, etc. Thieves in general are good to keep rotation, so you need to play smart. And there are observations for every class/build.

Got The Colossus from Melandru escort event and precursor for Spear in some Dwayna attack event (I don’t remember which one).
After the last patch, I noticed that the log in screen in the game was improved with closer view of the chars (or just my impression?).
However, here my suggestions to improve the log in screen:
- Better control of char selection. It is annoying when you have more than 8 chars (currently I have 10) and have to roll over all them until find the char you want to play.
- Show all daily achievements, so we can choose which char is better to complete it.
- Show the complete achievements tab (as it is in the game), so we can choose which achievement we will try to complete.
- Show the backpack and weapons being used by the chars. I have a legendary and I want to see it on log screen
The Colossus dropped for me during Melandru escort event. Instead of selling it directly, I forged the legendary and sold for very good amount of gold.
My opinion: some parts of the game must be easy or for casual players, whereas other parts should more challenging (e.g. some temples, bosses, etc.). However, for those harder parts, the rewards need to be increased since the current ones don´t worth the extra effort.
Hotjoins have only two purposes: test/train builds, and complete dailys (that´s why people wait to join the winning team).
My suggestions to improve hotjoin:
- It shouldn´t be allowed to choose the team.
- The match is balanced in numbers all the time, so a new player will join one of the teams only if there is also another player waiting in the queue.
- Reward is the same for winners and losers.
- Daily class win on pvp should be removed. Instead, put something like play 3 matches.
Today was double daily engineer pvp, so many of them playing.
I didn´t use the grenade barrage since I know it is bugged or unbalanced. However, near all engineers I met used it at will. Anet needs to solve this problem or balance this skill asap.
There is a post in the forum suggesting some changes in the Bank Tab so we could organize it better. For instance, name Tabs, resize them as you wish, etc.
I would buy a tool like this if available. It would be awesome to have Tabs for materials, armors, etc.
Good news. I think it is a fair move to “veteran” players.
Something I noticed is that in many matches of EOTM the map is “dead” after 1 or 2h. If one team is losing badly, they give up even earlier.
My suggestion is reduce the reset time for EOTM map from the currently 4h to 2h.

I don’t play ranked since I just play for achievements. In unranked I always alert on chat team to where I go. Unfortunatelly, most of players don’t say what they intend to do.
I agree that although those tips are quite obvious, many players don’t follow them.

I agree with that. All the good players (the really skilled ones) I met until today just kill you. They don’t need to say things like “I am good” because you can see it very clearly.
That’s this kind of behavior that makes me hate pvp.
For instance, some time ago I met an engineer that started the match this way: “Hello everybody. I am the #1 NA engineer. If you don’t wan’t to die, just leave the point.”
In fact, he was good, but keep saying to everybody he killed: “too easy” or “I told you”.
My only explanation is that there r lot of 8 years old guys playing pvp.

I am also missing events. They could re-release something just to keep us busy until HOT is ready. Could be a festival, a wvw season, anything that gives stuff and achievement points.
Ty for the advice. I did some minor events with the chars before the boss. I will try change map to see if it works.
I forgot to mention: I didn’t get the chest after killing Cobalt also, but aparently it is a problem for most of the players or a bug.
I am having this problem recently. From 2 days in a row I got only 3 chests from Tequatl instead of 4 (missing the yellow one). Also, I just killed Jormag and no chest at all for me.
Before you ask, I do these bosses only once a day and do a lot of damage, so no reason for the chest not spawnming for me.
Anyone having the same issues?
In my opinion power ranger is not so OP as some other builds. As some have already said, this build needs to be properly played to be effective (know about rotations, chose right position, etc.). If the ranger is caught in not favorable conditions, he is useless. Also, power ranger is not able (as most thieves, necromancers and mesmers) to hold points.
I have seen some duels also. Nothing against it, but do not complain if you are killed by other player or a zerg. How the others are we supposed to know you are dueling?
If you are new to pvp, in my opinion warrior or guardian are the easiest classes to start.
Although elementalist and engineer have good builds right now, they require some practice about skill rotation, combos, etc.
Of course, it is just my opinion since each player adapts faster to certain class/build.
It depends from player to player what is considered hard to play.
In my case I consider hard any zerk build. It needs a lot of experience, right positioning, knowing of when attack or not, etc.
I agree with much of what have said.
I was trying to complete some pvp achievements today, so played 2 matches and give up. On the last match we faced a complete pre made team of guardians. Once we saw it we already knew the match was lost since we were all solo.
necros are real threat when they are able to play on safe position, so they can spread a lot of conditions and pressure on the other team.
The problem is when the enemy team focus attention on you since necro has few options to scape/run.
This mmr system is completely broken. Even the old system (alleatory teams) were more balanced.
I am not a good player, but I am not so bad also. Before this mmr, I had about 55% wins ratio. Now I lost most of the matches by far.
If the player keep losing, so adjust him to a lower level. If he win too much, match him against higher ranked players; a constanst adjustment. Aparently this simple idea is hard for Anet to figure out.
Turret eng.
I have read suggestions of how fight them. Many players say: just kill the rocket turret and you win. However, I think they never tried to kill a turret using condition damage build.What class? Power kills the rocket, conditions are supposed to kill the engineer. Engineer has a single condi removal tied to their heal and it only removes 2.
But I can’t get close enough to the engineer to apply a resonable amount of conditions due to the turrets. If I just keep fighing long range, it takes forever to kill him.

I am a very casual pvp player, I do not want team. I just want play 1 or 2 matches to complete daily and very basic achievements.
Btw, MMR does not work (never had).
I got an underwater precursor defeating the High Wizard in Arah.
It is the only one that dropped for me so far (I play since the release).

MMR is completely broken.
I am not a good pvp player and just play to complete basic achievements. Before this MMR system I had about 50% wins. Now, in 70% of time I got a team that is massacred. My win ratio is now about 20% or so.
I agree that those wvw titles should be redefined. Mainly because there are different server populations. For instance, my server is not great (currently tier 4). Depending on the week match I can take like 1h to kill 10 players so how can I possible kill 250,000? For small servers wvw ultimate titles are impossible.
I liked the idea of a permanent Way Point Pass.
Also, I should buy those items if released:
- A organizing bank tool, which you could split the bank space in tabs and organize the way you want (space only for armors, only for weapons, etc.)
Also, you have only 4 Gb memory. It is too few even for softer programs nowadays.
I have seen lot of players trolling in the game. For instance, putting trebuchets to hit doors in WvW, mesmers creating fake portals just to kill other players, messing with events, etc.
And it is very frequent. I see it Every Single Day!
However, I can’t see any option to report for trolling, bad behavior, etc. There are options only for scamming, bad language, etc.
For me, Claws of Jormag event didn’t give me the chest (it is invisible) for 3x in a row, even with me getting the credits for the event.
I play it once a day and sure do enough damage and participate in all events.
Played tonight and got my 15th defeat in a row! Before the patch I had 50% victories.
Anet makes very clear it doesn’t want solo players. So as soon I complete basic achievements, pvp never more.
Like the guy above said: casual players do not want to use TS or spend time to organize a team, etc. We only want log on, play 2 or 3 matches spending few minutes. Solo arena worked that way. Now it is ruined because if you don’t team up, the chances of victory are small.
I am a solo player since I am very casual to PVP, so no team or TS for me.
Before the patch I had 52% victories, but now it dropped to like 20%. It is Anet saying: victories now only for players with teams. No more casuals.
For me, changing the server worked. I guested at Anvil Rock or Jade Quarry and was able to play with the chars.

All my chars on Cursed Shore and Dry Top are stuck.
I can’t log any char of mine that is currently on the cursed shore map. Apparently pvp solo arena maps have the same issue. The map screen loading stays there forever.
The chars that are on other maps like Lion’s Arch are working normal. However, if I wp them to Cursed Shore and log out, they stay stuck there since I can’t load the map.
Btw: I hope the problem with the pvp arena map doesn’t count towards punishment ticket for me since I could do nothing to enter the map.
My conqueror title achievement is stuck at 993 right now and don’t go any further. I tried to play solo pvp (arena) and hot join, but the conqueror track don’t change (of course after winning a match).
Am I missing something? I usually play pvp just for daily.
My server is also so outnumbered that the green server hold the entire EB since yesterday and in order to hold it, an entire zerg stands at WP exit. The match is so uneven that our BL is near all green also. Thanks Anet for making me give up WvW.
Completely agree with you. We are not asking to debuff Liadri, but after 4 weeks the bugs are still there. I died dozen of times because I cant hit the “obstructed” orb.
Also, it is very annoying to run all the way back after dying.
Please, Anet, listen to the players.
I definitely would buy a make up kit to copy marjory delaqua face. In fact, it is missing more eastern face options in the game.
