Chill has been in the game for 3 years doing the same thing and there have been builds that have 100% uptime with it on several classes in that 3 year time span yet only now it’s OP as a base?

5 classes have abilities that remove the condition specifically, 5 have traits that reduce its duration.

The only real complaints I understand is from elementalists because it messes with their attunement swaps.

Yeah but in those years chill used to be very limited and when it was applied itd only be for 3 or 4 seconds, now they went ahead and slapped chill everywhere and its rlly not fun anymore. Maybe youd understand if u got perma chilled all the time

Remove all traits that can passively remove chill, don’t treat chill as a condi so it can’t be dispelled, just like alacrity that can’t be removed. Then ok. Otherwise, don’t compare.

Execpt that ala doesnt increase move speed or give health to the mesmer. Plus ala is only on 1 class anyways, so its balanced

Maybe if you were the one getting chilled and had insanely longer cds and the lower move speed with 1k dps a tick u wouldnt be calling it balanced. You do realize perma-Chill was possible by at least three builds before HoT released, right? One of which is an Ele build. (the other two being Ranger and Necromancer).

Chill is deadly. It’s supposed to screw you up royally while not actually preventing you from doing anything. And yes, Reaper puts out a lot of it. You do realize the point of Reaper was “if you’re caught, you’re screwed,” right? Reaper chill application at range is pathetic.

So all things considered, yes. Chill is balanced. The ones who put out oppressive amounts are also those that are designed to not be ones you want to brawl against. If you’re having issues with Chill, avoid the application, since large amounts are reliant on short range.

I do feel that Attunement cooldowns shouldn’t be affected by Chill, however.

You’re stupid lol, if you really think chill on reaper or in general is balanced then idk what to say with u. Chill lowers move speed by 66%, which makes it really easy for a reaper to catch up to someone (unless its a dd), and then spam chill. Chill is not balanced, it completely kittens someone up, especially if its from reaper. Just stop, seriously

the reason they suck is because they go full glass cannon and no way to mitigate damage or debuff enemies

Title says it all, i cant tell anyone how broken these 2 are. 1 can evade for days and do insane dps at the same time (cough cough thief), the other can casually hit for 20k+ with ridiculously low cds and too many ways to avoid dps and has some insane cc locking(looking at you warrior).

A good to start to nerfing war and teef would be to reduce the evades on thief side (funny how people think perma evading is balanced) and remove initative and give them cds like everyone else. Also they def need their mobility nerfed. Its just too much

As for warrior stances needs to get deleted since all of them are wayy to strong, and a 75%dps nerf on all skills would be needed as well. Also warriors shouldnt be getting fh baseline, i think its fair that they have to choose for it and fh being baseline could open up some even more more broken builds (imagine how op defense/strength/berserker would be)
Overall though these changes are rlly needed and though some might get mad cause they dont want their op class to get nerfed, itd be for the better of the game and would def make things more balanced.

Plz do, even if its only up to 7 it would Rlly help us out, just make it so the passive doesnt virtue doesnt stack it, reason is cause aegis as of now is easy to counter just by pressing auto and doesnt do enough to make us wanted. If it was like up to 8 stacks we’d have a role in pvp cause nobody else brings aegis to the table.

And the only condi move torch has is 4…. I think making mace and scepter condi weapons would rlly help guard alot more since they can only go power and thats about to get gutted with the next patch. Also movement speed is still wanted

Ive actually played around 8k games, but whatever. Also only noobs qq about balance. Balance in this game is fine besides war/thief which needs to be brought up to other elites level

Play some thief, preferrably D/D thief (absolutely lethal especially in pvp) and then you’ll see what the other classes can do. They have basically no opening – it feels to me (wvw, I don’t really play pvp) as if everybody just memorizes some rotation and goes over and over until either he or the enemy is dead.
In wvw against a thief I hit around 6 (dire) to 9 (zerker) k. A full zerker thief has got 12k HP. So lets just buff thief damage so that they will one shot each other. Every other class on the other hand has got their passive and active invulnerabilities/protection, tankiness, boons and stuff and massive cleave – even if a thief hit for 30k he wouldn’t really have a chance. So best would to be to tone all other classes a bit down and rethink the formulas for tankiness/damage as they seem out of control since June.

Yeah thieves and wars need a huge buff, no denying that

well actually thief and warrior should NOT be buffed to meet the other classes every other class should be nerfed to meet with thief and warrior to counter the constant power creep.
if you havent ran into a single premade or hardly any you are extremely lucky.
people should not be forced to go bunker to avoid all the damage because that just causes more problems there should be a “holy trinity” between bunker, zerker, and condi not everyone and their dog going condibunker the META is indeed messed up and people who say it isnt are in denial. guardian traps are way too overtuned, bunker mesmer is super tanky with lots of damage, rev is overpowered (the hammer skill 2 hits like a truck and is on a 2 second cooldown), thief cant do ANYTHING anymore, but yeah i suppose the META is just fiiiiiiiiiine as long as everyone continues to only use 4 classes (rev, guardian, mesmer, scrapper) and only using condi bunker builds then the META will be just fiiiiiiine.

lastly anet doesnt read the forums because theyre too busy screaming “EEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSPOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRTTTTTTTTSSSSSSS”

Seriously, too much people qq about everything. Match making is alright, the chances of being a soloquer fighting premades is really rare (never happens to me unless i wueue with a buddy and im in ruby…) And then theres balance lol… Seems the main 2 classes that people kitten way too much about is rev and mesmer, even though nobody ever says what is or how they’re op. These same guys say all elite specs need to be brought be brought down to berserker or thieves thieves level, lol. If anything thief and warrior needs to be brought up if u ask me. And then theres alot of people qqing about this meta. But if somebody specced themselves to be a bunker, shouldnt they be lasting long instead of being insta downed by 3. No wonder anet doesnt even read these forums anymore

As of now in this game, revs are literally only good with herald, not one of their top builds don’t use it. If these changes would happen then there would be a lot more build diversity instead of the typical shiro/glint, shiro/Malays builds we see now

Jalis Stance
This stance is really underpowered, and has too much energy costs

Heal_ This should remove more condis

Vengeful Hammers- this is fine

Forceful Engagement- Increase slow to 4 seconds and make it unrefletable

Stone Road- Really not worth the 10 sec cd tbh, make the road build faster and pulse imbo

RoTg- This should pulse stab for the cast time, have a 2 sec daze or stun to nearby enemies, and reduce condi dps baseline.

Ventari- Again, its too underpowered

Change the heal so that it heals you and nearby allies for 5k as soon as you spawn it, and the heal for when the tablet is spawned should heal allies for 2-3k when it gets to the location, not when it passes through

Protective silance- Its kinda fine, but increase the upkeep to -10 like shiro impossible odds and make it block all attacks instead. If not at least make it heal nearby allies for some amount

Natural Harmony- reduce energy cost and increase healing done to 3kish

P.E, increase condis removed to 5

Elite- Whole of idea of healing fragments is rlly dumb imo, just make it heal nearby sllies for the amount the healing orbs would give

Shiro- Only thing with this is the cd of pt, either reduce it to 3 seconds or make it so if u hit the enemy it has no cd

Offhand sword, s4 energy cost should be 5 for blocking and 5 for the wave, s5 should teleport you back even if u dont hit the target.

Edit: Staff 3 should reflect projectiles (thief autos track does this)

Mallyx should just go back to the way it was in bwe2 with something that makes condis unremovable from you, or at least please make embrace the darkness copy condis again

PS: I know there’s like a 2% chance this stuff will happen, especially with all the a about rev, but if these changes would happen then at least we won’t be too bothered by it

How to get berserker on dh level

Hey all coolguy comin back at you guys with some great suggestions. Tired of being the weakest class with the worst elite? Tired of getting whooped by every other classs execpt thief? Tired of being told to l2p against dhs, reapers and scrappers? Well lets show these pesky people how our elite can become as strong as the unstoppable dh. Lets begin

1.) Rage Skills
Probably the weakest skills in the whole game ever (literally), heres how you can make them just as strong as dhs traps

~ All rage skills should be unblockable and unblindable, also remove the condi dps and increase dps by 500% Also increase range 600 and add a 2 sec daze on all of them.

Headbutts stun duration should be to 6 seconds and shouldnt have a self stun in it. Druids get a 4 sec aoe daze that heals them to full on a 6 sec cd, why cant this be better?

Also make these rage skills stop looking so much like physicals and actually make them look like rage skills.

2.)Torch

Have 5 transfer condis to nearby foes and have 4 have a 3 sec daze to it, also increase dps of torch moves by 200% This weapon is like a confused monkey that cant tell if it wants to do physical or condi dps

3.) Berserk mode

~ Have it so when you enter berserk mode you become immune to condi and physical dps, increase attack speed to 50% and make all your attacks become unblockable and unevadable as well. Also remove condi dps from mace and sword and increase dps of all primal burst skills by 200%

4.) Traits

~Good start would be to actually make fast hands baseline.

Well hopefully this showed those elitists what for! If you have any more suggestions please feel free to add as berserker is bad that base warrior is better than it in every single way

To be honest cc is just out of control, its not just dh, chronos, druids,revenants all do way more cc than dh couls even hope to do. They really need to tone down the cc in this game, its just not fun being stunlocked or moad for 20 seconds straight and really ruins pvp imo.

Purity of purpose/Holes and Roles/Opportunity Cost
Purity of purpose: You don’t want something that does too many things at once. If everything does everything to equal levels, you don’t have this purity of purpose. You want things streamlined so players know how to use it and not too many tools within one toolbox.
Holes and Roles: You don’t want a single class to do things better than everybody else or else they end up as Apex predators. You want to put hoes in the roles so they don’t do everything good at once.
Opportunity cost: If an utility skill have too much utility, it overshadow other utility skills and no one would use the other utility skills. There need to be an opportunity cost for using for skill over the other.

Elementalist: Flexibility, jack of all trades, large skillsets. High AoE potential. High skill floor – hard for new players to jump in and high skill ceiling.
Weakness: Recovering from burst damage, but water attunement can help sustain the damage. Versatility is strength but also weakness – higher cooldowns on weapon skills. Inability to deal with booned enemies.
Official design: Versatility through weapon skills – we want to maintain that. Defense against sustained DPS is good and they are very supportive in most roles they assume. Low base HP is an intentional design so we can give them more support. Poor defense against spike damage is also intended so they have to wary about spike damage. Escapeability: Too much in the fast and helped them against spike damage. Inability against booned enemies is a specific hole in the role since they can AoE from ranged.

While there have been some ups and downs with ele i find it has generally stayed close enough to it’s design intentions. I have seen good players do some crazy stuff and bad players that couldn’t figure it out if you gave them a manual and a phone help line.

In my personal opinion, i find your suggestions in the original post as rather rushed and ill thought with no regard to any sort of balance.

The smoke field suggestion was downright amusing, did you at any given point ever consider the fact that ele has lots and lots of blast finishers and can access whirl finishers as well? what is to stop the ele from becoming a thief with near perma stealth or spamming blind bolts in pvp matches.

Invulnerable while overloading? why not make it so that elementalists never die, from anything, ever, it is pretty much what you are saying. That you should be allowed to nuke everything while completely invulnerable. God mode much?

I admit tempest has issues and warhorn is a mess, but players have found ways to play it, like say fresh air-arcana-tempest. It isn’t perfect and at some point the developers will probably give us better alternatives, but until then try to refrain from poorly thought of suggestions, it shines a bad light on the ele community as a whole and makes everyone look like they have no clue how to play and the developers will never listen. Check out some of the other threads with suggestions, there are a couple of them that are actually pretty good, and not game breaking.

If you read my post after this you shoulda seen that i knew itd be really broken if this happened, whole point of this thread was to show how you could make a weak elite like tempest as strong as dragonhunter.

As for the smokefield part, dude you know most of the blast. finishers eles have will get them revealed right? And if u take warhorn you’ll barely have any blast finishers, mh dagger or scepter really only has like 1 blast finisher so it wont be too op.

Alright yeah some of these suggestions were pretty broken (Like being invulnerable while overloading), whole point of this thread was just to show some ways you can make a weak elite like tempest be as strong as dh. On a more serious note, here are some less op buffs.

1.) Lighting orb should really let you become the orb since tempest literally has no mobility besides eye of the storm which is really weak if you ask me. Instead of making it evade, just have it reflect projectiles and make it as fast as ride the lighting. This isnt too op imo

2.) Eye of the storm definetly needs some quickness and a shock aura. This 45 cd stunbreak is kinda useless if you ask me

3.) As for overloads, since they have a 4 sec cast time and you cant evade at all, either have it so you can evade while overloading or give it a 2 sec evade at the beginning and and 2 sec protection at the end, protection while overloading just isnt enough with all the cc and condis going on right now

4.)Dust storm should really just be a smoke field if you ask me, this skill otherwise is totatlly useless and if this is a smoke field then it’ll actually make warhorn usable for once.

5.) Flash freeze should have some cc in it, maybe a 0.5 sec daze? Also increase chill to 5 seconds.

6.)And rebound really needs a buff, to the point where it should just be reworked again. Just have it make it like old rebound but instead make your next 2 utilities instantly recharge, and still grant an aura based on your attunement. This should make it worth being an elite but not being too op.

7.) Time it takes to overload should be reduced to 3 sec and reduce the cd to 15 secs, 20 seconds is really really long to wait before you get into important eles like earth or water.

Tempest still has alot of work to be done, but if it got these buffs it would definetly be more fun to play instead of it only being slightly better than berserker/daredevil as of now.

I returned to my guardian just for DH. Barely played 2 rounds in HJ with it just to get a feel of it. Then I hopped into unranked. It was ridiculously easy to win with it, but hey, it must be my opponents (although it was a high mmr unranked match) who need to l2p right?

I didn’t even need to be a guardian expert to own with it. Please don’t nerf DH. I love low skill high reward classes. Need to farm more people ‘who needs to l2p’ with my DH for my sadistic enjoyment.

Lol you said you went into unranked and said it was ridiculously easy to win. In unranked? Lol dude you do know that unranked is wear most noobs and casual players at right? Try bringing your dh into a fear 1v1 dueling server, then come back and talk.

… you do know unranked has mmr too right? But sure, I welcome a duel anytime. Ill add you up for duels when im on.

It is also the only playable mode for almost two weeks now.

And also probably worth mentioning that GW2 combat is designed around 5vs5 and the only official competitive side of the game is conquest. Actually probably the first time I have seen someone try and claim balance based on a “fear 1vs1 duelling server”.

I would also like to point out coolguy has no relation to the guild FEAR whatsoever. Just before anyone misunderstands.

Why not? I was pointing out how DH was so rewarding while being easy to play. It’s not OP per se, just disproportionate. I play on NA, but you do realise celestial scrapper is a direct counter to DH?

When did i say i was gonna use celestisl scrapper? And if you want too then ill duel you on reaper

7.)Revealed training should have toughness instead of power..

Revealed training giving power is kinda necessary for a few playstyles, having it give toughness if the source of revealed isn’t you (thus it’s someone else) might be a relevant choice now other classes can cause reliable revealed.

It depends on the build, though itd be best if revealed training had some toughness to it cause thiefs are really squishy right now

Hey all since thieves are in a really bad spot right now and pretty weak weak compared to some other classses, i was thinking if maybe we could all start a buff list in the hopes of getting devolepers to read this. Please add on to the list if u can

1.)Have prepardness be baseline, it just feels too mandatory
2.)Increase dps of backstab, it just feels too low, even ranger lb autoattack does more dps…
3.) have parcenous strike steal 2 boons.
4.)Make infiltator strike (but not return) be instant
5.)Make it so if you miss cloak and dagger you wont lose the 6 initative
6.)Make shadow refuge give protection, as of now there is just so many ways to counter this ability and it feels more high risk low reward
7.)Revealed training should have toughness instead of power..
8.)The traps really need some work done,
9.)Have sig of sgility refil 150 endurance if you take daredevil

Like i said keep on adding to the list, theres def more things that need to be buffed, but i dont have enough time to list em all

Alright so, it seems like jalis really isnt in a good state right now, 3 out of 5 of its abilities have cds and glint beats in every way. Here are just some suggestions to make it more viable

Soothing stone* Increase condis removed to 5 please, rev doesnt really have mich condi cleanse and if this removed 5 condis then that would be great

Inspiring Reinforcement Seriously just remove the cd, its way to weak for a 10 sec cd and rev has plenty of other ways to get stability and make weakness. Or if cd isnt gonna be removed please an immbolize or at least cripple

Forced engagement this ability is fine, no big changes needed

Vengeful hammers This ability is too weak and really useless, increase the dps done or at least healing done

Rite of The great dwarf Please lower the cast time, its way to high and this ability should either, remove 2 condis or grant some resistance, if this is done then the cast time can stay.

Well this is all i have for now, if you guys want to please add more suggestions so roy can hopefully see this and listen to us. Overall jallis was fun to play as, but really felt too weak
