It is not rubbish, it is consistent with every other class and their GTAoEs as well.

If you truly feel that engineer having auto attacking GTAoE while all other classes do not is truly balanced and that it is “rubbish” otherwise is a bit of an elitist attitude. No one like when folks have an illogical expectation that their favorite class gets imbalanced favoritism.

You can make claims on “the short and tall of it all you like”. Everyone loves when posters disregard what Anet has said in their replies to subjects, pretends they never happened and then makes up their own reasons and tries to pass them off to the general public. Just because you are unhappy about their stance on it does not make it less true.

If it was autoattack it would no longer be a GTAoE.
I think tht is the point of most the people who are calling for this change, to make the #1 nade skill a enemy targeted skill with splash effects, this would be the same as all the other auto-attack skills with a splash effect.

I think changing the #1 skill to a single nade that you throw directly at enemies making it more like other range skills would be perfectly viable, since nades our the only full range choice we have. I am sure it would be very helpful to ppl to not have to spam a key constantly while they are running around just to keep up consistant damage.

That being said I myself have set my #1 skill to my side mouse button and my mouse supports macros so I have set it to repeat the skill while I have the button held down.
So I basically have an autoattack I just have to keep my mouse cursor near the target.

You have the option to completely ignore these numerous repeat threads yet you choose to participate in them.

I don’t think a secondary spot will ever be on the horizon. I could see maybe another weapon option or two, maybe.
But I agree that while kits are a very cool and unique feature they seem to come with a lot of oversites. Weapons stats/sigils, on swap sigils and untill recently the auto-attack, not to mention how buggy alot of kits skills are.

If they are not going to make weapon stats carry over to kits I think it would be a good for kits to give something similar to Signets, I know they are magic so don’t fit, but something similar would be nice. Like FT has Cond. passive and EG has Heal.

We do not lose a utility slot. The kit is the utility. Combined with proper traits and you often get several utility abilities in the form of heals, debuffs, misc. conditions, knock backs, blow backs, and a plethora of other benefits. All and all the kits are great. If you guys prefer a “utility” in those slots, stop worrying complaining about the great kit options we have and use the other utility skills.

It truly baffles me that anyone will play a class in which they have a unique skill set option such as the utility kits, then complain about them. If you do not like the kits, it is much more logical to simply not use them, then it is to post and complain about them.

Its either the kit is the utility or the kits our the replacement for secondary weapons. To say that kits somehow fills both those roles truly baffles ME.
I like kits and I use them all the time, but I still feel like they aren’t as refined or as beneficial as they could be. So when people try to come up with ideas I can understand why.

If a person does like the kits then its much more logical for them to just use them and be happy then to disagree and condescend every person that feels differently.

Get a Razer Nostromo.
Get comfortable using the D-Pad.
Now you can move with your thumb and spam skills with your fingers.
Its obvious that Anet wanted everyone who plays engineer to get a Nostromo.
That is why i was so glad i already had one!:)

Flame blast could use ground targeting, to make sure that it won’t pierce the ground and explode somewhere under the map. Also it would make possible detonation in range shorter than 600. As for such changes it could even get increased cooldown (up to 9 seconds), I don’t really care, just make it something better than just fight initiator

Make it ground targetted with the option to detonate early. Basically the same as the Thief SB skill. If you dont detonate than heavier single target damage, if you do detonate lesser AOE damage. Or something.

I agree with the point that we lose a utility slot when we have a kit.
Toolbelt skills are the profession specific ability and every profession has their own version. So to say that the toolbelt skill makes up for it is just nonsense.

I don’t really think the weapon slot for kits idea would really work though since a big benefit to kits is being able to switch them on the fly with only a 1sec CD. This is a huge benefit that kits have.

I would say that they need to make kits act more like turrets when it comes to utility skills. So just like turrets when you switch to your kit the utility slot turns into a new skill rather than into the “drop kit” button. You can just as easily press the weapon swap key to switch out of your kit so there is no reason to have 2 “drop kit” commands.

This way you can equikittent and still have access to 3 utility skills. The new utility skills would of course be specific to each kit and should be more utility focused.

Yeah in PvP I usually use jump shot as more of an opener than a closer. Basically just to suprise someone when they are already engaged in a fight. If the just removed the stomp at the end I think it would work alot better.

The most use I have gotten from it though is getting through jumping puzzles!

I mapped my auto attack skill to my mouse button 5(side button)
My mouse also supports a macro that will spam the button when i hold it down.
So i just hold down my mouse button and toss.
Also you dont have to mouse click to throw the nades you can just press the hotkeys twice. So just hit 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 etc.

My point Boozer, is I have yet to play any game that did not have its share of bugs and glitches. I am just happy that at least this game fixes them from time to time. As oppossed to the days when you just got what you paid for.

I wasn’t making excuses because any statement from me holds as much weight as a statement from you, which is none. I was just commenting on the fact that for an MMO GW2 is actually pretty solid for being out for only a month or so and in that time they have made some fixes and released a not to shabby holiday pack. I think this is pretty nice for a game I dont have to have a subscription to play.

Maybe you should start a company so you can release the very first MMO that works perfectly with no bugs, glitches and flaws. Then maybe Anet would care about what YOU have to say.

Or do you just bash everyone who is happy with what they bought just because you are not. little lonely and miserable are we!

GW2 is basically still a brand new game as far as MMO’s go. Does anyone actually remember what vanilla WoW was like? How long it took for them to fix major class bugs and exploits.

This game is barely out and yes it has alot of bugs and glitches but it is far from unplayable. The flamethrower is probally one of the glitchy’es weapons(kit) in the game with the flame blast getting blocked by just about everything and the constant miss miss miss miss miss, But its not unplayable I still run around in PvE and WvW with my trusty FT and I can make do just fine.

Mmmk. Why are you making excuses for Anet and apparently Blizzard too? As if you actually agree that you should get a broken, buggy product after paying for it…

You presupposing that all MMO’s must follow in Blizzards footsteps from what?.. 7 years ago?.. As if somehow this behavior is OK?..

Its NOT OK. You keep on with that apology tour of yours though if you think thats actually working for you. Maybe if you try hard enough Blizzard or Anet will shower you with cash from above LOL!

Maybe you should stop feeling like an entitled little child who expects everything to be perfect. Are you trying say that you did not get your moneys worth from the game?
That your experience is so broken that you have wasted the one time payment you made to play GW2?

If thats the case then welcome to the club of everyone whos ever bought a game that turned out to suck for them. Just be thankful tht Anet might get around to fixing whatever your grief is and unless you buy gems they are doing it for free.

Your problem is you seem to think that before games had patches they were made perfect without any faults. And if you think that GW2 is crap the way it is now then there will be no patch or fix to make it better for you.

I agree the FT is glitchy as hell. Flame jet has horrible hit detection and Flame Blast get blocked by a blade of grass or the slightest incline in terrain.

But I still use the flamethrower all the time if you can manage to actually get a Flame Blast off at the right distance it can be pretty devastating.

1. The need to make it either explode on contact or explode on each contact just smaller damage.
or
2. Make it a second activate skill like the thief bowskill so you can detonate it in mid air.

But the FT has alot going for it. You can use the smoke bomb at anytime, like even when you are gathering or immobilized OR while you are casting another skill like a Golem in the middle of battle, that is pretty awesome in itself. It has a blowback so paired with the rifle and/or PBR the enemies is constantly at a distance. And the flame wall is an easy way to snag at least 9 stacks of might in a few seconds and all you need is a thumper turret. Not to mention in WvW you can fire through gates knocking back and annoying enemy siegers.

Its buggy and needs a fix but if you take sometime to work around the faults its a pretty sweet tool.

I am all for this idea. I think the hammer and torch are two weapons that could go rather well with the Engineer. They both fit the profession and it would be awesome to have more variety and options.

The only way for Engineers to get more skills would have to be through new weapons.
They can’t give us a new kit without eliminating an existing kit or utility skill. And as far as non-elites go I wouldnt really want to lose any of those skills to have another kit.

They cant just give engineers more skills than everyone else so our only option is new weapons. All of our weapons now are very mid-range focused and the toolkit is the only viable melee option.

So having a nice big hammer to pound down the lag bolts in my turrets and smash a few heads would be awesome.

And not to mention this is a pretty huge holiday event tht they seem to have put alot of time and effort into, adding a good deal of extra content and fun after the game has only been out for a month and some change. Alot of the stuff is gimmicky but its still pretty substantial compared to other holiday releases. Once again a certain other game simply had you run around to vendors to “trick or treat” or the oh so “fun” darkgoon faire.

Just be patient the fixes will come in due time and when they do they will just open up the door for brand new bugs and exploits for everyone to complain about.

It should be limited to 10max because there is no reason why a single Mesmer should have a skill that can affect an unlimited amount of ppl. The entire game is built around 5man parties so saying tht it is working as intended is just a bunch of bull.

You can say just spam AOE on the zerg as they are porting but too bad my AOE can only hit 5 enemies(half of which will prolly be pets) at a time so unless they are gonna switch it so i can hit an unlimited amount of enemies tht is a bunch of bull.

I say the portal should stay there is no reason to remove a skill from the game. But it needs to be reworked. Mesmer portals are a great tactic but if you want to port in a 50 man army then get 5 Mesmers and some organization and your reward of bypassing entire walls and gates will actually be justified.

What do you do to defend against a zerg?

Its easy.

1. See Zerg.
2. Run from Zerg.
3. Exit WvW.
4. On Friday after reset enter WvW and have fun for 2 days.
5. If your team isn’t dominating by Sunday nite…refer back to #1

each server has a cap.
You server pop doesnt effect the other server pops.
So one server could have max capacity and the other 2 could have 10 ppl each.

TLDR: Servers with the largest WvW dedicated players will always win and the other two servers will always quit after 3 days

I just want to thank those few IoJ guys tht let me run around and grab some vistas.
Since I was one of 4 CD ppl in IoJ BL trying to do any kind of fighting was 10x pointless.
I am glad tht you were all so bored that instead of just rolling my face you let me catch up on the ever so important map completion crap they put inside a PvP arena.

And to the IoJ zerg tht killed me when I tried to run into a ET tower because I forgot that we are blue this time and not green, I just have to say you are all bullies and just mean man….just mean.

Seems like Anet should just make WvWvW PvP for the weekend when everyone actually tries and it is fun. Then for the rest of the week everyone can just be friendly to eachother and we can all just run around hand in hand doing jumping puzzles and collecting POI’s.
I mean unless its fun for the “winners” to spend 5 days running around empty maps and camping spawn exits.

With kits you can have just about the most skills in the game.
Without kits you can have just about the least skills in the game.

Without kits you are stuck with no secondary weapon option and with just elixirs your toolbelt and utility skills are support based(unless traited for meh damage)
Mixing elixirs and gadgets will probally net the best results and most fun.
In Pve turrets can be very useful, in PvP they are a boderline gimmick.

Yes you can be a non-kit engineer, its doesnt seem like Anet wanted that option to be too appealing but its still an option I guess.

I’d say it all comes down to how each armour set looks. Go to the mists and check up on all the faction armour and weapon sets and mix-match them with other pieces of armour. I chose the Vigil purely for the medium leggings which suit my endgame look perfectly.
If none of the armour sets look good for you, then go the role-player route or whichever interests you most.
One more thing is that faction armour can have stats that are rather tedious to get outside of the faction (whispers armour with condition damage/precision/toughness for example) so you may want to take that into account.

I don’t think they should take up the secondary slot because being able to switch between up to 3(4) kits is one of the benefits we get for not having a secondary weapon.

Weapon stats need to carry over when you equip kits.
I don’t think we should get sigils on our kits or have them use the one on our weapon.
I do think they need to activate the swap sigils when you switch to weapon from kit, with the same 8(10?)sec as everyone else.
I agree tht kits weaken our utility.

Imo they should have made kits work like turrets as far as the utility skill is concerned. So when you equikittent instead of it turing into the “swap” button it turns into another utility skill that goes along with the kit. We still have the swap weapon keybind and that works fine for switching out of kits. I don’t need two swap buttons.

I agree with you 100% about that tactic of the portal and thats not my problem. Its that there is no limit.

I still see no reason that this skill shouldnt be limited to 5-10 ppl.
If you can portal and unlimited amount of ppl than you should also be able to AOE an unlimited amount of people.

This thread is nonsense. Do people even realize how short the range is on the portals? You’re not taking 50 people from your keep to a supply camp instantly.. you’re moving people from one side to the other if you’re lucky. Good for quick escapes and surprise attacks by coordinated groups, and available to everyone. Hardly overpowered in any sense of the word.

Any one skill that can affect 50+ ppl seems OP to me.

Exactly, what did you think WvW was supposed to be fun or something?
No WvW is supposed to be a very large, very competetive sPvP match. Thats why the winning team gets advantages and why the easiest way to get points is to constantly demolish the weakest team so you can own all there territory.

Just take your stomping and be quiet losing teams, if you dont like then just stop playing WvW so the winners who happen to have the highest population of players can get points without having to fight anyone………………………………………………..wait.

Well I dont think its as hard to pull off as you seem to think it is.

And yes a group of unskilled undergeard players will have a much better advantage if they are insta ported behind the enemy and due to lag get a couple seconds of invisibility.
One Mesmer can add a huge advantage to a unlimited amount of ppl. So even if your group dies after porting you still had a better advantage then if you tried to run out the front door or jump down from the walls to face the enemy head on. Or simple tried to actually manuever around and flank them on foot.

And no skills are supposed to be specific to WvW so the whole risk reward argument doesnt do much for me and is really what ppl are complaining about.
One profession has a single skill that everyone now has to form complete WvW tactics around. Thats why when you take a fort you have to spend 10 minutes searching for a Mesmer hiding in a wall otherwise he can just port in a group to gank the fort back bypassing the walls and defenses.

There is no way that I will convince you to change your mind and vice versa, so I’m not gonna argue about it anymore. I just think that since Anet stated that they wanted to eliminate the “holy trinity” so there arent any “essential” professions that to have one that has such a powerful and useful skill is completely opposite of that.

It doesnt matter how hard or easy the skill is to pull off.

I am entitled to my opinion.
Its bs skill tht should have a player limit.
Otherwise the Mesmer is the MVP of WvW.

Make a siege plan that will allow someone to construct a portal costing the team resources and effort. That I am fine with thats fair and even.

Making the Mesmer the only profession with such a high priority because of one skill. Meh

If Anet states that the portal is working exactly as they intended there will be no more complaints from me.

That portal spell is being used EXACTLY how the people who designed this game intended it to be used. If you can’t find a defensive tactic to counter it, perhaps you’re just not skilled enough to play a game with advanced tactics like this one.

I would rather it be multiple mesmers having to coordinate and time insta flank portals together than A single Mesmer having the ability to teleport an entire army by himself.

Its not fine the way it is it makes a Mesmer the most valueable profession in WvW, without a Mesmer this whole teleport and flank with a group wouldnt even be an option. They possess a completely unique skill that can grant a huge advantage to an unlimited amount of ppl.

But heh im no developer and I have already gotten my moneys worth from the game so its either:

Mesmers are a higher priority profession than any other in WvW and thats how Anet is going to keep it, even though they have said thats what they are trying to eliminate.
or
Its just another skill that people have found a way to abuse and it will get fixed.

So we will see in time, if they add a limit to it then you will know that the ppl complaining are right.
If they leave it as it is then you will know the people who are complaining are wrong…………………….and consequently so is Anet for claiming there would not be a higher priority profession

Mesmer portal IS an exploit.
If it is not than Anet has some problems with what they think balanced is.

Your argument of L2P means nothing to me. I shouldnt have to learn to counter a skill that shouldnt be in the game.

Really? there is a 15 second window for people to use the portal, the entry portal only lasts 60 seconds AND it’s range is limited to radar range. To get alot of people to use it takes time and preparation and all servers can do this.

Personally, I barely use portal on my mesmer. Blink, Feedback and null field usually occupy mine.

Long story short, portal used well is a great tactic that is open to all servers. Stop complaining and start planning on how to use yours effectively. I think people are sensitive about the spell because exploiters use it in conjunction with wall hacks to get groups into keeps. Portal used legitimately is fine how it is.

And what is one skill by another profession tht equals this “tactic”

Keep defending your crutch.

Just think who much would it cost if there was a siege plan that could construct a portal that an unlimited amount of ppl could enter. How much supply would you need to build it?

Flyhacking is also a “tactic” tht can be used by all servers genius

Don’t you know GW2 is absolutly perfect and working just as intended and there isn’t any oversights or unbalances.
Whaaahhhh you already want them to take away the ability to speed hack and fly and steal orbs, which is obviously what Anet wanted all along.
Anet obviously wanted Mesmers to have the only skill that gives a single person such the ability to summon an unlimited amount of people. Why do people think Anet wanted you to have to actually defend a keep with siege equipment and organization when they cleary made it so you can just stand in a group click one button and port right behind an army.
Anet just put in waypoints as a trick to get you to waste effort and money untill everyone figures out that you can just having walking waypoints running around.
Anet even stated that they didnt want all professions to have equal opportunity and effectivness in WvW, they wanted to have one profession have a single skill that is more powerfull then all the others. This was to make up for the fact tht mesmers have butterflies around them all the time.

Quit whining you whiners if you take away the unbalanced ridiculously obused skills in the game then sucky ppl will go back to sucking.

The skill is OP because a Mesmer is a walking waypoint. They can basically summon a 50+ army. There is no way Anet meant for this to work this way because it makes the Mesmer a higher priority profession in WvW. To me this is just an exploit tht ppl want to try and defend because they need an advantage to have fun.

If a single Mesmer gets such a powerful WvW skill then why dont all the other professions have anything that even comes close. Why can my Engineer repair siege equipment and walls or Rangers spot every enemy they see on the minimap. No other professions skills come close to matching how useful this exploit is.

-Simi- Basically the way you want to play is no challenge. Its a challange to hold a siege, protect equipment and take a Fort.
Its not a challenge to just get in and zerg mass teleport behind them.

I hope this gets labeled an exploit and I hope you get banned for doing it.

I agree, since the Mesmer is now an essential WvW profession because of the warp gate. I dont see why just one profession has such a outrageously important tactical skill like being able to port in an entire army in just a few seconds. They are basically a walking moveable waypoint.

I think engineers being able to repair siege is only fair. In fact every profession should have some type of skill contribution tht at least gets close to equalling the Mesmer.

I mean everytime a base is taken you have to spend at least 5min or so searching every nook and cranny so that ONE person doesnt completety ruin your progress.

Should the toolbelt skill from the rifle turret have higher dmg and CD?

Static discharge shoots a lighting bolt out each time u use a toolbelt skill so the low CD means lighting bolts more often. Proj. finisher means if u shoot it through a combo field (fire wall from FT) it will pick up an effect.

Overall its a pretty sweet little skill if used effectivly.

*I dont use it much because u need the rifle turret and since the rifle turret icon looks like some badkitten triple-barrel gattling gun and the turret you actually put down looks like some ancient baseball pitching machine with a big pencil sharpener crank on the back I refuse to use it.

CD always starts out strong, and then people get bored or something and our numbers diminish without ever coming back.

Nah its just once people realize tht the other teams have more people playing more often so its impossible to win they stop playing.

As long as the chest contains nothing but one of those little two-cent party razzers and a note that reads, “Congratulations, your server had more people logged in for more hours of the day and/or abused the largest number of exploits.”

They basically already have this!

I am just happy to see tht WvW is so exciting and action packed tht ppl will camp the jumping puzzle in the corner of the map.
