Why do we have OP classes so long?

in PvP

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

On launch when thieves burst DPS was OP, you got the usual run of people claiming it wasn’t and people saying it was. Eventually, Anet nerfed them and now it’s balanced. It took them 3-4 months to address that. That’s 3-4 months in which balance was spoiling gameplay.

Now we have warriors with the clearly OP healing signet. Everyone knows they are affecting balance. Warrior population is through the roof and many matches are made less enjoyable as a result. But here we go again with Anet’s same old cycle of denial>>>ineffective tweaks>>>eventual fix.

Balance issues are inevitable. The system is complex and when you change one bit, something else is bound to rise up as slightly OP. With that in mind, balance issues should be addressed quickly, so that we don’t have to live with any given issue too long. The longer it goes on, (a) the more lamoids jump on the band wagon of exploiting it and (b) the more aggravating it is for those of us who don’t.

I realise some people are going to post here saying various versions of “Healing signet is fine” but that’s just par for the course whenever there’s a balance issue. It doesn’t change the reality.

Could WvWvW be better (1)?

in WvW

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

I have some ideas about WvW, but before I bother posting them in their detail, I wanted to get an opinion on a simple question:

Is a fair fight the most enjoyable type of battle in WvW?

When I say fair fight here, I mean two things:

1) Evenly matched sides generate more entertaining battles.

2) A fight that is decided by things in the players’ control (class, spec, gear, tactics, coordinating with other players) is more fun than a fight decided by things that are not in player control (population numbers, time zones, game mechanics).

My assumption underlying the question is that both Anet and the player base would prefer fights to be as entertaining as they can be.

My own opinion is this:

A) Teams who are massively outnumbered have few opportunities for truly enjoyable fights. It is frustrating to the point that people stop turning up.

B) Teams who massively outnumber their opponents get some initial fun from easy wins but eventually WvW becomes tedious without challenge and if all opponents melt away it is extremely dull indeed.

C) Fighting players who are much more skillful than you is essentially fair but not that entertaining. I realise this has to some extent been addressed by the tiering system.

D) Losing keeps and towers to people while you are asleep is aggravating and sets a lopsided landscape for the next day’s battle.

E) Losing a battle due to an exploited game mechanic makes people frustrated and can lead to them not turning up (depending on how prevalent the exploit is and how significant its impact).

PLEASE NOTE – in this thread I am not dealing with the issue of whether it is possible to address these issues and create a level field, I am asking if people think that a level field would be more fun.

Cribbage.2056

We had about a dozen people helping us there. We had a solid tactic and spent a lot of time carefully preparing it then hitting as hard and fast as we could.

We were beaten by being outnumbered 3 to 1 (at least) and RoF banner rezzing the lord 7 times (I think).

It was fun, but a fair fight would be way more fun, and it is a shame that decent tactics well executed count for way less than numbers and a warrior elite.

Well done RoF though. That was a nice quick response. BT wouldn’t be able to manage that, particularly since BTWar stabbed us in the back.

The Cycle of Misinformation about Warriors

in PvP

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

OP, you have a point, but consider this. When a class is overpowered, here is what the world looks like:

- Some people exaggerate descriptions of the problem
- Some people deny the problem
- Some people switch to the OP class, making the problem worse
- Some people describe the problem accurately and ask for the nerf. These are the only people worth listening to, but are hard to pick out from the noise

The fact that misinformation exists – while inevitably true – is not the most important point, because that in itself does not spoil the game. Whereas the warrior being OP does spoil the game and should be addressed ASAP.

Discussion : How to deal with the Warrior regen signet ?

in PvP

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

It’s so tedious to see all these nerf threads. Not because they are wrong, but because Anet let these situations go on so long before addressing them.

Warrior healing signet is undermining the entertainment value of tpvp right now in a non-trivial way. Anet should nerf the signet tomorrow. If it has too extreme an effect, put it back up slightly the next day. How hard is that?

Instead they sit on these decisions forever agonising over whether they should make a minor tweak or not and let the players suffer for weeks and months.

Is there any PvP relevance to these bags at all?

The number of achievements I see in my achi panel for Halloween doesn’t add up.

At the moment, I see 4 completed achievements, but my completion bar says I have completed 6.

On top of that, to get “A Sweet Friend” (unlocking the final 3 achievements) I need 13 completed, but I see only 8 available to me.

Can someone explain this to me, please? I realise it is likely that I am just reading my panel incorrectly or have missed something in the patch notes.

Bunker Engie

I agree that we are not as good a bunker as someone with high uptime on stability.

However, we can (a) soak up a load of damage, (b) deal decent damage while doing so compared to many bunkers, and © put out a load of knockback.

It doesn’t make us a bunker, but it makes us something else that is very useful at nodes.

HGH was overpowered.

Well, if I may, you didn’t use the word “engineer.” :oP

Seriously though, pointing at one trait is not that helpful. Are you saying (a) that any Engineer with HGH will be overpowered, (b) that some Engineers with HGH are overpowered, or © that in some objective sense the trait is overpowered but you’ve not considered what that means in the context of an Engineer build as a whole.

Hammer wariors

in Engineer

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

A few tips I have found, particularly with some of the advice you are getting here:

1) As has been said, use a vigor build to help you dodge more often. However, be aware that you will NOT be able to dodge all their CC. A hammer/mace+shield warrior has many CCs including knockback/knockdown/daze/stuns.

2) Use your blinds to reduce pressure on you, allowing your vigor to bring your end up and your stun breaks to get off CD.

3) I suggest having 2 stun breaks, though I know that’s not easy to get into all builds.

4) If (like me) you use a lot of knockback, be aware that they have a huge uptime for their stability. Very difficult to time a BOB, but if you keep an eye on them you could get a shield KB to push them back once in a while. It’s almost more trouble than it is worth really, because it will distract you.

5) If you have bomb/pistol, try to land a confusion bomb on them before hitting your static. You need to blind them anyway, so stacking 8 confusions on them is worth doing while you are at it.

6) Remember they can get 5 secs of unblockable skills, so it’s a waste of time blocking unless they’ve popped that already.

7) If you have EG, use your dart as a filler rather than your pistol. You probably do this anyway, but it’s worth remembering it puts a weakness on them, which can lower the damage they can get onto you.

8) For me, their most problematic move is from the mace, not the hammer. I never see the knockdown/daze coming and it cannot be escaped once it has landed. Here, your only tools are blind, to stop it landing in the first place, or protection traits to mitigate it a bit.

9) Healing can be difficult against these, because interrupting is part of their game. One tactic is to lay down something that will make them try to block, then hit your heal while they are blocking. BOB is one option, but that’s kinda interruptable itself.

Turret Engie

in Engineer

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

Is there a turret engineer build that doesn’t suck in PvE? Engie was my first class when the game launched, I eventually got it to lvl 80, but it was a long and disappointing path, since I was only wanted to be an engie because of turrets… but, turrets just don’t seem viable. They die way too fast, not mobile, bad damage, their utility belt skills aren’t the greatest…

I really don’t want to be forced to use kits just to be decent, that’d be like if warriors needed to take signets if they don’t want to suck, or if thieves need to take tricks to not suck. Also kits cover my weapons and backpacks, they’re super ugly :/

My opinions:

1) No, there is no turret build that does not suck. That goes for both PvP and PvE. However, some builds you can probably fit a turret into usefully.

2) You are not really forced to use kits. But realistically you either need at least one kit or have to go full elixir build. Gadget builds usually need a kit to make them work.

3) If you don’t want to use kits, you are better swapping class than build. It’s kinda like saying you want to play an elementalist but don’t like attunements.

Dishonor BROKE the GAME constructive fix

Cribbage.2056

So what would you like to see?

A “ready” button that appears before the match is created, and if someone doesn’t hit it within some time-window the match is aborted and both teams are returned to the queue? Perhaps the non-responding players kick out of the team, or kicked out of the entire queue?

One way would be to check your heartbeat every so often with a “are you still here” button, but that would be kind of annoying. It also doesn’t address the players who leave because they don’t like the team they are paired with.

We could just ramp up the dishonor system.

I know the team has their own thoughts on this, but I’d really like to see if someone here can come up with something awesome.

I suggest you kick one person out of the team with 5 (last in, first out perhaps) to bring both teams down to 4 each, then play the match. Give the kicked person a chest or a bit of glory and put them back in the queue.

Advantages of this:

1) You stop trying to fix the unfixable “how to make sure everyone always turns up.” People sometimes have RL intrude and that will always happen. Any deterrent strong enough to stop casual dropouts would also be quite painful for people who dropped out reluctantly.

2) 8/9 people get a fair match. That’s 8 happy people.

3) 1/9 people is no worse off, because he’s still in the queue and he has a little freebie to sweeten the deal.

The Truth about QQ - New Patch Edition

in PvP

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

I love the way this jmatb puts “ethics” in quotes like he doesn’t believe they are a real thing.

It’s true that some complaints are not valid. If someone has a broken build or is just plain not good at the game, that’s noone else’s fault.

However, there is such a thing as a legitimate complaint. The truth about “QQ” is that it’s a term invented by people afraid of criticism and more afraid of certain truths.

Truths like …

… if you have to have the strongest build to win, you are clearly not as skilled as someone who wins with a less optimal build. Style points or not, it’s just plain true. You make your own decision about how much advantage you need in a fight in order to win, and judge yourself accordingly.

… some people do just play for fun. When you gloat, emote or link your stream after a fight, some people will not be as impressed as you had hoped. Sad for you, but not something you can change by lecturing them on forums.

… a diverse game is more interesting. People who immediately switch to one of the 3 strongest class-builds every time the meta changes are making the game less interesting for everyone. And they are doing it just so they can get wins that are essentially meaningless.

… a fair fight is the most fun fight, win or lose. People who optimise everything and then roll easymode over all non-optimised opponents are lowering the amount of fun in the game for everyone including themselves, even if they are not wise enough to realise it.

Engie a Button Mash Profession?

in Engineer

Posted by: Cribbage.2056

Cribbage.2056

My own build is bombs/slick shoes/EG. Not traited for bomb heal.

I can see why people say we are button mashers. I don’t agree with them, but I can see why they say it.

I have several tools in my box that require both skill and knowledge to use.

Sup Elix+magnetic shield for heal+retal+clearing circles
Glue bomb + Acid Bomb for root + ground dot
Static Shot + Conc Bomb for confusion stack
Fire Bomb + BOB for aoe might

And there are others, and obviously some mixing and matching on combos. It takes a good feel for cooldowns and timing, to execute them to best effect – so it’s not mashing.

However, I do have (a) less reliance on selecting the right target and (b) some flexibility with the order I use my combos. Some classes have to chain their skills in a the right order at the right time to get a decent effect.

It’s funny people’s perception of Engi though. A thief was moaning at me the other day for not dying, saying all I have to so is “sit in EG” to stay alive, and that engi is a faceroll class. He just didn’t get that we have a lot of skills to use and need to select the right ones for the right situation, constantly swapping kits and estimating cooldowns.

I’m all for content being challenging, but mass encounters necessarily need to be simple. With no real leader (and no method for conferring leadership authority), expecting complex collaboration is unrealistic.

As it stands this encounter is so tedious that I will not be attempting it any further. Interrupting my normal play to go somewhere to be bored and frustrated is not worthwhile.

It’s desirable that content is challenging, but it is essential that it is fun.

Cribbage.2056

I agree that balance issues in this game are relatively close, and I also agree that most classes have some unviable specs (not stupid specs, ones which should work but are just kitten).

Maybe my thinking is coloured by the break I took. I was playing Engineer pretty much from launch. I finally got to a spec I could make work in tPvP, but got a bit bored with the lack of tpvp variety and took a break. When I came back only one thing had changed substantially with the class – they changed Kit Refinement so that it no longer cast Super Elixir – in effect making my EG spec much more vulnerable to condition spec (75% of PvPers in other words).

So during my 8 month break the class went backwards. I couldn’t find a single positive change.

In the mean time, Necros had been fixed. Rangers and Eles were actually given a major overhaul just before I left. Thieves, Mesmers and Guardians were always OK (or OP depending on who you ask). Warriors I don’t know about.

But that leaves me feeling like we are the poor relation.

Every MMO seems to get to this – some classes get no attention from the devs for years and years. It seems like the Engineer is becoming one of those.

We’ve got a huge number of potential builds, but only one or two that are actually viable, particularly for WvW and PvP. Some of our skills are completely redundant (e.g. turrets and turret traits) and require an overhaul to make them into real options.

We’ve got issues that go back months and months, even with acknowlegement from the devs, but have had no attention, just a vague “we want to address this in the future” platitude.

I know every class has issues, but it’s really starting to seem that a combination of being underplayed and being okay-ish in PvE is making the devs look the other way. I would like to see us truly viable in sPvP on a few different specs.

I have no trouble logging in myself. I bought the game via digital download and in any case know my password and display name.

I think Anet have not helped players by making the serial code so important AND putting it on an insert.

Most games, once you have activated your account with a serial code are happy to deal through the email address as security. Let’s face it, the only risk there is of email addresses getting hacked, which happens, but is rare enough that Anet should live with the risk rather than adding a convoluted password reset to mitigate it.

Those games that do come back to you for serial codes have the sense to plasticize them on the box. Anet used inserts instead, which is easier and cheaper for them, but makes it much more likely players will lose them.

Seems like poor judgement by Anet has led to a potential player not having access to the game. Nobody wins.

He has his disks and his account email, but not the serial code or account password. The serial code is not in the box with the disks (was it on an insert, and if so why???).

He cannot log in and he cannot request a password reminder because the bizarre password reminder Anet provides requires your serial code.

I don’t understand the reasoning or benefit behind this. If someone wants a reminder they should be able to get it through their account email address.

Guild Wars 2 Is Not Grind-Heavy

Cribbage.2056

You know in WoW people grind the raids to get better items. GW2 players are often keen to point out that those items have stats that improve the character and therefore in WoW grinding is a must and in GW2 it is player choice.

But if you look at it, in WoW that raid grinding is ALL those players do. They never really see any advantage from those new items. Blizzard put in an update and they are obsolete and they grind for the next ones.

That’s completely different to GW2 right? Not from where I am sitting. In GW2 people are grinding towards legendary weapons, etc. My mate has been doing it for months. All he does is run the same dungeons over and over for cash. You can kid yourself that it is player choice, but to my mind Anet have created the mode of play, and people are playing it. Anet have incentivised the grind with legendary weapons instead of the item treadmill Blizzard use, but it is still very, very clearly a pellet for the rats to nibble on.

Cribbage, you’re coming off very badly in this thread. You have the demeanor of someone who just came here to start an argument.

My original post explains very clearly why I came here. I had no intention of starting an argument, and I can confidently say that if the discussion had remained on the point of whether 1800 is an appropriate price for server transfers, there would be nothing here that resembled any kind of an argument.

I think the main problem is that – for whatever reason – there are a number of users of this forum who reflexively post something aggressive/adversarial when another user mentions leaving the game.

To my mind, leaving the game is just something that happens in MMOs. You don’t play them forever. Similarly, it’s pretty normal not to like some aspects of the way an MMO is run, and it’s a reasonable thing to seek to put that opinion out there to the other players.

It doesn’t need to be a source of drama or conflict.

The reasons for this are two-fold.

One – you seem hell bent on ignoring the obvious, reasonable solution being presented to you out of some skewed sense of currency value that is entirely false.

Two – It makes you sound self-important. Especially because you’re leaving for such a vapid reason.

Where have I ignored the solution presented to me? In every post it has been suggested, I have given my reasons for not being comfortable with it. I rejected it, I didn’t ignore it.

Not agreeing with something is not a crime, and is not the same as ignorance.

Just out of interest, have you given a moment’s thought to my explanation that PvPers make no gold and I don’t like hitting up my friends who do not have a lot? Or have you been ignoring that in favour being belligerent?

…This guy is kidding right? Was the OP meant to be satirical or ironic in some way?

We knew server transfers were going to have a fee since months before launch. But we would be allowed to guest for free. That was a big deal.

Guesting wasn’t ready at launch so they let us have free server transfers while they finished it up. That caused its own problems since people abused them and overflow for WvW and events.

But this entire time…for the last six months, it was no secret that they were working on guesting and free transfers would end. They posted on the forums, they posted on their website, facebook, twitter, there was a message on the login client, and I believe an email went out…all letting people know they had 2-3 weeks left to transfer to the server they wanted permanently because charges were going to go in to effect with the new update.

I just can’t fathom being, genuinely, that clueless about something the dev team and players have been talking about regularly since well before launch.

Lol, sorry could you explain this please? What has some general knowledge six months ago got to do with anything.

2 weeks ago, Anet announced the date of server transfers no longer being free. That’s the only piece of info that would have had bearing on this, and I missed it because while playing other games I didn’t bother looking at GW2 news. Hence I missed the opporunity. Noone’s fault, and I have no complaint about it. Not sure how it makes me clueless though. What should I have done six months ago to stop this happening just because I knew that at some point transfers would be paid?

And how does all this supposed cluelessness have anything to do with whether 1800 gems is too much or not?

It’s 10g! You could make that in no time or in the least get 10 members to chip in 1g apiece and pay them back after your transfer. Seriously! Are you really that upset about this that you can’t see the simple solutions right in front of you?

Heck, I’ll send you 1g just to get you started.

1g is 50 gems mate. That’s 36g for 1800 gems I assume. I don’t know if you get some kinda discount for buying in larger amounts.

Please bare in mind:

Gems buy gold.
Real money buys gems.

That means that gold has a real money value. Hitting my guild mates up for gold is not much different from hitting them up for real money, even though the currency system disguises the fact.

I would tend to disagree. You cannot earn real money by fighting imaginary dragons, but you can earn in game gold that way. Fighting imaginary dragons costs you nothing.

I don’t believe you can draw a parallel between the most expensive way to aquire gems (buying them for cash) and the cheapest method (playing the game for free) and say that gold equals the gem equivalant cost in cash.

If you really feel bad about depriving your friends of some imagined cash-value for their gold, why not offer to pay them?

Sorry I don’t understand. If 1800 gems is too much for me to pay Anet, why would I ask my friends to pay it THEN pay my friends? That doesn’t make sense.

I accept your point about gold though. It is not equivalent of real money. However, I would argue that it does have clear relationship to real money and whether someone got gems by spending money or got gems through mindlessly grinding dungeons for gold, I would not be comfortable taking it from them.

Comes back finds guild left game free transfers ended.

Guesting and end of free transfers announced here: January 16th
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guesting-is-coming/

Now its Anets fault rofl cause you didn’t go to the website, the wiki, reddit.

Riiight

Just ask ask friends for gold convert to gems transfer.

1800 gems is fine they most have jumped to a high pop server. The price depends on server population.

Sorry man, but despite you heaping on the derision, you do appear to have not read (or not understood) how guesting works. It’s not the same as transferring, and will not serve for people who want to participate fully in their guild.

Maybe read his post before replying. He never told you to guest.

Given that the point I could have read the news and known about the server transfer had already been made, what point is he making then?

…. you serious? I mean, the two points he is making is pretty blatant.

1. Stop complaining cause Anet gave out a fair warning.
2. Get help from friends if you need it. The server transfer fee is not that much anyways.

Fair enough, to move on from this point, since you are stuck on it:

1) I concede fully that I could have transferred free with my guild
2) I accept that some people would be fine with asking others to pay the cost for them.

Those two points made, I can now safely re-iterate my opinion that 1800 gems is a massive over-pricing for server transfers (which obviously have relevance way beyond my own situation).

Makes thread about taking a month long break from the game.

Given that the point I could have read the news and known about the server transfer had already been made, what point is he making then?

gold to gems…if you trully have friends then they should help you with some gold, stop trying to act as a victim or trying to make this issue like if its a problem because is not, go and complaint why Dethra still bug sometimes in AC or Invisible army, because this thing ‘’server transfer’’ isnt a problem or issue or nuisance.

When my guild wanted a commander for WvW it took the whole lot of us to contribute to raise the 100g. Gold might be of inconsequential value to some of you, but to people like me who mainly PvP and never step foot inside a dungeon, it’s not as easily come by.

That doesnt even make sense, my core argument cannot be refused, period.

Your core argument being that someone else should pay the transfer fee for me? Yeah, sure, that’s an irrefutable point without a doubt.

It’s a real eye-opener to know that apparently I am the only person in the world who doesn’t think that for anything under £20, you can just hit up your friends and get them to pay. Going to the cinema must be a whole lot cheaper for you than for me!

The OP is filled with drama here.

Friends will miss me, Anet doesn’t care about me, Transfer fee is reason for me to stop playing, Anet will lose me as a customer. Me makes thread about me being uninformed and possibly leaving the game so people can discuss me leaving the game (terribly disguised as a thread about transfer fee)

Lol please re-read. Filled with drama? The whole line of discussion about friends only came about because 2-3 people thought “Noone will miss you” was a worthwhile contribution to the thread. I said nothing about it in my original post.

And as for Anet caring about players, I think you will find Anet would claim they do. Any company that professes not to care about its customers would be surprising.

Guess what, world keeps spinning even without you. Game is changing, and you didnt keep up with news. You didnt log in once a week to check out what your guild is doing, you never looked at forums or announcments…so what do you expect? Should ANet say: “oh sry man we didnt know you are uninformed, here have a free transfer”.
If you are leaving game just do so, dont make pointless drama on forums.

Yes indeed. I believe it is safe to say the world will keep spinning if I don’t play GW2. The world will spin on serenely if noone at all plays it.

No I didn’t log in once a week. I didn’t keep up with news and hence I missed the chance to transfer for free. My bad. However, if there is ever a reason to transfer from this point on to another server, it will still coos 1800 gems, and my point about it being too expensive is still my point.

If they were such good friends, how did you disappear for a month, and not get informed of the server switch?

They are GW2 buddies. I don’t generally give out my contact information to anyone in games unless I have some other RL reason for wanting to be in contact with them. While not in the game, they had no way to contact me.

It’s kinda amusing that you are trying to argue a case for noone missing me in game. Is that really an argument you think is worth pursuing with a complete stranger? You’ve got no idea how many in game friends I have or what my relationship with them is, so any argument you will make will be based on no knowledge at all. I’ll be interested to see if you nevertheless barrel ahead with it.

I do not see why you quoted them as friends then. Some people I game with I still contact with them and I do not contact them in RL. We never said give them your phone numbers or anything, there is so many ways to contact through the internet without your contact information. Just a few ones I use are:

Steam
Skype
Teamspeak
Ventrilo
Guild Website
X-Fire (I don’t use this one but a lot of people still do)

Rather than debate the many and varied meanings of “Friend” with you, and then defend my own approach to friendship against yours, I will draw your attention to context. The guy said “noone will miss you,” whereas quite a few will miss me and already missed me in my month break. If you wanna say “that’s not friendship, that’s just people in an MMO who like to play with you” go right ahead.

Don’t get mad. Was a genuine question. And I have asked a second one to boot.

Not mad mate, genuinely amused.

It’s one of the more comedic sides of the internet when you see people trying to prove such sweeping and general points and “Noone will miss you!” about someone they know nothing about. By all means, if you think there is mileage in this line of discussion, do carry on.

However, I guess I need to say for the benefit of the mods, this thread was intended to spark a discussion of whether 1800 gems is an appropriate price for server transfers, given that it has driven at least one player from the game. The discussion of whether I have any friends is an unexpected side-benefit. Lol.

And a follow up to my earlier question.

If they are your friends and want to play with you, I’m sure it wouldn’t be any trouble to run an AC and CoF for money, then each donates their profit to you for gems. 5 runs would be a good 20g. That’s what? 1k gems?

Heck, if someone from my Guild got stuck on another server, and cared about them at all, my guildies and I would gladly accumulate the money for a transfer.

I’d say there is a bit of a gulf between saying they will miss me and saying they will pine so badly they decide to organise charity events to keep me in the game. Lol, in 10 years of MMOs I’ve never once seen any group of players do such a thing for anyone.

…. 1800 gems is barely anything for a server transfer. It’s not like you are server hopping, it’s a one time thing. Surprised you are even complaining cause that is like the least of anyone’s worries.

Also, I don’t see implementing a cost in server transfers as a revenue scheme. This is just there to prevent people from server hopping which is good imo.

Hardly anything? It’s about £15-20 which is about half the cost of an entire game or two months subs of a paid MMO.

I know server transfers were always intended to be paid service, and actually support that. But £15 is an order of magnitude over priced.

Interesting response since you do not know me. I would guess my friends will miss me, some already said they would, and Anet is going to miss a paying customer, since I have bought plenty of gems in the past for things I considered worthwhile.

Out of interest, is your antagonistic reply due to you being a supporter of the new server transfer costs, or did you just make it out of random petty spite because you are able to do so anonymously on the internet?

http://howsecureismypassword.net/

let’s find out…
it would take 6 billion years for my GW2 account, 377 billion years for my e-mail and 345 quintillion years for my steam account for the brute force method of an average PC to hack me.
septillions can be easely achieved when adding symbols.

i should be safe for a while (yeah i know, that site’s isn’t that accurate about that)
btw…i didn’t got forced or suggested to change my password yet.

i assume, that a-net’s blacklist is created mostly by all the failed log-in attempts using popular phrases and names.

Yes, and by forcing you to change your password, Anet have just added a small risk of it being hacked during the change. Isn’t it great when people who don’t understand security get to mandate it to those of us who do?

I took a break a month ago due to being bored of the same old, same old tPvP maps and team comps. I thought I would come back today and see if I could regain some interest.

While I was away, my guild transferred to a new server. And now apparently it will cost me 1800 gems to follow them. That’s an extortionate price for something that used to be free. It can’t possibly reflect the effort required by Anet to perform the transfer.

So now I will leave because (a) I cannot play with my friends and (b) Anet have just shown themselves to be either a lot more desperate for revenue or a lot less caring of their players than I thought.

Can you have my stuff? Yes you can. Enjoy your 2 silver pieces and ball of fluff.
