So basically you want to remove the core mechanic that drives the playstyle of the class and instead replace it with a copy of Druid’s Celestial Avatar?
Also shroud can be balanced, we just need some aspects of LF generation to be shifted towards scaling LF gain rather than static LF gain.
YouTube
And where is is stated that Reaper is supposed to be a power spec? Or is it just that you want it to be a power spec?
Reaper has exactly 1 condi damage trait in the entire traitline. In addition all of Reaper’s Shroud’s skills and all of GS’s skills have really high power coefficients. None of the shouts are condi either.
Moreover at a synergy level reaper synergizes better with power builds than condi. (see the interaction between Blighter’s Boon and the spite traitline.)
YouTube
- all arguments are based on literally 1 elite specialisation which in its curent forum can overcap crit in a raid enviroment(which might change in the future).
Necro isn’t the only class that has used precisionless ferocity stats. See Valkyrie Staff thief with Daredevil runes.
Also 1 class using it is sufficient motivation for that stat set’s existence. If a stat set is useful without being game breaking then it has reason to exist.
Classes should not be hampered by not having a optimal stat prefix available, at least not in PvE. (PvP is another story.)
YouTube
It’s been proved several times that optimal damage comes from maxing precision no matter what bonuses come from other players. In the hypothetical-perfect-scenario where a Necro runs alongside a Warrior and a Ranger there’s no way to upkeep Fury 100% of the time and Banner of Discipline has a cooldown interval, also target the weak has a 13% crit chance cap.
What you’re saying equals to say that Elementalist meta should run Valkyrie instead of Berserker because he can obtain 100ish% crit chance from other sources and that is absolute nonsense. For my part I think that this stat has no place in the game, talking PvE wise.
Please note that curses does have some fury access to augment the support’s.
I’m also going to point out that condi necro will crit cap without any external boons or buffs. Viper’s will net 34% from precision. (37% if you have the sinister tricket setup) once you add Target the Weak and Decimate Defenses then the necro is capped right there.
Now I totally agree with having extra crit in the case of boon and/or buff breakdown, but overstating by 30% is absurd. There is no raid condition outside of a total wipe where you will lose all buffs.
The only value of all that precision of the 13% conversion on Target the Weak, however the total benefit of that isn’t something to write home about.
YouTube
But starting wherever there is a clear patch and moving in isn’t as practical as you think. You’d have to run back to that clear spot every time you RS4 or gravedigger. The time loss from such a technique means that you could never do the double gravedigger sub 50% because you’d lose too much time and the field would dissipate.
The other technique mentioned – retargeting when casting Executioner’s for better field control – costs you the damage of executioner’s which sub 50% and especially sub 25% is not something to overlook.
Of course all of those techniques are pointless if some ele air overloads on the boss, and of course space constraining boss mechanics also eliminate those techniques.
The fact of the matter is that field control is basically a extra raid mechanic in terms of complexity. Necromancer when going from golem to raid boss loses more DPS than any other class, and our golem dps was mediocre to begin with.
Meanwhile rangers do more DPS while playing one-handed and munching chips with the other.
The Necromancer class be it raids or sPvP requires 2x the effort for 1/2 the rewards.

Actually Necro can compete as DPS, there is a benchmark out there of a necro doing 32k+ dps with realistic buffs. Granted most people won’t get those numbers, but it most definitely has better than just slightly better than mesmer dps.
The problem is that the benchmark was done with the Necro chill field whirling inside the bosses hitbox. In a actual raid the necro will not have field priority because of all the fields getting dropped on the boss, so all of that dps that comes from the chilling bolts will not be there.
If Anet would change combo fields to prioritize the owner’s fields rather than the oldest field, Condi Necro would be instantly viable.

Thats right there is one of the currently possible meta chooses for a necro in raids.
I do think a good conditioner necro is still very much usable in raids yeah. “Signet of Vampirism” skill, for example, is a sweet healing skills that every people in the party can heal from.
For pvp I honestly have no clue mister.
You don’t use vamp siggy, you use the healy minion.
Also qtfy’s build page is messed up. The written description is for the old Viper horror build, but the benchmark numbers and the video are for the condi GS necro.
YouTube
A four stat with power and condition damage as majors, with expertise and ferocity as minors would be amazing for GS condi necro.
YouTube
That is, at best, a “semantics” argument, and at worse, “rules lawyering”. You and I both know exactly what MarkoNS meant when they said that, and pretending otherwise is a cheap shot.
It’s not sematics at all though. Add-ons are direct modifications of the game and it’s functioning. GW2’s meters are just third party programs that provide a overlay.
YouTube
Am I missing something or is this still overall a big boost to condi builds and a nerf to power builds?
It’s a nerf to both. Condi in PvP is about application not duration, and the changes removed all but one condi applying sigil. The only builds that ever really cared about duration sigils are burn builds, but burn duration sigil already exists.
For example it won’t be possible for skullgrinder to apply 6 unique condis on a single hit anymore with the current sigil proposal.
The only condi class that might benefit from the change is mesmers, but we will have to see.
YouTube
This was the fourth placement match on an alt account. Because of the soft mmr reset, plus you lost 2 of your first 3 placement matches, the people you will get will likely be dramatically below your level since your account has super high volatility, and a poor starting record.
So basically fake news to get more twitch views.
YouTube
It’s a broken noskill trait.
9 unavoidable bleeds for 10 seconds on weapon swap. 20 other bleeds in 2 seconds, covered by at least 5 cover conditions without the need of any skill. Just mash buttons.
I main necro and I have zero respect for anyone who plays this. Just go to your condi mes and condi thief friends who also suck at the game and need some crutch.
Spamwich is back.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0JWZ8t08TY
I’m sorry what?
Oh wait nevermind your talking about WvW.
Try playing the rest of the game where condi necromancer handicaps any group it joins.
The only reason necro is a problem in WvW is because everything is a problem in WvW, because WvW is on the PvE gear system. If was using the sPvP amulet system none of these problems would exist.

I would never queue for pvp without duo.
1) dealing with pug RNG is asinine.
2) the social experience makes pvp more enjoyable. Solo just feels like a grind.ranked is for personal rank, any form of “team” q in ranked mask truly personal rank behind the “team”
Ranked is not personal You’re projecting.
Ranked is competitive. Pugging is not competitive. Ranked ought to be 5 mans only, but that’s never going to happen.

Thieves combat ability is not broken.
However in conquest at higher levels of play they are essentially mandatory. If the other team has a skilled thief and your team doesn’t have a thief, you lose by default, since thieves can:
1) Deny beasts
2) intercept any lord attempts
3) solo hold temple buffs.
4) decap anything that isn’t actively bunkered.
5) get all the +1s.
The only way to stop a thief from doing all of that is to have your own thief to run them down. Which is why we are back to the old pre-hot meta of “all comps must include a thief”

If people find the mini offensive, I hope they never go fishing. In Fishing, caught fish are generally left to suffocate rather than damaging the fish’s meat by killing it. (except in commercial fishing where fish are dumped into a water filled tank until they reach the processing plant)

A “true” balance patch will exist only,
No it won’t, because its fundamentally impossible to balance a game.
Why?
Because human beings as a species are not capable of considering two different things as equal. We spend our entire lives declaring X better than Y, declaring that doing this is better than doing that, declaring that A is a better lifestyle than B, declaring that some class is better than other class in a rpg. We are a species that exists to chase the optimal regardless of whether that optimal is real or invented.

How about sigils actually proc’ing a finisher? Like swapping weapons creates a blast finisher.

I feel like the biggest problem with raids is that they are called “raids,” and thus invoke all the WoW stigma.
If they had just chosen to call them 10-man dungeons or somesuch the wider gw2 community would probably applaud them.
YouTube
Well I guess I won’t be reaching out of gold 3 then.
I was playing up at the top of Gold 3 (before a loss streak put down in gold 2) and was getting between 10 and 15 for a win and -10 to -15 for a loss. However I was also playing gold 3 and plat players.
It all depends on who you are playing against.
YouTube
I agree. I’d be completely willing to wait for better matches. ANET has the wrong idea prioritizing speed.
To a degree, but nobody wants 15+ min queues, and high level players could easily get stuck with much longer queues than that.
YouTube
BTW, the rating is not the MMR.
Your leaderboard rating is your glicko2 rating, the exact same glicko2 rating that is used by the matchmaker.

Celestial WAS good for wvw/pvp scenarios for certain builds/classes. After HoT everything became pretty much a powercreep so celestial is no longer a thing. It has a bit of everything but your stats will be too low to be actually effective. So basically a lackluster
Celestial is still good for WvW (it’s like drugs for eles), just not for Mesmer.
Celestial was actually removed from sPvP due to it being stupidly overpowered, so lackluster is a misleading term to be using.
YouTube
Thieves are screwed by this because they have to stay on their melee set if they want to down somebody so they can’t take on-swap sigils on their melee set.
Every change Anet has ever made as resulted in Thieves claiming they are getting screwed by it.
Also the change only limits SB thieves.
YouTube
Isnt supossed that deathly chill applied 3 stacks of bleeding only in pve mode?
It also applies to WvW (but not sPvP)
YouTube
You are very welcome to write an algo that could detect difference between pulling the plug, turning off modem or player DC’ing. You might actually make some good money if you manage to write a reliable algorithm for it.
While you’re at it OP, can you write a algorithm that can check if a program halts? It’s a roughly same difficulty of problem.
YouTube
Well gold vs legends does happen more frequent than it should. You wait longer than 5 min, such match is basically guaranteed.
We actually have legend players now? Last I check nobody had reached 1950 yet.
YouTube
They should just gives us glyphs in the next elite specs that flip over like Druid and Elel glyphs do.

the signet of might GS/Mace Shield power war directly counters nearly every meta DH build.
Or the guard just dodge+kites when the signet comes out, and then wins.

Sounds like you are getting matches where the enemy team has a crappy comp compared to yours, and so players on the enemy team swap classes and deny you your easy win and that upsets you?

To think of this another way, if what you say WASN’T true, software piracy wouldn’t be a crime. Load up a program, make a copy because it is on my hard drive or in my ram, and then give anyone a copy of ‘my’ copy.
I don’t think you understand what piracy is.
Software Piracy is the duplication of software that you do not have distribution rights to.
Software copyright law is just that, COPYright law. Not viewing law. It is illegal for you to distribute copies of the GW2 client because you do not hold the copyright. You can however read it’s memory.
Also illegal duplication only counts as duplication if the copy is removed from the machine.
YouTube
And once it is on my computer the data is mine, right? At that point I could not be prosecuted because the data belongs to me…because anything on my hard drive belongs to me.
Is the GW2 client private data that you nefariously stole from their office, or is the GW2 client a product that Anet has given you as a part of their service?
Is the chair you are sitting on yours, or does it still belong to the furniture store that you purchased it from?
Look, we can run in rhetoric circles all day, but at the end of the day there is no reasonable interpretation of the law where reading from your own RAM is illegal. That’s not it works, and making the law work that way would be a SOPA level of stupid.
YouTube
Aren’t game files stored in my RAM during my play sessions? Does that mean that I own GW2?
You own your copy of the game client. You don’t own the franchise.
Does data become one’s property merely by existing on one’s hard drive? If such is the case then one could not be prosecuted for data theft so long as one stored the supposedly stolen data on one’s hard drive…after all one cannot have stolen it if it belongs to oneself right?
Data theft is stealing someone else’s private data. As in removing data from a network/machine that isn’t yours.
Anet gave you the client as part of the service. That client is yours, just like any item purchased from a store is yours.
The chair that you are presumably sitting on is yours, you bought it from a store and it is your property now. However you do not own the patient for that chair. Software is the same way, you own the copy of the program that is on your PC, you just don’t own the IP and patients.
Moreover if we are going to interpret reading RAM as data theft, then every single C/C++ programmer that ever had a runaway pointer is a criminal.
YouTube
I suppose that would depend on who owns the numbers that the dps meters read. My best guess would be that Anet owns the numbers, therefore, it would be their information to release or not.
Anet actually does not own the numbers. The meters are reading the RAM of the computer they are running on. The data on a computer’s RAM is considered the property of the person that owns the computer.
Legally DPS meters are just reading the end user’s own property and thus are not in any way a privacy concern.

Alright maybe 1 a day net… so 7 a week? not unreasonable if you want to be on leaderboard. And yo ucan make up a weeks worth in 3hrs on a weekend? I’m willing to wiggle on the numerical factor, but 15 for the season is not sufficient to be on a leaderboard.
The requirement goes up by 15 per week.
If people are waiting for end of season they are going to be in for a rude surprise

Really though if Necros need more synergy with their reaper traits then it needs to happen to actual necro/reaper skills/traits. While sigil of ice synergizes really well, if the problem with removing it is because Necro itself isn’t left with enough internal synergy around those traits then its necro that needs to be changed.
The problem is a deep one that can be summarized with the statement “The Reaper traitline was only designed with power in mind”
Power reaper will survive the sigil changes, mostPnecs don’t even use Ice anyways. Blighter’s Boon’s synergy with Spite means that reduced Chilling Victory access isn’t critical.
Condi Necro however is in trouble. Cnec depends on chill access for DPS, and more importantly Cnec does not have Blighter’s which means Cnec leans heavily on Chilling Victory to augment it’s LF gain. Also reduced Chill access means less kiting capability.
There just isn’t the chill access to make it work. The only solution would be to make Core Condi necro viable (the elimination of reaper dependency eliminates the chill problem) but doing that would require redefining Core Shroud which is highly unlikely. Our best hope is that the next Expansion brings a condi elite spec that has the same level of synergy with condi builds that reaper does with power builds.
Of course less chill access doesn’t affect Cnec’s corruption capabilities, so Ele+nec duos will still be a thing, but Cnec is going to be pushed even harder into the “completely dependent on teamsupport for basic functionality” gameplay.
YouTube
(edited by Crinn.7864)
Please don’t remove Sigil of Ice. It’s necessary for necros because otherwise the only way to take advantage of Chilling Victory and Chillin Nova is with staff and staff only.

It’s so true, when you look at what the warrior has compared to the hoops Guardian has to jump through to survive, it is pretty funny.
Watching warriors and guardians argue over who is tankier is like watching two rich people argue over who has the more expensive Lamborghini collection.

sub 200 is a bad game, anything higher is just a rotation/fights problem.
Also the purpose of placement is to figure out where you belong. You can’t exactly do that without throwing some hardballs.

I honestly felt most of my matches where pretty competitive.
Thread sounds like bronze problems.

. Burn guard simply isn’t that viable in spvp largely because you can’t get to +100% burn duration since food isn’t available.
Either Deadshot amulet or wanderer’s amulet plus Balth runes will get you 100% burn duration.

My thoughts: …. It’s not dead. You are being overly dramatic. Why are you so salty?
Season 5: Needed to be upper platinum to be in the top 250 EU
Season 6: Need to be upper gold to be in the top 250 EUThat’s without mentioning the lack of well known PvPers on the leaderboard at all, we have maybe 5 or 6 and that’s it.
A week into the season you only needed gold last season too.
Ratings inflate during the season, gold division won’t be 250 by end of season.
YouTube
If they’re gonna determine my “skill” based on only 10 games, then I don’t like the idea that a 4v5 loss is treated as any other loss..
You don’t lose rating for losing a 4v5 in the case of a disconnect.
Unless you are the person disconnecting or grouped with the person disconnecting you don’t lose rating for a prolonged DC.
