How did Anet make it “worse.” Literally the only two changes between last season and this one is the removal of decay/volatility exploit, and the removal of placement sniping.
Are you saying that PvP was better off with those exploits?
The real reason that s6 is lower pop is because the hype wore off. Kinda like how S1 was probably the highest participation season despite being a clown show with all the exploits and that whole bunker fiesta. Hype/newness is everything.

automated tournaments would work much better than team queue.
There will never be enough full 5s teams for a 24/7 team queue, and having one would just promote off hour win trading.
However with automated tournaments that have set calendar dates, 5s teams will have a place where they can get good fights with a chance for prestige and rewards, without the matchmaker crap.

Yes, I’m sure that the 1 class that uses condi on it’s meta build definitely warrants a across the board nerf to the entire mechanic.
YouTube
Either the next expansion is over a year out, they’re no longer going through with their 1 box model, or maybe the pricing rumor was true.
I honestly expect them to drop the 1-box model, because it makes no sense with how the game is designed.
One of the unique benefits of GW2 using horizontal progression is that expansions do not necessarily require previous expansions. Since expacs don’t raise level caps a player doesn’t need all prior expacs to play the most recent.
I’m expecting HoT to remain a package, with expac2 being a separate package, and of course the core game remains f2p just like currently.

give the trait an ICD
I’d love to know which forum you came from. What class do you main, friend?
I main power mesmer
Oh, perfect, so now I understand you’re coming cross-forum to complain because you main a class/build that is countered harder by condi than probably any other individual build in the game, being rivaled only by Engineer.
Perspective can be a kitten.
Power Mesmer should hardcounter a necro easily just from the ease of range dictation combined with necromancer’s inability to deal with large amounts of spike damage.
The thing is that he is coming from WvW where the trait uses the PvE version, and necros can use dire gear to fix their sustain problems.
In sPvP where there isn’t PvE bullcrap, a power Mesmer can easily murder a necromancer with minimal effort.
ITT: typical WvW problems that wouldn’t be problems if WvW uses sPvP restrictions, but that community refuses to see that and instead demands to have classes completely gutted just to band aid fix their broken game mode.

400 people is really small for a mmorpg
YouTube
does anyone know if there is a limit to the amount of damage sources? if so whats the number? seems like that would be a good place to balance the game mode. hot brought so much more damage, and servers have gotten much more polarized. if there is no cap, perhaps putting one at 30 people could help smaller groups (and possibly lag by a huge margin). I’m pretty sure it would only benefit the smaller group. thoughts?
That won’t do what you think it will.
First off damage caps would increase server load, because every time someone is hit with a attack the server would have to check to see if they are capped.
Secondly it won’t help smaller groups at all. The reason small mans can’t take on Omni blobs is because this game is built around active defenses, and you can’t dodge stuff from 20 different people, especially when your client doesn’t even render half the skills.
Moreover it would make blob v blob fights take forever because how much more effective group healing would be with a damage cap.
YouTube
Note to self: I really got to stop writing Essays on the Forums…. Very few people even read them.
There isn’t much that can really be discussed on the topic. Discussing whether condi reaper should be toned down when we get a condi elite, is kinda dependant on us having a condi elite in the first place. We don’t even know if the next elite will be condi, since that assumption is hinged entirely on the torch leak, which didn’t actually specify that it was condi.

automated tournaments would be awesome
YouTube
Ah so instead of 30k DPS we get 50k DPS eles. I like it.
Because every one just play raids in gw2 right?
Why do i get the feeling that 5% of the population of gw2 plays raids so much and max min it that they do not realize they play a game type that nearly no one plays.
Get out of your bubble of max / min stander mmorpg mind set gw2 is a LOT more then raids and more then like raids is the smallest part of gw2 and will be for its life span.
Raids are hardly the only mode where DPS is relevant. Moreover anything that overperforms in raids will overperform in other PvE content.
The proposed suggestion would be a insane buff to ele in every mode.

I thought I was going crazy when I was getting PBS’ed while death charging.
I curious if this is specific to PBS or if all projectiles still affect the necro.

The game NEEDS automated tourneys
+1
My gripe with solo/duo is that there is no skill progression.
In a 5s team when you lose you can look back at your team’s mistakes and make corrections. In pugs you often lose match after match for the same reasons because flipping pugs.
The last time I queued I lost 3 matches in a row, all because of team’s inability to adjust to enemy thief. If it where a 5s team we could have made adjustments so that that streak wouldn’t have happened.

typical reaper alim drivel
Do you actually read the thread before you post? Or do you jump right on the Anet hate without bothering to read context on the post you are quoting.
My post was referencing that Imbda and others seem to want to push for bringing back the ESL teams, rather than giving a opportunity for players that aren’t Ex-ESL to have something to compete in. The “new blood” was referring to players that want to get in on 5s but can’t compete at full ESL level.
The entire reason that ESL was so stagnated was because there was no midpoint between the pug queues and the ESL tourneys, which resulted in a disparity that prevented any new teams from rising to ESL.
YouTube
Well of Corruption is amazing in sPvP for cleaving out rezzes.
YouTube
Then perhaps it’s time for new blood.
If people need monetary compensation in order to play this game, then it’s better for both us and them for them to move on.
The biggest complain I saw against ESL was that it was always the same people on the same rosters year after year. Having new faces and new teams would probably do the game some good.
YouTube
I wonder if you apply the same logic to Spiteful Spirit?
Literally every class has instant-cast skills which are basically un-dodgeable (other than the “i reckon he’s gonna use that soon” dodge).
Last time I checked spiteful spirit doesn’t 1-bang you from 40% hp. Also in-combat instants can be anticipated. Alphas coming from players that are on the far side of a mountain can’t.
YouTube
Situational awareness and knowing who’s where is a good thing to have in the back of your mind in team fights if the thief is that big of a problem to you.
Knowing where a thief is likely going to rotate to is easy.
But countering that thief requires knowing the exact moment that thief is going come in on you. And when “coming in” is teleporting through a wall for a instant mug+heartseeker+pulminary alpha you’re basically screwed.
I can totally be at mid on my necro and know “hey that thief just left home and will probably rotate in on me.” But all that means is that I know that my doom in coming, since without a telegraph to give me the precise timing I have no way to counter that impending alpha.
YouTube
2016 called and wants it’s meme back.
YouTube
Can we not have real money on the table? The community driven tournament should be for the community. Putting money on the table just seems like it’s trying to bring back ESL, but without the actual support of ESL.
Just put some legendaries in the prize pool. Or maybe Anet will be nice and gift lege armor when that comes out.
YouTube
It’s true that these systems are not designed to have these placement games. Real rating systems start everyone at exactly the same rating and they play, with the same volatility calculation.
You do realize that the “placement” games are just UI and have no bearing on the algorithm itself.
“placement” games only exist so that players aren’t freaking out at the high rating changes that occur when a player is at extreme volatility. (all players start at high volatility)
YouTube
No,they shouldn’t. This is where the awareness aspect of pvp comes in. If you know where your enemies are you can react accordingly. If the enemy guard for example has been predictable the whole match and opened with Judges on say for example Khylo mid point then you should expect that and be ready shrugs
Please tell me how to counter someone teleporting through a wall at me.
Seriously a thief on Niflhel can do a heartseeker+steal combo from arch to midpoint, which means the target is getting hit with a instant double attack through the floor with no telegraph, and no way to see the thief.
I’m fine with the instant teleports. I’m not fine with instant BVR attacks.
YouTube
Rating is derived from who you win against, not your raw win/loss. Winning against higher rating opponents will get you more rating than winning against lower rated opponents.
It’s actually possible to advance your rating with a negative win/loss, but that is uncommon.
YouTube
You shouldn’t limit to who can play with who in my opinion. It’s been like 8 months since the last event and almost a year since the last pro league. No team will have more than a few “pro” players on it as is because of the state of the game. Letting people pick who they think is reliable to get on to scrim and grow as a team is important. The feeling of competitiveness is greatly reduced if you’re force fed players and log on once a week for a fiesta.
there are still enough ESL players left to create a full team, and there is a risk of having this community-driven tournament killed at birth by a Ex-ESL Dream Team.
I think it would be a good rule while this tournament is young. Maybe at a later point when we have enough teams established, the rule can be revisited.
YouTube
Your analogy is not at all relevant. S1 chronobunker was intentionally designed to be that bunkery. Reaper was not designed to be allowed to stack that many bleed stacks that quickly. You can argue semantics all you want, but that won’t change the fact that Reaper just was not designed to output so many bleed stacks so quickly. If it were, it wouldn’t need an environmental weapon to do so. So yes, it was an exploit. No, that does not mean people need to be banned over it. Not all exploits are worth banning people, which is something that a lot of people can’t seem to wrap their minds around.
I highly doubt that ArenaNet intended for S1 chronobunker to be able to hold a point 1v3 indefinitely. We literally had sPvP matches where nobody died the entire match because of how absurd chronobunker was.
Chronobunker was so absurdly overpowered that in order to fix it the devs had to:
-change precog from evade to distort and later nerfed again to aegis.
-nerf alacrity from 66% to 33%
-make quickness not effect rezzing or stomps.
-some miscelleaous trait nerfs.
Chronobunker was also the catalyst that resulted in the “teams must have 5 unique professions” rule being added to tournaments.
YouTube
Funny thing is that the game actually was performing better back then, even with the better graphics. It just sucks that everything for this class got worse.
It wasn’t changed because of performance, it was changed (along with a slew of other abilities.) to reduce the visual noise of the game.
YouTube
Your favorite warrior (not berserker)
Sir CrysisCrap… what warrior build are you playing to get that high? I run a LB condi build and the best I’ve done is about 600K.
I’m guessing he is playing the beat-face-on-other-warrior-while-ignoring-the-supports build.
YouTube
The synergy itself is the exploit. It’s an exploit because the result of the synergy is unintended and it was an oversight by the developers.
The use of the term exploit by ArenaNet and other game companies has (up until now) exclusively referred to the exploitation of bugs. Use of overpowered builds have never been termed as a exploit. They didn’t call S1 Chronobunker a exploit despite the fact that that build literally broke sPvP.
And this distinction is important because otherwise you get that guy over in the necro forum that is trying to insinuate that necromancers should have their accounts actioned for using it.
YouTube
Technically, the only thing that it change is that you would have to wear a power armor instead of a condi armor and condi build would again be forced to use scepter and the scepter trait.
Condi GS necro already uses scepter and the scepter trait. It’s scepter/dagger + greatsword and you’re weapon swapping on cooldown.
Changing finisher to prioritize your own have only a little impact on reaper since outside of our only frost field we got 0 benefit from our others fields (or at least not more than from any other field in game).
And that 1 ice field is 4k dps because RS4 whirl and Gravedigger whirl. The inability to consistently perform those finishers in a raid setting is the biggest hurtle towards making reaper competitive in a raid.
YouTube
Toughness is fine. 33% damage reduction is more valuable than 75% increase in base health.
Why? Because this thing called healing exists. The less damage you take, the less healing you need to stay alive. With vitality however you are still taking the full value of incoming damage which means you have to receiving healing on a 1:1 ratio to incoming damage, which is impossible because damage in this game way out scales healing.
Vitality is only really good against spikes, it’s terrible in any form of protracted fight.
YouTube
almost 1 million damage and only 9 people died. What a shame
The more your enemies die the less damage you deal.
You can’t DPS things that are waiting on respawn.
YouTube
I don’t define that, Anet does. If Anet thinks it’s an exploit, they will fix that too. What my opinion is here matters little. Again, it’s the RESULT that concerns Anet … does Ice Bow with Deathly chill give the same result as Frost Gun with Deathly Chill? Not even close. You’re thinking about this incorrectly.
Frost Gun was overpowered. Overpowered is not the same as a exploit.
YouTube
It’s not a vote between players … Anet defines that.
We aren’t saying that ArenaNet can’t call it a exploit.
We are saying that ArenaNet’s choice of calling it a exploit is moronic since it implies that using trait synergies is a exploit. They are literally implying that Necros trying to maximize Deathly Chill is a exploit.
No, that’s what YOU say Anet is implying. I didn’t get that implication at all, probably because I understand the result of the synergy here. If you can’t see why this is an exploit … well, that only tells me you have much to learn about the game.
Ice Bow is a major DPS increase for condi necros using Deathly Chill. Is using Ice Bow a exploit?
This bundle is required to do a heart mission. That bundle’s autoattack applies roughly the same amount of chill as Frost Gun’s Autoattack. Is doing that heart mission on a DC necro a exploit?
Greatsword is used by condi necro due to whirl finishers procing Deathly Chill. Greatsword was never intended to be used as a condi weapon. Is condi GS necro a exploit?
If you couldn’t understand that procing 100+ bleed stacks consistently wasn’t some unintended result from this synergy, then I can only accuse you of not being honest with yourself.
Condi GS necro can already break the 100 bleed threshold, explicitly because of Deathly Chill.
Dishonest would be believing that Frost Gun was balanced. But overpowered is not the same as a exploit.

That’s not just a GW2 thing … it’s every MMO I’ve ever played; it’s the minimum expected behaviour between an organization that runs the game and the people that play it. I mean, since when did “Don’t cheat” have to become a rule that people would be offended if they got caught?
In GW2 and every other MMO I’ve ever played, the use of the term “exploit” exclusively refers to the exploitation of bugs.
Frost Gun was not bugged and neither was Deathly Chill. So how where we to know it was a exploit? There is no precedent in any game for declaring trait synergies a exploit.
YouTube
What it’s called is irrelevant; clearly, Frost Gun and it’s chill proc with deathly chill wasn’t intended was it? And the fact that people we using effects in unintended ways … is not an exploit?
We have no idea what is or is not intended by arenanet. The only way we as players can make judgements about what is or is not a exploit is by precedent that the developers set.
By declaring Frost Gun a exploit, ArenaNet is setting the precedent that using <item> that interacts in a positive manner with <trait> is a exploit. Which is a huge problem because tons of bundles have interaction with various traits. Are those all exploits? Is picking up a Ice Bow on my necro a exploit? Are all bundles with chill skills a exploit? What about grenade bundles that interact with engi traits?
YouTube
They may have changed it, but I haven’t seen any redpost saying as such.
It’s been +15 every week for the entire season. Like why do we need a redpost when basic observation gives us 100% accurate picture.
YouTube
Honestly they need to put standard models in WvW too. Especially since standard models would allow more characters to be rendered by reducing calls to the harddrive. (every time someone is rendered the game has to load their gear models and character models from the harddrive.)
Honestly its the same setting as it is for sPvP.
Also what you are saying is the reason computers and video cards have ram…
And RAM has limits, the entire reason the game only renders like 25 people at a time tops is because it has to load all the gear character models into the RAM. Under standard models it would only have to load 9 models into the RAM, and use those 9 for every character it needs to render.
YouTube
Again, you don’t think Anet shouldn’t point the finger at the people exploiting … for exploiting? That must be another one of those ‘interesting’ ideas ….
But it’s not a exploit. Both the bundle and the trait are working as intended. And Frost Gun is hardly the only bundle with absurd power scaling. I seem to recall a bundle I found when doing world complete that had a nade skill that would did so much damage as to 1shot everything that wasn’t a champion.
A exploit is SAB box mistakenly granting immunity to negative status effects, because that is not the designed functionality of the box.
Chill spam is the designed purpose of Frost Gun. Frost Gun is not a exploit. Unintended probably, but to label people as exploiters is absurd.

Gw2 was “meant” to be a casual game, the leveling is definatley meant to appeal to a casual audience, mind you, if your looking for challenge, play Heart of Thorns.
Was it? The design of the game doesn’t really support that.
If it was meant to be easy then why did they go with a reflex based combat system that values fast reactions and active avoidance? Most “casual” games favor simplistic combat systems.
Also I seem recall that in the original beta there where Queensdale mobs that could one-shot lowbies if they didn’t dodge right, which was only changed after a massive amounts of negative feedback.

Hopefully they linger long enough to when people actually get paid. I don’t know how Anet does things but most people don’t get paid on Tuesdays.
If people have to wait for their paycheck in order to buy gems, they probably are not in a financial situation where they should be spending money on superfluous video game items.
YouTube
I mean lol…You don’t think there might be other reasons besides defensive support that auramancers and reapers are running strong together atm?
They run together expressidly for defensive support because necromancer is a easy tunnel. Because necro is a easy kill unsupported. Condi necro in competitive PvP has 1 winning 1v1 matchup and against support ele.
Look dude WvW is WvW. If you want to fix necros you should ask for WvW to stop using PvE gear systems and PvE trait versions. In competitive PvP necro is grossly underpowered defensively, and if weren’t for boon corrupts would be totally worthless.
but no obviously the best solution is to completely and utterly destroy necro’s PvE and sPvP viability just to fix WvW which will still be completely broken anyways.
YouTube
One of the major benefits of CPC is that it’s a projectile destruction. However it’s very difficult to use this projectile effectively outside of scripted encounters because of the prolonged cast time on the skill that inhibits our ability to get the skill off in time.
CPC is our only real defense against thief headshot spam, or LB ranger bursts, yet getting CPC off against those classes is difficult to the extreme. Against thieves the cast will typically get headshot interrupted. Rangers can complete much of their pet swap > F2> LB2 burst combo before the cast goes off.
CPC should get moved down to a 1/4th second cast time.
YouTube
Which funny enough should classify the current deathly chill wvw reapers the same with things like frost aura, frost whirling bolts, hydromancy sigil and so on.
Dude are you seriously trying to argue that Freezing Bolts and Frost Aura is a exploit?
Do you really think it was a accident that Reaper’s Shroud has it’s own ice field, whirl finisher, and leap finisher?
YouTube
I’m going to start by pointing out that the whole discussion is teed off of King Des Tode’s claim that bloodstone weapons where superior without counting any magical phenomena. So any explanation involving magical explody arrows supports my original claim.
Pressure is still going to be proportional to kinetic energy in the case of a projectile. While bloodstone may yield a better point, it’s still not going to be armor piercing, because how weak bows in general are. The only case I could ever find of a confirmed piercing of armor with a bow, was a modern test with a 160lb bow firing a bodkin point at steel breastplate at point blank. However a 160lb bow is well beyond what even practiced archers can pull. (estimates for the famous English Longbows where generally 80-110lbs, and firing those required a lifetime of practice)
You are correct about WM not testing bows. Because the WM never uses archers, and instead favor firearms, which makes sense since firearms will easily pierce armor without needing to be made of any hyper-rare material, and can be picked up with minimal training.
YouTube
Are these stat combos too strong for competitive play? Or are they balanced?
The removed stat combinations are balanced just fine for any situation that isn’t “stand in this one spot forever and don’t let anyone take it from you”.
The WvW forum spends it’s time complaining about god level necros and invincible warriors. But you never see that in sPvP. You know why? because sPvP doesn’t have the PvE bull that WvW does.
Half the things that the WvW forum complains about would be fixed by the sPvP stat restrictions. Sadly ya’ll are too busy claiming that it limits “diversity” despite the fact that the WvW meta is far more restrictive than the sPvP meta.
YouTube
downed players teleporting (or rather playersteleporting in general) is a desync issue, not a hack. It’s disadvantageous to the downed guy just as much as you because the desync prevents his team from rezzing him.
YouTube
just make WvW able to get ascended armor like sPvP can.
You’d have to be a fool to consider sPvP a viable method for acquiring ascended. The current ascended gear is sPvP is both just as expensive to acquire and requires even more grinding than standard crafting.
The best acquisition method for ascended is raids.
