Sigh, honestly people need to just not kitten and let arena net do their thing, there are some flaws and A Net knows that, but the balance is really not that bad right now. Most of the time its either in WvW where one player outnumbers or out gears another, or its a l2p issue in spvp. Yall criers just need to put your big girl pants on.
Arena Net would have so much trouble balancing this, it would be almost no different than the Cross Profession ability from GW1.
Honestly, looking at that list made me realize just how unloved daggers went. 2 skins, both essentially the same model, and no particle affect. I really really wish Jormag’s needle could have a effect to match my Jormag’s breath, because as it is now, Its nowhere near worth it to craft. It’s the only thing I need to complete my character, a good dagger skin that isn’t the legendary.

So I have been sitting on the “Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin” ever since Halloween waiting for the price to rise, however it hasn’t moved in some time. I’ve decided now that I want to sell it relatively quickly, but I am unaware of how best to price it, I don’t want to mark it so high that it takes forever/doesn’t sell, but I don’t want to price it too low either ya know haha. Please someone help me on this one.
I realize Arena Net will most likely never act solely on the feedback given in this forum as it is by no means a fair representation of the entire player base of gw2. The forum only represents a small percentage of the player base, and normally, a pretty kitten off one. However, I do believe that there has to be some way to accurately poll a fairly good representation of the player base, in the hopes of gaining a relatively accurate opinion.
Im not filled with near as much animosity as some people about the addition of ascended gear but I can’t say I wasn’t a little disappointed by it. I signed up for this game because I believed the entire premise of the game was that there would be no more vertical progression, which sounded so refreshing after all the other lame MMO’s. I feel a little cheated realizing now that I was wrong. I realize that Arena Net didn’t exactly lie to us by saying that there would never be Vertical Progression, but it was certainly not published very well that we would have it and already so early into the game.
I feel that this move towards vertical progression, although a slight one, is still too big of a deal to put into place without at least a poll that would be available to all parties. I don’t see how we couldn’t possibly combine a forum poll with an in game poll, much like the ones we had in the beta weekends asking us what we thought of the content such as the starter bosses and spvp maps. Keeping the polls up for maybe 1-2 weeks, allowing each person enough time to vote once either on the forum or in game (due to the fact that many users on the forum no longer play the game because of fotm and ascended gear) on whether they want vertical progression should give a relatively accurate estimation of the feelings of the entire player base.
What do you all think? Pointing out faults in my theory and suggesting alternatives would be much appreciated.
And I apologize if there are already to many threads like this, or if I broke some rules by posting this, I just felt I needed to get my point across. feel free to lock it if it is unworthy.
BTW, as you may be able to see, I am personally not a huge fan of vertical progression, but I would be ok with it as long as that is what the majority of the player base wants. I just feel the players deserve more of a say, even though I am aware we have no right to it.

I only realized this because I happened to be escorting a Dolyak today, and I was aware that I would not get Karma, Exp, or Gold for it, but I wondered if I would at least get credit for it as a Dynamic Event. So I got the gold trophy for escorting but when I checked if I got credit for it with the monthly, I realized I was still sitting at 66 DE’s (Dynamic Events) out of 75.
This got me curious so I started checking the rest of my events during my time in WvW. Before I logged I had Succeeded in repelling the attackers from a tower, capping a supply camp, and capping a tower. However, at the end of the day I was only sitting at 67 dynamic events for my monthly with only one of those three events counting. In all these events except one I received a gold participation and all events were successful, not failed.
Any Suggestions, or is this a bug? Because this is literally the last thing I have left on my monthly and it would suck if it was all because of a bug.
Another Fractals disconnect 3/4 of the way through. I know you guys said there will be a fix soon and you will eventually outline it in a Jan, Feb, and March update notice, but I would really like to see this sooner rather than later…this is starting to get rather annoying.

So I am an Asuran dagger dagger ele and have been searching for the most visually appealing dagger short of a legendary.
The main problem, as many of you already know, is that I use daggers and I am Asuran. I recently crafted the Mystic Spike, but was really unimpressed with the visuals and particle effects (Nobody can actually see it unless I tell them it’s there.) Basically after doing some research, I have narrowed it down to the corrupted shard, the ghastly AC dungeon dagger, and the Kodan dungeon dagger. Since I am unable too see the full effects in a preview, I am kind of stumped as to which one would look best on my puny Asuran. Any insight or recommendations on these or other daggers would be greatly appreciated, price is no concern, ty all.
This wouldn’t bother me nearly as much, if with every new piece of ascended gear/weapon you grinded for came with a level 80 transmutation stone. I don’t feel its fair though that by the time I finally got almost 2/3 of my exotic weapons and armors upgraded and transmuted with the skins I wanted, They announced Ascended gears. Shows that I am either gonna have to shell out some more cash for fine transmutation stones everytime they raise the powerlevel, or I just wont be able to take pride in my character.
I just did the Tixx 5 man instance, and everyone in my group chose the griffon frame for our reward. However, once we completed it, not only did I not receive a griffon frame, but I didnt even get any mystical cogs or stuffing/glue. The only thing I was able to loot was the chest. I haven’t done a dungeon in over 24 hours so I know its not DR. Please fix this bug, I want to make my griffon tonic.

Hello, I really enjoy being able to survive rather than being a glass cannon, and I have always been pretty fond of putting out some kind of group support. I had developed a pretty good staff bunker build that I was having fun with up until they nerfed EA again. Since than I have turned to Scepter dagger (as I really enjoy the three heal combo when i switch too water with the double cleansing wave) and have been doing alright, but I still feel like it could be more efficient. Could anyone suggest or point me towards a scepter dagger bunker build? Killing fast is not a priority, only surviving.

5) The ‘other’ diagonal jump. A highly situational technique. This one is better for precisely controlling distance and takes a long time to set up. First of all, lets assume you jump 24 inches forward. And you need to get on a ledge that’s 14-22 inches. If you jump 12 inches (a half jump) then you will fall short, if you jump the full 24 inches then you will jump past the platform and fall off. The solution would be to perform a 3/4 distance jump which is tricky to pull off. The OTHER solution would be to jump at a diagonal angle if the platforms allow that. Jumping at a diagonal angle will shave off distance depending on how sharp the angle is. This principle helps during one of the final jumps (the jump onto the really thin candy cane near the very end).

If your world is not winning this week, you are most likely getting blown out and will drop back a few spots in the standings next week. So when you start dominating again the next week just enter WvW and get all that you need. It literally takes like 2.5 hours to complete all the maps, maybe 3-4 if your world is losing because you have to sneak around but its really not that big of a deal. Definitely much easier than any of the other maps in the game.

Water skills often have lame damage. It’s part of the concept.
Air #1 is just really, really stupid, especially as it’s bugged.You really don’t like Air #1? It’s a great damage filler between the dragon’s tooth/phoenix->… combo.
I think the Air number 1 skill throws alot of people off because of the big number it throws out at the end. You have to realize the number is the combined damage from every lightning whip hit. when it goes like 800, 1200, 1800..etc, you really only did 1800 damage total, not 3,800. Next time your using it, don’t use lightning strike or any other air skills, just use the auto attack, you will see that its actually quite weak, and barely does anything to their health bar.

I’d just like to put it out there that I feel its really strange that I can play this game for 400 hours and get relatively mediocre loot from every chest, but than you give away precursors, 20 slot bags, exotics, and other great loot, on a Sunday that I have to work all day. Im not expecting to be compensated or anything but if you look at it from my perspective, I could have made as much gold today by opening this one chest as I have from playing the game since headstart. So I just feel that with those circumstances, this event should have been a 48 hour event running all through the weekend, not a one time event.
I honestly hope they scratch the old dungeon ideas moving ahead and just continue to add more fractals. I enjoy the randomness, and I know the old dungeons have some cool stuff, but I find that a casual player like myself rarely has time to sit down and try to tackle Arah, or AC, or something like that for 3 hours. These Fractals are perfect.
for this act 2, do you have to complete act 1 and get the first 6 clues, or can you just start at clue 7?

God you people are unbelievable. I could understand this when it was release, because you literally couldn’t play the game. But for this, god its just not that big of a deal. Go play some WvW for a while, do some karma events, or go to bed and get up and play it tomorrow, the event runs through Nov. I know they said there will be a one time event or something, but I seriously think they have that under control and will be trying to make it very available to everyone. If it happens at a random time, its definitely not gonna yield special items that you can only get during that one time.

The problem with this is that you assume that there is any point to WvW — as if any of it actually matters. I rarely play first person shooters — for the same reason as to why I don’t really enjoy WvW.
I play(ed) MMORPGs because I liked watching my character progress in power. For people like myself the leveling from 1-80 seemed natural — we progressed. At 80, we obtained essentially the last gear we will ever need until the next expansion (and maybe not even then). No longer was character progression the goal. And, at level 80 with “max” gear — that is my primary issue. I have no meaningful goals. There is nothing that will provide me an opportunity to truly continue my characters
Your right, I guess I had trouble seeing it from your point of view. I guess GW2 really just works for me because I still see it as a video game, and I realize that at the end of the day, nothing that happens in the game actually matters, and it could all be erased tomorrow. So when im playing, I already see it as a big waste of time, so I might as well have fun wasting time instead of getting frustrated or worrying about goals and things I need to complete in the game. I can have fun in WvW because I don’t need that sense of prestige or that sense of always getting to the next level, or next goal. I just play video games to have fun and pass the time, I always felt like “Why take something so seriously when I know it won’t be permanent?” I think GW2 is just for those people who are more casual and realize that its just not that important, and you don’t have to always be the greatest at everything. Its kind of like Call of Duty, I never needed any reward to play that over and over, I just liked blowing kitten up and chilling with my friends. I don’t look at games for rewards, rewards come in real life. And I honestly feel that this game will not appeal to people who need to be constantly rewarded from their video games. The true reward is just relaxing and not worrying about anything and just having fun in the game. That’s enough of a reward for me.

I’ve been on the dominating side, rolling around with the zerg and capping towers and keeps as an unstoppable force. But I’ve also been on the side that’s getting dominated and this seems to be where most people just don’t get it. If your getting dominated, especially if your outnumbered, you shouldn’t be rolling around with the zerg trying to cap heavily fortified towers and what not. What you should be doing is getting together a 5 man supply camp raiding team together that you can take to sneak behind enemy lines cut off supply to their tower, and doing dynamic events to get the help of ogres, dredge and hylek while wreaking havoc with guerilla and stealth warfare. This will draw away some of their force away from your zerg, which gives your zerg a chance to actually succeed. If you roll around with the zerg and you don’t have any strategy or anything, the only thing you will be doing is shelling out money for them armor repair costs. Now if your someone who just hates the idea of forming a party and doesn’t want to run around all ninja like, than you should camp your kitten at one of your few remaining towers or keeps, and find yourself some siege equipment. This may not be for everyone as it does take patience, but it can be a hell of alot of fun when your killing 30 – 40 of the enemy zerg every half hour as they continuously throw themselves at your walls. If your having a hard time finding fun in this video game, its because your looking to hard. In reality you don’t believe a game with no end game (gear grind) can be fun, so your making it lame. I find the best way to play this game is to log in, grab whichever character I feel like playing, and do whatever I like to do. When you focus on grinding map completion, or gear, or doing so many DEs to get your karma up, your not gonna have fun. This isn’t like other games where your always rushing after your next goal or next tier. I know people say this all the time, but you really do have to adapt to it, its not about setting goals and getting to the highest tier. Its about rollin up a J, cracking open some beer, and than logging in to blow kitten up with a whole bunch of people you don’t even know.

Im still disapointed that they said there was gonna be like 20 mini games or something that we could play in all the citys, but we still barely have one and it doesn’t look like we will be seeing anymore anytime soon.
It would be hard pressed to find a crafter who wouldn’t do this for you if you provided the mats. Its nice of you to post this, but I really don’t think your doing people as much of a service as your really think you are.
Yeah, I actually find it a problem picking traits because I find them all to be really useful in certain situations, I hate only having 70 trait points, but it makes sense I guess.
globs of ectoplasm, and possibly the sigils attached to these weapons (if they are superior) thats why they cost that much.
