What’s your technique? Since the food nerf, I find that when I tank a large mobs I eventually get knocked down. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower. [/quote]
That is nice, but that is your play-style, some of us choose to use and abuse every aspect the game has to offer and not with to detriment our group by not, we got nerfed while you did not.
The new food is entirely useless, if many people didn’t have a problem with it there wouldn’t be so many posts about it everywhere, couple that with the fact a lot of people don’t even use these forums.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
In the future maybe think this out more as these nerfs have consequences far beyond the “instant heal” of some classes. If you had given a boost to vitality/healing to certain professions along with this chance it would have be warranted as we would be at status quo, but now… what a waste of the corrupted daggers I made…
Yes, cosmetic items are so expensive and yet directly tied to your build. Casually nerfing things to the ground can cause a major loss. Just imagine if you were using legendary weapons.
I could spend a lot of resources to beautify/ascend my Altruistic Healing Guardian build, but I guess since it is now a leader in tanky DPS that also has great support, it will get the next nerf. After all, it is support with damage? NERF IT! Do I really want to bother with this?
Hammer Altruistic Guardian ftw.

Why do they act like warriors were the only people running around with the food buff ? EVERYBODY was running around with it,especially thiefs.
Non-Backstab Thieves too, now they can pretty much kiss them goodbye.

More like 30 points.
The trait itself costs 5 points.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Meanwhile, the team Elementalist attuned to water and did a dodge roll for close to the same effect and it didn’t cost him a single utility slot. -_-
Hey! No! thats not true!
It costed him 5 trait points in his best tree!
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Well, time for me to throw my necro vamp build in the trash since they refuse to let it scale with healing power. The pie was the only way I could make it work, now I might as well not even be using the pie anymore. I now have zero ways to make that build more viable. Ninja nerfs fml.
Well after being level 80 for many months now I’m not going to do something as drastic as throwing out mine. I will be redoing a few traits and switch to using scepter/dagger just like every other necro out there. Way to make us have “many viable choices” when as a necro you have only two right now (MM and condi). The MM (minion master) must rely on a buggy AI so it doesn’t really count and your bleed stack at 25 so the condi necro isn’t really useful with others bleed builds in the party either. So instead of taking away the instant heal of some classes you have in essance nerfed the living kitten out of one of the only builds us necros have for party play.
In the future maybe think this out more as these nerfs have consequences far beyond the “instant heal” of some classes. If you had given a boost to vitality/healing to certain professions along with this chance it would have be warranted as we would be at status quo, but now… what a waste of the corrupted daggers I made…
Yep!
Have fun being like everyone else.
Warriors actually had one of our heals nerfed on top of this.

I’d like to see one of our low health, low dps pets have a see stealthed skill. That could go a long way to balancing stealth in WvWvW.
They already do. (Mobs now chase you in stealth.)
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Are you experiencing this in PvE or WvW?
Probably both due to minions/ranger pets/temp pets.

10% Critical Hit Damage
2 Sigil slotsTotal stats of one Berserker’s Greatsword
179 Power
128 Precision
9% Critical Hit Damage
1 Sigil slotOn paper this looks quite unfair. 1 Power isn’t much, but 1% Critical Hit Damage and a second Sigil slot does seem like a big deal.
On paper.
Am I missing something?
Weapon Strength for One-Hander = 1,000
Weapon Strength for Two-Hander = 1,100
Two-Handers have a 10% Base Damage increase over 1-handers.

Well, you can’t “always” hit the mob, you could also be knocked down, CCed, Frozen, Rooted, Or just away from the mob not able to hit them. So you can’t always hit them.
1) You can’t “Always” have Regeneration (Except for a few builds on certain classes) and it can always be removed by various boon removal tools.
2) At least 1 of the procs is upon being hit, which is a 2 piece bonus and would do more than triple the HPS than another runes 6 set bonus on average
That Rune isn’t really that good, It needs upgraded greatly as well. (I could argue that a lot of Runes need upgraded to be on par with Runes of Divinity.)

Run Twilight Arbor saying that with a pug group, the dogs pretty much wiped our entire group due to the aggro I got, I was downed instantly, before I could at least heal up with my pies and try to tank the dogs for a bit as people killed them, but now that is not a viable option.
Those dogs are why you have a Hammer. Leg Specialist + Hammer Shock makes their charge inneffective, then stun and smash.
Or: Smoldering Arrow them before they charge.
Or: Shield Stance and let them pile up on you.
They don’t pounce or waste a pounce on you if your already knocked down or have a immunity to it up, they wait until its over then waste all there CDs on you.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Hmm…
3 separate life steals on what seems like 3 separate 1 second cooldowns…
Allowing for up to 975 HPS or on average about:
48 HPS for the Sigil (Assuming 50% crit chance)
97.5 HPS for the Rune procs
About 243 HPS along with 243 DPS (As life steal does both damage that is unmitigated by armour as well as healing)Compared to Dolyak Runes (30 HPS) + Mango Pies (85 HPS) and Regeneration boon (130 HPS with no healing power, about 317 HPS if using full Healing Power gear)
At what cost? 50 points of a secondary stat and some (Usually) lackluster 6 bonus plus a cooldown sigil which may or may not be more beneficial depending on build?
I like the current runes, increasing the healing of a healing skill by 975 whilst also making it do the same damage is great as well as the proc heal (Though I sometime wish it was 10% chance…)
The only issue I have with the 6 bonus is that is for some reason shares cooldown with traits that proc on % health…
Well, you can’t “always” hit the mob, you could also be knocked down, CCed, Frozen, Rooted, Or just away from the mob not able to hit them. So you can’t always hit them.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I changed it to toughness + healing power to nerf toughness a lot, since you start with 916, this will make it so a warrior is good with it if he stacks both toughness + healing power.
This makes it so full glass cannons do not benefit so much from it, but allows you to min-max and hybridize the ability and makes it fun for almost any build that goes into the toughness tree.
This nerfed it… but still made it good for those who spec into it. ((healing for 54 every critical in a high glass cannon build is still good.
))
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
(edited by Daecollo.9578)
Well everyone has some BASE toughness. Do you mean it ignores that and only pays attention to what you add yourself? I like the idea of this ability as someone who hates running pure glass.
Yes, but this means it would be much more powerful to someone who actually has stacks toughness.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Cool on paper, but does mobs crit? And hows about conditions? Do they crit too? And bunker builds without crits at all?
Warriors who bunker and use conditions have plenty of ways to still critical hit.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil_of_Accuracy
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fury
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heightened_Focus
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blademaster
Bunker Builds without Precision can still critical fine if they use the traits properly, even those who have a lot of boon duration because of Fury. (Vitality Bunkers.)
The Warrior was built around critical hitting regardless of play-style, we have so many ways to critical other classes do not, and we have more access to the fury boon no other class has.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Renewing Vitality:
Gain health every critical hit (or just hit.), scales with toughness and healing power.. (When you hit something, not when your hit.)
0.1*Level + (0.05 * Toughness.) + (0.15 * Healing Power.)
It only heals for 54 (53.8) at level 80 with no gear.
This would be deep within the toughness tree, its basis is the Warrior would slowly gain health the longer he fights, but it also matters how tough his body is. This would allow Warriors to have sustain… but only the tough ones.

Pies didn’t make Hundred Blades the best heal in the game.
It just allowed you to survive the random mob cleave and complete the attack, lol!
‘Best heal in the game’ doesn’t have to mean ‘makes you unkillable’.
Name a heal that could get you as much HP as Omnomberry pies could WHILE doing as much damage as Hundred Blades….
Go ahead, I can wait.
Name any Healing ability that does damage…?
O_o
Are you going to make a list or not?
Hundred Blades is the strongest attack in the game, so there isn’t really a list that can be made, you awnsered your own question.
Of course. Why the attack was made so strong is exactly WHY it roots you. You don’t just spam attacks like an idiot. You judge when you can get it off safely and optimally. Omnomberry pies let you skip that part (the thinking part, that is).
If you didn’t dodge an aoe, it would usually knock you down and down you during the 100 blades if you didn’t dodge.
People just didn’t ignore AOEs, we had to follow them more-so because we are in melee and constantly getting hit hard.
“But nerfing Omnom on the other hand took all thinking out of using HB now you just know you can never use it on trash mobs or in group wvw.” YUP.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I’m afraid this is not Diablo III.
You don’t have to stand still as much. You can activate skills while moving, even most melee skills.
This makes movement the main method of survival. It’s not that you are not healing enough, it’s that you are not moving enough.
There are times when mobs force you to stand still in encounters and some classes don’t have access to a lot of dodging abilities.

Meanwhile Guardians and Elementalists have near Perma-Vigor and can actually roll when they need to, and have skills that give back endurance, unlike Warrior.
Elementalists are still the best in WvWvW, and now that nobody can compare to there heals, they can stack healing/toughness/power and be gods. They can have a thing that makes them critical every time they swap attunements and they have utiliity that makes them critical the next 5 attacks, they don’t need precision like warrior does.
With Omnomberry Pies, Warriors could “Come-Close” to Elementalists, but now they simply cannot compare, we just get destroyed before we can do anything.
Would you rather have 45% Damage Reduction…
Or would you have 42% Damage Reduction + Heavy Condition Removal + 33% Damage Reduction + 275 heals every second + 145 heals every second + a Cleansing Wave every 10 seconds after a dodge + 100% endurance regeneration + Moves that make you invulnerable and immune to CC + tons of mobility to move in and out of sticky situations?

Wow, I play a warrior and I never relied on health steal food. Strangely this change hasn’t affected my ability to handle dungeons in the least. If you play a GC then yes there needs to be risks for you. Sorry to say, that’s the definition of a GLASS CANNON. Adapt, is the only thing I can say. Sorry you enjoyed something for so long that was truly broken but I can only say it wasn’t right you could stand there and out heal while simply doing max damage. That’s broken.
I’m sorry, but that statement is very very incorrect.
You have to dodge like everyone else, or you would get oneshotted by most AOEs.
Unless your talking about OLD AC + COF, which in that case, Guardians can still stand there and do the same thing as before.
AOEs in fractals and hard dungeons destroyed you.

Would be nice to know what the internal cooldown is now.
1 second.
Which is funny, because none of the pies really matter that much anymore besides the stats, because of the cooldown, it doesn’t matter if its 30% or 66%.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Warriors have no business complaining about anything PVE related.
Being able to go full glass cannon without consequences was bad for the game.
From what I’ve read you’ve no idea what your talking about, you can’t stand in AOEs and just live through it with food, especially in HARD content.
I’m sure he just meant CoF+Old AC, which anyone can STILL stand in and not care.

Of course this conversation turned to stealth – the OP went that his build that was crutching against the unlimited food heal spam is now ‘broken’ because his rapid sword attack move is no longer a win button, and now the only option left is the stealth spamming backstab build. I argue that the thief has many tools and could be a great advanced class, but the stealth with broken culling makes it where no other build could compare. If that were fixed, we would have a half dozen good builds on thief. Stealth spam builds will always stay – but you stealthing won’t stop me from hitting you. Well timed blinds/evades/CC would. Thieves have that in spades, but never needed it as they have easy exploits – who cares if I can hit you when I never know where to hit you ever? The food was lost (all classes used this). I’m hoping they’ll now lose the other.
We would have 1-2 builds that probably arn’t very viable for any content.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
This thread is about Pistol Whip and how it stinks, S/P thieves have nothing to do with stealth.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
High Stats =/= Better Class
Boons = OP classWith full soldier gear, warriors can get at most 45% dmg reduction.
Mind you a Glass zerk with just base armor would get 13% dmg reduction and protection boon gives 30% which stacks additively. So a total of 43% dmg reduction for any other class who has access to protection and can still go full zerk.
If anyone wants to debate why certain glasses have bunker builds, is because if they went bunker typed builds and obtained protection boon, they effectively can get close to 60-70% dmg reduction.
With Full Soldier Gear, Guardian can get 93% Damage Reduction.
45%15%33%! (I know it goes 15+33%, then -45%, but it looks funner like this!)

Ya, but an elementalist can do your job only better, with aoe, and with combo fields…
Or a engineer with grenades for that matter
Thief with shortbow
We still eat more damage than a guardian and can do more dps… Its unfortunate that all warrior builds in high end dungeons or WvW for that matter now must begin with an automatic 30 points into Tactics, but its become increasingly clear that Anet hasnt a clue how their “minor changes” effect the game.
They are so busy with trying (and failing) to make sPvP into an eSport that the rest of the game has essentially become an afterthought.
Actually they know very well.
They flat out said that going full glass cannon and trading blows with a boss is not how they intended it to be played. And thats exactly what a majority of you rely on.
You want to go full glass and melee great, but your going to have to actually play, dodge and time your heals. Its called high risk dps. No other class can really reach the sustained damage of a warrior, let alone do it with the surviability and healing a warrior was getting from pies….. there is a reason groups were call for 4 zerkers + 1 mesmer. It wasn’t because they thought heavy armored axe wielding warriors were pretty to look at its because they provided the fastest dps and runs.
He even specifically mention’s warriors and hes right…. a warrior can just stand there for the most part and heal from all his crits while doling out top damage lol.
From the dev that made the change to food:
Food item life steal on crit Cooldown: The best heal in the game can’t be 100 blades or other similar attacks. If you want to play a glass cannon, there should be danger involved, and the food buff mitigated the danger and allowed glass cannons to stand and trade blows without having to utilize their own heals or dodge rolls. They could just stand still and win – and that’s not the type of dynamic combat we want for our game. We test our content without the food buffs to ensure they are capable to players without access to them, and make sure the balance is good enough for players who don’t have those buffs. There are a lot of other viable food buffs in the game, and this one food buff meant a core few items were dominating all the others.Whats sad about this is you guys are about the whiniest freaking place on these forums even when you were considered the best pve class you would still whine and cry about “being broken” I bet the other professions would love to have even half the traits and hp/armor you guys have along with the base damage you get rofl.
Food got nerfed warriors didn’t your bad if you made food your bread and butter, and thats all there is to it.
That is a RIDICULOUS statement, my warrior is in full Knight’s and used that food, If I didn’t AVOID AOEs like everyone else, I would get ONE shotted and there is nothing that food could do to save me.
If I got knocked down and singled out, I would get ONE shotted, and there is nothing that food could do to save me.
In High level dungeons, if I didn’t avoid the bosses AOEs like everyone else, I died, and there is nothing that food could of done to save me.
He probably mentioned CoF path 1 or the old AC Paths, which anyone could do, even without food and stand there and take AOEs (They still can if they play a guardian!), That is called “Bad Design.” and not the players fault.
There are times I had to cancel Hundred blades and dodge because I was taking so much aoe damage it was ridiculous and I couldn’t sit there.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
So nice update.
- Less people doing dungeons.
- Less viable builds.
- Almost impossible to do at the rated and recommended level.
- Nerfing things without feedback from the players and nothing to compensate. (Aka nerfing builds.)
I’d say this is very successful.
The statement at start is even ridiculous. “Standing there in full berserker’s tanking named with the food?” make a video and prove it to me, all the dungeons I have done unless your talking about old AC and CoF Path 1-2 (which are so easy, anyone can still do that.). I am in full “Knight’s Gear” (Which apparently has more toughness then berserkers! that should mean more survivability right?) and often I would have to cancel to dodge out of the way of AOEs and knockdown mobs because they would just one shot me before I could do anything.
To be honest, if the zones you designed are that easy, its not the foods problem, its yours for making the AOE not significant enough, its called “bad design.”
Which is exactly what I think of when I go into CoF and old AC, it was stupid easy anyone could do it.
But saying they could just face-tank named when there is tons of CC/Knockdown/Anything dangerous like in harder dungeons and fractals? That is ridiculous. In berserker gear, any burst dps would destroy you.
If you wanted to nerf the food, you could of done it in many ways. I will give you one right now! “make it scale good with toughness!” that way it doesn’t benefit full zerkers as much but benefits tanks a lot more! Toughness could use a buff anyways!
This is simply my feed-back though, however I don’t have any desire to step foot into a new dungeon since my play-style was destroyed, unless warriors gain some sustain i’m pretty much done playing one, its not simply fun anymore. (I could also beg a Guardian to come help me, since that is apparently what i’m suppost to do now…)
Interesting Food/Mechanics/Runes/Sigils/Builds and Customization keep people in the game, and all I see from you guys are basicly cookie-cuttering everyone into 2-3 builds, its very lazy and sloppy in my opinion. PvP/PvE will never be balanced unless you make everyone the same.

Dolyak Signet should reduce incoming damage by 10%, and then we should get a trait that makes the passives of signets better.
Healing Signet: Improves Healing by 50%.
Signet of Might: 50% More Power.
Signet of Stamina: 75% Endurance Regeneration.
Dolyak Signet: 15% Damage Reduction.
Signet of Fury: 50% More Precision.Stop. Seriously, you’re just being annoying now.
Warriors don’t have to become Guardians to be good.
Let it go and either re-roll a guardian yourself or start contributing something useful towards the Warrior class as an independent class.
I already did, i’m just offering my suggestions.

1 second cd? It is still too strong, because it is effected by +healing. It would need to be fixed healing on a slider scale based on level. If up to ANet wouldn’t surprise me if it would be locked at 100-125 healing done with no way of raising it. They do NOT want us capable of healing while attacking in any serious way unless it is slow regen healing.
Life taps are not effected by any stats, not even healing power.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
The problem is you want to be able to steal life faster than you can lose it, it won’t happen. This is the very reason they nerfed the food.
Don’t expect them to do more than glance at this and laugh. The life steal is ment to be a bonus, to ocassionally lessen the hits you take, not completely over-write them. They want to get rid of glass cannon builds, not enable them with rune/sigil combos.
The only reason that could happen was because of high profile attacks like Whirling Axe, which hit 15 times.
With 3 different ways all 1 second CD, it wouldn’t be overpowered, it would be another way to play.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
That’s just the thing, who’s to say it doesn’t help? It does just fine for me. If it doesn’t work for you there are plenty of others, maybe one of those would. I want it to even out my Power along with my Bloodlust Sigil since I’m using Cleric to buff Healing Power. I chose it over the other +Power sets for the number 6. The lifesteal is just extra to me, and I don’t care about it.
You would probably be happier with a different Rune set anyway since you want to stack Precision.
Power isn’t really worthless without Critical, the idea is just an idea, you could put any stat in there besides precision and the idea would still be that idea.
Lifestealing isn’t effected by Healing Power, you would probably benefit a lot more by using a mix of Monk/Water Runes for your regeneration.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I don’t give up anything for it. I wanted it from the start just the way it is.
It doesn’t really help you that much, besides the ‘6’ ability, and that can proc after your downed already.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
The main thing I’m seeing is basically what you want is, close to, every third time I hit someone, get hit by someone and crit someone I should steal their life. Making the rune set and sigil as a close second to heal by doing sigils, yes? That sounds significantly more powerful than they want it to be.
Also, Vampirism gives Power, not Precision, which is why I use it at all. I definately don’t want that to change.
You give up a lot for it, it should be more powerful.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2

For those also thinking I went rogue and did this, I went through all the checks and balances, and discussed the changes with leads. While I do have the power to change dungeons, things that affect the world outside of dungeons is handled through meetings to make sure everyone is on board with a proposed solution.
This was a great change and a good step toward profession balancing. I’ve stated a number of times on this forum of my regret in choosing a necro over a warrior. The main reason being is that a warrior turned out to be so much more powerful and has a much greater loot potential when farming mobs than my condition damage necro. I chose the necro purely for appearance as it is the least ugly of the Asura females. That is honestly why I’m a necro.
At the time I bought GW2, it was touted by ANet that the professions, overall, were equally balanced. Well, how different that became.
As Hrouda implies, the short of it is that there should be no build possible that allows anyone to stand there and get hacked on without any chance of risk. This is lazy and if these things allowed warriors to do that, they were a serious crutch. At worst I’d almost consider an exploit that made warriors extremely overpowered.
Now Warrior is one of the worst classes in PvE, WvWvW, SPVP. There is really nothing special or fun about them, they don’t have many boons and they’re fun stuff is limited and clunky, they don’t have any cool traits or skills you can really abuse like other classes and they are just “ok.”
Every other class does things better, except damage… but we can’t really pull that kind of damage anymore without being in melee. Melee + Dungeon = Death.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I’m happy with it the way it is. Turn to mist at 10% has saved my life more times than I even know. 25% would make it easier, but I don’t need it to be easier. I don’t use Blood or lifesteal food, though, I prefer just straight regen.
Maybe 20% would be better?

For those upset about the changes I made to Food items that life steal on crit, and the spy kit, here’s some words:
Spy Kits: permanent stealth at the cost of karma isn’t good. It’s practically exploitative since it’s a pay-karma-to-win scenario, and it needed to change. We test all of our dungeon content without the use of external items to make sure it is all capable of being completed. This has led though, to a recent surge in players using items from the open world in dungeons to trivialize content or outright break bosses designed to present a specific challenge to a five man group.Food item life steal on crit Cooldown: The best heal in the game can’t be 100 blades or other similar attacks. While I do have the power to change dungeons, things that affect the world outside of dungeons is handled through meetings to make sure everyone is on board with a proposed solution.
To bad you never thought a solution to how that would effect other classes. You completely destroyed many viable builds, and you changed nothing to compensate for this, you obliterated play-styles and failed to look at other things like “Runes of Vampirism” and “Sigil of Blood” not changing them for the compensation, you did nothing but destroy without any discussion or feedback to your players or community.
You should revert the food changes, or at least change rune of Vampirism and Sigil of Blood to be the same effect so the play-style can remain in a taxed/nerfed form.
I would also really go back and look at the Warrior and offer them some kind of compensation as well, especially to sustain or protection because it honestly is not even fun anymore, i’ve completely lost my will to play dungeons or the game, and now I just role-play until classes are changed or balanced around being fun again.
There are other ways to nerf the item as well without adding an internal cooldown and nerfing some high-hit rate attacks without completely destroying a play-style.
For example:
“This item can only take affect 3 times per second, and then it refreshes every second.” This way it doesn’t “DESTROY” the food and still makes it fun and viable AND nerfs what is overpowered of the item.
Many of us who used this were Knight’s Geared players as well, Tanks for our group, we didn’t just stand in the thick of it and melee, we dodged as well and took the mobs to tank them, we did our job well and you took our job away from us and the only viable alternative is to drop that play-style or re-roll to guardian. (which did not get effected nearly as much, due to the fact that there attacks don’t swing that quickly.)
I can completely understand the other changes, because skipping content is wrong.

How is it possible that GC warriors can suddenly become unviable w/o lifesteal food when this entire time I’ve been melee’ing stuff on my thief W/O any food….? How can my thief who is squishier, manage to survive but a warrior who is naturally tankier than me cannot…?
The difference in medium/heavy armor is less then 5% in damage reduction is why.
Warriors naturally have higher base HP than thieves, but fact remains…I melee, warrior melee, why can’t warrior survive but thief can…?
And you run what? Knight gear? Well I run Berserker gear…
Knight’s gear is a curse, the person with the lowest vitality/highest toughness gets attacked first.

There were official response. It was like that: you are almost invulnerable if fighting 3+ mobs at the same time
So they desided to add internal CD.
Where was it? And really that is not true. (maybe in open world, but nobody really cares about that.)

Ranger Pet’s and NPCs can now track stealth thieves, we did get a nerf.

There are probably 15+ threads dedicated to the nerf, and no developer responses yet.

Can we please give it 900-1,200 Range?

We’re talking about damage and you’re saying something about toughness.
I don’t know if you are a troll or a court jester.
Your previous post said you had 30 in the toughness tree.

I use it for more power, and the occational bonus health which I assume is buffed pretty well since I stack healing power, and the final ability. I don’t really know that 25% would be a better save my kitten limit than 10% and I want it to save my kitten.
You can be bursted down before 10% though is the problem.

At the time I bought GW2, it was touted by ANet that the professions, overall, were equally balanced. Well, how different that became.
