Don’t get me wrong, Guardian has access to a lot of heals—if you build and trait for them, that is. But when I go from playing my Warrior with Healing Signet to playing my Guardian I’m still amazed at how superior Warrior regeneration is with so little effort. For example, Healing Signet + Adrenal Health (minor trait) grants a warrior approximately 500 health per second in full Berserker gear and full Berserker trait. Pair that with Warrior’s health pool and I rarely ever pay any attention to my Warrior’s health in PvE gameplay. That’s pretty insane.

Currently Virtue of Resolve heals for ~100 with a full Berserker build. Now I’m not suggesting it be anywhere near Healing Signet, but surely increasing it to 150-200 wouldn’t be game breaking considering Guardian was given the lowest HP pool in exchange for “more healing”

So ya want it to be 250, then be able to 1250 hp/s (to 5 group.)

Sure, as long as you buff every single passive heal in the game to compensate.

Virtue of resolve coupled with AH coupled with Writ of the merciful and selfless daring… Guard HPS is fine. Warrior HPS is ridiculous because they aren’t sacrificing much to get a ton of healing… guardians sacrifice all damage to get their amazing heals.

Guardians don’t sacrifice as much to get a ton of damage, they don’t sacrifice heavy defense like Warriors have to, to get high DPS. They’re damage is build straight into their tanking tree. 0/0/30/0/0.

You still have not provided ANY evidence as to how you came up with your healing and instant skill numbers. “What i did there” was provide numbers without evidence… not “troll”.You say eles have more healing, yet you cannot prove it. I already gave you my numbers and math. Lets see yours.

1. Subjective commentary, not shared by all and not demonstrated in matches either by direct observation or by the simple and obvious evidence that top Pvpers don’t choose to play warrior or add warriors to their team comp.

2-3 Not evidence. Warrior is a flagship class of any fantasy MMO. They are always over represented by gross numbers. You might as well say that Humans are broken in GW2 because you see so many being played.

4. Bald faced lie. Completely false. 3 of the 40 players making up the teams of the finals and semi-finals of PAX and ESL were warriors. 6 of 40 in the latest MLG. I think you are talking about Guardians and Rangers who made up 8 and 9 players respectively.

The actual trend in high level play is encouraging that warriors are finding a place. Quit spreading poorly thought out misinformation please.

1. When was the last time you watched a competitive PvP match exactly? That is just a false statement.

2-3. In fact, human is not the most popular race in Guild Wars 2 competitive scene, but Asuras are, which are, in fact, broken for multiple reasons. I think you aren’t that much into competitive PvP. When you are talking about competion, there isn’t any preference. People just pick the best profession/race possible and it isn’t a case that FotM professions are usually the overpowered ones.

4. Warriors become FotM only for the PAX finals and, in fact, CC changed their team comp to add a warrior in it for finals, despite the fact that they never ran one since that point. Also, in the latest MLG tournament, 6 of the 40 players are warrior is an huge numer. That means that 8 teams out of 6 ran warrior. It’s a pretty high percentage considering that a Warrior does not fit any core role.
Guardian and Rangers, on the other hand, are mid point and close point bunkers, who are mandatory roles for every competitive team. Because of how conquest is designed and how those professions are designed, they are a requirement. Warrior, on the other hand, does not fit any of those roles, means that the only variety comes from the other 3 free spots and most of them are occupied by Warriors, which says much.

So what does that say about Guardians and Rangers? They must be ridiculous.

Quit complaining because you don’t like good stuff happening to warriors.

You know good and well Elementalist can heal better than Warriors and you’re trying to find an argument because of Healing Signet ticks better than it did before.

In pvp it does help out warriors just a tad and that’s about it.

But they doesn’t heal more than warriors. The math is in this thread. It heals substantially less without max healing power.

In SPVP it is 331 healing every second no healing power.
In PVE it is 367 healing every second with no healing power.

This is assuming your using a spell exactly every second, using certain combinations of instant spells you can proc this off multiple times.

This is all assuming your only using a spell every second. If your using more then one spell every second An elementalist can use up to 7 spells a second.. Also this procs off itself as well. If you calculate that then it could be much higher HP/S then HS, this is all depending on your build as well. I also think it procs off sigil procs however I am not sure.

Your also forgetting the little trait: Set it Stone and Signet Mastery for Elementalists, they can keep the passive and use the active, which procs the passive again.

You still have not shown us how you came up with the previous numbers.

We all know signet traits are garbage. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great trait for SoR, but the other signets are awful. You sacrifice too much by going 30 in earth just to make SoR more effective because the other signets are not viable in pvp. How many signet elementalists do you see…? You would get more HPS going 30 in arcane than taking that trait…

No it does not. You don’t prove anything by throwing random numbers out there. Signet of restoration is 168 HPS. Cleansing wave is 1302/25 hps. Regen is 130 HPS with max uptime. Pulling numbers out of your kitten proves nothing. Saying eles have seven instant skills without showing those skills proves nothing.

Grandmaster Trait Idea: Adrenal Recovery

Depends. Warriors got a lot of sustain in lower placed traits and are therefore more open in terms of build diversity. Mesmer builds, for example, are quite fixed. A shatter basically needs to be 0/20/0/0/30, a condi needs that 30 in Chaos for PU etc.

PU is also very much the only sustain trait that is regularly taken by mesmers, the rest need to be -CD traits because of generally high cds (most likely a leftover from when IC was easier to achieve)

Apart from that, there already seem to be some grandmaster traits that are doing what you want to:

- Defy Pain: Granted, this only triggers every 60s, but you can’t deny that it’s quite powerful and often saves lifes when getting ambushed by someone.

- Inspiring Battle Standard: I once fought a condition warrior beneath his banner on my condi thief. I won, but the fight took forever and would be impossible to win without poison. That said, i could have leave the fight anytime if i wanted, since he didn’t seem to leave the healing area ^^

- Vigorous Shouts: Healing is obiously some kind of sustain ^^ That said, warrior shouts for themselves don’t do much in terms of sustain (that’s guardian terrain), so you most likely will prefer stances and signets, then.

I generally don’t see warriors getting protection since it’s more of a help for classes with lower armor/hp. I could imagine some defensive counterpart for Berserker’s Power, mitigating 3/6/9% damage, depending on the amount of adrenaline built, but i wouldn’t really want to see this while retaining warrior’s superior mobility.

Defy Pain is worthless against condition damage, not worth 30 points.

Inspiring Battle Standard is a joke, water fields are much better in terms of regeneration and a lot more mobile.

Vigorous Shouts is /ok/? However it is more of “support” not really a sustain trait.

But to get perma protection with a boon duration build, you would need to have weakness on you to convert into protection, everytime your traited warhorn skills are off cooldown.

umm.. Have any of you necro’s tried moving away from the condition build and building around wells and damage?

When I left 2 weeks ago that build was working fine in Spvp and WvW denying warriors the ability to sit in melee range with you.

On the other hand your squishy…but lets be honest…with all the -condi builds now floating around you’re almost useless anyway. . . .

Secondly, If you have a means to counter something yet you refuse to, you’re your own worst enemy and handicap. Any complaint you could have had becomes baseless.

Power-based builds are even worse than condition builds.
First, because power is mitigated by Armor and Warriors usually run with an hell lot of that.
Second, because power damage needs you to not to be stunned to deal damage, so while conditions still tick when you’re stunned, power damage does not.
Third, because if you are running well-heavy builds, you have less stunbreakers and you are way more squishy.

I personally love power Necro and I tend to play it when possible, but in the current Warrior meta, it is completely unviable.

It should replace Adrenal Health, then, and altered to roughly heal the same amount of hp/s. This would encourage warriors to spent their adrenaline instead of saving it.

Probably, but Warriors still need a Grandmaster sustain trait like the other classes receive.

this is only my second kill, but for what i heard on TS this must be a time kill record, we went straight from 2nd phase to 3rd while he was vulnerable/stunned, and than he died straight from the 25% without leaving that stunned phase as well

Make it soul reaping’s new ‘5’ point minor trait, and lower the stability to 1 or 2 seconds (I think 2 would be overpowered, 1 would be fine.). This would make it into a highly skilled trait to use to counter stuns.

This would make Gluttony the new Grandmaster Trait:

Gluttony
Increases Life Force gain of all skills by 100%.

(This would make way for Dagger/X spectral builds…)

30/0/30/0/10 + Knight’s Amulet is really funny, they are not expecting necromancers to do any power damage so they charge you going condition immune and getting melted.

When I had played last with a warrior in Spvp a friend of mine came in with his necro and did exactly that to me..

I couldn’t stay in melee range with him because of the damage the wells would do, on the other hand, he had death shroud up almost permanently so trying to range him was also not a great option.

His build was different from your’s though I think he was 30/10/0/0/30 with zerker’s gear..
He was squishy…but the damage made me cry inside a little bit. . . .

Being able to immobilize you into a damaging well that does 10k damage in spvp hurts.

Never said it was hard, any fool can get hit. The point is, you shouldn’t need to and the benefit from doing so is counter productive. Persistent & Stacking > Conditional & Not. That’s merely my argument.

Protection/Berserker Stance/Endure Pain all require you to be hit as well to be effective. :P

You and regenerate health over time. Cures a condition every second.
Health per second: 1612 (0.25)?
Duration: 5 s

(383 Hp/S) (Good heal for using, cures conditions over time.)


Healing Surge (30 second cooldown.)
Healing: 9,820 (1.50)?
Protection: 6 s
Regeneration: 6 s (780 health.)
Adrenaline: 30

(341 Hp/S) (Good burst heal, less HPS but offers some support for 6 seconds.)

I know we shouldn’t get protection, however there is almost no way to make this skill different from the other ones without giving it something unique, and the only thing I can think of is protection. Why use Surge over the other heals when it heals less? It needs something like Hide in Shadows cures conditions AND stealths, I want this to be a burst of help like that.

Deep Strike is a worthless trait, and needs adjusted. There is NO reason to take it when there is a fury buff right by it.

The trait does not even fit its name that well, Deep Strike doesn’t sound like it has anything to do with Rings.

Amazing? Last Time I checked, they had to waste a 20 points into a tier just to receive this benefit. The Warrior’s is only Adept and the more useful one of the two imo.

See, thats the thing about the 5 signet build, I was going to use them anyways? Deep Strikes or not, that would be my setup. I just find the trait a mere icing on the cake so to speak.

That ‘fury’ trait requires you to get hit. Something you should avoid doing to begin with. It only lasts for 10 seconds and it only stacks in duration with other fury. Meaning that 20% is all you are going to get. Where as activating SoR with Deep Strikes or any other source of Fury, I’m getting more. Not to mention the abysmal cooldown for it. (In regards to the fury aspect, the vigor isn’t bad) but for a whole 20 seconds, you have a worthless trait until cooldown all over again. This isn’t counting any actions that might cause you to waste that 10 seconds, such as using that vigor to actually get you out of a tough spot or healing if it was a heavy enough blow. In which case half of that trait has already been wasted.

Something that is persistent and can stack with other sources without a cooldown seems like a far greater benefit imo for what it’s purpose is for.

What makes it a good trait?

With 4 Signets (because I know you use SoR.) its only 160 precision, and that is using all 4 signets on your bar.

“Only” 160 precision? Ranger’s get a trait that gives the group roughly the equivalent, is that not a good trait? Why would they bother if 160 precision was so miniscule to people? Personally I find 160 to be quite a fair jump to be added.
I don’t have to worry about having to meet any condition requirements for me to keep it either. Nor have to make up for the loss precision through gear.

Also, imho the Signets are fine as they are. Healing Signet is already pretty awesome, Fury recently got a precision buff, the other seem a bit unnecessary or a bit over the top. Most notably the SoR one. I have the Sigil of Generosity on my Rifle, transferring conditions every 10 seconds is something I already do, and it is indeed very powerful and handy to have. But it’s quite out of place for the skill.

Signets aren’t for everyone, but I find it more of a ‘jack of all trades’ for the warrior. You usually aren’t left out of having anything and are always benefiting from them in some way.

Deep Strike used to be amazing for leveling and mentoring dungeons like AC, but worthless at high levels.

Heyho fellow WVW Warriors/ Hammer-Psychopaths,

I am currently tweaking my Hammer+Shout WVW Build

After seeing a youtube video of Ogremaster Thong about his build i came to the conclusion that I have to get new gear:

Currently I am running full soldier’s armor+ cavalier trinkents+Valkyrie’s Weapons and 50% on stunned foes

However in the vid Thong uses 3 celestial trinkets (2earring+1 ring) to support his shouter build

A Commander I have asked recently gave me the tip to have full soldier’s trinkets+armor and Berserker Weapons

And another Guide says that you need at least 30% crit and rest in soldier’s

SO: what is the best solution for non GvG Hammer WVW Warrior who loves to be part of public zerging?

No offense, but I don’t play scepter, nor do I follow the meta for my builds. Please don’t assume you know my tactics or what build I am running, as it makes your assertions skewed, and detract from the premise of the discussion. I’m trying to share constructive feedback, while not putting down other players in the process.

Part of this discussion is to determine if other members in the community are encountering unreasonable* difficulty when encountering class mechanics (which in this case, is the stun warrior). By “unreasonable difficulty”, I mean this as something which Anet should determine. Feedback from the player base will help them to understand this; whether it be by sharing our frustrations, observations, or successes.

As a 5 Signet warrior, I’d prefer if my build was left alone. I enjoy what Deep Strikes offers, even though I’m not exactly happy with the nerf personally.

It doesn’t have any conditions that need to be met besides the signets for it to remain in effect, can’t be removed/countered and it doesn’t destroy my traitline just to make up for a loss of critical chance.

Used to work well for my crit build before Heightened Focus got changed around and if that extra boost of power is required, SoR can easily put it up a bit more.

I still think its a good trait, even if its not a popular one.

What makes it a good trait?

This will not be a problem once Paralyzation doesn’t add an entire second to the stuns. Your QQ is somewhat justified now, but at the same time there are the following options:

dodging
kiting
stun breaks
ranged damage
blinking out of their LOS
stealth
your own CC
retreating
playing one so you know its weaknesses on your main
etc…

Mesmer does fine against Warrior 1v1

As a necro:

dodging – I do not have access to vigor
kiting – I’m a slow kitten necro with no mobility
stun breaks – Limited stun breaks
ranged damage – Can’t because I cannot kite nor does my ranged damage really do any damage vs a berz stance warrior
blinking out of their LOS – No mobility
stealth – What stealth?
your own CC – Cant because of berz stance or they have stability
retreating – No mobility to get out
playing one so you know its weaknesses on your main – I have one and I own necro so hard

I’m not a good player so any other tips on fighting a stun warrior as a necro would be greatly appreciated. Thanls.

As a necro player, I second this greatly. I have timed my dodges, and use every CC I have available. The problem is, the warrior has too great of a mobility with access to too many stuns for me to even be effective against them. Against decent stun warriors, yeah, I can kill them. But against a skilled stun warrior, it’s GG as there is nothing I can do to counter him (and I have timed my fear between their stability, and tried kiting with a 25% speed signet—they still catch up easily).

Some classes can deal with stun warriors more easily. The issue as a necro is, we are an easy target for them (and yes, I can drop a 5 sec stability with a 60 sec cd, which does little). I think the stun should be reviewed, because if I’m using all of my available resources and still getting stuck in massive stun locks, something is wrong.

For anyone that may think I need to learn to play, I’m ranked high on the solo leader board, and know my class mechanics extremely well as an MM. I’m not advocating for stun to be removed, just for it to be reviewed in light of the situation. I’m all for a class to be challenging, and love seeing warriors back as a competitor since their class revamping.

agree. i always play in groups with 1 mesmer, 3 warriors and 2 guardians. sometimes we even have 8 warriors in the group because warrior es #1 huehuehue.

You need Guardians moreso then Warriors because of spam-weakness.

If you’re getting “Block” when fighting a guardian whenever you try to use a powerful attack, he’s seriously outplaying you.

Try playing Dark Souls. Blocking is pretty easy.

Yeah totally necessary 500 hp/s from healing signet. Sounds reasonable. How about increasing the damage of Earthshaker, so i can finally crit people for 10k+? Those 7-8k crits are getting quite boring.

Seriously, every time I come to the warrior forum and see there is a new thread by Daecollo, I instantly cringe.

Its not that powerful. I don’t see why you have such a problem with it. The biggest problem is stuns and those are getting nerfed.

I’ve been ASKING FOR MORE HAIRSTYLES SINCE THE GAME STARTED.

Sylvari Skirts are still: Bugged, that is a little more then a backpack.

Charr is only 1 out of the 5 races and most of it is due to armor combinations.
