Read the first post, sniper rifle has 450-1950 Range, meaning unlike a normal rifle, you cannot shoot point blank, but you can shoot further, you give up mid range to gain longer range.

When your marketed, you automaticly have a target on your character and a red beam comes from the sniper as an animation, so you know your being targeted by one.

Whats stopping another thief from killing you, I could just roll for the blast, anyone with a brain can just roll for it, that is NOT a good way to deal damage.

The Vulnerability applies utility that some classes can do but others cannot, it offsets the damage lost.

Ah, yes, I intended it to only stealth if you hit but didn’t specifically state that. It won’t do anything if you miss except waste initiative.

um.. you might as well just play D/D, its basicly the same thing as D/D except range, which makes it stupid, because you basicly do the same thing you do as D/D, except you can do it from range and don’t have to worry about not being in melee range to hit.

With food/Mellandu Rune Bonus I can get -65% Condition Duration, it applies to the stealth debuff.

Cloak And Dagger ONLY stealths you if you hit the target if your attacking nothing it does not stealth you, therefore you cannot get perma stealth with it.

And even without it.. Oh YOU HAVE A 3 second window to kill me before I can get away!

How is that even fair?

Your idea is nice, but sorry that is way overpowered, due to traits I could press “4” and get 2 initative back/regeneration/100% critical chance and 5 seconds of STEALTH

With 30% BOON duration (Vitality Tree.), I could make that 7 seconds of stealth, that means every 7 seconds I lose 3 initative, THIS MEANS permament stealth.

Since “1” is free, I can constantly use “4” to go into stealth just to use 1, which means I can be up forever and stealthed forever.

AKA: Not Balanced, overpowered.


1 Stealth – Hidden Sniper – does slightly higher damage and bleeds, causes cripple if hit from the back or side, projectile combo finisher, 1400 range

You might as well just be a warrior or engineer.

Not really. I’ve combined some aspects of pistols with some aspects of the shortbow, and added a focus on flanking.

With “4” I could remain in stealth forever if I keep using it… due to traits.

So basicly you just press “4” and “1”… and get 3 initative CRITTING attacks and kite someone forever? AND 100% Perma Stealth?

How is this balanced?

Sorry, I play a high level warrior as well and with that build its not unique, I would rather just go warrior and have high built in critical chance and high rifle damage along with good survivability.

Then you might as well just be a warrior if you want a short ranged rifle, and engineers arn’t sneaky at all, they’re TOOL kit is all about turrets and blowing things up, Sniper Rifle FITs perfectly with thief.

Engineer – Shot Gun Rifle.
Warrior – Soldier with a Gun.
Thief – Sniper.

You could also have the attacks take away endurance, and do less damage the less endurance you have. (this would be balanced, because if someone found you and ran up to you, it would be harder to get away from them.)

The main things you have to fight with are retaliation and aegis… but a sniper type character would make WvWvW a bit more fun, because you become a threat as soon as your firing from a safe distance at targets.

Thats kind of the point, but I get it.

My point is, I was trying to make something unique and fun, if your going to make it just like a rifle, you might as well just go warrior, because they will have more survivability and more critical chance.

Perhaps lowering the range to 2000, and making the penalty for melee 500.

I mean, you have to stand still while using the weapon, the idea was to be a mobile ballista.

Also, you have to deal with retaliation, anyone good would just run up to you with reflects up and hit you with your own damage.

The problem with it, is you probably HAVE to spec for all damage to make it work, and that means.

10k Health, YOU ARE A GLASS CANNON, if someone gets up in your face your DEAD, you have to be smart and keep away from people, thats why a 1200 range DOES not work for thief like it does for warrior, they have armor and high criticals and critical damage and vulnerability just from traits.

You use initative before you fire, so if someone comes in melee range, you just wasted your initative on an attack, another thief with blink will ruin your day.

Depends on how you use it, you could be a trap sniper that sets up the area with traps so your hard to find.

Or you could apply poisons to your rifle so your shots do massive damage, since its slow attacks, your poisons/venom ticks longer.

The Spec would be great in WvWvW/PvE for taking out people with low health or downing people.

One-Trick pony does not mean one-dimensional, you also have to look at our traits and realize how well in syncs up with them.

The problem with switching weapons is, would your secondary weapon be a short bow so you can get away, since you obviously specced for it, you probably would not have that much defense or HP to survive a melee encounter.

The problem with the sniper, is you pretty much have to spec for
Power/Precision <— Otherwise it would not be worth using it at all, you would only have 10k HP using it, so when another thief comes by and back stabs you, your probably dead if you don’t run away… switching weapons would be a death sentence if your fighting a warrior or thief.

Want to cripple/immobilize, use poisons and traps, thats what they are for, adding it to the base attacks would make it overpowered, you can’t have the best of both worlds.

If another melee thief decides to attack you, you cannot do anything but run away since you don’t do any melee damage.

300-2500 Range, meaning YOU CANNOT do damage in melee.

If you want cripple, use traps… this would be AMAZING for traps, especially with the trait that applies 5 stacks of vulnerability when you apply traps.

Its one-dimensional because otherwise it would be overpowered, you have to understand how to balance it.

If a warrior gets up close to you, you can literally do nothing except run or switch weapons.

- long cast times.
- Aegis (because you only fire one shot per blast.)

Forest in the Mists - a dynamic world dungeon. (contested pve/pvp/rp)

This is based off a dream I had, it is basicly a fantasy horror/rpg/pvp for gw2.

This is a giant forest, there is no mini-map or map and you zone in with a party of 5, you start off in a small clearing with buildings and walls surrounding it, there you can buy “campfire” and “logs” and “food”, each is a low cost, it is literally a giant maze, and the forest changes every week to keep it that “fresh lost” feeling.

You must venture into the forest with your friends, who knows what awaits you into the forest.

Fog – there is a thick fog surrounding the forest, you cannot see very far in-front of you.

Beware the Night:
The Night/Day – During the Night you MUST stop and pitch camp, and defend yourselves! You are attacked all through the night until morning.

PvP:
When you encounter other groups in the forest, you may or may not attack them, depending on how you feel or what the situation is in, they are yellow to you and AOEs will not hit them unless directly targeted. (other players look like ghosts from the mists, adding a little lore to your party.)

Lost in the Mists:
If you do not prepare a camp fire at night, you are surrounded by fog and blinded until you are killed, however this still gives you time to pitch up a tent before your killed.

Death:
If your party dies and is unable to revive you, you are locked out of the mists for 24 hours, this is meant to be a dynamic survival map.

Rewards:
There are plenty of scary things in this forest… giant spiders and even randomly roaming bosses, they drop very unique loot, but beware it will not be easy to get.

Why the idea?
Simple, I think it would be fun, not only the storys such a place could create but the role play aspect of it, your fighting with your friends in an unknown place where anything could happen, so your constantly on your guard… who knows what wonders hide in this mystical forest?

There is no goal, there is no “place to control” and there is no rules, just explore and see whats to find…

Dragonbrand has been pretty much in map control for awile, You had 3 orbs of power yesterday while everyone had 0, I know that for a fact because I was playing yesterday.

I’m not sure if that was the case when you filmed it, but I will assume so since the enemies your fighting have 0.

I just don’t want a video showing how “Awesome” thief is when you have such a big advantage, especially if your in full exotic gear and 80 fighting lower levels.

I play a guardian and warrior as well, the advantages of switching weapons greatly exceeds the cost of initative, THERE ATTACKS do more then just damage, SWITCHING to a hammer, knocking them down and putting vuln on them, then switching to a greatsword and blinding them and burning ALL there attacks that do damage AND add conditions to you HURTS more then just spamming a damaging attack.

Have you not seen Guardians who switch weapons alot constantly lighting people on fire, this mechanic was not intended to be a way to force people to weapon switch to be the best, its an exploitive mechanic that needs fixed.

A thief cannot BLIND you and shove on 4-5 damage attacks, they have to pick and CHOOSE what they do wisely because they’re attacks that stack non-damaging conditions DO NOT do damage, meanwhile, a Warrior and Guardian can switch weapons and be best of both worlds, tell that to some classes like necromancer who pretty much is the same regardless, its poor class balance.

Exactly, you have to pick and choose what you want to use wisely, not just switch and keep button mashing away.

Currently because of the cooldown system and weapon switching, you can have best of both worlds.

Thief can only escape if they have enough initiative, meaning if they used it all killing you they probably won’t have that initiative.

Also, an elementalist can switch there stances and lightning away fast without any penalty because they don’t have to rely on a resource or a cool-down as long as they switch weapons, which is very unfair.

Using the method I said above, a warrior for example can just keep switching weapons and ignoring cooldowns since they are so short for them with no penalty at all.

Lemme explain, at the moment when you use a hammer and burn all its abilities, you can then switch to a greatsword and do the same thing, how is that fair to a profession like thief who cannot do such a thing, we have initiative and cannot switch weapons.

Please freeze the cooldowns of the weapon your not using until you switch back, this would still allow you to do the same, but you can’t just weapon switch to ignore cooldowns.

Descent of Shadows: This trait’s effect can now only trigger once every 8 seconds.

Looks like we are going to be nerfed every patch some how, but why was this even nessessary? Now it will be much harder getting around quickly but it won’t make a single difference in getting away, and people who were using it to get int back by moving around in a circle was kind of dumb anyways.

Can we please nerf everyones -50% falling damage traits to also be 8 seconds now?

((P.S. At this rate we can say we’ve been getting nerfed every patch!))

Can we please change it so the BLINDING POWDER portion of it has an 8 second cooldown, but you passively take -50% falling damage?

I have never run across a good looking dagger except the ones that are WAY to big to be considered daggers, or way too small to be considered them…

I cannot find a good dagger skin tbh, and the only one I find that I like is one from hall of monuments which I cannot get.

So basicly, as a rotation…

3 = Ravage the target, turning him around and stabbing him, immediately after “5” for cloak and dagger and then 1 for back stab.

If you just spammed Ravage, you would do less damage each time you did it, because the secondary attack of ravage only damages the target if your behind it, but it flips the target around whatever hes facing, but this attack does ALOT of damage if executed correctly.

Not to be a wet noodle, but S/P is Direct Damage, S/D should be a mix between Condition/Direct Damage, a little between both worlds since it lacks tools.

Maybe a powerful strike that DOES direct damage, then flips the target around and stabs him in the back for bleeding damage.

((Basicly, you slash him with your sword, turning him around, then stab, if your target is already turned around it will face him infront of you, so you have to be careful how you use it, if you SPAM it it will just flip the target around multiple times and you won’t get a bleeding effect unless your flanking the target.))
