Speed Buffs don’t stack.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
My Suggestion? give them a trait or ability that gives either…
30s of Vigor to all allys.
30s of Swiftness to all allys.
With a 60s CD, that can be traited to make it 48 seconds.
This way with +% Buffs you can almost get permament Swiftness or Vigor to the group, this would make Rangers Valuable in Dungeons and in PVP as well.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
- Allow Pistol Whip to be used while moving, but slightly snare you instead.
(Reason: It does not do as much damage, we are a mobility class and every mobility class should have any ability to be used while moving.)
- Remove the Internal CD on the Falling Damage Trait.
(Reason: No longer able to stack stealth above a minute, it was reduced to 10 seconds this patch.)
- Upgrade the Damage of Unload, or add a bleeding statistic to it.
(Reason: Unload Damage, very very weak, an it does not mesh well with pistols ‘1’)
(Honestly, I would like it if it worked both ways, so Unload would be Direct Damage Crit/Body Shot would be Poison/Condition.)
- Change Body Shot to Inflict Poison instead of Vulnerability.
(Reason: Low Damage, very very weak, an it does not mesh well with pistols ‘1’)
(This also allows the trait in the power tree to be a bit better, making pistols a bit stronger.)
- Ricochet (trait)
(Pistols have a 15% Chance to bounce and set targets ablaze.)
- Vitality Tree: Gain Swiftness When Roll.
(Change to Vigor, that way we get 1-2s of endurance regeneration, we really don’t need swiftness due to Signet of Shadows.)

I’m all for nerfing thieves damage.
Hopefully your up for the repercussions of this, which means… more group utility.
AOE Perma Swiftness/Vigor is something we need for allies in a build.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Mesmers grant allies AOE Quickness/Healing/Enemy Debuffs.
Elementalists grant allies Protection/AOE Healing/More AOE/Healing/Buffs/Regeneration/Swiftness
Guardians grant allies Protection/AOE Healing/Regeneration/Aegis/Shielding
Warriors grant allies Regeneration AOE/Shout Healing/Shout Buffs/Stat Buffs/AOE Critical Chance/Vulnerability on Enemies/swiftness.
Engineers grant allies regeneration/turret cover/healing/condition removal/buffs/protection/swiftness.
Necromancers grant allies regeneration/pulls boons off them, and debuffs the enemies.
Rangers…. are rangers and are very special.
Thiefs do damage, run away, thats all they really do, AOE Venoms are kind of worthless due to them not stacking and only being applied to 5 targets max, Stealth Regeneration is pointless due to the stealth break on damage, retaliation can also break this.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Good.
Now, what do thieves do for other allies?
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
What are thieves strengths?
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Alot of things could use a nerf, but thief is hardly hard to beat once you can predict and learn how it works, otherwise your just going to have problems.
This isn’t like bright wizards who can kill you from far away and your unable to do anything.
This isn’t like rogues in wow who could permastun you and kill you.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Thieves have 10k HP actually.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Theres an ability like this in the game already, if you ever played to save one of the girls its a field that everything inside the field is slowed.
Your movement speed is slowed by 50%, Projectiles are Slowed by 50%, Abilities/Endurance slow down as well in the field….
It would be a bubble that lasts a full minute, the bubble would be pretty big too.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Places a bomb in the players inventory, if the player does not delete the bomb, it blows up.
Funny idea for an ability eh? :p
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
I wish you could use Shields in your Main Hand.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Yeah, but it would be funner if we did “Best thief in the world vs newb thief who uses rabid set.”

I’m sorry, the game or this guide wasn’t made to suit your disabilities… :/

Maybe I could meet you guys in SPVP, group with you and show you what I can do, talking on the forums seems to proove nothing.

At 10k hps fall over in a few Aoes is what I imagine you’ll do.
You greatly underestimate the toughness stat.

Would you like to group with me and see what I can do?

Daecollo, these tips sound like they’re coming from somebody who hasn’t really played any other classes other than the Thief class.
I’ve played Necromancer, Thief, and Warrior up to 80.
If I spread classes too much then I don’t know if I could play them as well.
When I SPVP, I actually do use Rabid Set, with a mix of condition damage, I’ve used backstab before, but I like having more toughness and less HP.
Improbable yes, Impossible No.

Since the thread has been placed in the sPvP forum, it’s reasonable to assume that it’s sPvP oriented, and therefore, what thieves have or don’t have access to outside of sPvP is irrelevant to the context of the discussion.
This is assuming your thief is taking a set that has vitality on it, or uses vitality.
There are very effective condition thief builds.

Daecollo: i don’t understand: lvl 80 in the MISTS, with PVP equip.
which PVP amulet do you use to have 10.8k hp? amulet means amulet+jewel.
the most burst damage amulet in mists is berserk berserf afaik. it gives you that 2.2k hp to go to 14095 hp. which is the BASE stat of every glass cannon thief .explain pls
Thieves in SPVP and Thieves outside SPVP are a bit different, I was explaining that outside SPVP Thieves only have a base of 10k HP, he said “His Thief” assuming he had a level 80 thief and not a level 1 he plays for SPVP has a base of 14k HP, I showed him he was wrong.
Rabid Set is a pretty good set actually, but not for the common thief.

Let me get a screenshot for you sir.
http://imageshack.us/a/img442/4864/gw074b.jpg10805 HP Base, without vitality.
Are you sure you play a thief?
which amulet do you use to have 10k hp. with berserk berserk you must have 14k hp due to 23* vitality berserk gives.
This isn’t the base HP they start with, they need vitality to get that much health, berserkers only makes it 13kish, and the berserkers set out of SPvP does not give any vitality at all.

Thieves have 10k HPS, not 14k HPS, to get 14k HPS they need Vitality, which means less damage for thief.
Thieves “Backstab” combo to get it +150% damage is also on a long one minute timer, so is steal, and they must use both at once to take you out.
Most Stun breakers are on a 30-45 second cooldown.

(edited by Daecollo.9578)
1. Get Toughness or Vitality Gear. (This is the single most important step, without health or armor you will melt, this is pretty much 101 against all classes.)
2. Use Dodge/Stun Breaker: Trait for them, there are many classes who have “When you take more then 20% of damage——” Or “When you go below 25% health..” abuse these traits, use your dodge when you think about it.
3. Shut up and listen: All thieves abilities have a unique sound, most of the time you can guess what thieves do or are going to jump you JUST by listening to the sound of there abilities, many people have the sound option off and don’t realize this little secret, this is why most thief veterans have no problem taking down other thieves, I KNOW when your going to steal me… (Can you believe most self-claimed “Elite” players play with there sound off? LOL!)
4. Be Aggressive: sees thief… HES KILLING HER.. THEN HES GONNA KILL ME… OH MY GOOOOOOD…. Thieves have the hardest time out of any class finishing off an opponent, especially backstab thieves due to low hitpoints, low armor, and little endurance regeneration, if you see a friend downed by a thief, immediately rush to that person and autoattack the air, watch your combat log for hits.
5. AOE the ground under your feet: Thieves MUST be in melee range to hurt you effectively, no matter what skill they have, pistol/pistol is worthless, if you successfully counter a thief, Immediately run around in circles and AOE the ground under your feet, this is the WORST possible thing you can do to a thief, almost all of our abilities require flanking.
6. Attack the Air: Most players stand around when they see me go invisible, ATTACK THE AIR, I’M USUALLY behind your back, Turn around and keep swinging, even if you don’t think your hitting me, I die in 2-3 autoattacks.
7. Drop that great sword and use weapons thieves are not familiar with: Part of a thieves life is learning what sounds weapons makes when they attack us and what animations they have, this is because a thief in “pve” dies if we don’t time our dodges properly, this may make us a bit more powerful then other classes just mindset wise because we “must” learn to dodge properly at level 5, whilst other classes don’t really have to learn to dodge at all until level 80, thieves must learn the animations/sounds of attacks/and weapon choices of every class he fights against to properly counter it, this means we have almost no idea how to counter “The Odd Balls” Yes, i’m looking at you Axe/Mace Warrior…

Have you ever tried placing AOEs under your feet when the thief is invisible, the thief is a melee class therefore he has to be in melee range to hurt you, so in stealth thieves are usually in AOE range of your character.
When I played a necromancer, I killed thieves by simply placing all my AOEs under myself when I heard there was a thief nearby, I play a thief as well up to 80 so I know all the noises of almost every attack he makes, so I can hear him way before I see him.

https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
Steal has a 900 meter range.

Thieves have 10k base health, glass cannon thieves don’t get vitality nore do they get toughness.
2-3 autoattacks of a greatsword will kill them.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
To be honest, you wouldn’t have to change achievements around at all (I don’t think…) and toughness and healing both need improved slightly some how.
+ Healing needs to be five times what it is now.
+ Toughness needs to additional grant critical damage reduction.

The pets when the necromancer is at low health should move infront of there master and try to absorb any attacks they can.
https://twitter.com/TalathionEQ2
If hit by an aoe attack, the pet will instantly dodge.
If in the circle of an aoe attack, the pet will dodge 2 seconds after.
If under 50% health, pet will dodge.
If under 25% health, pet will dodge.
If the master is over 50% health.
1. Player with Lowest HP.
2. Player with Mid HP.
3. Player with Max HP.
4. NPC with Lowest HP.
5. NPC with Mid HP.
6. NPC with Max HP.
7. Structure with Lowest HP.
8. Structurewith Mid HP.
9. Structure with Max HP.
- Lose aggro off any current target.
If the master is under 50% health.
1. Attack the Player with Lowest HP nearest to master.
2. Attack the Player with Mid HP nearest to master.
3. Attack the Player with Max HP nearest to master.
4. Attack the NPC with Lowest HP nearest to master.
5. Attack the NPC with Mid HP nearest to master.
6. Attack the NPC with Max HP nearest to master.
7. Attack the Structure with Lowest HP nearest to master.
8. Attack the Structure with Mid HP nearest to master.
9. Attack the Structure with Max HP nearest to master.
This would fix many problems with necromancer.

Before the weekly battles start, players should beable to bid and gamble for winners, each time they gamble they put in a bit of money and get money back for each servers winner, that means they have a 33% chance to win lots of money, but they can also bid for there own server.

This makes thieves better, but makes precasting it with steal impossible, it also makes the animation a bit better as well.
Also increase the range to 200 instead of 130, it seems to be a bugged range atm so the only way to make sure you hit is precasting it with steal.

Yes, but if you wait and wait, you can blow someone up by pressing that ability and timing another one so the damage happens all at once making insane burst.

As long as you do it to everyone elses skills, i’m fine with it, because I can do the same thing as a mesmer, each mantra should add a 1.5 second global for every skill he has.
Each Engineer kit has a GCD (thats 4 abilities as well…)
If you nerf one class, you have to nerf all of them.

Hitting the ground with your sword, you create a trail that hits the target, then the air pops out of the ground and hits the target again.. something different…
Just seems a little Jedi to throw your giant sword and have it come back.. lol.
Or.. swing your swing to the side shooting a trail of kenetic energy that comes back to your sword’s blade.

For the Future stories of gw2, could we possibly have more emotions show, maybe even characters singing in some scenes (make it pretty epic like dragon age 1 :P)
We need alot more emotion, and even some turn arounds for the first story, we could use more charismatic characters as well.
