you know the farmers are normal players, and not to mention since its about impossible to get the ember farm up which is what im assuming your implying at. none of this is happening.

right now the only viable farm is in frostgorge and none of those events are purposely failed, infact the champ farm makes it safer for everybody.

don’t forget it actually heals to, if your playing a guardian dps should never be your main concern because lets be honest every other class who’s skills don’t deal with healing/boosting or damage migation. are going to be doing way more damage than you.

and not to mention a zerker player who doesn’t have to use his heal skill is a zerker doing more damage.

you’re having latency/lag issues its where even though on your screen you cleared the jump on the games screen you continued to run and fell off into the spikes, and then that catches up to you and that causes the tree air death.

it does it a lot to me on w1 z3, with a jump pad over water, where i’ll just die mid air

again trail and error games are never hard, their just annoying.

you can honestly run normal and trib mode world completion completely with less than a 10 minute difference once you know what to do.
and that was before the patch, its not a nerf since they just fixed normal mode and buffed a bunch of mobs to give baubles

Why nobody nerfed Liadri with 8 orbs? It was super challenging adventure too. But now you reduce difficulty in SAB, which is a way easier than “Light Up the Darkness”. Also, there’re a few ways to complete difficult SAB moments, but now people don’t need to even explore them…

because the 8 orb liadri wasn’t supposed to be hard mode, all the 8 orb did was make you stay in there until you hit her for 8 orbs, the only challenge she actually presented was her poor design.

and not to mention liadri wasn’t even part of the main thing, the queens jubilee was.

you just need to have some cake

the infinite continue coin will work in the future SAB content, aside from the huge time saver that it is, it’s also a gigantic stress reliever when your going for hard mode since it doesn’t matter if you die over and over and over again you never run out of lives.

the enemys can hit you by running into you its super kittening annoying, but probably won’t be fixed your best bet is to buy a whip and stun them and hit them with the stick.

just wait till you get to the bears that lay down aoe fields everywhere that last for hours that also can hit you by running into to you and takes like 6 hits

you know the funny thing is by working to destroy the farm you’re destroying the only actual reason to be in orr.
you’re doing more harm than good by hurting a farm.
because guess what when theres a good farm in orr theres actual people in orr.

and the one thing i noticed is that those annoying skill points are a lot easier to get since the champs guarding them get zerged down, the entire zone is alot safer since a lot of the zones champions are dead.
and not to mention the temple events get finished a lot more, because if you call out you need more people for temple events more often that not you’re gonna get people to come since they’re bored of farming.

but as soon as you kill the farm you kill the only chance orr has,……again.

to be fair the jormag event takes an hour for 1 rare and a bunch of junk gear.
and grenth needs a lot of coordination to keep some glass npc alive.

while farming champions will literally give 100x more money, and lets face it precursors and other drops are the same from the trash mobs they kill while farming champs

just have him be at the other end of the arena when you spawn with the deadshot skill already 99% charged, when you’ve already beaten him once.

then claim the fight was to easy so the fight had to be changed to make it more “skilled”

how did he one shot you? he doesn’t do that much damage, especially since he’ll drop down and use that fire shield first.
you could just ask for a thief to help you and drop a shadow refuge, the champion will still teleport there while your stealthed but he won’t hit you.

maybe you should run a more defense oriented build if you’re trying for no deaths.

you know the waypoint to arah is never contested and neither is the dungeon itself, either go on a server that has melandru at least and lyssa done and you can get to arah easily just get some stun breakers a bunch of movement skills and stability and the run to arah gate is a cake walk.

there are very few actual skilled players wanting to do content because its challenging, and not because they feel entitled for a reward to shove in the face of others.

I dunno, a lot of people that I know who did Light Up The Darkness did it to challenge themselves (and complete all the LS achievements), not because they wanted to brag about it.

orly because a lot of them have been bragging about it on the forums.
out of those “a lot of people” theres a lot more who’s stuck on liadri herself or have just done the 11 achievements for the exotic bag of coins.

but the fights aren’t skillful when they can be farmed with all 5 gambits because you have 0 defense and all power. these skilled fights shouldn’t have been trivialized by the oh so popular zerk build

I hear that word more on these forums than anywhere else. As if it’s a crime to actually BE GOOD at video games and desire challenges that require you to BE GOOD too complete them.

For the record, I like the Liandri fight. I feel that the mechanics being essentially oneshot was a bit heavy handed (fight could have still been plenty challenging if they were all 2-shots) I felt that the timers were unecessary added difficulty. I felt that anet needs to take even more notes on how hard it is to see r5ed circles on certain types of floors. I feel that once again the camera is proving a hindrance rather than a help in tight spaces.

It was not without its problems, but it WAS fun for me, and it was fun for a lot of other people. GW2 does a very good job of catering to social and low-twitch players, but is still pretty far behind on the “stuff you should actually get a title for” fare.

The game needs more hard stuff, and this was pretty hard, Felt good to finish it and I’m pretty proud of my new mini.

fyi you don’t have to be any good to be an elitists, just look at Cof p1 for example the zerk builds.
it doesn’t take skill to press 3 buttons then press 2 to win and nuke liadri down in 10 seconds.
heads up out dpsing a monster isn’t a skillful strategy its just the best in this game due to design.

the only skill you need in that fight is learning what to do with the light circles which doesn’t matter in the second phase, moving out the Aoe circles since a-net thought murdering you was better than just punishing you. and kiting, i shouldn’t even list kiting because if you got to 80 to do this fight you should know how to kite.

there needs to be perma death, would punish the impatient and the zerk builds.
would also have the side effect of killing the game.

but the impatience comes from a-net and obliterating farms, since people have to do more than press 1 on a guardian staff, even if they still don’t have to do much. they still don’t wanna wait on people to start a farm.

but the real problem is the elitism that was born of the cof p1 runs.
a-net needs to work on snuffing that out.

a-net has stopped the notion of working together, when they destroyed farms because they want you to buy gems.

if a-net wants to make actually challenging bosses without broken mechanics then fine, but don’t tie anything to the boss monster, no mini, no achievement points, no treasure.
the only reason the boss even exists is so those “skilled” players can have something “hard” to kill. and nothing else.
the “skilled” are still entitled because they want something to go behind the challenging boss so they can have something to push in the face of others, instead of just the self satisfaction of showing off to your friends as they watch as you killed the boss or just the satisfaction that you could do it.

What a great idea! However, let’s remove all rewards from GW2, that way everyone gets the chance to do whatever content they want just for fun!

well if everybody can do it that means more people will enjoy the content i.e. more people staying = more money for a-net.
sure some elitist kittens will leave and find “challenging” games, but the gain will be much more than the lose.

so instead of grinding for some stupid mini they can play and enjoy the content.

There’s plenty of content for “everybody” to enjoy. You call the mini “stupid,” but your post calling for rewards to be removed from hard content, specifically Liadri, betrays what you really think.

you know what you used to do? you used to handicap yourself on games for a challenge, you didn’t get achievements, you didn’t get rewards, all you got was satisfaction.
would i do the queen’s gauntlet if nothing was tied to it? maybe a little just to try, i killed most bosses in 1 or 2 tries just had to change things around.
would i have tried to beat liadri if nothing was tied to her? hell no, that boss is broken and rage inducing and requires a lot more luck than actual skill.

but you did hard content cuz you found it fun, and not for something to shove in the face of others, because you run some zerk build and can nuke these regular mob enemys down in 10 seconds.

Please re-read the title of this thread.

Luck does not equal skill. Skill does not equal luck. This fight requires SKILL. Is it luck that I’m able to dodge the 1-hit AOE that comes crashing down on my head? No. There’s a timer for each and every one. Learn the timing, and roll out of the way.

Also, killing orbs isn’t luck based either. If you’re trying to Range projectile it, you will fail. Run up and melee it with 1 strike. Done.

this fight requires very little skill and a lot of luck, is it luck that you can double tap W? no! is it luck that her 1 hit aoe is de synced and lagged so the animation is 2 seconds behind the actual attack? by your definition no.
is it luck that the orbs just happen to spawn right beside you? by your definition no.
is it luck that her insta kill adds spawn out of your line of sight because your camera is in your stomach, and you get killed? by your definition no.
is it luck that the light circles just happen to spawn in the right places the entire fight doing add control so you don’t have to? by your definition no.
is it luck that literally all of the second phase she’s always behind the instakill adds? by your definition no.
is it luck that you just happen to have an orb spawn when your out of endurance and it saves you? by your definition no.
is it luck that, that same orb has a “obstructed” when you use your downed attack on it and you die because of some broken mechanic? thats not technically luck.

just because you got lucky and don’t know it, doesn’t mean this fight doesn’t require a stupid amount of luck.
the only thing to learn on this fight is what to do with the light circles and to move from the aoe circles.

RNG or random number generator is literally just another term for luck,
if something requires a number 3 in the random number generator to get it, then guess what. you better be lucky enough for the generator to pick 3.

if you think RNG does not mean luck then you really need to do some research, RNG is just internet speak for luck since you are on a computer and when getting things that dont always drop on a computer generated game, its going to rely on a RNG.

that would literally kill a part of what made Gw2 stand out from the rest of the MMORPGS. if that happened then it wouldn’t be people yelling at you for ruining their farming spot, it be people yelling at you for just being there.

apparently since my last thread got destroyed while i was away this is a re upload.
trolls aside these are still very good ways this fight can easily be improved. and have a better design. while still be challenging in a good way.

i do not get why everybody says liadri is “challenging” shes not she’s just stupid annoying hard, and almost the worst designed boss ever.
but she can be easily reworked to where people are punished and not murdered if they lag, make a mistake, or are colorblind.

1. the 1 shot kill aoe cone, take one of the 0’s off the 100k hits, that way it won’t kill everybody but only the zerkiest of the zerk.

2. the same 1 shot aoe, change the attack to shoot upwards instead of crashing down on the player this will make it easier for everybody to see the attack since a cone of black blobs will appear at their feat instead of hard to see red circles.

3. the the 1 shot adds who’s damage doesn’t show up in the combat log, change them to a stun or daze when they hit you with the same damage as her auto attack, and when they do they destroy the light crystal if you’re carrying it, maybe give a random condition like weakness, or vulnerability.

4. make the arena bigger, or open it up, there’s plenty of space up their for those domes to extend in size.

5. that blinding blur….take it out and make it a gambit, its stupid to be instagibbed because you’re blinded, if you really wanna make the fight harder than it already is just add in random condition blinds that won’t hide her attacks.

6. the light crystals, change them to orbs like many of the previous fights before her, so you can grab them on the go and not have to stop to pickup and throw, god forbid if you have 2 or more.

7. make it so the crystals last for more than 20 seconds, or don’t disappear in your hands.

8. instanced, instanced, instanced. nothing makes a rage inducing fight worse than culling and lag because there’s a gigantic farm right below in rendering distance.

9. make it so she’s not such a mad brah when you break her EZ mode shield, or slow down the add spawn rate in the second phase.

10. have the cone of 1 shot death go around in a preset pattern and not randomly going after you or not going after you, and have them change directions every time you hit her with a light crystal.

11. up the time limit to at least 5 minutes or higher than what it already is.

12. make it so in the second phase the 2 cones of 1 shot can’t hit you if you stand in the middle where she was, but don’t put it in the patch notes if you do, and put stability on her if you think people can abuse that and stunlock her to death. or have it so her adds go to her in the second phase and reward boons and in return their weaker. or add a dark circle there that puts vulnerability or random conditions on you if you stand in it to long.

13. make it so every form of damage mitigation works instead of only blocks.
all of these suggestions don’t have to all be implemented but at least some of them will drop the poor design and add to the fight as actually being challenging.

14. fix the orb so it is actually in the right place so ranged attacks can hit it.

all of these suggestions don’t have to be implemented, but each and every one will improve the quality of this fight to make it a better more fun fight, while still being challenging.
and not just rage inducing since it will take out a lot of the luck factor and replace it with skill.

Again… just because you can’t do something, doesn’t mean it’s broken. Learn the mechanics to the boss. If you want to zerg her, you can, but it doesn’t guarantee a win.

If you stand on a red circle, I won’t say you’re unlucky. I would say “dodge out of it”. But, I’ll give you something. It would be very lucky if you were to beat her using failed tactics.

and just because you get lucky doesn’t mean it isn’t broken or flawed, learning the mechanics to a broken boss isn’t gonna change the luck factor it still depends on.

i know how to do her iv’e blown 50+ tickets trying to kill her and failing due to lagging, de syncing, very poor visuals, troll pulls, getting instakilled by an add i can’t see, getting blinded.
dodges not even working, running out of time, getting spam crippled, having 5+ adds i cant kill take up a safe spot on the second phase, the pattern screwing up, getting blown up by the adds, getting killed when they hit the portal, and 1 case of alt tabbed when it was my turn.
and not to mention running out of dodges.
or getting hit on the outside of the aoe circles because they display the wrong thing.
many numerous cases of me running straight through the adds, and more so of them barely getting near me and dieing, her being at .1% and getting killed because of bad aoe markers, or just having a heart attack.
not to mention the glitched gambits and bosses that get dragged in with you.

i’m going to use dark souls as a comparison since its literally a perfect example, if you go into that game new and inexperienced you are going to die, die, die, die, die, RAGE, die, RAGE, die, SUPER RAGE, destroy something. you then look up what to do you come back and succeed somewhat but still die, but you make it farther and farther until you get to the boss.
where you die, die, die, die, die, die RAGE, die, RAGE, die RAGE, die SUPER RAGE, stop playing before you break something else, look up how to beat the boss.
find out you can get good and beat it the old fashioned way, get it to jump off the plateform, or cheeze the fight with an exploit or certain build.

its challenging but exploitable so EVERYONE can enjoy it, and not have it RNG gated.

this fight should literally be the same way where if you don’t know what to do you are going to die, waypoint, repair, runback over, and over, and over. or you can be smart and look up how to beat her, much like dark souls.
its still gonna be challenging but at least people will know what to do.
and not have to go VIGOR, VIGOR, MOAR kittenING VIGOR!!!!!!!!!

Yes but there’s 1 HUGE difference.

Dark Souls had brilliant and tight controls, GW2 has very clumsy controls.

If people have a hard time beating her, try war with healing signet and rifle + melee/shield. [endure pain][stamina regen signet][shake it off]. full berserk.

dark souls is pretty clumsy, if liadri was in dark souls like she is now that boss fight would be kitten near impossible.
im using dark souls because its literally the perfect base for a challenging boss with good design so EVERYBODY i repeat EVERYBODY can enjoy it, thats why it does so well.
having skill gated content that relies heavily on luck and how much the gods of tyria love you is bad. especially with the only known somewhat exploit is to nuke her kitten in the transition phase.
im only suggesting changes that will allow everybody to enjoy the 20 points and that mini that will most likely go in the bank after the first 30 seconds.
why do you think dark souls bosses are so well made? because its doesn’t rely on luck but instead skill and exploitable if you don’t possess the skill at that time.

hell the megadestroyer is a better boss than liadri even if his only attacks are a auto attack, a crabling summons, and a easily seen strong attack that doesn’t insta down you (if you arent zerk).
is it challenging at first? yes. do you learn the ins and outs? hopefully. does it become easier? yes.
liadri does not do this since it heavily depends on luck, or is wasting tickets due to culling, de syncing, lag, poor visual cues, being instadowned by a add out of sight, being troll pulled into the aoe by that orb you had no possible way of seeing let alone going to hit since it cant be ranged. skill now?

because if it is i suggest you expand your horizon to other games that actually have well designed bosses.
that doesn’t run down to, zerker, and a mesmer, and you didnt do enough damage? = auto kick.

i’m going to use dark souls as a comparison since its literally a perfect example, if you go into that game new and inexperienced you are going to die, die, die, die, die, RAGE, die, RAGE, die, SUPER RAGE, destroy something.

Are you seriously comparing Dark Souls with GW2? In Dark Souls, every boss has a very different AI mechanics and beating the boss actually feels like an accomplishment. In GW2 I have dungeon master and fractals level 20 and never felt accomplished beating a boss. Why? because what matters in GW2 boss fight: dodge AoE, dps spam the boss’s large health pool, don’t get downed, and done, move on.

In Dark Souls, no boss can one shot you if you are in the right gear and have balanced your stats correctly. On the other hand in GW2, it doesn’t matter if you are a tank lvl 80 guardian with exotic/ascended gear and all the traits set right or if you are a level 10 in fine/blue armor. You still get one shot. You might as well fight naked.

Also in Dark Souls NG+ or higher, every boss’s health is balanced. You can actually one shot the boss with the buffs. Is this possible in GW2? No? Because GW2 boss fight is is not about challenge. It is about spam/grind mechanics.

Here is the video of one shotting one of the hardest bosses in Dark Souls. So please don’t compare Dark Souls with GW2 PvE. GW2 PvE is a joke to any other game.

im comparing it to dark souls because A-net is trying to make dark souls quality bosses and failing hard, they wanna make skill gated content for a very small minority to lazy to look for a challenge or go to somewhere else for a challenge.

What I saw in that video was a warrior killing her in the 2nd phase, not bursting her down before the 2nd phase.

the second phase has about 5 ish seconds before it spawns and does anything, he killed her in the transition before she could do anything.

everybody that beat it: content is fine L2p a broken boss
everybody who hasn’t: poor design.
if you sooooo desperate for a challenge there are plenty of other cheap games, but A-net is a business company wanting to make money, they still have to compete with every other MMORPG, and making skill gated content is stupid for drawing customers in.

Do you want GW2 to never have any content that’s more difficult than reading a book?

have you never searched for content more difficult than reading a book? cuz its there, you can solo dungeons you can solo plenty of bosses.
so you want A-net to hand out broken bosses because you’re to lazy to look?
