1. What TS does the overflow server use?

2. Why is it set up so that the way to defeat Teq (so far once) is to exclude others by not leaving the map and forcing them to the overlfow server?

Once an overflow server can beat Teq I’ll change my opinion on this.

Refer to point 4.

When the Karka Queen event pops on my overlay, it says watch out for overflow. That’s one event that died quickly but when it pops, people still jump to it. The same will happen with Teq.

thats impossible because karka queen never pops due to literally 0 people being on southsun, and not to mention karka queen doesn’t take 100+ people on Ts or Rc to kill it.
if you had 100+ people at karka queen it’s gonna die anyways. because you have 100+ people.

they should also give you the same buff if you fail the event and everybody who participated in it gets teleported to a jail area for 2 hours, and its account bound so you will always be teleported there.

The fact here is that people are mad that they can’t beat the new Tequatl. This is Elite level content. Players who understand the game mechanics, and thus USE the mechanics to beat a hard boss, are clearly in the Elite league. Meteor Shower, Ice Bow, Banner Rez, piloting turrets, etc.

Wow, just, wow. I’m almost speechless. THIS is the Elite level content people wanted? This is what people have to do to become elite? I’ve always though Player skill was the way to become elite, but I guess I just have to guest to BG/TC and sit in overflow for 8 hours till someone DCs to become Elite. Sounds fun?

Although I don’t disagree that the people on the turrets during the winning Teq fights are better than the rest of the zergball, but honestly that’s not that hard.

It is fun when you use your skills to beat a hard boss. Soon, all World Bosses will be like Tequatl.

you may have some large guild organize a event to kill it, but is it really worth it? to create content thats only done by large guilds for kittens and giggles?

This is only one single event in the Open World. Shadow Behemoth is easy. Fire Ele is still doable. Putting something hard in a tiny area of the World Map, and the game becomes meaningless? There will be those who ignore the hard/challenging/elite content, and there will be those who seek it out.

Still didn’t answer my question.

Which question? Why certain people can’t beat it? Or why Anet updated Tequatl to be much harder?

you do know that every other world boss just got a damage and health buff with a timer, they didn’t actually get reworked like teq.
these world bosses can be easily ignored, and they will be if all of them are reworked. it won’t make the whole game meaningless but it’ll make the bosses anet worked so kitten, meaningless when nobody cares to do it.

and i’d love to see you try and solo world bosses in 15 minutes because its finally suitable for you and you alone while not for the rest of the game.
its great design to focus on a extremely small majority that refuses to look for challenging content themselves and just have it ignored by the majority because its not worth the time.

remember this is open world not instanced. if they included some afk timer that was lower than 30 minutes then it would go everywhere in the game.

the afk timer in wvw is 30 minutes just like the rest of the pve game.

just a fyi. or do you wanna make it super annoying like in the sanctum sprint that tries to kick you out if your not moving in 10 seconds.
because i can promise you people won’t do it just for the fact they have a move or get kicked message pop up in their face every 10 seconds.

wish i could get on a turret, but every time people are just sitting on the turret for 2+ hours until he spawns and the only thing that gets them off are the poison fields they don’t bother cleansing.

and of course people rez them and they go back to hogging the turret and not letting everybody else use them.

Tequatl and all of his boss-brethren needed an update badly.
Standing around spamming 1 was terrible design.
I love his new mechanics. Jumping the waves is amazingly fun. The turrets being essential is great. Requiring players to both attack and defend is fantastic.

That said, this is too hard for open-world content. Even if this was Zhaitan himself, no open-world content should be designed that a ‘regular’ group of players can’t complete it given some effort. That means that Tequatl should be able to be beaten by a group of 30~ lvl 65~ players in green~ lvl 65~ gear.

This dragon as is would be amazing in an instance. He puts Zhaitan to shame.
However in the open world, it just doesn’t fit the game that ArenaNet said they were making, and even as a player who enjoys challenging content (SAB Trib Mode, Liadri <3), I doubt I’ll continue to pursue this as-is.

If it would only take 30 people to kill Teq, then it’s no longer an Elite Boss fight. At that point, you just made “Easy Mode” Tequatl. You might as well ask for the old Teq back, where you just stand under him and spam “1”.

let me get this straight if you have 30 people working together to kill a boss, its no longer elite content? but trying to get 100+ random people to work together and its now elite content? if you mean a elite pain in the kitten sure, but its not an elite challenge. just an elite annoyance.

so by your logic having to get more people to make it more elite is good content, then by that same logic all dungeons are noob content since they only require 5 people, and the queens gauntlet is baby mode content since it only requires 1 person.

theres 1 problem with your theory Gw2 doesn’t have enough elitist to fund the numbers to kill tequatl if none of the “baddies” bothered which they honestly shouldn’t since its crap reward to begin with compared to what you have to do to complete it.
if tequatl stays the way he is then its just gonna be karka queen 2.0, but instead of having an entire zone with 0 players it just gonna have 1 waypoint.
so do you think its smart to create content thats gonna be forgotten by the majority but hailed by numbers so little that they cant complete it themselves?

why don’t you just guest to a lower tier server and complete it there, why don’t you do the karka queen while you’re at it because it hasn’t even been cared for a couple days after the karka queen hype.

all the t1 server overflows should get you enough ppl and we’ll have lower tier servers complaining that they can’t get in their servers zone because of all the t1 guesting due to lower tier guesting to them.

u do know that karka queen is killed a lot these days?? and yes u still have people dead at karka queen, but u dont have tons of dead bodies like u used to. it’s called getting used to, and u can easily avoid the 1 hit stuff like shockwave.

because the karka queen on my server hasnt actually been killed since the southsun update was over with.

so why is it that zhaitan the big bad boss dragon can be killed by 5 people shooting fireworks at him, but tequatl his minion needs 80+ ppl to tickle him until he runs away in 15 minutes.

something doesn’t add up here.

not worth the supply or the effort after 30 sec they can restealth and they got enough evades to stay alive for that time

if you cant kill them in 30 secs while they cant stealth you have serious issues.

because a thief is not capable of spamming 2 to get away from you, god forbid if he has a shortbow.
you know since all classes have 1800+ movement skills.

They have already said that they have no intention of doing this. They would prefer to address the issue by making it easier to get ranks.

unless they have a better solution so alts only have to get 1 wxp to level till they catch up to the total but with no chest then that faster wxp solution sucks compared to account bound ranks.

stealth is a strong thief mechanic, it’s to balance our class. You see ele’s get tons of boons like permanent regen, lots of healing skills, and a handful of cond cleansers. Anet has given the squishy classes mechanics like these to help balance their class because thief’s unlike warrior have about 12k health when built for max damage. A warrior could literally one shot a thief with axe f1 if the warrior was running the same build. To sum it up all classes have atleast one good defensive mechanic, and since thief’s are kinda forced into traiting for glass cannon our defensive mechanic is stealth. Listed defense mechanic’s below:

thief – stealth
mesmer – illusions/stealth
guardians – heavy armor/boons
warriors – heavy armor/high health/optional but a healing signet
necros – high health/deathshroud
rangers – really high regen
eles – lots of heals/boons

we all know stealth is a balancing mechanic for some OP class, but how is the ability to be a god in wvw without counter, balancing?
not to mention thieves can steal boons, and for a mesmer to stealth as much as a theif they have to give up alot of things.
a thief can literally run any build and still have ultimate control of any fight thanks to stealth and no ability to counter it.

what does it feel like to be able to run away from any 1vx you want to? As long as you aren’t held down and daze spammed from the start? It must be fun being able to be an olympic track runner that hits like a train.

Or maybe you can tell me what it feels like to continuously regenerate 393+ hp per second while you spam stuns and bombard your enemy with some of the highest single target burst ingame?

I’m just a simple scepter/focus ele, i just wanna know how it feels to be something that’s easy to play, extremely rewarding and insanely overpowered, please fill me in!

oh and if someone from anet happens to read this, why isn’t anything be done about this sooner? Are they not paying you? Step aside ill do it for free.

  1. TBH, hitting an opponent’s Block should de-stealth you. If only because you have physically contacted their body. Who wouldn’t notice being struck?

When you explain to me how the shield you’re holding in your offhand “blocks” a dagger being drilled between your shoulder blades, we’ll talk about block de-stealthing. Until then, lets leave it as it is.

what about when theives spam backstab like they always do and you turn around, and hit the shield? what about just initiating the attack disabling stealth.

Using an argument for a thief exploiting into a spawn to nerf the utility of thief doesn’t make sense. It’s a glitch and you should report him. There’s a spawnwall which is supposed to block people from getting inside, whether he used some sort of teleport(not exclusive to the thief, I may add) to get inside, or not, there’s no grounds for nerfing a complete class because someone decided it would be fun to exploit.

its not that the thief exploited to get into the area its that stealth is so easily abused that he had no worry of dieing from anything including the legendary defenders. even if another class could teleport in the spawn they would just straight up die immediatly.

Now that dungeons are not worth farming, I’m stuck with a huge zerg of 80s running from champ to champ in Queensdale. Lord forbid you kill a champ out of the order they are running in. Lots of “nice” comments in Map chat if you do.

here’s a question, why are you running around in queensdale getting maybe an orange box when you could be running around in frostgorge getting all orange boxes, not to mention loadstones and t6 mats. and actual old exotics.

don’t forget it actually heals to, if your playing a guardian dps should never be your main concern because lets be honest every other class who’s skills don’t deal with healing/boosting or damage migation. are going to be doing way more damage than you.

and not to mention a zerker player who doesn’t have to use his heal skill is a zerker doing more damage.

“Every other class” being mesmers, thieves, and eles, I assume. Guardian is very firmly middle-of-the-road in terms of overall DPS output. If you want to heal so badly, play an engie or an elementalist. A tiny bit of regen and a 1.5k burst of healing every 20 seconds is not a healer. An engie heals for triple that in the same period of time just from using his own heal skill, and doesn’t have to give up a thing to do it. That’s not even including the other stuff you can take to burst even more healing if you really want it.

if you think that an ele or an engie is a better healer than a guardian than you have no idea about guardians.
every other class who’s 90% of skills don’t have to deal with damage mitigation or healing/boons giving.
curious how you didn’t include the king of pve which is the warrior, and really the only use mesmers have is portals and timewarp.
guardian may be middle of the road for dps, but their tier 1 for healing and support.
and the longer you can keep the tier 1 dps’r from not having to stop and use his heal skill the more damage they can do. which btw is much more than a guardians.

Maybe you’d like to tell me what skill guardians have that can outheal Healing Turret and Super Elixir, then. Which heals the group 4k and 2.7k respectively, and both remove conditions. Just because guardians have a lot of active defensive skills (protection, aegis, reflects, stability) doesn’t mean you have to build like a healer. Their actual healing (as in green numbers) is actually pretty crap outside of maybe the roll heal.

Also, guardians deal more than warriors with all the same boons. “Tier 1” DPS, as you call it, is mesmer, thief, and elementalist. Everyone else deals roughly the same amount with guardians being the highest among them, although not by a significant amount.

lets see shout heals, not only does save yourself take all of the conditions you can have it traited to take conditions and heal ppl when you use it.
the dodge roll, the heal skill itself, the shield bubble (it has a second action which heals) almost everything on the staff, the mace, the torch, the focus.
the elite which has a full heal meaning a warrior can go from 1 hp to full.

why is the pro speed running team 4 warriors and a mesmer for timewarp. it be 5 warriors if the mesmer didnt have timewarp.
guardians are poor for dps look at a classes skills and if it has 90% of them having to do with healing/boon giving/ damage mitigation then that class is gonna suck for dps.

and… Guardians have just fine DPS. I’d bother showing you why, but you kinda already showed you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about with your 4 Warrior 1 Mes comment.

Please be current with the meta if you’re going to bother making bold declarations about a class.

Healing isn’t useful in PvE and all of the Guardians support options don’t significantly hamper their DPS. In fact, they’re pretty valued in many team comps.

anet gives you 5 character slots, you don’t have to spend time defending guardians poor dps when you can just make a warrior and do more.
and no healing isnt useful in pve when you’re doing cof p1, or you’re running with a group who knows everything.
but a lot of people aren’t gonna run with the same pro team.
you may think my meta is late but im not wrong when 90% of a guardians skill/utilities have to do with buffing/healing.

Staff Guardian

funny thing is that staff guardian is going to be more useful than all the squishy zerkers running around since 2/3 of the zerker stats don’t do anything to world bosses.

and ppl will have to waste their precious time rezzing zerkers.
and not to mention staff guardians can easily do more healing than some classes own healing skill.

Even if you can’t crit Tequatl, the zerkers are going to be more useful because they’re build to do damage, instead of being a “healer”. I’m also pretty sure it’s a lot easier to be carried around everywhere by the zerkers, while you’re at range probably doing zero damage.

And what precious time are you wasting on the zerkers? Time waving your staff, or time healing everyone with Orb of Light (788 (0.6) healing is very impressive btw). And I’m curious what healing skill you’re outhealing with staff btw

or instead of zerker you could run pvt for the same effect and not waste everybodys time by rezzing squishy zerkers.
and i can easily heal over 1k with the orb of light, thats without any sigils or foods.

People talk about the Karka Queen as if it had been abbandoned, but it is done regularly in many servers.

“done regularly in many servers” as in “there are servers where it is sometimes done”? Because i am on a server with pretty decent population, where there are always a lot of people showing up for the boss events, and before last revamp the Queen event was just not being done period (the rimer restarted only on server resets). If gw2stuff was to be believed, the same happened on almost all other european servers (didn’t check the US ones). After the last revamp and introducing dragonite drops, it has been done maybe two or three times.

On my Home-server the Karka Queen is done daily unless it’s some kind of a holiday or extenuating circumstances. Daily being every-single-day after Orr-wide events. The problem is that this is what Tequatl might turn into and many people guest to the server during these temple-runs (and Karka queen kills) which would lead to Overflow and many people getting left out and unable to do it until they can muster up their own force of 80 people or wait until the next day.

Edit: Figured I would point out that waiting isn’t much of an issue, but this game rewards brute force and not waiting.

on my server the karka queen is happily making southsun a gigantic karka hive, the only temple done (maybe) is melandru, and the most people can muster for world boss events is maybe 20, its been many a times where golem mark 2 and the megadestroyer is never done, or has 1 person doing it.
and that was on the populated times.

not to mention the world event in harithi hinterlands is rarer than a precursor, same goes for the pirate queen in bloodtide.

don’t forget it actually heals to, if your playing a guardian dps should never be your main concern because lets be honest every other class who’s skills don’t deal with healing/boosting or damage migation. are going to be doing way more damage than you.

“Every other class” being mesmers, thieves, and eles, I assume. Guardian is very firmly middle-of-the-road in terms of overall DPS output. If you want to heal so badly, play an engie or an elementalist. A tiny bit of regen and a 1.5k burst of healing every 20 seconds is not a healer. An engie heals for triple that in the same period of time just from using his own heal skill, and doesn’t have to give up a thing to do it. That’s not even including the other stuff you can take to burst even more healing if you really want it.

if you think that an ele or an engie is a better healer than a guardian than you have no idea about guardians.
every other class who’s 90% of skills don’t have to deal with damage mitigation or healing/boons giving.
curious how you didn’t include the king of pve which is the warrior, and really the only use mesmers have is portals and timewarp.
guardian may be middle of the road for dps, but their tier 1 for healing and support.
and the longer you can keep the tier 1 dps’r from not having to stop and use his heal skill the more damage they can do. which btw is much more than a guardians.

Maybe you’d like to tell me what skill guardians have that can outheal Healing Turret and Super Elixir, then. Which heals the group 4k and 2.7k respectively, and both remove conditions. Just because guardians have a lot of active defensive skills (protection, aegis, reflects, stability) doesn’t mean you have to build like a healer. Their actual healing (as in green numbers) is actually pretty crap outside of maybe the roll heal.

Also, guardians deal more than warriors with all the same boons. “Tier 1” DPS, as you call it, is mesmer, thief, and elementalist. Everyone else deals roughly the same amount with guardians being the highest among them, although not by a significant amount.

lets see shout heals, not only does save yourself take all of the conditions you can have it traited to take conditions and heal ppl when you use it.
the dodge roll, the heal skill itself, the shield bubble (it has a second action which heals) almost everything on the staff, the mace, the torch, the focus.
the elite which has a full heal meaning a warrior can go from 1 hp to full.

so tell me how 1 healing skill on some engie beats all of a guardian, and if guardians are the same as warriors for dps why are they never picked for speed runs? why is the pro speed running team 4 warriors and a mesmer for timewarp. it be 5 warriors if the mesmer didnt have timewarp.
guardians are poor for dps look at a classes skills and if it has 90% of them having to do with healing/boon giving/ damage mitigation then that class is gonna suck for dps.

not to mention you can be traited to give the regen virtue to other ppl

funny thing is that staff guardian is going to be more useful than all the squishy zerkers running around since 2/3 of the zerker stats don’t do anything to world bosses.

and ppl will have to waste their precious time rezzing zerkers.
and not to mention staff guardians can easily do more healing than some classes own healing skill.

they should instead just replace tequatl with the karka queen so player automatically know not to waste their time with it.
not to mention lower tiers servers are never gonna be able to muster 80+ ppl for some crappy reward of 1 rare, and a bunch of junk

2. Increase champs in Southsun Cove.
