Josh:
You may have gone a little overboard with the extra bubbles (I think we just weren’t exploring because of the punishing issues), but I’m certainly not going to complain about that.
THANK YOU for implementing bug workarounds so quickly.
Yeah, I agree. I didn’t think you’d have this rolled out this soon, Josh. This just made my weekend.
That’s not how patch notes work.
Too literally. Okay. So they can put any nonsense they want in the release notes and no one should take the notes literally at all, and just ignore them. Righty-O.
There’s quite the distinction between “Not taking things too literally” and “Completely ignoring them.”
Either it is or it isn’t. There’s no point in releasing patch notes when it contains contradicting notes separated only by a bullet point entry.
edit Apologies for the double post.
(edited by Dark Jericho.8609)
You take patch notes way too literally.
But I can interpret the patch notes literally too. I just purchased the entire skins for bauble bubbles. Which I had saved from April. I see no contradiction, they never state the bauble bubbles must be farmed from this patch.
Regardless. The devs, when they typed it, obviously does not expect a majority of their playerbase to actually try to obtain the entire weapon set. And those who want to, it’s still possible for them.
Too literally. Okay. So they can put any nonsense they want in the release notes and no one should take the notes literally at all, and just ignore them. Righty-O.
it’s obviously not possible to get everything lol
What? It’s obviously possible to obtain all the skins. Why are we completely ignoring the ability to purchase the skins from the TP?
We’re not, it’s just that the release notes states we can complete the remaining skins set via bauble bubbles, but then limits our farming capabilities to the point where we cannot get them via bauble bubbles alone.
I will most likely purchase the remaining skins I cannot obtain from bauble collecting, as I enjoy the particular art for this set, but it’s lame I have to resort to that when the first release let me farm at my leisire to get account bound skins.
I never said anything about whoever should or should not
I was just saying that I don’t care and it’s too bad for you since it’s obviously not possible to get everything lol
Hence the reason for the very existence of this thread. For someone who doesn’t care, you sure made a lot of posts in this thread. There’s nothing wrong with the OP and myself wanting a reason from ArenaNet about their apparent contradicting stance on collecting the remnants of the blue super skin weapon skin set.
What’s wrong with collecting weapons skins for future use for my alts, going along with again, what the release notes states, “completing the super blue skin weapon set”?
You don’t want nor care to collect all of them via bauble farming, so no one else should?

We’re complaining primarily about horrible mob placement, bad collision detection, and complete inflexibility when it comes to latency.
Yeah, this is really killing it for me.
Oh do you have 8 lv 80 toons of each profession? so that you need the entire skin set currently avaible? Too bad for you then.
Ironically you are accusing me of using straw while stating yourself “they clearly mean thisandthat…” do you have any quotes/calculations/insider-news to back your straw man up?
Again, they made no mentioned of profession specific weapon sets that you mentioned in your previous post. I’m not grasping at straws when it clearly states “Collect Bauble Bubbles to complete the blue Super skin weapon set.”, you are with this “profession weapon set” nonsense.

LOL at “earning” it. It only cost 25 Bauble Bubbles which could be farmed in an hour at most back in April. I would know because I bought 2 of them, one for PVE and one for PVP skin You people not wanting it to come back are being ridiculous.
New players should be allowed to buy it. Make this happen, ArenaNet.
The warrior has the biggest weapon arsenal in this game.
Which are 11 weapons – Hammer, GS, Rifle, Longbow, Axe, Sword, Mac, Shield, Warhorn, Harpoon, Spear
Harpoon and Spear are not covered which leaves 9 Weapons.
4 Of the 9 Weapons were covered in the first SAB living story – GS, Sword, Shield, Longbow
Which leaves us with 5 weapons to farm this event.I don’t see any problem completing a weapon set.
Grasping for straws. They clearly mean the entire SAB blue skinned weapons set. No where does it say class specific.

I farmed 25 bauble bubbles back in April for the skin and by all means it was not hard to get in the least. Bring it back for new players to enjoy. This nonsense of keeping certain skins unobtainable so a small group of players can feel some sort of false accomplishment or uniqueness is laughable.
I agree, OP, and don’t understand the contradiction on their official website. From the official website release notes:
Rewards
They want us to complete our set but they took away our rich source of farming (world 1 zone 2 used to be very excellent in quickly farming baubles and is how I completed the first batch of blue SAB skins back in April).

also the difficulty, while a bit spiked up compared to world 1, isn’t that bad if you’d work on the collision detection (the whip especially). i know you wanted to make this as authentic as possible with the 8 bit era and the horrid collision detection that made up for most of the difficulty in those games, but come on, it’s just awful when you’re on a 3d plane instead of a 2d side scroller.

not particularly thrilled that we cannot farm baubles like we were able to in the original release. i’m talking world 1 zone 2 specifically. you guys at arenanet added a bunch of new skins but you crippled our farming capabilities. these skins are event account bound, so why do that? it’s not like we were going to flood the TP with skins as they are, again, account bound. many of us just want to complete our SAB skin collection and then go do something else in the game rather than spend the whole month doing SAB stuff.
most of the challenge from the 8 bit era of games was from poor collision detection if i recall. i didn’t think the dev(s) of SAB one would reasonably find it necessary to put that level of authenticity into it. hell, the slingshot and whip never seem to work for me on the river parts with the turtles and alligators and whatnot. (i didn’t really get too far into zone 1 heh)
I think the shoulder skin works as a nice alternate piece to the Aetherblade heavy armor set, at least when worn on a female human.
I’m waiting for this too. Maybe they can make pigs fly while they’re at it!
Wow… what poorly optimized games have you been playing (besides GW2) that make you feel it’s an impossible task?
Same here,
I just did Mount Maelstrom and did not get an update.
Same, this happened to me earlier, before the patch from today. I’m now waiting for the rotation to get back to Mount Maelstrom so I can finally complete this LS and get back to the core game (if they actually fixed it that is).
Edit I got it my second try; both tries were in an overflow to clarify and I never left the zone or got D/C’d.
(edited by Dark Jericho.8609)
Not sure why these living stories exist anyway. They come and go so quickly, without leaving any real impact on the player experience.
Anet should spend the time and resources into optimizing the code and fixing horrible performance.
Yeah, I wish they’d put a halt to the LS to do this. There’s no excuse for how many of these annoying bugs that have been present since beta still seem to go ignored. I’m also still waiting on when they make this game less CPU/more GPU intensive.
I agree, OP. It has gotten to the point for me where I just blaze through whatever stupid LS they currently have out to get the massive bump in achievement points, because honestly the story is very weak and seems to be getting drawn out and leading to nowhere.
The current LS, Clockwork Chaos, is buggy as all hell for me and I’m waiting for the one map I need left to finish Invasion Canceler to pop up on the world event thingy (I had completed this map once but I didn’t get credit for it for some reason).
As soon as I get that nonsense done, I go back to doing what I enjoy in the core game, like occasionally doing dungeons, the activity games (only real fun to come out of the LS chapters IMO), and playing on my alts for the remainder of the LS span while dreading whatever terrible new chapter they have ready to torture us with next.
Guardian
30/0/5/30/5 – Staff for orbs and swiftness buff to finish phase 1 quickly/Scepter with Focus for phase 2 DPSing (used scepter skill 2 to shut down orbs).
Heals, Utilities, and Elite were Shelter, Stand Your Ground, Retreat!, Save Yourselves!, and Renewed Focus.
Mainly rare quality PVT armor, exotic back, and masterwork trinkets with rare rampage weapons except for staff, which I used Memories of the Sky exotic.
Took me 6 days and about 200 entrance tickets of attempts until I stumbled upon this lovely video right here
as soon as i switched to this build, i beat her in the next attempt with almost a minute to spare
LOL!
Nevermind this topic, I beat the encounter on the next try after posting it.
Basically, I used all the strategy I described in the first post, except that Strugar actually threw the meats toward me the whole time while Chomper was getting knocked back by my Spirit Hammer skill.
So pretty much I won from sheer luck.
I have been stuck on this boss for 2 nights now and used up 30+ tickets. I’ve been told the Hammer is key but I can’t seem to get to the meats enough times to be able to burst the dog down, or stay alive for that matter. Also, half the time I pick up a meat I don’t get another stack of the buff even though I am practically spamming the F key when I get to the object, and Chomper is half-way across the arena (I knocked him back with Banish) so he can’t possibly have gotten to it before I did; has happened on multiple tries.
I’ve also been using the Sword and Hammer spirit skills to keep Strugar busy while I am hopelessly chasing down the meats, and they help some.
I’m not even trying for the Meatless Murderer Achievement, I just want to beat this encounter so I can start working on getting the Liadri mini (heh) and then get back to the core game.
Please help!
I cannot believe how out of touch ArenaNet has become after reading that post. Yeah, let’s put this hard content in and give the player base only 2 weeks to even attempt to get a gold score for completing it.
Also, yeah, I too would like to see these hot-shot devs show how it’s possible to score gold for these broken trials in a video; I’ll believe it when I see it.
I thought I was the only one to notice this. I took a screen shot of her to compare to the above pic for comparison:
Holy kitten that’s hilarious.
T4 was fun for both trials I am glad I got the hang of it soloing dont rely on no one lol but its easy once you get the just of it.
Pretty much this. Every group I was in we all failed miserably in tier IV and I finally had enough of it and tried it on my own.
I was able to solo both Gnashblade’s and Kiel’s tonight, finished about an hour ago. I used my level 80 Guardian who is outfitted in mostly rares in a mix of PVT and Berserker stats, though I had to respec 30/30/10/0/0 and used all the scepter/burning/one handed crit damage traits, plus the snare trait that gives some vulnerability to snared target.
I used a combo of scepter w/torch to quickly burn down the plunderers and hammer for knocking away the two mortar guys from their spots where they spawn their mortars. Once I did that they stayed in the same spot and didn’t attack me and their mortars never spawned.
As the veterans start spawning in the middle I would quickly run to the armor repair NPC’s direction until I noticed the veterans walking away to the main stash area and then quickly run back, snare, and burn down the plunderers before they sent their pilfered goods back to their ship.
After a little while the vets stop spawning and I was able to stay a safe distance from aggroing them while easily burning down the plunderers. I’d say I was generally a few paces in front of the middle teleporter. I finished one tier IV at 2000 and the other at 1500. It’s better to let a plunderer get to his/her teleporter than to aggro one of the vets and have them keep coming after you and possibly downing you.
Agreed, OP, 100%.
I came into this MMO thinking I’d be able to take an occasional break from it and not miss out on stuff, but it’s been exactly the opposite. If all of these Living Story updates were permanent as you suggested, similar to their GW1 model, that’d be perfect.
Instead, for this year it’s been this: “Here you go, guys, new content! Oh wait, it’s time to take it away from you now because the world is supposed to be living! Ignore the fact that the core story and zones are still in their original state from before The Lost Shores update and there for anyone to play at their leisure, but nope you cannot replay and experience the new chapters following said core story content because we have to pretend this is a living world, guys, do you get it?!”
It’s beyond ridiculous to not leave these past chapters of the LS in for new comers and old players who wish to experience them again. They could easily make them all instances similar to how the personal story is instanced in actual zones.
Fractals getting LS dungeons doesn’t cut it either, since it’s just a small piece of the whole chapter of whatever particular LS they ripped the dungeon from.
I just cannot fathom how anyone could be happy with temporary content.
Will this item always be available for purchase or is it going away when Bazaar of the Four Winds concludes?
Forgive me if there’s already a topic about this, as the search function isn’t working for me, but according to an NPC on the Zyphyr Sanctum, these sky crystals are supposed to have messages once you interact with them, but when I do, nothing happens other than my Lessons from the Sky achievement tracker going up, and the sky crystal no longer being interactive.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sky_Crystal
The wiki also says “The crystals hold the recorded message of the elder of the Zephyrites.” So is that just flavor text on the wiki and from the NPC or am I actually supposed to see some messages pop up in some form?
GREAT idea. I’m totally on board with this.
ArenaNet really took a lot of people by surprise with these harder type of achievements for temporary content, including me, and it’d be nice if we all, who haven’t had much luck obtaining these achievements the past two weeks, could get another shot at it when it returns in fractal form.
Yes I can appreciate that, and obviously some people mind it otherwise this thread wouldn’t exist. I’m not sure I agree the schedule is ‘ridiculous’, more very ambitious, and yes the content has been coming thick and fast of late.
But the fact is, an MMO can’t cater to everyone, and I think part of GW2’s issues atm, is that ANet seem to be trying to make everyone happy. It’s not possible, You either cater to very casual players, and the mid-to hardcore players will complain there’s not even content to satisfy them, or you accept that some people will miss some things.
At the end of the day, we are not having to pay extra for these things, so it’s not a case of paying a certain amount per month and not feeling you are getting value for money….this is free stuff. The game is already diverse enough that people can jump in whenever and do these things, asking them to slow down for the ultra casual is not fair for those who can or do put more time into the game.
It is a delicate balance, and I am adult enough to accept I won’t catch everything and that is perfectly okay.
It’s very possible to make everyone happy, simply by doing what has been suggested in this very thread, leaving content in permanently and not this awful “for one time only!” nonsense. If they’re not going to slow down on LS, then they could at least make each new chapter of it permanent, by being accessible to players old and new.
I don’t see how being “adult enough” equates to sitting back and letting a game I pre-ordered over a year ago and have enjoyed since Beta Weekend 2 and have been immersed in, slowly degrade to the buggy, overlapping, temporary achievement chasing rushfest it’s been since early May, or that I have to sit out this content because I don’t have as much free time as others, when this content shouldn’t be rushed nor temporary in the first place. It’d be much better for everyone to leave everything accessible from current and previous LS content, or slow it down enough to make it actually work properly for every player to experience.
I wholeheartedly agree, TC, it’d be really nice to have some time between living story scenarios to unwind, enjoy some of the original content and actually get a chance to PvP a little.
I too have a full time job, and I honestly haven’t been able to play much dungeons or haven’t had any time at all finish up a lot of zones I’ve been wanting to complete for a few months now, all because I’ve only had enough time to chase down these limited time living story scenarios, and their respective achievements/unique items.
I can see how someone who has no job or isn’t in school would want this constant barrage of new content, but I seriously doubt that’s the situation for a lot of the player base of GW2.
OP I certainly appreciate your point of view, but…..I consider myself casual, and I did miss the whole Molten Facility thing. I don’t mind that at all. Why does it matter if we miss things now and again? The world of Tyria is supposed to be ever-moving forwards after all.
I do share the sentiment that it can be a challenge keeping up with things, but I just don’t mind this at all. I do as much as I can, and enjoy it.
You may not mind it, but some people do, however, and there’s really no good reason to punish people, who have to work or have real-life obligations, for not having enough time to mold into Anet’s ridiculous schedule with the Living Story that’s been happening since May. It effectively cuts out people who want to enjoy a lot of other things this game has to offer but don’t want to miss out on one time events and the really cool items they can get from them.
I have to agree Barabbas. If it was a PERMANENT addition, I wouldn’t mind at all, or at least made into a fractal so we could attempt all the achievements while in a fractal.
It’d be so AWESOME if they let us get these achievements from it in its fractal version. Less than 10 days left of this dungeon and it’s very hard for me to find a group willing to go for said achievements.
All weekend I’ve had a hard time finding a group for this dungeon, and have only got to do it to completion once (last night). At this point, it doesn’t look like I’m going to get those last 3 hardmode-ish achievements due to this dungeon being gone in less than 10 days, and hardly anyone wanting to do it. It’s a kitten ed shame too, as I really find this dungeon very thrilling.
I really hate how everything this year is temporary so far, but an in-game LFG feature would have been extremely helpful as Daroon has said. It’s ridiculous that one hasn’t been put in yet almost a year after this game’s release.
Well that’s just silly.
How long is a piece of string?
Seriously some people might not log in for a month . some might buy the game tomorrow,
Do they all deserve past content too?
Uh, actually yes, that would be the smart thing to do on ArenaNet’s part. Everyone should have equal access to all content and rewards. A player being present at a certain time in a game is no special feat by any means and I laugh when some player takes pride in this like they actually accomplished something other than logging in at an obscure time to get their unique shinies. This type of horrid design ArenaNet is currently applying can easily put off newcomers from wanting to stick around and play a game where there are certain items they see on another player and may want but will never get a chance at just because they decided to purchase the game at a later date.
And before you mention that they can just purchase whatever unique item they desire off the TP when they have accumulated a substantial amount of gold and the player lucky enough to have obtained the item during its event gets a big payday from selling, let’s not forget that a lot of skins or items are account bound and will eventually do nothing more than take up a slot in their bank when they tire of it. Such is the case of me getting a Jade Ticket when I in fact think all of the Jade Weapon skins are a mess of pixilated textures and not visually appealing by design.
I would also like to replay through the Effigy Ceremony and the instances that come after.
This one-time only stuff is bad enough as it is, but having only a 3-day window during a holiday weekend where people are known to go out of town to visit relatives is beyond ridiculous. Guild Wars 1 having those holiday events for 1 day only was also pretty terrible, but at least now they remedied that by allowing both old and new players to obtain past rewards with their little token system once those holiday events swing back around each year.
There is literally no reason to not have these fireworks continue on for the duration of Dragon Bash. Seems like ArenaNet totally forgot the large number of negative feedback they got for The Lost Shores event.
I almost missed out on a previous achievement from Flame & Frost (A Rallying Flame) due to my internet access being cut from a local storm and was only able to get it because ArenaNet had the decency to reactivate those Bonfires for people who missed the original 2 day window, so I can only imagine the pure frustration of players who would actually get a nifty reward helm from this particular achievement only to miss out due to terrible design choice as above posters already stated.
Can’t log in as well. Please fix!
Could always wait till most players leave so it’s only yourself there and perhaps 1-2 more people. Easiest way to get it then in my opinion compared to achieving it with a full room.
This is what I had to resort to, LOL! I have to go to work early today so I am up at an extremely early hour, I logged in and jumped into a game and there were 3 others just tossing the crab to each other and taking turns getting the achievements, and I asked if I could get “Crabtacular!” and explained what they needed to do, and they agreed. I helped them get it too, of course.
Honestly, I’d have loved to get this one legitimately like I got the others, but as has been mentioned already in this thread, I noticed numerous players are playing a lot better and know to stay away from the Veteran Karka and not to chase the crab carrier running toward said Karka.
I too have had that message displayed multiple times in the same match but with no luck. Yikes, this Crabtacular achievement is the only one I can’t seem to get. I got Crab Toss Champion, Crabgrabber, and the other Crab Toss ones so far today in a single sitting without any problems.
Yeah, having the grand finale dungeon out for not even two weeks is in bad taste. Why not have it up for a month like the other chapters of Flame & Frost?
I just don’t understand why they can’t use friendlier alternatives; There are always better ways than plain RNG.
1: Using fixed prices
2: Make items tradeable (The new stuff might be, if not, it is my request for anet)
3: Use a feelgood ticket system – Didn’t get that minipet in 5, 10, 15 attempts? Well now you have 15 tickets, go trade it in for the mini.
Yeah, I’m pretty bummed I couldn’t get any of the fused weapon skins. I would definitely have bought most of them if the skins were offered straight up in the gem store like with the Wintersday and the Braham/Rox weapon skins.
We had a level 23 ranger in our group last night, and they held their own for the whole thing; don’t remember seeing them downed once. We cleared the dungeon pretty fast too.
So since you don’t remember it must not exist. LOL at quotes like “you must be referring.”
So yeah this is what I was talking about and it has nothing to do with the trash green weapons that are still all over the market. This was used and YES STILL CAN BE USED to trade for the GEM STORE only winters day weapons, and like I said, it uses AND STILL DOES USE the same mechanics as the fused claim ticket.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Winter's_Weapon_Claim_Ticket
Thanks for your input though, as it was quite valuable.
Whoa! Chill, man! I never said they didn’t exist, just saying I never encountered such tickets nor remember anyone ever obtaining them. I stand corrected.
It’s getting a bit frosty in here. Badum-tshhh
Haha.
I have 7 of those tickets and am not sure what weapons I want, as I don’t really like any, so I hope they stay available for purchase for some time yet.
Gosh, 7? I’ve been reading posts about people buying hundreds of keys and not getting diddly squat, but who knows if they’re for real or not. I’d go with the greatsword, hammer, axe, sword, shield, and a couple daggers myself…. the others (the guns especially) are pretty bland. Well, the longbow is nice too I guess.
This in incorrect information. The fused weapon tickets can be turned in to Evon Gnashblade who stands above the trading post in LA. There were winters day weapon claim tickets (I still have one) which could be used to trade for the weapons that could only be bought with gems. Even today, I just tried again, I can go to him with the winter claim ticket in my inventory and he will still trade me a wintersday gem store weapon.
So I would image since the fused ticket is the exact same mechanic and dialog screen when I go up to Evon with one, it will more than likely be available indefinitely, as long as the tickets exist.
I don’t rememeber there ever being any Wintersday claim tickets. The Wintersday weapon skins sold in the gem store did not need any claim tickets of any sort as you purchased the skins directly, the same way Braham’s and Rox’s weapon skins are purchased within the gem store right now. You must be referring to the Wintersday toy skins that you could either find in the different types of Wintersday gift drops during that holiday or purchase from the gift-exchange vendors during that holiday with Ugly Wool Hats, Sweaters, or Socks. The Wintersday gem store weapon skins and the toy skins are completely different.
I myself have never obtained a Fused Weapon Claim Ticket so I wasn’t aware Evon offered to exchange them for a weapon. That answers TC’s question but it would still be nice to know if the Fused Weapon tickets are a permanent BLC drop.
Judging from past events they will most likely stick around for 2 weeks after Flame and Frost ends. Considering how rare it is for a ticket to drop from a BL chest it’d be nice if these Vigil vendors as well as the chance for a ticket to drop from a BL chest were permanent, but that’s just wishful thinking on my part.
3) Social game, some grouping required.
Social game doesn’t mean anything absolutely has to be group required.
4) Dungeons = groups :: Dynamic Events, Personal Story, & Hearts = solo content.
Quite a few dynamic events are designed for group requirement in order to complete, so no, it’s not exclusively “solo content.”
5) Wasted development time to try to make group based content balanced for individual play (balancing mobs, in-dungeon puzzles, rewards, etc.).
Scaling already exists in-game so calling it wasted development time is really grasping at straws.
6) MMORPG = Massive MULTIPLAYER Online Role Playing Game. MMORPG =/= Massive Singleplayer Online Role Playing Game. (That’s why there are single player RPG’s such as Skyrim, The Witcher, Mass Effect, and so on. )
Doesn’t make even the tiniest bit of difference if there are options to do everything solo whilst people who want to group are not impeded in the slightest by said solo option. As Fiontar pointed out in his post, ArenaNet already possess the necessary tools to give both solo and group players what they want.
