/sigh
I thought you were joking around but actually you were serious.
Well I guess the goal in Pearl Islet beach is more like bikinis than undergarments, but the devs used those because less work and look the same.
So what about the NPCs that are wearing unique swimwear and different colored dyes for the default undergarments? The work is already done.
[…] and they should sell various kinds of undergarments on the gem store […]
And maybe also some vertical bars so people could /poledance.
Looks like someone hasn’t seen the NPCs in Southsun’s Pearl Islet beach. The attire is literally in game already.
I don’t see how anyone can even bring up “immersion” as a reason to oppose anything anymore. If you are still able to be “immersed” in a fantasy world with baseball caps, plushy backpacks, and a ridiculous array of comical PvP finishers, you should be able to see a shirtless character without completely losing it.
This person gets it. All armor pieces should have a toggle-off box, and they should sell various kinds of undergarments on the gem store. I don’t see what the big deal is in having those options, especially now with how outfits function in game.
Hmm, let me see your GW2 elementalist whip out some ranger skills. No? How about some warrior skills. Okay, fine. Let’s try skills from some other caster profession. How about… mesmer? Not even that, huh? Forget the skills, then. Let’s see that GW2 ele equip a dry land spear and a shield!
Well, shucks.
What else ya got?
Good ole defensive weapon set for casters. I wish GW2 had GW1’s weapon swapping system.
They might come back in the form of some raffle like with the halloween 2012 skins. Or when some other BL skin set gets temporarily “retired” and it replacing said set along with a high price tag of BL tickets to purchase each skin I’d imagine.
They could’ve had my money if they made it an armor skin instead of an outfit…but I was willing to settle for this one, just once…
but then they decided to exclude the anise shoulders, and substituted the skirt with some poofy buttpiece? Are we some sort of exotic bird or something? seriously?
I have no clue what the reasoning behind that one is, but that is absolutely ugly so I will not be wearing this .
Yeah, the female version looks terrible. It looks more like the female Lunatic Court finery from GW1.
OP, I personally think season 1 will eventually work its way into the story journal in the future. ArenaNet has been putting new players on priority for a good while now and it’s obvious from the attention they are putting into the personal story fix they have planned (there’s a FAQ stickied: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Personal-Story-Restoration-update/first) that they’d like newbies to be able to follow the story in a continuous flow in-game instead of the current gap that requires one to wiki or youtube search it and other silly ideas one shouldn’t have to do.
It’s a bummer that we have to wait so long for its eventual release but in the end maybe they will make S1 a more enjoyable experience for players, because as someone who experienced S1 in its entirety, I have to say most of it was really unfun and extremely buggy, and mostly a rat race for filling up achievements the chapter introduced (if you care about that stuff). Some chapters were so badly bugged that they were broken for almost their entire 2 week duration.
I was hoping they would have made it a bonus mini after spending a certain amount of money in the gem store like they did with the mini Mr. Sparkles promotion during one of the Wintersday sales I think it was.
[suggestion]
since altering story progress for characters (ie, removing the progress from the character save-file) results in so many bugs… how about making a copy of the complete personal story, and labelling the copied PS “replayable story step chapter 1 step 1”, or “season 0, chapter 1 step 1”, etc. since it would be a copy, it would technically be a different instance, and therefore wouldn’t affect the character save file. granted, the new “copies” would have to recoded so as to not save the choices in the character save-file, but rather simply be more like the season 2 instances, with achievement flags,(please forgive my pseudo jargon here, i’m not a programmer, so i tend to refer to permanent choices as save-file data, and gaining achievements to me is tripping a flag, in my own words)
so then you’d end up with two categories of personal story. you’d have category 1, which contains all the PS as restored, including the programming that prevents us from replaying the instances. category 2 would be the copied PS, which would include updated programming to allow for replayability and achievements, while removing the programming that saves PS choices to the character save files.. this would entail some work, but would prevent the game breaking bugs caused by resetting the PS.
Yeah, same, I don’t even have a clue on how this stuff works but I really wish they would find a way for us to to be able to replay the PS. Maybe when they find a way to get the Living Story season 1 out in story journal form, they may be able to work in a replayable PS.
Something similar happened to two of my characters so far, but I thought it was just a bug that was left over from last September’s feature patch that affected really old characters that hadn’t started their PS, because the characters that this happened to me on are well over 2 years old and I noticed one of them had progressed a step without me playing not long after said patch. I posted a topic about it a while back with a recent update about it happening to another character of mine when it reached level 10:
It was working yesterday. I did a key run then. Report as a bug, but I bet that once skipped you’ll not be able to do the first part of the story even if they fix the bug.
Also sadly this, they mentioned in another topic about PS chapter restoration that got removed from the September feature patch that having a reset for the PS is out of their scope; it really sucks and I wish they’d still try and find a way to do it.
It’d be cool if they bring in the upright body type, but I just want that the primitive warrior armor the Charr Bladestorm is wearing in the OP’s screenshot, with spiky shoulders and all. Hell, bring in the Charr weapon skins from the GW1 bonus mission pack to go with it and I’d be a happy camper.
I’m pretty excited after reading the blog.
Looking forward to the next blog post that elaborates on the new legendary weapons.
Yes.
Cool, I got an invite just a little while ago. I’ll be there. :>
Don’t worry Gwen, I know you miss being near the Scrying pool. Things will be back to normal.
I lol’d.
If you’ve just wanted skins you can just apply them in your wardrobe, it doesn’t cost a charge.
I think if the OP just got more HoM points and earned new skins, they still have to visit the NPC to receive the skins/miniatures to unlock them in wardrobe/mini collection, unless I am mistaken.
Yes, if you don’t mind its datedness, it’s a decent game especially if you like to solo stuff using an AI team lol.
Another screenshot attachment proving the mails were sent at the same time. It won’t let me attach more than one screenshot per post for some reason.
Bumping this thread instead of making another with an update as this happened AGAIN with another of my low-level alts that was made before the NPE. This time it was my Asura Mesmer who had just hit level 10 and received 2 mails related to the personal story right when she leveled. I viewed the Story Journal and saw that a step was completely skipped (no I did not do it as the personal story was shuttered to this character since it was never level 10 until just a few minutes ago). I never completed the skipped step before the NPE patch either.
Would be nice to be able to select different postures in character creation, and have options to make characters really fat so they can waddle everywhere casting spells or swinging swords and whatnot.
One can only dream.
A few months ago I was curious about that spot, and I started killing all the mobs around there, and after I killed the last tendril that’s outside the cave the vines actually cleared way, and inside were a few vet mordem wolves and more vines, maybe a couple of husks, and lastly one of those little chests like the ones in random places in other maps.
I couldn’t get the chest opened though as I couldn’t kill all the veteran mobs fast enough; they’d keep interrupting me too. Eventually the vines shut and I got trapped, overwhelmed and died. I haven’t bothered trying for the chest again since.
I’m on board with this, and while they are at it, add in some new weapon attack animations for all existing weapons.
I’m at 18.5k AP and I still haven’t done most of the dungeon explorables yet. Mine’s just relatively high because I log in for dailies almost every day since head start, and was very active during season 1 and racked up a lot of AP from that.
Heh, I’m only personal level 9 in fractals too. Luckily the people in game who have partied up with me have shown me the ropes on parts that I have screwed up on and were never a jerk about it, at least in party chat.
Why do people take so many screenshots with something dark behind them when trying to show off their black wings…?
.
Sounds like a monitor issue on your end. I can see the wings clearly in each screenshot in both this thread and the other one.
Not my character but I LOL’d at how fast it caught my attention as soon as I loaded onto the map. This was surprisingly the only Sephiroth I saw tonight but I’m sure more will pop up soon.
Love the tonic of this in GW1 so I’m looking forward to this one. Bring us the other 4 human gods while at it (and a new Kormir one).
Yeah, as that one guy who linked to the support ticket page (which should have been in his first post) directed, just create a ticket about your experiences with this person or persons with any recordings you have and let support sort it out.
I would also go with the suggestion of guesting to another server and see if you have better luck being in a different map overflow.
The one on the airship disappeared as well. I noticed this around the time that Lunar festival patch sprung up a few weeks ago.
Not sure the reasoning unless maybe they have some trait changes coming soon maybe.
Well it was said that there were trait revamps in the expansion…
Yes, but I doubt HoT is coming soon enough to warrant the removal of these NPCs when the expansion is likely months away.

This is just unacceptable, though. You’re telling me that I’ve ruined my chances of ever experiencing the full personal story and having a correct and complete story journal for my main character because I didn’t think to research whether or not personal story arcs were just incompetently REMOVED from the game before I continued my story? This is your fault, not mine. But I am the one getting punished.
If you can’t reset stories to the greatest fear, I would even accept a full personal story reset to biography and do the work of getting my character back up to that part of the story. I’d also even pay for such a service in the gemstore. I’ll wait for HoT for it too. Just give me SOME option other than rerolling my main. Please.
Agreed.
Make another character, problem solved. I’m just happy they’re fixing the problem. And please don’t start talking about what’s “unacceptable.” Most of us are bummed that the characters we already played through won’t get a chance at the original storyline, but we’re accepting it just fine.
That’s not a solution by any means, and no, not all of us are “accepting it just fine.” I’ve played through the PS in its original structure and I’d like to replay through it on the same character. Not being able to reset the personal story along with the immersion breaking of certain destroyed areas in the world showing up in both the PS and Story Journal when they’re supposed to be in their original state is simply ridiculous.
Solo-instances would be cool. Or maybe helper NPCs to jump in with you.
In GW1 it works well. Everyday I see people find groups with other players easily if it’s for a hard mode Zaishen daily mission or bounty as well as people just porting into the outpost/town with their own heroes to do their own thing.
I’d definitely be for this even if there were a significant hit to the rewards at the end for the solo’ers.
Kudzu would be cool if it had some unique bowstring to match the weapon like a golden vine or something. It just looks unfinished in its current form otherwise I woulda made one a long time ago.
My gripe is the same for the Zenith bow skins, the bowstrings just don’t look right.
All of the renown hearts are pretty tedious especially when going for map completion on alts. Let’s just remove them all while we’re at it.
Sounds like you didn’t apply your thermal paste correctly if temps are shooting up so high while using an aftermarket CPU cooler.
I think I’ll riff on the term “precog” and call this “preQQ.”
I can’t imagine a grind they could put in place that would be worse than needing to level my 10 toons from 80 to 90 and replacing two full sets of Ascended armor as well as dozens of Ascended weapons.
Increasing the level cap as a form of progression is a terrible idea. But we do still need progression. Masteries seem like a very good solution to that problem.
agreed, i got really excited when reading the blog. really looking forward to HoT now after today.
If they removed armor repairing altogether I wonder if they’d leave all the anvils lying around like they did with those crates the missing city herald NPCs used to stand on back in the first season of LS.
Yeah I’d like more swords like Infinite Light but in Runic Blade form (basically without lit-up runes).
Probably another feature patch and one of those WvW tourney things are coming. Maybe SAB.
I’m going with Charr most likely; Rytlock looks boss in his new duds.
Ah, Elite Kurzick armor, the good ’ol days.
That armor is awesome as hell and I always stop and admire it when I see someone in a town or outpost rocking it. I’m currently working on my Kurzick max title and buying amber chunks so I can craft it for my warrior (I’m broke in GW1 so I can’t straight up buy them all lol).
I think it would be fun. You could control what skills and gear the heroes used. It would add a new layer of fun to the game. I endorse this idea.
Same.
I’d be more likely to do dungeons, then. =P
I wouldn’t like to see it in open world, but in personal/living story instances, dungeons, and theoretically fractals? It’d be nice, but I don’t see the rudimentary AI handling anything more complicated than “go die over there,” like the NPCs all do.
It would definitely take some tweaking of the system to have henchmen/heroes to behave like in GW1, though I think it’s doable. They would be perfect for instanced content, like you suggested. Open world I don’t see this ever happening. Open world content I dislike the most in this game because of how much zerging is encouraged and how much of a cluster… it is, especially with these new specific zone dailies that don’t scale well at all. Just running around tagging something to get credit instead of actually playing through some mechanics that can make things not a snore fest, and in instanced content with henchmen/heroes I think it can spice up things if done correctly.
Still though, with how broken AI pets and minions are right now and how little attention their bugs receive from the devs gives a hint that we’ll never get to see this sadly.
Except, I’ll point out, there’s no guarantee of you getting your money/goods back if you get scammed. In fact there’s an explicit guarantee you will not.
So, is it worth the risk?
I was referring to Linken’s post about spamming map chat, not getting scammed itself. ArenaNet already has a policy that works for outside TP “trades.”
I’ll edit my post with a quote so no one else gets confused.
and people will still use map chat since you get ahold of most people then
People keep to the grey text trade channel in GW1 when buying or selling, and the same can be done in this game.
If they don’t? There’s a nifty report and block feature you can use as well.
(edited by Dark Jericho.8609)
I play GW1 still and sometimes I will load into Kamadan and there’s an argument in map chat where one guy is complaining about so and so scammed me don’t trade with him and then for the next few minutes the scammed guy gets berated nonstop. Always a funny thing to read, and see why ArenaNet just directs everyone to the TP.
Still though, I’d personally like a peer-to-peer trade for this game like in GW1 as long as a new trade channel gets set up in cities and can easily be filtered out via a check box like other current chats in GW2.
Good suggestions keep ’em coming LOL.
Welp, that’s what I get for my bad habit of overlooking stickied threads; thanks for pointing me to that thread. It’s weird though, I could have sworn that gap in the Arctic outfit was not there on Monday night as I was wearing it while doing dailies and I was playing in multiple environments where it would have been easily noticeable.
The heritage armor did have the gap back in 2012 but I remember it being fixed for the entirety of 2013 and 2014 up until that first feature patch (I used the heritage skins off and on on my guardian during that time). It’s weird how things like this end up creeping back out from random patches.
Anyway, flagged this thread for closure since there’s an existing one.
I recently purchased gems and got the Arctic Explorer Outfit on Monday night, and after Tuesday’s patch I noticed a very noticeable and very annoying graphical bug on it for my human female guardian. She has the small chest, wide hip ‘muscular’ body build if this helps.
In the first 3 links if you look at her midsection, toward your right, you can see the NPC’s arm and face through said midsection. This glitch was not present on Monday:

Also, the Heritage heavy armor on my female warrior, again the same body type, has a similar glitch in her midsection where it looks like her torso is floating over her waist/leg area, as shown in the next 2 links. It almost looks hardly noticeable in the screenshots, but when playing and viewing her many attack animations, it becomes extremely apparent and bothersome. This graphical bug has been present as far back as the first major feature patch from last April. I have submitted a bug report for the heritage armor and almost a year later it is still not fixed, so incase my bug report was overlooked, I am documenting the graphical glitch in this post too:

would only be on board with this if this ‘merge’ scrapped the gw2 engine completely and converted all of the gw2 adventuring in gw1’s style
i play both games and gw1’s gameplay is a lot more appealing and engaging for me personally, plus having all the zones/dungeons instanced for me and my geared up heroes would be nice.
runs
Like in RL: you can buy everything for gold (dollars)
I play RL most of the time though. I do not want more RL in my pretend-funtime game. Apparently, I’m in a minority.
not at all man, these forums are just concentrated with the type of posts you’ve been arguing against. before the forum reorginization most of these guys stuck to the BLTP sub-forum but since it’s been archived, they all kind of swarm to whatever is topic of the moment here from what i’ve noticed
i agree with all your posts btw
I hope the scrapped the idea.
agreed. this is such a terrible idea.
