I’m not expert in the game, not even close, but that is what I see –
I have a ranger lvl 55, deals 170 damage per attack with the long bow, and around 100 with the short bow, and I also have a necromancer lvl 40 that deals around 400 per autoattack and he is having more critical chance (don’t know where to check exact numbers, but he has around twice as many crits as the ranger) which deal 800 damage – why is the ranger so weak?

It’ s the most unbalanced profession in this game.
if i were in you i would play a different profession and enjoy the game since ranger is not viable at all

Anet devs, do you consider ranger to be the newbie class, that gets people through content without really trying, but has a very hard, low cap?

Consider that ranger is represented at 0% or close to 0% in the top competitive teams for PvP and PvE, and is unwelcome in WvW guilds to the point that “no rangers accepted” is a common statement seen on guild sites.

Can we assume you intend for the profession to be “intro to GW2”? Should serious players move on after a while?

OK, I think this is the first time I’ve been really disappointed in the development of this game.

We were told that we are only getting two beta events and who gets left off the roster of specializations that will be tested??? Ranger and Engi are both getting the shaft it seems. We can see from each beta event that classes where improved or balanced somewhat better after Anet got feedback on a class and we’re not going to get the same treatment.

Whatever get’s slapped together is what we’re going to be stuck with for a long time coming because if you’ve played ranger for any length of time you’d know how hard it’s been to get any changes made and they’re usually half-efforts at best.

Overall I love the game, and over the course of almost 3 years I’ve really enjoyed my ranger but I think it might be time to play chronomancer or start over with Revenant……

Since day one ranger is bad. Well at least the good aspect of this is that me and many other rangers will save our money.

I wouldn’t like to see any buff on Ranger. Being farmed from extreme range while being harassed by attack drones isn’t fun. Rangers also have pretty rapid stealth, a speed signet and strong CC.

Well do I remember the rangers laughing in map chat as they insta killed my Mesmer with point blank shot > pet cc > machine gun bow and shouted “l2p.”

No, I’d oppose buffs of any kind to Ranger unless it came with a healthy nerf to the longbow and a reduction in range.

Sorry to crush your fun but I have never lost a single straight 1v1 versus thieves with the build I am using with e Dream.

You’ll very soon see me playing in high level matches in ESLs. We were the first team to beat Abjured after 30 weeks in a match last week and I’m pretty confident we can do it again.

yeah we had this discussion before, don’t enable the autoattack thing, blablabla.
it is still a very fast aa-chain with 2 leaps where you can’t dodge and its unfair that you can’t rupt them with a dodge to avoid getting hit.

(yeah i know how to disable auto attack and how to rupt the chain with other skills /esc and stuff. but i don’t think that this is how it should be, since it is a very fast auto attack and thats not what a autoattack should do with your charakter. if it was on another skill, fine, but not on a autoattack.)

That is very disappointing. Despite my issues with anet, I was always very happy that their support team was usually willing to help and work with you. That response is very disturbing to me. It means that either somebody is tying their hands or they simply don’t wish to be helpful any longer and that is not a good sign.

1) Dont listen to anything @Darkness.9732 have to say. He’s notoriously known for being a troll on the rangers forum, telling everyone how terrible ranger is and that they should change a profession. Ignore this guy completely.

2)I play GS/SB ranger, its very viable for solo que spvp/solo-small scale raoming and dueling.

3) Pet AI is about the same, but the easy access to BM trait line, making them very strong. most veteran rangers have learned how to play around pet AI limits.

4)Keep in mind the changes to condi made it so you wont do much bleed dmage on SB unless you build for condi damage.

If you want me to sahre my won personal build tell me and i’ll send it to you on private.

Title says it all. Was way better before. Now i get teamed up with new players who dont know what pvp is. I have two accounts and on my other account i got teamed up with tier 1 people when im rank 15 on that account. Its so broken…Your system isnt working. I get lose streaks on my r80 account because my team sometimes cant kill anything or dont know how capping nodes work. So if im in a team i get maybe another which is r80 and the rest is like r5 and the opposite team is usually godlike who can ping pong you back and forth the whole map until you die. Sometimes im vs 2 people and i kill both alone while my team get rekt over and over. Getting teamed vs a full guild pre-made isnt fun either which happens so often. When your new system arrive it wont work as intended either because nothing you ever implement ever works. How is this fair to me, when i often can kill 2 players vs me, and still, my team cant cap 2 nodes while i have 2 people on me solo? Which eventually lead to lose streaks. Explain how this is fun to me? Explain how this will make me want to enter ranked? Even unranked has better players than ranked.

Ive tested your stupid system for the lolz the past 2 weeks. Entered with both guildies & duo & trio. Trio is the only thing that works so far because if i enter duo or solo i only get new pvp’ers that you anet think that i can carry…Obviously im a god…

That’s like saying I bought a video tape, and then got a copy of the same tape for free in another promotion. You’re not paying for it. Saying so doesn’t make it so.

To put it in perspective, virtually every game goes down in price 3 years after it’s launched. Some of them sell for 3 bucks on steam. Guild Wars 2, the original game, sold for $10 bucks several times. So the very MOST you’d be paying again is $10 bucks.

But the reality is, they’re including it free for business reasons. The price of the expansion hasn’t been raised to include it. It would be interesting to see if you can prove that it has been, because frankly, Anet is doing the same thing many major MMOs are doing…removing a barrier to entry for new people.

You can say it’s not happening in other places, but that also wouldn’t be true.

You are writing as a gw2 fanboy and as a white knight whereas I’ m writing as a customer. If I bought the game 50$ at launch why I should pay again for the CORE game?

I just won the Academy Gaming tournament for a second time playing ranger. Sure other classes bring more damage than ranger does, but a really good ranger can give mesmers and thieves a hard time.

I primarily pvp and WvW and keep hearing Rangers are pretty terrible. And I do see that they are under represented. In WvW I think I have really only seen maybe 10 other Rangers in the last 2 weeks.

I was told yesterday that most Ranger players are kittene but they still mostly win with LB and that is why people hate them.

I don’t really buy into the whole underpowered mind set but just curious where all this came from?

Just a minute ago in WvW on my guard, came across condi mesmer, I have 5 cleanses on this build I’m running with meds. Condi mesmer bombs me with 10 confusion and 9 torment in about 2 seconds then i cleared it and went after him, he stealths and comes back to apply another 8 stacks of confusion on me and 6 torment. This goes on 3 more times when I’ve used all my cleanses, 2/3 of those times i had double digits of torment and confusion applied to me in seconds. And now because I have no more clears I’m dodging trying to get away and in the end I died with 21 confusion stacks and 13 torment.

Talk about broken

And you play guardian. Immagine who plays ranger….
This game is far from being balanced. And many players are quitting it for this reason.
