lol “spirit watch”
stick to hotjoin and unranked with that build I guess.
why would u want cele on a backpiece?
there is no cele meta in PvE.
Oh noes, a PVP reward item requires….PVP, blasphemy!
Hey there, topic poster here. I’m kinda baffled at the negative responses in the thread. I’m also kind of shocked at the poor information people have regarding the actual achievement.
My problem with the legendary backpack is that the achievement makes it hard for players like me to get the “Hymn of Glory” from part 4 of the meta. But that’s it. That’s the only part of the back that’s difficult for me, and others like me I’d assume. Literally every other ingredient for the legendary back is easy to get as a casual.
I’ll have the precursor the week season 2 starts, as a casual. You get 55 tickets getting to ruby, still have 25 after buying 1st and 2nd skin, last 2 skins cost 70 tickets. 55 tickets at least per season also means I’ll have the 5 certificates of support I need for the back in season 3 at the latest. Been sitting on a perfect mist core and the pve ingredients for a month now. I’ve just finished part 2 of the “year” of the ascension today.
If the devs didn’t want casuals like me to get this thing, they would’ve locked it behind more serious pvp walls. They gated the glorious hero’s armor set, and I had no problem when I didn’t get one. That armor set was presented up front as a challenge for hardcore pvpers, while the backpack was presented as something anyone cold get eventually.
The only issue for casuals like me is the “league elite” achievement. That’s 1/11 of the achievement to get the hymn of glory. The hymn of glory is 1/4 of the gift of the competitor, which itself is 1/4 of the legendary back. Only 1/256 of the backpack has any sort of gating to it, and it’s only gated because of how unbalanced this season is.
In order to get the achievement “league elite” for part 4 of the legendary backpack you have to cross 4 division thresholds in one season. I read that as “beat 4 divisions in one season”. Not one year, one season. But we won’t really know until next season comes out.
I’m personally hopeful that the changes to season 2 alongside the balances incoming will make the next pvp league season better than this one. I’d say this thread is done for now, since the devs made changes for season 2, and we won’t know how it’ll turn out until then.
No you don’t, it was stated multiple times in this thread and on reddit. However, even if it does, getting diamond division isn’t THAT insane of a requirement, before the achievement details were known, plenty of people assumed getting legendary division would be a bare minimum requirement for the it.
Huh, all the girls’ 21st birthdays I’ve been to never spewed any transmutation charges at me
All it had was a bunch of jello shots, Taylor Swift music and a lot of wooing
*statistics in this scenario meaning whatever I want is obviously the majority opinion, despite evidence to the contrary.
it was removed because it made no sense for a death match map to be included in a conquest rotation.
a majority of builds in spvp weren’t meant to be used in a 5v5 match the entire game.
core specs were already ruined
I’m a 100% solo quer and made it to diamond tier, with win streak bonuses added in next season, getting past ruby for people shouldn’t be too big of a problem if you’re at least decent in 1 meta or semi meta class/build.
Since you play one you clearly dont see the problem with that statement. You basically just said it doesn’t matter how skilled anyone is, it still requires the class to compete. THAT is a huge issue in any game.
I play a DH, which is hardly meta nowadays, familiarity with the class trumps slightly better builds/classes. You don’t need to be elite skill wise to progress past ruby, especially next season after they add in win streak bonuses.
your reference looked otherwise by referring to the requirement of at least one meta class… i assume you play at least one. As you say DH is not that so… what do/did you play to get there if not the DH?
nothing, got diamond in about 350 games, played DH on 80-90% of it, played rev and mesmer for the meta achievement class wins for the other. Mostly i just tweaked my build to differ from the metabattles DH build to cover up some of its weaknesses at the cost of having a higher burst.
But which one did you use for Ruby and up? and i assume you did so in groups?
Any class can get to Ruby really i think, but getting beyond it is where it gets dicey.
I am half way thru Ruby doing it with about 75% DH and about 25% Druid with a Celes Avatar variation. My progress thru Ruby has required me to group with others to gain any real progress cause solo queue is to luck dependent on others in the party.
used exclusively DH from ruby, I only solo que.
unless spirit weapons are turned into trait passives, they’ll never overtake the usefulness of meditations
hammer needs to be fixed, looking at scrapper hammer vs guardian hammer makes me just hate everything.

a good scrapper can carry a solo que pug team better than any other class.

lol no, on foefire if your home node is getting rushed by say a DS ele or a druid, NOT +1ing the home capper to kitten stall at mid is freeloading.
there are situations where the rest of your team can handle a 3v4 or a 2v3 for long enough that you can quickly peel off to +1 to secure a kill/cap/decap throughout a game.
honestly with the power creep from the elite specs, if sword 3 is going to root you, the projectiles need to be homing and given 900 range.
looking at say, scrapper’s hammer skills makes guardian sword seem no better than PvE environmental weapons like broken glass/broken stick.
honestly, if you can’t even be bothered to do the bare minimum 3 ranked matches per day “casual means 1-3 per week… LOL” then pvp rewards isn’t the place for you.
forget crossing divisions, this guy’s definition of his own play style would make it impossible for him to even finish the “win x ranked matches a day” achievement, let alone complaining about being stuck in emerald/sapphire.
warriors are viable yes, but everything a warrior can do, another class can do it much better.
still, in the hands of anyone experienced enough with the class, “viable” is perfectly good enough for solo que play.
got to diamond division in roughly 350 games playing somewhat casual solo que, played 80% of the games on DH, rest split between rev and mesmer (mostly for the meta achievement)
I’ve found more success playing a slightly tankier version than the metabattles meditrapper, using shelter instead of purification and durability runes instead of pack or trapper.
Honestly, if Anet simply added evasion to Wings of Resolve (and have its leap distance not be affected by cripple/chill/slow etc) I’d be completely satisfied with just that as our ground target peel/chase

have 2/3 professions done on Ascension III, will probably save the 3rd profession after season restarts in amber/early emerald.
skill 5, skill 2, dodge twice, take 0 damage, let moa expire :P
topic
any build currently in the meta or close to meta terms can counter a DS tempest tank without needing to 2v1 for longer than 2 mins?
why are you using remove condi on block trait over heavy light?
again, EVERY class now counters a mes when he has to use well of precoc since it doesn’t contribute to cap now.
so why are you bringing up well of precoc as a point of contention to me saying DH has unblockable interrupts to counter mesmer?
bunker mes actually gets countered somewhat by DH because of our access to unblockable interrupts.
Well he can insta-blink after the pull and F1 won’t work during precoc well if I’m not mitaken. To call that a counter would be quite generous ^^
why would u have to worry about countering well of precoc nowadays? the mes is just decapping himself when he uses it.

how much artificial inflation of MMR can there be to prop up a 5 man guild group that are all ruby vs 5 random solo ques that are also all ruby to STILL suggest we should be favored vs them?
I’ve had matches before as a solo que where I GAINED a pip by playing a close 450+ point loss vs 3-4 man premades.
all I’m saying is given the circumstances, a mmr system where a full guided team in the same division as a full opposing solo que group shouldn’t result in matches where the solo que is STILL favored by 20-30% (or however much based on that pip loss/gain chart)
no one is saying rampage is weak, its still by far the most devastating and game changing elite skill in the game, even after the nerf and post HoT.
its just while rampage is in CD, the war is a walking meat shield vs most meta builds.
I fought a warr using old spec, and he kicked my kitten , his attacks were well timed and faster than my cast times for most of my skills. Warrs are deadly in the right hands.
and in the next 180 secs, he’ll be useless and a sitting duck while waiting for rampage to recharge :P
Burn guard gets hard countered by 60% of the meta builds. DH at least stands somewhat of a chance vs anything other than a tempest.
(both sides full ruby)
might want to take another look at that pip loss/gain chart Anet…
full solo que vs 5 man premade guild group (both sides full ruby), score 480 and still results in a pip loss?
DH is a force multiplier and especially punishing vs teams that do not have a tempest.
2 good DH working in synergy together can wreck entire 3-5 man groups that aren’t bunkered properly.
the problem is that everyone and their aunt runs double tempest in pvp nowadays.
ruby isn’t better, it turns full aids with people running 4-5 bunker builds per team
2 days into ruby so far and I want to gouge my eyes out playing solo que vs the 2-3 tempest 2-3 mes comps
you played against 2 bunker tempest and 2 bunker druids on foefire
/thread
because I couldn’t make a monk
Just curious what your saying here. Your team looks like it was trying to lower their ELO by bringing in low level plebs. It didnt work and you got wrecked. What were you expecting?
Might wanna take a better look next time LOL
Perhaps you should,. Where in his post did he specify Solo que for everyone?
it was better when you didn’t say anything and people merely assumed you have no idea what you’re talking about than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Maybe it’s time to use the boon strip sigil.
LOL because that clearly is the solution.
those are simply the components for the precursor
when 200k is on the line, no one is stupid enough to just “not play” on account of an unfun meta.
team rage quit out of a game?
Had this meta been around while The Dark Knight was being made, Heath Ledger wouldn’t have had to OD on sleeping pills
…RIP
ladies and gentlemen this is your esports meta….
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
getting rank 20 is the PvE equivalent of earning 5 gold…
just play normally and you’ll get it without going out of your way to farm for it.
I’ve been running a condi build on my revenant since the BWE3 changes(clearly I loved it). I don’t use Shiro because it really doesn’t offer much in the way of conditions. So, I run herald for the extra burning skill as well as the might stacking. Other than those two things(and the strong knockback from Glint’s elite for breakbars) I primarily stay in Mallyx as that is where most of my damage comes from and, like you mentioned, the elite skill is a toggle so I can keep Diabolic Inferno on cooldown. Here’s my rotation, for the most part:
Start the fight in Glint stacking as much might as possible using Mace/Axe; Initiate with Elemental Blast(Facet of Elements active); toggle and activate One With Nature; swap to Mallyx; toggle Embrace the Darkness; cast Unyielding Anguish; cast Searing Fissure; cast Echoing Eruption; if EtD hasn’t depleted your energy by now to turn itself off, toggle it off yourself; cast Temporal Rift; cast Searing Fissure; toggle Embrace the Darkness on; cast Echoing Eruption; cast Searing Fissure; if EtD hasn’t depleted your energy by now to turn itself off, toggle it off yourself; etc. etc.
At some point you’ll want to make sure you swap back to Glint to re-stack some might and cast Elemental Blast, but, as I said, I pretty much stay in Mallyx. So, based on my rotation, I would prioritize as follows:
1. Diabolic Inferno – You can’t forget to keep toggling Embrace the Darkness to proc this. Since we don’t have a visible cd for this, it’s just going to take some practice.
2. Searing Fissure – This skill has an extremely short cooldown. In fact, it’s short enough to where you can keep the fire field up with maybe a half-second of downtime between fields. But aside from not forgetting EtD for Diabolic Inferno, this skill is what allows you to maintain any semblance of burning stacks. If the boss is moving and not staying in the field to stack the burning, that’s ok because the torment you’ve been stacking is now dealing double damage.
3. Echoing Eruption/Temporal Rift – Aside from your AA, the Corruption spec line(Rampant Vex – first minor slot), and EtD, these two skills are your primary source of maintaining stacks of torment. Both skills need to be kept on cooldown, so energy management is going to be key if you want to consistently cast Temporal Rift(it’s a 5 skill and those typically have longer cooldowns).
4. Elemental Blast – This is just another source of burning. You may think that Mallyx is all about the torment, and you’re not completely wrong, but a HUGE part of your damage comes from burning. You can’t forget to switch to Glint for this skill and the might.
5. Unyielding Anguish – This skill is only this low on the list due to its energy cost. It’s incredibly strong and should be used if you’re ever around or above 50% energy. Before I started focusing on maintaining my burning stacks, I was solely focused on my torment stacks. Using this skill I’ve actually been able to maintain a higher average of torment stacks than EtD. At one point I think I was hitting close to 5k dmg per tick while the boss was stationary. But I was hardly stacking burning and my damage was suffering.
That’s what I’ve found the most successful for condi-rev. It’s important to note, though, that this is for PvE only. I don’t claim to know about PvP, sorry. But, for what I use it for, this spec is fun as kitten, and I can pump out some pretty awesome damage if I’m focused. The only problem with condi-rev, though, is if you compare it to any other condi-friendly class(engis, rangers, necros, etc.) it’s utterly dwarfed. Honestly the traits(and the heal, frankly) that pertain to conditions you have on yourself need to be updated so they’re more appropriate for the current state of the specialization.
Hopefully this was helpful!

the point of Shiro is so you can actually do something vs diamond skin eles
(also the on demand superspeed and practically infinite dodges)
glint doesn’t offer anything extra that mallyx or your weapon set can’t already do other than the OP heal, which you shouldn’t really need if you play correctly.
full solo que with 2 emeralds vs 2 duo ques and full sapphire, one of our teammates quits halfway through, we lose 500-200, I get hit with a 2 pip loss.
yea ok Anet
