With PoF being on a way shorter release schedule than HoT’s launch, will we see any balance changes to the elite specs before launch?

The change to Radiance is all sorts of fun, I just wish we had a dps alternative to Valkyrie, something like power, ferocity and condi damage.
I did make some valkyrie gear for open world, and I hope they fix the retaliation trait on firebrand, because it wasn’t working with the heal’s mantra charges.
Until they buff Guardian’s base HP, no amulet w/o at least +560 to vitality will work in sPvP
Because the PvE forum cares more about things like Firebrand tomes looking visually impressive like the old tomes instead of their viability in actual gameplay.
If you want to reward player skill, then how about also require aiming for every single skill in the game and turn this into a FPS?
There’s a difference between player skill and bad design. Tell me what exactly is the skill in standing behind your allies within sword auto attack range to use your elite mantra to break stun vs standing slightly in front of them?
If your allies happens to have moved half a second to the side before you? Well I guess I wasn’t effing skilled enough to predict when he would move and to what side?
I can get by the cones being just a little bit wider and work on small elevation.
But please for the love of god, stop complaining about the mantra’s as a whole, they are designed to be this preparation spell that you can use multiple times, there is no reason for you to spam all 3, just stick to using 2 charges max and you will never ever have to recast that mantra…
And if you do want to use the 3rd charge, then you actually get cooldown reduction at the cost of having to recast it, let me clarify:
The healing mantra has a 12sec recharge on it’s charges meaning in total you would need 36sec to fully recharge 3, the cooldown on the healing mantra itself is only 30sec and the cast time 2.5sec, meaning you actually GAINED 3.5seconds of cooldown, since when you recast the mantra all 3 charges will be up again.Also, just live with the fact that a Chrono is the master of Quickness and Alacrity, you know what FB can do as one of the only classes/specs? Give a kitten-ton of Aegis and other defensive buffs. Really, the amount of Aegis you can pump out with the right traits is insane.
Nobody is complaining about Mantras as an mechanic or the ammo system.
ALL of the complaints have been about their subpar final charge and unusable cone shaped range.
My suggestion is this:
Make the Mantra trait give you pulsing swiftness when you have a charged Mantra (Extend the range per charged Mantra so it actually works as a group support trait, 120 AoE around yourself per Mantra)
Firebrand:
- Mantras need their functionality completely changed, 300 range cone shape simply does not work in a live setting where you aren’t wailing a DPS golem.
- The Axe is very clunky, the symbol has way too long of a cast time and doesn’t even grant any boons.
- Tomes having cast time simply does not work
- The class overall suffers from the same issues as base guardian that has been covered up by the DH Longbow and virtues: serious lack of mobility/disengage and no ranged options for damage or support (see 300 range cone shaped Mantras)

I dont think, that condi is that bad. I can get 20 stacks of fire on the enemy in like 1-2 seconds. I tried to spike with the guard here my results:
You can get that much burning with core guard and DH too, except you live longer.
FB’s biggest problem is that you have no “oh-kitten button” or combo besides Renewed Focus that can help you survive a spike and/or disengage.
Edison’s armor was obviously weakened from carrying Zorh all season.
If something requires mandatory quickness just so it can feel slightly not sluggish, then it is an effing terrible skill to begin with.
This thread is proof that people that spout their kitten in here do not play the game at all.
Firebrand mantras and books are insanely powerful and will be severely nerfed in the coming weeks.
With no stability and long cast times, how are mantras and toms extremely powerful? Sure in a fight where you don’t get focused it does damage but any remote focus and you’re history.
It’s extremely powerful vs the DPS Golems that don’t move or hit back.
Then don’t use Firebrand in PvP/WvW? That is perfectly ok to so and is ArenaNets design intention.
Make an entire elite spec.
Don’t use it in 66% of the game modes.

Actually, all i want from Firebrand is the Loremaster GM trait be converted over into a DH GM trait.
That’s all I want.

The mantras would be 100% better if they simply turned into shouts with no ammo but only the last charge effect with 600 AoE radius.
Firebrand Mantras
You’ll be gods in Sabetha, Gors and Xera.
Then do nothing vs the other raid bosses that require more than standing in melee range.
I’m seeing a lot of people complaining about Mantras when they are not even using them properly lol.
Maybe the Firebrand isn’t meant for PvP? Not all elite specs are made for every game mode. Firebrand is insanely overpowered right now and extremely fun to play.
It’s fast, flows extremely well, Mantras are fun, burn guard is insane, i don’t understand the complaints, we are gods right now, instead of complaining and asking for buffs you should begging the devs not to nerf us into the ground.

Right now NOTHING about the entire elite spec feels “smooth” or “clean” besides the visuals.
Mantras are a hot mess, what exactly is their purpose? Are you suppose to face tank enemies with them being basically sword auto attacks? Or are you suppose to position yourself exactly half a step behind allies to buff them?
Tomes have charges…and cast time…and cooldown all rolled into one, and if you happen to accidentally slow a tome, you’ve basically wasted 30 secs of 5 skills. Either make them Kits or rework them, they’re currently kitten and are jack of no trades master of zilch.
This feels worse than the DH Longbow on Beta weekend 1 when auto attacks and spear of virtue could be auto strafed from 600 range.

Yea these still aren’t fixed, on top of that, Eternal Armory is bugged again.
Its more broken when you use signet of judgment, basically a free 69% damage reduction
I think you’re entirely underestimating the impact the GM trait Loremaster will have on overall group and personal DPS
Zealous Scepter only grants might to non scepter weapons when Permeating Wrath is also traited.
Spirit Weapons are not scaling with power.
In PvE I expect FB could be completely DPS oriented
In the new benchmarks qT released, Guardians are already pushing tempest for close to #1 DPS on large hitboxes, Viper FB utilizing Zeal/Radiance/FB should easily outdamage the current power spec

I don’t mind the cast time but the one change suggest is make them ground target AoEs instead of requiring targets.
They’re not pets anymore, they’re just fancier looking AoE attacks, at least let us ground target them

in all likelyhood, axe/torch and either scepter/torch or sword / torch 2ndary will be the best pve damage weapon set in a raid setting
Currently its bugged so it doesn’t dish out the VoJ procs like it should, gonna do more testing to see what a fixed version can do.
But as far as power spec goes, ToF is still better imo because of the no cast time.

The medi skills needs no touching outside of maybe merciful intervention.
Shouts however need some serious buffing besides (reduce cooldown by 2 seconds)
In the earliest version of base GW, Guards had the same health pool as warriors and the testers collectively lost their kitten because of how tanky it was.
So it was nerfed to the lowest health pool in the betas and remained so ever since.
In pve permeating wrath with the loremaster GM trait is going to be so much cancer aids

A full burn guard also has next to zero stunbreak/stability. CC it outside of block and they’re easy kills
We need another viable long range weapon after the repeated nerfing of LB into the ground.
Gimme a rifle guardian spec called something like Sentry that focuses on CC/Buffs (like pre-nerfed Ana from OW)

fwiw the braindead menders symbol build still works just fine as a kitten point decapper/staller.
They’re just buttering us up with the nerfs before the expac for Firebrand to seem stupidly OP
