Not enough “thanks” go out to the ANet guys I think. I gave a lot of negative feedback when HoT came out and am happy to see they’re turning things around.
That said, in NA, the server tiers have been shaken up greatly and I’m loving seeing different servers to fight more often. I’m on Blackgate and we’ve been fighting Jade Quarry and Yaks bend for god knows how long, now we’re getting Dragonbrand and TC in the mix too. It has been a lot of fun seeing some different servers without having to transfer around.
Very interesting that Yaks Bend and Jade Quarry have dropped to Tier 2 after being in tier 1 for so long as well.
JQ yes, but Yaks hasn’t been in T1 that long compared to the other traditional T1 servers. Six months at the most maybe ?
But we (Yaks Bend) were winning almost every single week. I actually stopped playing WvW because some weeks we would be 80k points ahead of BG.
As was stated earlier, YB lost a few guilds to TC that inevitably led to a drop to Tier 2. Currently we are beating JQ and FA, but it’s a lot more evenly matched than the blowouts that were happening vs BG after the guilds transferred. I could head to EB in primetime and we were outnumbered because we were losing so bad that no one bothered to play. I think the new matchups have been working much better so far and I’ve had some really fun smaller scale battles with FA and JQ. I, for one, hope these tier shakeups continue.
bragging about beating BG when it isn’t seasons or when there’s nothing on the line just proves how green you are to T1.

May be for conquest maps (which are boring anyway) but the likes of wvw roaming and even champions dusk, power builds are still very strong

Every class gets pigeonholed into a specific meta build. Every one. You had a non-meta build receiver dps nerfs when the dps of that weapon is terrible in pve anyway. Rifle got absolutely destroyed for warriors in every aspect of play, but we aren’t crying that our fringe-novelty builds got ruined and we’re now garbage.
Revenant is still a top-2 class in sPvP, viable as any class in wvw, and an excellent support in pve. You’re in a perfectly fine spot in every aspect of the game. Stop being greedy at the expense of everyone else.

Gunflame got a 20% damage nerf too and they removed the pierce effect, all this for a skill that is actually gated behind double CDs and requires adrenaline to use.
True Shot is a 4s cd skill that still pierces and does basically the same damage.
I’d say that comparatively TS got off light.If you want Guard buffs, True Shot is not where you should ask them. That skill was massively overperforming and the nerf was 100% needed.
I’d like to see more constructive feedback and suggestions from Guards instead of just “revert the changes” because that won’t happen.
Also please stop with the meta talk. There are 9 classes and 5 spots on a team, all classes can’t be meta at the same time and you shouldn’t balance the class towards that. That just adds to the powercreep.
guardians don’t bother giving proper feedback with how to fix base guardians anymore because Anet has been ignoring it for 2 years.
every “buff” patch to guardians has been “reduce CD by 5 seconds” or “add 1 extra second of retaliation” or “remove 1 extra condition” type changes that literally took the entirety of 1 lunch break to write on a napkin.
Even with the unnerfed true shot, hunter’s ward AND the buffed deflecting shot and symbol of energy damage as well as the base guardian shout and virtues buff, guardians still wouldn’t be anywhere close to a top 4 class.
At best, it’d be a viable 5th and that’s its absolute ceiling.

Druid is still a very top tier pick as a side-node fighter and an off-support, beating out Scrappers in sustain and utility and being able to cap Chronos 1v1. Playing druids as resbots last season was extremely weak and really underdeveloped as a one trick pony (see Alkores appearance for Vermillion, I think in week 1 or 2)
Not really sure where you heard that it’ll be ele/druid/engi core. More like Ele/Druid/Chrono. The other 2 slots are still up in the air. A lot of teams are trying different things (Rev/Thief or Rev/War or Rev/Necro, Rev most often is still part of the meta comp though, at least for now)

My fault, you’re right, I sort of forgot their team comp since it isn’t worthwhile to watch them anymore on stream. I just remember phanta plays mesmer now, chaith is forever engi, toker is rev, and Nos is trying out Druid but more than likely will return to necro.
Their fifth is Wakkey still right? I guess that would mean ele or engi, and since you can’t class stack, ele.

The thing that needs un-nerfing is the Hunter’s Ward skill function change.

In 1v1 I usually start in shiro with staff. I bait out the opening bursts and port to after they blow a few skills. Thieves I start in glint since the reveal makes me tingle with joy when they drop a SR and end up revealed in it.

mighty blow is fine, but the JI interaction needs to be reverted
number 3 skill is absolutely horrible, not only does it move slower than molasses, is only a thin narrow line, but it can actually be reflected back by projectile hate.
banish needs faster casting and shorter recharge
ring of warding needs to be able to be used while moving.
with the stability changes favoring the counter CC, please consider reverting the nerfs to DH Hunter’s Ward, Lines/Rings of Warding and Static Field.

pro league season 2 has no class stacking rules and guardian has never been used ONCE (outside of 1 time from a team that was scrambling to fill a roster and ended up playing non meta classes for fun not on TS) while 4 classes were locked in meta and the 5th/6th slot being fluid between druid and scrapper.
Twice. But I’m glad they did it, those were the 2 best match-ups I’ve seen all season. I’m rooting for them now.

With Assassin’s Annihilation currently bugged to deal 600% of its intended damage (over 900% in PvE), Rev hammer auto attacks hits harder than True Shots as long as its hitting from the side/behind.

It hits for about 2k damage (2032) when hitting enemies w/ projectiles. (precision strike, warding rift, hammer auto attack)
It also ignores the flanking part of the trait description, you can still life steal even if hitting them from the front.

under full food/oil buffs and 25 stacks of might
the bugged assassin’s annihilation trait deals 3.5k life steal damage (doesn’t heal for that much) with every projectile attack hitting enemies from the side/behind.

dragon hunter was a bottom 3 spec that got nerfed further away from the meta, it wasn’t “brought down” to equal playing field. it was a 6/10 class that got nerfed down to a 4.5
and no, there isn’t any other viable, at least competitive builds outside of literally the exact same meditrapper build from last season, its simply only 70% as effective now.
there isn’t one single aspect in spvp that DH is the best at, not a single one, anything the DH can do, there is another class capable of doing it much more efficiently, hell we don’t even hard counter thieves the best anymore.
complete overhaul of the radiance tree, currently the minor traits in radiance doesn’t even proc with DH virtues.
give guardians acess to more than just burning as a damage dealing condition.
give guardians access to more than just light fields, or change the way finishers interact with it.
symbols…have it actually mean something when fighting non AI, its completely overtuned in high end pve as a necessity for damage and also completely useless in wvw and spvp.
revert ward skills back to pre-patch status ASAP, they are NOT AN ISSUE to deal with after the changes to stability. staff 5 and hammer 5 were already inferior skills on inferior weapons to begin with, they did not need double nerfing.
buff guardian sustain substantially so our healing isn’t 100% reliant on burst heals like wings of resolve and purification that allows us to reset a fight twice then die immediately after 3 healing cooldown skills are used. nerf the burst healing about on purification as a trade off if needed but we absolutely NEED more sustain.
stop having every single weapon root us, this isn’t vanilla launch anymore, sword #3 does NOT warrant a channel, and speaking of sword 3, seriously? a projectile destruction skill that can actually be REFLECTED by other projectile hate skills?
on the same note, STOP giving us projectile finishers on EVERY SINGLE one of our viable pvp weapons, hell even the sword auto attack can be reflected by projectile hate, literally wtf?
change how renewed focus interacts with monk’s focus trait, the healing needs to be applied at the start of the RF channel, not 3 seconds after the channeling completes.
fix DH virtues so that they no longer go on full cooldown when interrupted, which also in the same vein, how is it that shield of courage, even when traited as a stunbreak stability boon giving skill, CAN STILL BE INTERRUPTED?
make smite condition unblockable…hear me out on this one, guardians have stopped using shelter as a healing skill altogether outside of WvW simply because when traited with smiter’s boon, the skill gets interrupted SO MANY times by shocking aura and goes on full cooldown that it has made one of the staple guardian skills from launch completely unviable now.
change heavy light’s functionality to give deflecting shot knockback instead of random knockbacks every 10 seconds…opponents do not like random CCs and neither do we guardians, give us some semblance of control over when we get to CC in a fight and deflecting shot isn’t exactly the easiest skill to land, the change is actually a nerf (which you guys are fond of doing to us)
change symbol of energy into an instant cast skill like symbol of swiftness, if you indeed intend for this skill to become the replacement or supplement true shot’s 20% damage nerf, change it to something that moves a bit faster than just a bigger scepter auto attack orb
protection is fine
perma protection is NOT fine
perma protection granting 40% damage reduction being spammed is DEFINITELY not fine.
