A good thief on the right map is great. (Please don´t use thief on foefire …).
Bad or average thiefs that insist playing it on foefire or don´t care for their team bring the bad press to the class.Please explain why thief on foefire is bad?
foefire has very little cover and a ranged class standing on ledge can guard 2 nodes at once and can see a thief coming from a mile away.
and since the rush distance between spawn and the nodes are so far away, it gives just about every class defending home enough time to respond to a thief before the thief can decap.
The sustain that is being referred to comes from blocks and evades. Revenants have in general poor self-healing capabilities to compensate the sustain from active defenses (+damage reductions).
Would you mind being specific what blocks and evades I should be using?
For reference, right now I am:
sword/axe (with hammer on swap for range)
full berserker gearassassin/herald legends
fwiw when people talk about “revenant sustain”, they’re talking about in spvp, they’re not talking about in PvE where you might accidentally take too large of a hit from a veteran arrowhead.

that and in this game there are things called “nodes” where the ranged classes must get to eventually instead of camping at 1200 range all day.
zealot’s defense roots you in place and can in fact be reflected back by projectile reflectors…
guardian has been out of the meta for longer than warriors
shiro stance impossible odds and sword auto is the quickest cleave in the game.
engineer slick shoes destroys more stacks of stab than hunter’s ward
Necro is strong because of nerfs to ele, mesmer, and warrior. To some extant revs as well.Those classes were necros primary counters. That they are all weaker now, while necros remain mostly unchanged, means that necros have much less to fear. Even guards switching from bunker/support to damage helped necros.
Tbh meditrapper DH is about as close to a hardcounter to reapers as there is this season.

If we can’t get land spears and can’t keep longbows, I wouldn’t mind a rifle condi spec that focuses less on burst and more on sustained damage.
guardians can’t go back to using scepter as the only viable ranged weapon, it just can’t.
the next elite spec will HAVE to be another ranged weapon, or the next expansion will need to allow guardians to use longbows without speccing into DH (just the weapon skills, no benefit of DH virtues or traits).
A good thief is worth their weight in gold, a bad thief is also worth their weight in gold…for the other team.
With a good thief, your team can feel like you’re playing 6v5. A bad one however, is like you’re 4v6ing.

I have been stuck ever since hitting tier 4 of saphire. I have played at least 50 games and can’t get out.
well…you run just about the worst DH build i’ve ever seen so yea…
literally 0 out of the 5 utility skills on your bar should be used.
I guess that depends on what variation of meditrapper you run, if you run dragon’s maw then the fight is tougher and you have less room for mistakes but if you run 2 meditations and RF with a sigil of generosity in LB, the fight is extremely easy with full cooldowns.
a reaper’s dps rotation is extremely simple and they have virtually 0 active defenses to speak of, unless they avoid F1 with a lucky dodge, they’re pretty much sitting ducks to eat all of our damage.
our biggest issue is the AoE reflect/negation fields being spammed out by tempests and scrappers in the form of magnetic aura, swirling winds and bulwark gyro.
we actually fare pretty well both 1v1 and team fight wise with every other class. But since tempests are tier 0 meta by default and scrappers aren’t that far behind them, we’re relegated to picking side fights or hoping to avoid 3 of the “meta” builds altogether (tempest, scrapper, power rev)
The only thing about DH that is miles ahead of rangers/druids in is fighting reapers.
Pretty much just play as defensive as you can and space out your healing CDs and make sure to never eat a full sword 2 or staff 5, then hope they make a mistake and eat a hunter’s ward when your F3 shield is up or run multiple times across ToF.
Power rev is not a match guardians can handle all that well, you have to be a good 2-3 notches about them in skill to win.
We don’t need to trait for Hunter’s fort to beat reapers, as long as F1 pull and Shield of Courge or Renewed Focus are off CD, there’s very little a reaper can do if you play the engagement correct.
Poke them a few times with auto, bait out a dodge, F1 them into ToF, pop F3 when they shroud charge into us, swap to sword to burst for 10 secs, F2 to leap out and pew pew them down.
Unless they get unlucky with a Executioner’s Scythe on F3 Shield or Purification, I’ve yet to lose to a reaper since figuring out how to fight them in Ruby after seeing 4 of them per match.
Just hit legend, diamond tier 5-7 was a 3 week long grind. Ruby was relatively smooth.
This meta is definitely a lot more forgiving towards DH/Guards than season 1 was. Not many people know this but Meditrapper DH is pretty much a hardcounter to Reapers with marauder amulet.
Guardian is definitely viable as a 5th, just avoid the 1v1s with scrappers and power revs and don’t linger too long in team fights with a tempest.

at mid/low diamond, at least your entire team and the opposing team are mostly all actively trying to win.
at t6/t7 diamond, there could be as many as half the people involved in a match not even trying to win.
The forums is a very very small sample of the community and player base.
people need to stop saying/believing this rhetoric already, its 2016 for gods sake, the internet isn’t some extremely technical and inaccessible thing that only the pocket protector wearing geeks uses. I can guarantee you just about 100% of the active player base in GW2 has heard about the discontinuation/indefinite suspension of legendary weapons by now.
a DH that can’t burst is like a thief that can’t dodge in this meta.

shelter is so bad in this meta and can be interrupted by so many sources leaving you with no heal and full cooldown that anyone with even 10 hrs of guardian experience has swapped over to purification.

The first question anyone on a team asks when they see the group has no ele and the other team has one is (or even if the other team doesn’t have one) “anyone got an ele to swap to?”

And this is because as an ele you might play godly but still you are not good enough to kill a medium meta necro, engi, revenant, guardian etc. and everyone knows that.
So you’re admitting that scepter ele has no chance to beat the other 1v1 classes, so why do you bother playing it and putting your team at a disadvantage every time? Scrapper does everything better than a scepter ele.
and a focus ele does everything better than a mace guardian, what exactly is that suppose to prove?

eles carry just about every match in this meta, if you’re being asked to change on ele you’re playing the class wrong.
teams with an ele and a reaper rarely loses to teams without both.
shield 5, swap to lb, wait 3 seconds, channel skill 2 into JI and ToF, then F1 then and drag them back into ToF
pretty much a 100-0 burst if it all hits on a non tempest protection booned target.

They’re being actively worked on. Once our tools are back up, I’ll be updating the Known Issue Tracker and putting this bug into “verifying” status, meaning we think we’ve found a fix and are testing it.
don’t buy it, there are major blocker level bugs on the last 2 episodes, seeds of truth and point of no return that prevents you from even finishing the story.
it was first brought up 11 months ago and still haven’t been fixed yet.
Or just tweet at enough “famous” GW2 youtubers to get them to make a video about the bug, that seems to get things working faster than average players complaining for 11 months.
As-is in pro leagues, teams are not stacking any classes, definitely not necros. If you want to talk about op, think in the past when teams stacked mes, eles, or in recent memory revs. So while yes it’s annoying to see so many reapers in unranked/ranked. Truth is they aren’t too strong to stack them, otherwise pro league teams would be stacking them.

courtyard was a spammy kittenfest even before the power creep of HoT.

if the DH is traited for immob on wings of resolve then his non dragon’s maw traps don’t do any CC.
the bunker ele is a symptom of the reaper condi spam meta.
reapers are so rampant that on average every match has like 2+ reapers on either team, so the build that can deal/mitigate the reapers is by default the most valuable.
tone down the condi/boon spam is the first step.
you’re playing revenant wrong if you think its one of the weaker classes.
what? not losing much mmr by losing to higher ranked opponents and losing a good amount by losing to lower ranked opponents is how EVERY match making algorithm works, in every game/sport/competition.

for the role that guardians need to play in this meta (decent/mediocre roamer mix between rev and thief) sword is absolutely the best weapon
