Berserker is still viable. It is still the best damage. But people bigged it up to be something that it never was. Before the patch, after the patch, it’s just a viable raw damage build that does exactly what you want it to.
Others want to try other things such as supporting the party or bypassing defences with conditions. These were also viable. Just because you don’t see a 10 digit number on the enemy doesn’t mean it didn’t do its job. It just served a different purpose.
The sooner you all learn there is no one true build, there is no one true path to the same outcome, the sooner you’ll all become better, more adaptable players and will stop saying the sky is falling every time someone takes 15% off your damage.
Good to see ANet doing the right thing instead of the popular thing for once.
“because the right thing is the thing I say it is”
And how else do you define the right thing? What you say it is instead of them?
Yes it’s been nerfed. No it’s not worthless as it still outdamages everything else.
And now you still have ascended stats on your back while they don’t. And if you’re thinking “I don’t know if I should take them into my dungeon because they have on average 5% less damage than they would have if they DID have an ascended back” then that problem’s still with you.
You have lost nothing.
No. You still have those fractal backs. It’s only the skin that’s now account wide.
If you’re worried about who earned the skin, do they have it? Yes? They earned it.
It’s true that champ farming is by a wide margin not the best way to make gold
For the haters of the champ trains, that raise their pitch forks thinking they ruin the economy, I give you this quote. It’s from the games own economist.
Then nothing of value was lost.
I just wanted to say that I understand each and every decision made for every aspect of the game
Would you please explain Rune of Speed to me then?
Hint: I don’t understand why a rune set that gives a 25% passive movement speed boost needs a swiftness bonus.
Ready? Ok…GO!
Swiftness is 33% run speed. You probably didn’t know that otherwise you wouldn’t have asked.
You guys that are exclaiming “Good!” might not be so happy if this makes t6 mats, cores and lodestones increase in price since people won’t be opening near as many boxes. :P
Yes I will. Increase the price! Make it skyrocket! Now this is even BETTER news!
Wow… I cant believe people are actually against compensation.
Just imagine you spent hundreds of hours on something, and after you conplete it, it’s pretty much deleted.
This game is about skins, no one would spend 1000s of gols on a legendary just to get ascended stats and a free ‘stat selector’. With the wardrobe its very easy to just buy an exotic for 3 gold, conpared to the 1500 gold some spent on their second legendary.
There’s really no reason to be against a refund, except for jealousy.
Terrible argument. It’s an online game. One day it WILL be deleted. If that’s your biggest fear that everything you do on the internet will one day be deleted, find a real life hobby with solid objects.
Can’t delete table top gaming.
The wardrobe… Is not. It basically gives that second skin FOR FREE without anything else. It takes a minute to buy an exotic, go to the transmute screen, and click apply. Compare that to the hundreds of hours you spend on making a legendary.
You “earned” the rights to that skin once. We both know there’s nothing legendary involved in making a legendary. There’s no skill involved. There is no challenge. Just money.
You should be thanking them that they’re saving you the effort a second or third time and now even your level 1 character can be equipped with a legendary skin.
A free legendary implies that because you’ve unlocked it, I can get it too. It wasn’t free.
If a legendary took skill, you’d revel in it and embrace having the skin for all your characters. We both know it’s only money. That’s why you’re asking money in return.
(edited by Darkobra.6439)
It’s called jealousy and envy and those who don’t have a legendary are mad at those who do because of those two things.
Same thing with money in the real world. Everyone wants it and the minute you have more than them they hate you.
Maybe around your age, yeah. Most people grow out of it.
What lack of empathy. I doubt anyone would be saying these things if they did it themselves.
I make two legendaries. This patch hits. I have two legendaries. I have lost nothing.
Compensate for what? You got EXACTLY what you paid for.
So you made 2 Incinerators. Both of them were bound when you equipped them. You didn’t care, because you did ALL that work just to have a matching offhand, and didn’t care about changing stats.
Well now you have the ability to have 1 Incinerator on Thief, and now that second one can be put on your Ele. You couldn’t do that before but now BOTH characters can have a main Legendary, which you can change stats on. Guess what else you can do? Now you can get 2 more skins from the wardrobe to skin your offhand exotic/ascended to match.
Only play 1 dagger class?
You still have 2 stat-swappable daggers that are account bound should you decide to create another dagger wielding character, and now have the skin to apply infinitely to any other dagger, ever.. Also even if you keep them to dual wield it’s STILL easier than crafting another Ascended dagger if you ever decided to switch build/stats because the work is already done to account for ANY weapon stat you want, AND you don’t need to reskin it and waste a transmutation charge.
I just don’t feel like chanting “refund” is warranted.
This says everything that needs to be said.
What happens if you have the lowest worth legendary in duplicate?
Jackpot for them, endless forum entertainment for me.
People need to stop worrying about the free charges. Anet stated that they will remain free until Wednesday at 11:59 PM PST. What does that mean? That the time stated is 38 hours away from this time of posting… So calm down.
38 hours away from your post? Great! I’ll log in now since your post gives free charges.
They’re doing a quick WoW raid before they do the patch updates.
Usually Wednesdays.
They said 3/15/14 – and usually 12:00 PM PST USA time.
They say a lot of things that usually fall short of expectations.
Usually Wednesdays.
I’d actually be more interested in a “number of patches” guess game rather than a “size of patch” guess game
That DOES sound more fun.
6. One release, 5 bug fixes.
I find 2 things funny: people still think warriors are #1 DPS and that people think the OP isn’t making a parody post.
I’m begging you all. Please look at this post more closely.
Hanlon’s Razor comes to mind.
“Unviable” to any warrior in any game means “I don’t do number 1 DPS. I now do number 2.”
Should the game change or should you?
If I remember right from GW1, the size of a patch varies person to person for many reasons. It depends on areas previously visited, it depends on background downloads, it depends on when you last played, what files you already have that need changing, what files you DON’T have. This is because Guild Wars only downloads the client and a few functional files and you download more files every time you load a map. When that map changes, you need to redownload it.
Now it’s not much of a difference. I could be getting 800MB, someone else could be getting 1.2GB. To give you a cut and dry number of what the patch is will be hard enough. To give you a number of what the patch WILL be? Nobody knows.
Trinity sux.First of all it takes you lots of time to find pt,some people dont have entire days to play games, they have jobs…and other things to do and cant spend 3h waithing for pt and then doing long raid dungeons like kids do in WOW.Second thing is that trinity promote 1 class wile degrade others. In every MMORPG i play i was always called “useless” cause i was playing assassins class and they are always less needed in raids.People dont want trinity back, thats all that there is.
A lot of adults can manage their time to work during the day, spend time with their families and fit in an hour of gaming at night. It’s not unheard of. If you’re unable to, you’re doing something wrong or you’re just theorising of what it must be like to have a job.
Why do you need to play the update the second it comes out? If anything, be glad you DON’T get the chance to. ArenaNet will always, always release a buggy patch that takes a few days to fix.
hope is the correct place
Neither the breast nor your post seem to be in the right place. Post here for character and clipping issues:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Issues-with-character-art-weapons-or-armor-2
Advice like that encourages double posting. Just let the mods be mods.
This is a perfectly valid tactic to focus on the best player and eliminate them and shut them down. It’s up to that best player to learn how to counter it if they want to keep on top.
Dodge.
Guessing none of you have heard about this mythical thing called real life, in which people lose their jobs, maybe internet, go on vacation and leave their games behind, or God forbid have a loss in the family, or tests, and exams to begin cramming for, as the school year draws more quickly to a close.
Happens every day of the year. Doesn’t explain a mass exodus.
Oh yes. The last month(s) of cramming for those big tests that matter the most happen every day of the year.
True when you’re still at school. When you reach university, there are ALWAYS big tests. ALWAYS big projects. You’re lucky to have a day to yourself. Something for you to look forward to!

Because there hasn’t been one. You have no evidence. WvW is busy pretty much all the time. The same exact thing happened during season one…and back then we didn’t have Edge of the Mists to play in either.
Of course there has been. Every single game has one. It’s not enough to kill off the game but there is a drastic population reduction. To say otherwise is blind faith or lack of experience of previous MMOs.
Also, WvW is busy all the time on… which servers again? There are a few servers that would tell you you’re wrong. The bandwagon jumping to the top three servers that everyone did is why there are such concentrated battles in WvW. You can’t use that to disprove anything.

U do realize, that, to call up evidence, as your point > u should 1-st present such evidence? All I see is your words about some myth busters of gw2, whom no one ever seen? Yeah. Maybe I shall make up some people, who prove you wrong too?
If such people existed, you already would have.
Also, I think you should install a spell checker. It is very difficult to read anything you’re trying to say. It’s an English only forum. Thank you.
So thats your evidence? Wasnt very pleasant to talk with you, but whatever. Good day.
Like I said, there was a decade of evidence out there from veterans such as myself. You just refused to put the research in and used your own anecdotal evidence from GW2 which consisted of “I quit this game.”
There wasn’t much to debunk. You provided nothing to prove anyone wrong. After all, you started with GW2 and you quit GW2.

Like I said, it’s been going on for nearly a decade and we have many cases to back up that evidence. It’s not just one dev. It’s far, far more experienced players than yourselves who have established names within GW1 that have tried and tested every theory under the sun.
You have your own theories in your short GW2 career but some of us have been around since the very beginning and have accumulated evidence, scenarios and many tests to know that what we’ve been told HAS been true.
It was good for a few days because your diminishing returns reset as you had not farmed that area in a while. That is because that’s how it works. If you want to argue a decade of evidence, you shouldn’t be stumbling into the exact same conclusions that proves me right.
You’re very welcome to try to prove us all wrong. It’d be interesting to see one man break down a decade of knowledge. The floor is yours.
There is another parameter, that people forget to mention. Did your friends returned from a long offline period? Or do farm a lot more, than your friends? There is such thing in this game, which called diminished returns (DR). If u was farming yesterday for a whole day and, then, today, tested your chanced with a friends, who was away for a weak from the game….I would totally expect such results.
The “offline” mechanic is a rumor. Sure, diminishing returns is a thing, but it doesn’t work like that, it doesn’t take days to reset, I believe it is just 1 hour in a different area, so you can still be logged in.
U never know the truth, until they reveal the code of this DR.
As for myself, I believe they added DR for almost everything. It could be value of materials per week. Or per month. It can even account for mystic forge.
I play for almost every day, but when i stopped farming for around a month and then came back….u know what? My drop was really good for a few days.
*You. It’s not that much longer to type and changes the disposition of your message immensely.
The diminishing returns rule has been elaborated upon from devs in GW1 around Factions. It’s pretty widely known that if you stay too long in one area, it diminishes. You can resolve this by going to a new area and playing there for a while or coming back a day later. It’s been that way for the longest time.
It was believed to screw over bots but they said that they didn’t want people heavily farming in a single area either. It did nothing for bots as they had many accounts and would just power through.
A small history lesson for you.
Of course they’re still going to be able to join a party you’re in. The other 3 haven’t blocked him. That leaves you to try to kick him, rage quit or grow up and accept the fact that you can’t hear him but you can still kill stuff together.
Your chances at a drop are the same. Your chances that it’s a better grade than what you would have got is increased by magic find.
The population of every game falls with age. Newer games come out, people finish the game they’re playing and achieve all their goals and just move on. I don’t know a single game that people can play every single day for years and still have fun.
We also have newer players come in and sometimes older players come back so the population can have a small growth spurt. But ultimately, it will diminish over time.
Until it falls under a sustainable number, there’s not much to worry about.
I’ve never had a blocked person show up in map chat. But the last time I blocked someone, it was the gold spam epidemic.
You sure you’re blocking the right person? It works fine for me.
I had a staff and jewellery just to do Fractals. I never bothered with armour because I’m not encouraging the casual mentality of time gating.
Instead of encouraging skill based play, they encourage time spent with dungeon tokens, daily rewards, time gated crafting and laurels. My time is better spent elsewhere.
A game should be rewarding. There should be challenges and accolades. The limits should never be what the game allows you to do but what the player can do. If I have the funds to buy full ascended, I should be able to.
This isn’t a sub game. There is no monthly fee. Therefore, there is no financial gain to me playing every day. If they want to compete with real MMOs, they need to take the good parts and NOT the bad parts from each. Temporary content to “change the world” is useless too. It’s changed for 2 weeks and then reverted. Again, that’s what a personal story is for. Instances CAN change the world, temporarily and be available to everyone.
2 years later and they’re finally listening to the feedback we gave in beta. I suppose that will keep the new players who’ve yet to even see exotics happy.
If you’re going to defend their bad decisions, expect more bad decisions. But also expect to be called out on it to provide more than “But you don’t NEED it!” I’ve heard it before in other MMOs 15 years ago.
If you need to lessen yourself to make a game harder, that’s just bad game design.
Of course. Who else would spend that level of time to have their gear compensate for skill? Gear over skill games are completely aimed at casuals. They put the time in and can have their time be their progression.
You’ll never see a game like this as an E-Sport.
Teon, do I honestly need to explain necessity to you? I also like how you claim I don’t know true grind based on me telling you that there is, indeed, grind in GW2. A game that was advertised as completely grind free and easy to acquire max stats.
Time gated content, limited drops, levelling system which is probably VERY dumbed down to grab as many MMO failures as possible that use the excuse “But I HAVE a life!” and then rope them into the gem store.
It’s genius! I admire ArenaNet for creating a second Farmville and milking the meek! You say having a life is the reason you can’t get through this game. I say it’s because you lack knowledge as you can race through any game that isn’t time gated. That’s why time gating was introduced in this game at all.
Guild Wars 2 is the most casual friendly game I have ever played. Which is a shame. Guild Wars 1 took skill. I just hope one day that there is something at my level too.
I quickly skimmed for the “But you don’t NEED to do it!” I was not disappointed. Like somehow you need to log into this game at all.
Teon. Ascended gear. That’s the first half of your post out the window.
Second half. I’ve never seen anyone defend temporary content before and I’ve NEVER seen a justifiable reason for it. “Think of the story and the world!” We call that a personal story. Every game does it. WoW did it better with Cataclysm.
The kick system isn’t broken. Just right click on the offenders’ names in chat and report them for scamming.
If the chat system even allowed it in its current state, how would you prove it?
People shouldn’t be afraid to kick someone for leeching in case they get reported for the kick. Obviously some people kick at the end of instances to get a friend in but the majority of the reports will be the case of the OP where they were spending too much time in chat whining about everything rather than doing their job and wanting to report.
I’d kick them too. If you got time to cry, you got time to fight.
And then the owner gets cursed with having people say “Nice! Cloud’s sword from Final Fantasy VII!”
TL, DR.
At any rate, sounds like you need a guild and some gaming buddies.
I do WvW with my guild and random fun stuff with my friends in between the living story installments. Keeps me interested.
Wow, you definitely didn’t read if THAT’S what you took from it.
Dueling will be announce on May 13th but only with environmental weapons. Mounts also will be allowed but only on the computer generated sheep that will be randomly roaming around.
If Notch has any say in it, it’ll be Quake duels.
What is with all these people demanding refunds or extra content from ANet when they bought something fully knowing what it was?
I honestly just don’t get it.
Because we live in the Age of Entitlement.
Must be a pretty long age. I’ve been hearing people say that for 30 years.
Good luck with TESO! See you back in a month.
If someone leaves TESO, they don’t necessarily come back to a lesser game. They just find a third game to replace the prior.
