$10 is a ridiculous price for character slots when we can make additional accounts for free.
Yes, it’s much more convenient to have them all on the main account, and there’s the issue of specializations, but this still reduces the actual value of what a slot is worth.
Though, full disclosure, I always thought the price was ridiculous. Now it just seems more so. I can pay $50 to have enough slots for one character of each profession, or I can just make make two free accounts to play them all, which seems a lot smarter. Why should I have to pay so much to add those to my main account?
Anyone else agree or am I just blowing smoke here?
Yes, you can make additional accounts for free. But would you enjoy the restrictions?

I can easily work around that.
Then they can simply say to their clients that payments would be in the form of X. It is still up to their clients if item X is valuable enough as payment.
For example, if they can get you Twilight for just $10, it is definitely worth it for most people.
True, it can work with very high tier items that have a very high price. But I would say that most people that buy gold, do want the gold, not a Legendary, and thus it would still be somewhat low-tier items being given in place of gold. Which would change in price several times per day, and thus it wouldn’t really be a reliable trade.
Spot the Eye of the North onwards player…
Looks like you gold buyers and sellers have just shown yourselves out the woodwork.
Their plan went down without a hitch!
“Yeah I transfer that amount of gold to my dog’s brother’s aunt! Every day! Because we’re family kinda!”
I play other games for actual gaming. I come here because I laugh at those less fortunate.
My prediction is an Anniversary Bash at PAX prime 2014. On this celebration they will announce the next Feature Pack and the first global WvW tournament.
My prediction is your disappointment.
I suspect stuff like this is also part of the reason why Arena.net has backed off on this sort of candid discussion. I mean, read that interview… it’s a candid statement of intent… it’s what they WANTED to do. It wasn’t a promise. It’s what they even TRIED to do.
And then they went live… and it apparently didn’t work. Too many players didn’t buy into it. They wanted that power creep. They wanted that grind. And when they didn’t get it, they quit.
Then they wanted a different game. GW2 was not the game they were looking for. Catering to people that AREN’T your target market will make BOTH sides quit.
So they tried to add in power creep and those people still quit anyway to games like FF14.
The 1st birthday gifts were very underwhelming. I ended up with 9 Queen Jennahs etc. What were they thinking? After the good feedback from GW1 where you got a chance of many different minis, why did they change this?
I hope they will alter the rewards this time around.
GW1? Good feedback? Wut? I can tell you one thing in my playtime (which was pretty much until GW2 got released) I never got a green minipet. RNG shouldn’t be a factor when it comes to presents.
Have you checked recently? Been two years now.
Zap. Level 42 veteran flesh golem at the end of a jump puzzle. 100 hours played.
Sorry, I disagree, overall players are a pretty whiny bunch, and if Anet says any one thing, people act as if it’s written in stone.
Players brought the lack of communication on themselves.
I’d much rather have the staff developing new content and features, and fixing bugs, then dealing with the large amount of unreasonable people and their ridiculous, beat-the-dead-horse-some-more topics on the forums.
Truer words never spoken.
They tell you they’re listening. “But you’re not acting!”
They tell you they’re acting. “But it’s not what I wanted!”
They tell you that mounts would not fit in the game. “But I want mounts! I PAID for this game! It’s MY game!”
They tell you there’s something big coming. You actually expect something big coming and get disappointed when it’s Scarlet resurrected or something useless. Like the time they said that season 1 of living story was going to remind us all of Game of Thrones. That one still has me laughing.
I have seen community relations delve right into a forum and try to talk about topics. Instead entire posts were typed up but nothing was said. It just got people angrier. The problem is “We might do this” becomes concrete “It will happen by the end of the week.”
So what do you think someone being here will accomplish? You want transparency? Ask for a blog at the end of every month of what’s to come. Nobody needs them to spend more money on more staff to tell you weddings aren’t coming. That’s how we end up with the 1650 gems cosmetics bundle we have now.
I’m glad you put discuss at the end. Would never have done that on a public forum otherwise!

There. For all your discussion needs.
For every person who complains about not being able to join someone else’s work, they could have joined up and did it themselves. You all just sit in another server spamming join instead of trying to do it yourself.
Make your own guild, get people in that map, start organising amongst yourselves and you will do what “only three guilds” have managed to do.
I’m waiting for them to do a “weekend deal” for a third of the price to make it sound like they’re doing you a favour.
Stay delusional, not really my problem but one day you will realise the truth when you go do content that doesn’t allow to mindlessly sit back at 1500 range and spam 1 and see how far that will get you.
You show me that content in GW2 and I will reinstall this game right now. I’d love it if this game actually required skill.
Fractals of the Mist
Edge of the Mists
Team Tournaments / Structured PvP
Achivement Hunting
Gear check. Time over skill is so appealing.
People not my skill level so it’s like watching myself play a game of Heroes of Might and Magic. WvW being purely numbers again.
PvP in GW2? Yeah, the good PvPers left at the end of GW1. It’s like playing a game of Awesomenauts. Let me know when it makes it to an E-Sport. Thanks for the laugh though!
Achievement hunting? Does this LOOK like XBox? Does “Jump off 20 cliffs” require skill now?
I was hoping somewhere in that list would be something that changed. Unfortunately this game has to cater to the casuals because that’s where the money is.
If anything, they’ll only simplify this game. It never has and never will require skill. But the forums are still PRIME entertainment watching low-tiered players argue about builds!

Yeah, why not? We might as well completely remove anything that links GW1 to this.
You cannot reach 5000 AP without making a number of separate races for their 10 AP from story rewards.
10k. Didn’t do that. Played far less than 2 years because I quit. Go do your dailies and monthlies. Go do WvW. Do the living story. Salvage, get all crafts to max. Do every jump puzzle.
And the best advice I’m going to give you: Ignore any party that uses achievement points as a form of skill because they are BAD! All of you. Bad. I mean if you WERE any good, you’d not be in a pug.
Mounts and marriage. You genuinely think those two aspects will bring people back. The game is a shoddy, bug-ridden mess that caters to the lowest common denominator and the gem store BUT AS SOON AS YOU CAN RIDE TO A WEDDING, THAT’S ALRIGHT!
I’m used to stories written for adults. The minute Belinda was introduced, I knew she’d die. I have no emotional investment in the Sesame Street version of Guild Wars.
no one cares about you quitting, no need to mention it on the forums.
Did you really need to quote the wall of text directly above your post? Seriously?
Snow Leopard is pretty much the only useful racial I’ve found.
That’s pretty much the PvE. Then you get dynamic events around those hearts which is kill more stuff, fetch more stuff. Then you get the world bosses in certain zones run to a timer which is interesting the first few times.
Then at 30 you get dungeons. Good luck there. People expect you to be max level to do a downscaled level 30 dungeon for some reason.
Your personal story is good exp too but they have huge gaps in levels between them. You won’t be able to do just the story from 1 to 80. You’ll find the monsters stronger than you are until you do more hearts.
Crafting levels you too if you decide to go that option.
It really is just another MMO.
Was there some update in the game I missed that means people actually require skill to beat the dungeons now? Did they bring back the GW1 team?!
You know what’s funny? This game IS like Dragonball Z. It took them two years to get to the point and stop with the filler.
Wait until NCSoft do something to protect their servers against the DDoS spam.
You have some HUGE space management problems.
They are not going to do any thing about it because the idiot had to buy an account to do it. They make money and you get a pain in the butt. Blackgate did it on TC too.
Would mean anything if it was a sub game.
By the time you get to that stage in the story, you will be 59.
I make plenty purely through merchanting. Playing the game normally is one of the worst ways to make gold because of the sheer slaughter of income. Right down to the drops in the pavilion being taken away.
I like how you care about AP so much when it doesn’t measure skill.
Stop AP farming and get good at dungeons.
I never farmed AP, but it’s an indicator of me having played since beta. Also, you know nothing about my gameplay, so why the insults?
Stop mindless posting and get good at reading.
A lot of people have played since beta. I’ve seen how bad they are too.
A lot of places are dull and has no heart. But every so often when doing world exploration, you stumble upon something and wonder why the rest of the game can’t have that beauty.
You spoke a lot and said nothing.
Five signet warrior. Best build in the game. You don’t even need to dodge. Just stand there.
Do it on a mesmer.
And people wonder why I say that achievement points aren’t a measure of skill.
Saying that, if you DO wonder why I say that, you’re generally not the kind of person I’d want to end up in a dungeon with anyway. Ever. I would sooner go without doing the dungeon.
The only thing they need to nerf is the thing where you have to find a TTS group and ferry in to their map by right clicking 9001 times for an hour.
But you don’t. You’re as much to blame for the situation by doing that. You refuse to try on your own server. Each and every person who thinks like you do is also to blame by not trying it themselves.
Do they need to nerf the game for the players who can’t think or do the players need to learn to play the game?
People. You can copy and paste that if you’re finding it hard to spell.
The problem is people don’t try because people don’t try. Do you honestly think only one server in the entire game can do it? This is this Pavilion all over again.
Read the chat. Communicate. Stop zerging. Think. The handful of people who do exactly this end up in the server and then we have a good 100 wanting their hands held to be told what to do.
Here’s what you do! You hit him! You defend the lasers! You use the turrets properly! It’s the same it’s been for a LONG time and people get surprised that they can’t do it because they won’t even try?
Of course if the content was rewarding at all, there’d be a lot more people racing to it.
I think outfits are amazing. 0 charges to use. Dyeable. Adorable. Usable in combat. Win.
I’m more interested in that pet!
I like skimpy but I think we should have more non-skimpy now. We got enough of one, let’s bring the other up to par.
The gear is fine.
The content being designed solely around it isn’t fine.
looks around for content designed solely for berserker gear
>.> <.<
can’t find
Come on lol… berserker gear is promoted because dungeons can be completed by stack and dps. The problem is definitely not the gear, but it definitely IS the content in the dungeon being too mind-numbing stupid.
For all those arguing otherwise… learn to think and stop being a zombie.
Did you just tell people to learn to think and “stop being a zombie” by playing the game in that EXACT manner? Hide in a corner and auto attack! Learn to think by not thinking!
Sun Tzu said that, didn’t he?
I do believe that there should be better rewards for higher dungeons. Everyone runs the path of least resistance because doing AC is the same financial gain as doing Arah.
The game being “all about skins” has LONG sailed.
Now you’re talking strategy. Tactics, shortcuts, experience. You can do that in any gear but now you’re addressing what really matters in a dungeon.
Guide people, give them the tactics and let them grow.
I’m pretty sure those same players would still get downed in berserker gear. You’re making the same mistake a lot of modern day gamers make. Gear is not the same as skill.
Oh wow, I do remember that! Man, last time I saw something like that was in Runescape over a decade ago! A guy was running a brothel in one of the towns!
We’ll never know.
You don’t need voice chat for PvE. It’s the same encounter every time, the same tactics every time, nothing fluctuates, nothing changes.
It’s time people stopped playing the blame game and started playing THIS game.
I can’t even believe what I just read.
Dungeon running can barely make a fraction of the profit TP players can. And you want to reduce the already limited amount of loot we can get in game? I mean the gold reward is LIMITED to once per day. You… no. Please don’t ask for the one thing in the game that gives an okay reward to be nerfed. That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen on this forum. And that counts the feeling of felankor.
I 99% agree with that. The 1% being your ire towards Felankor!
So how would you suggest fixing the issue with people missing sales due to not reading mail/launcher/forums then?
Because people have been having issues with this since release and demanded that the information was added in-game.Now they have added it in-game (it is not like it flashes constantly and disturb regular game-play) and now that is wrong as well?
I have played rather many hours today, and I haven’t really seen that thing at all. I have read the yellow text in the chat-window later on, but haven’t actually seen it on the screen. So I assume it is only there for a few seconds?
Do you not think about the answers before you ask the questions? Or are you only asking questions to seem sagacious and experienced?
Open gem store in game. See information on front page. TA-DA!
you spoiled kiddies r complaining about things you dont understand, they have to cut back on the loot in pavillion or prices would crash and the game would be even less rewarding,
you look at an event and you say “i dont like the outcome so it was stuipid” did you even once think “mayb its better than the alternative”
Hello, fellow trading post player! Wait. You can’t be. If you were you’d understand economics and how prices fluctuate on supply AND demand.
Also, quoting your post made my spell checker go INSANE! How does your browser not just uninstall itself?
Is this guy leaving through a revolving door?!
