It certainly doesn’t help that you need some masteries filled out just to get Bronze in some of these challenges (looking at you, Flying Circus)
For that one I got gold with just the first 3 levels of gliding (i.e. through lean techniques).
Now ofc it would have been much easier with full gliding mastery (I got death-sniped quite a few times lol), but just wanted to point out that gold can be done with just the first 3 levels.
I’d also like an invite to a guild that does this – many thanks!
Just GW2 for me. Too many responsibilities in my adult life to play anything else.
Yes for sure. HoT is really really good!
Hi Chaba.5410,
You can change it to first-person camera in the game setting. It’s in the first tab (General Options) under subheading “Camera.” There should be a box called “Enable First-Person Camera.”
Huh, for some reason that wasn’t working for me last night.
The first-person option allows you to zoom into first-person (i.e. clicking that option doesn’t put you into first-person until you manually zoom-in).
And unfortunately when the shooting gallery starts, even if you are in first-person zoom, the game resets your camera so that you have to zoom back to first-person.
Wait, how did you get a first-person view? I don’t have action camera keybound yet. When doing this adventure it just dropped me into action camera with my character right in front and in the way so I couldn’t see kitten. I could not zoom in to first-person view even with that checked.
Each time I started a round, I used my mouse wheel to zoom-in.
Definitely wish I could just stay in first-person the whole time though, but apparently that option isn’t available yet.
If it’s any help, here’s my gold vid:
Basically, you need to get the first 20 targets (which always spawn in the same place) as fast as absolutely possible.
You’ll notice I hit the 20th target with ~1:13 remaining. That will give you more time to hit the next 20 targets which spawn randomly. By this I mean if you hit the 20th target at like 1:00 left, then it’s probably a safe bet you won’t get gold that run – and you can just reset at that point.
Now it did take me many attempts to get this – so much so that I will probably not do any more challenges until ANet possibly tweaks the gold limits on other hard ones like Falling Masks.
Oh one more thing. Whenever you get to the 40th target, I highly recommend using skill #2 (like I do in my vid) instead of skill #1 as I missed gold the prior night by literally a 1/2 second by missing target 40 with my first skill #1 shot (I hit it the second time, but the timer had just expired argh!)
Someone said you need a lot of people to spawn a champion husk.
Dont know if its true.
Interesting – would be nice to get confirmation of this!
This was bugged – I’m guessing it still is?
Why do some adventures take hours to unlock? Then by the time it’s unlocked you have maybe half an hour to actually play it before it locks again.
This! As I’ve stated in other threads, the Shooting Gallery one really suffers from this. And being the hardest one in VB, it really needs to be open waaaayy more than it is!
On the one hand, I really like SG because it’s definitely a challenge and you have to be on top of your game to get gold.
However, there are definitely issues which make this adventure frustrating.
To me, the biggest one by far is how often it’s locked out!
Between the outpost events completing and nightfall starting, it seems SG is only open now around 30 minutes at a time (with like 70-75 minutes until it opens again?), which provides an extremely short window to go for the gold. With this being easily the hardest adventurer in VB, it really needs to be open way more often than that.
Also the camera popping you out of first-person view when SG starts – why? Please keep our current zoom when we activate SG.
And the white-dot sight can easily get lost while frantically trying to find a target – please give us a better sight(s)!
I’ve gotten 38 twice and really want to get 40, but I find myself waiting around way too long for SG to open. And the more peeps leave VB, the longer the SG wait times will increase.
EDIT: Oh, and I almost forgot that many times the ‘Faren-Training’ quest will bug-out on the very last phase where you fight ‘Bongo the One-Eyed.’ When that happens you can’t complete the outpost events and thus SG won’t open qq :/
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
The below event in Verdant Brink occasionally bugs and thus blocks access to the Shooting Gallery adventure – please fix!
I was just on two different maps where this same quest bugged out – so frustrating as this blocks access to the Shooting Gallery :/
Shooting Gallery reward tiers too hard.

I agree the SG tiers seem just a tad out-of-whack compared to the other adventures in VB.
Plus SG is often locked, so it’s tough to practice and get better (something I need a lot of!)
The below event in Verdant Brink occasionally bugs and thus blocks access to the Shooting Gallery adventure – please fix!
Also, with less peeps doing the VB outpost events, the window between outpost events completing and defend events starting becomes narrower each day, and further adds to the frustration of limited cracks at SG (I was even in a map last night where the outpost events didn’t complete, and so no SG for that round qq).
EDIT: Argh! Was just in a map where the Faren event bugged-out again and thus no SG!
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
Eventually adventures will get easier once videos start going up where all people have to do is learn to mimic what was done in those videos. Of course it won’t be applicable to the ones that tend to have a little randomness which are not that many.
Yeah with Shooting Gallery targets start spawning randomly after the first 20 (at least I can’t see any pattern yet). And so that’s where I’d like more attempts, but with the current setup it’s really hard to play it for any length of time.
And SG requires really pro-aiming skills – again where I need practice :/
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
Imho currently a big problem is the extreme length of time some games are locked out.
Shooting Gallery in VB is a great example (by far the hardest in VB to get gold). Basically once it opens you have a very limited window to play until the ‘defend outpost’ events start up, and then you’re locked out again until that very narrow window opens like an hour+ later – assuming the pre-events complete and/or don’t bug out.
ANet please look into this issue – it wouldn’t be so bad except that Shooting Gallery is pretty difficult to get gold and it’s really hard to practice under the current circumstances (I haven’t tried adventures in other areas so can’t comment there).

Suggestion - Targeting Reticule Choices
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Day Trooper.3605
For the shooting gallery adventure, the targeting reticule white dot can easily be lost while frantically moving amongst targets.
Can we perhaps have a list of reticules to choose from? Basically something a bit bigger would really help (but not to the point it covers up the target – it would need to be something you can see through). There are already some nice ones in-game which appear while in Action-Mode.
‘Bark Breaker’ achievement is bugged? While escorting Laranthir I don’t see any husks with defiance bars.
I have completed the ‘Coztic Itzel Belongings’ hero challenge multiple times but have yet to receive credit – please fix!
BTW – does anyone know when the festival ends?
I did the same thing and didn’t get a win either – which does sound strange since as you mentioned in regular pvp you do get credit for the other team’s win when an autobalance occurs.
Ryt-unlock?

Lol well played sir WELL PLAYED
Probably time to find a game more suited to my skills- solitaire maybe.
Lol! I too am an ‘old’ gamer (middle-age) and I thought the same thing when I first tried to do the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Guildies telling me they did it after a couple hours or less while I was still going at it for 10+ hours.
‘Perhaps time to put this old gamer out to pasture’ I thought.
But then I finally nailed it! And it felt sooo good! And now I can breeze through it whenever it returns.
And yes some of these story achieves are a bit demanding to say the least (I’m looking at you Wicked Rodeo) but just be persistent and don’t give up!!
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
I would though see if she could make some amends to the Centaurs as a race.
Wouldn’t it be cool if the whole reason she took the egg was to make amends to the Centaurs?
Perhaps Caithe later found out that Faolin masterminded the whole Centaur slaughter (i.e. provoking them to attack) and now she feels a profound sense of guilt – a guilt that can only be removed (somehow) by the egg itself.
Hmmm…
Whenever I try to trade-in a plant part, I see the option for either a ‘spleen’ (25 bandit crests) or ‘other parts’ (15 bandit crests).
Question is – why would you ever choose ‘other parts’ as it’s 10 less crests than you get for spleens?
Underworld (UW) ->>> http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Underworld
Fissure of Woe (FoW) ->>> http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fissure_of_woe
My best memories of GW1 involved all the tinkering around I did with various UW builds, and our guild finally getting a 14 minute Underworld post-Dhuum run (not the 1st one but still an achievement nonetheless). Ah the memories
I would love for UW and FoW to come to GW2, but I’m not sure if they would truly be able to feel/play like they did in GW1 (at least from a ‘speed-running’ perspective).
Ok so I got the achieve by fighting around the consoles only (i.e. I never attacked any Inquest in the ‘below areas’). This isn’t to say though that attacking them negates the achieve – this is just how I finally got it.
Definitely took a while though with the endless spawning of Inquest…
I just tried doing ‘No Tricks’ and after securing the first console I proceeded to go below and attack the Inquest. However they kept spawning endlessly.
I then went above to see if killing the ones by the console would do it; but they kept spawning over and over again, too.
What am I missing here?
I must say, I’ve tried this repeatedly now and there’s a couple jumps which are really driving me crazy.
The first is the one in your vid which your teammate says gives him problems, too. I’ve made it a few times but probably miss it at least 9/10 times.
And then the jump from below the diving platform to the ‘ribbon’ which holds the two bamboo rods together on the other side – I have yet to make that jump. Any tips for that one??
Basically the fact you can get to the top in one go is really amazing – great job!!
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
To ‘jump-avoid’ the big AoE attack, do you just spam the space bar or is there some timing involved?
What AP changes? Can you describe what the changes are and where I can read up on them?
Today ANet announced that daily APs will now be capped at 10k and monthly at 5k.
As to be expected with a change of this magnitude, some folks are happy, others upset, and probably many others indifferent.
Or as the old adage goes, “You can’t please all the people all the time.”
As an AP hunter, this is a horrible change. I wont be able to play the content that I want. Strange, never once did I think that the AP panel demanded anything t all.
I disagree completely. As an AP hunter, this is a wonderful change. I’ll now be able to dabble in aspects of the game like PvP and other stuff like experimenting with builds and spending more time on alts – which in turn will keep my interest up in this game. Especially long-term.
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
The limits on daily and monthly APs overall seems modest. Let’s say you do 10 dailies (twice as many as you need to complete the daily) for 1,000 days straight. IIRC, each daily is 1AP. It would take you 2.7 years to hit that ceiling. Seems like that gives devs plenty of time to come back to these numbers as time progresses to see if they need adjusting in the scale of the game’s lifespan.
I don’t see how this is discouraging at all. I’d venture to guess that a majority of players will not hit this cap any time soon. I’m glad it’ll put a cap on AP inflation from this source, tbh. Like I said, I’d be very surprised if these were numbers that were not re-evaulated at the end of each year or something.
So we clearly need to get caps put on the content that you enjoy specifically so you will understand our perspective. Is that what you’re saying?
Err..? What other AP content is unlimited and causes max-total AP inflation in the way dailies/monthlies currently do? I can think of the salvaging achievement…
Both the salvaging (Agent of Entropy) and ‘Hobby Dungeon Explorer’ achievements are capped (used to be unlimited, but this was changed a while back)
And @AtlasSi, reaching the 5K monthly cap will take even longer. (For example, I already have 6,766/10k daily AP – but only 1,177/5k monthly.)
(Of course I’d like this to be a free option like in Guild Wars, but if not) I would also pay for this feature as it would save sooo much time swapping builds!
I dislike this change. Now its 1) going to take even longer to get max AP rewards and 2) gives no reason to do any extra dailies/monthlies after. If they give more achieves for LS next season to offset it, I guess its fine.
You still get laurels, silver, kharma, and random rewards, I think? Those are reasons to do your extra dailies / monthlies.
But not to complete any extra ones (like the other 7ish dailies after you finish the 5 for the rewards). For me, that’ll give me less of a reason to stay playing at all after doing the dailies.
Uhm, then do permanent achievements afterwards. Some of those are pretty good AP sources.
This is what I’m so pumped about with this change.
Before, each day I had to grind through all the PvE dailys before I could focus on stuff like Living Story achievements.
Now, I don’t have to worry about grinding out those PvE dailys and can immediately start working on permanent achievements (a ton of which become available tonight when the Season 2 WvW achievements go live).
So to me, this is by far the biggest ‘quality of life’ change being made
And before anyone says it, yes I know I wasn’t ‘forced’ to do anything – but in my mind I felt the need to at least complete the PvE dailys in order to maintain a top 500 AP rank and also get the AP reward chests.
But now, knowing there’s a daily/monthly cap, this feeling of being ‘forced’ to grind the dailys/monthlies has immediately gone away…
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
“There will be a limit of 10,000 daily and 5,000 monthly achievement points” (source)
Thank you, ANet, for this. Above all else in this patch, thank you for this. If you don’t understand why this matters so much, I’ll tell you:
- Once I have 10k daily AP and 5k monthly AP, I can do monthlies/dailies leisurely without feeling like my AP is becoming irrelevant if I don’t grind more
- It gives players like me a goal to work towards. I will now push to max those boundaries like never before!
- It makes the permanent achievements more valuable to your overall AP, reducing the impact of daily/monthly AP.This is awesome. Best patch ever. This is without a doubt the best thing I’ve read in any blog post yet. You guys rock.
goes to throw money at the gemstore now
This!! Thank you a ton for this change ANet!
In my case, I only do PvE achievements (try to do all daily).
Although I like a high AP rank (top 500 good enough for me), I refused to ‘become a slave to the game’ and also do the PvP dailies as that’s just waaayyy too much of a time commitment for me.
Now, with this change, I feel much less ‘pressured’ to grind those PvE dailys each day – and therefore may actually try out PvP sometime or other aspects of the game.
Again, thx Anet!!
With today’s announcement of future free-refunding of trait points, does this mean that we’ll also be getting the ability to save builds like we were able to in GW1?
If not PLEASE consider this!!
So this is what the community have created so far.
- CITIZENS!
- Scarlet did it.
- all is vain
- Uh-huh.
You forgot….

I sympathize with you.
Although I have this achieve, I lucked out in that (a) I’m in TTS and (b) I just happened to be on at the right time to do the achieve (I can’t be on every night during primetime hours).
The achievement I don’t mind, but having it be time-limited – yeah, that’s a bit extreme especially when it was bugged for a whole week…
Six Minutes to Knightfall STILL bugged.

It would be great if ANet could do something for us here.
As I’ve stated in other threads, I (and undoubtedly many others) can’t be on during primetime every night hoping to make it to the right LA instance whenever (if?) this gets fixed – and the fact a lot of us have already killed the knights within 6 minutes without being awarded the achievement just makes things that much more annoying.

Anet please remove any achievement I can’t do. It has no title tied to it or an item but people will still be able to know I didn’t do it and laugh that my achievement points are 7670 and not 7680.
Don’t be obnoxious. People aren’t asking for this to be removed because they can’t do it: they’re asking for it to be removed because it’s so thoroughly broken.
This!
While I don’t want the achievement removed necessarily, the fact it presumably goes away next Tuesday leaves very little time for folks to get it given how (a) the bug still needs to be fixed and (b) you must be on during primetime hours to get it AND be lucky enough to make it to the same LA instance as the other bazillion peeps frantically trying to join.

BTW, they cranked down the hp on the knights last knight, so there is at least a snowball’s chance of getting this now :/
Sariel – the pervasive issue with this achievement is that it’s still bugged (has been since the event started) – lowering the knight’s hp means nothing when you kill all 3 knights within 6 mins and are still not rewarded the achievement (like TTS did yet again last night).
And the fact that the event most likely ends next Tuesday means it will become increasingly difficult for folks to complete this achievement (not to mention the bug must be fixed first, and that you must be on during primetime and lucky enough to get into the right LA instance).
Six Minutes to Knightfall STILL bugged.

And the really big issue here is that the achievement is presumably going away with next Tuesday’s patch, and a lot of folks like myself may not be able to complete it due to a game bug totally outside of their control (for me this would be the first LS achievement I’ve not completed)…

different cores drop and different salvage items
Orly?? So which chest type has the ‘best’ of these?
Before I get cypher pieces from all my ’Scarlet’s Spare Key’ bags, has anyone noticed better loot coming from a particular chest type?
I’d be shocked if that were the case, but just checking – thanks!
Have an epic Marionette success story to tell? Let’s hear it!
Here’s mine. Early this morning on a Blackgate overflow we failed Chain 2 once and then Chain 3 three times – leaving us with like <5% left on the Aethercannon energy bar.
At that point there’s no chance, right? Wrong! Somehow we completed the last 3 chains and succeeded! (Despite the fact at the end we were literally one-champ away from filling up the cannon energy bar o.o)
The elation of everyone at the end-chest afterwards was really awesome to see and be a part of – definitely made that a very memorable fight
So – what’s your story?
