In addition, (if the Aethercannon energy bar isn’t dangerously full from chain failures) we basically had anyone who didn’t have the force-field sickness help out with chain 5 since:
1). The more peeps the better to ensure that platform’s success, and
2). We didn’t mind letting some extra champs get through other lanes since there wasn’t any way for them to fill up the cannon bar by the time we completed the 5th chain – which was really fast with the extra peeps
I just got the dodge achievement for the 5th stage of the Marionette fight, and it was extremely simple by following this strategy:
Upon zoning in, all stack directly in front of the regulator. The reason being that the Marionette’s AoE attacks do not hit there. Also, this makes the boss adds (which split multiple times from the first champ) bunch up and very easy to take out.
I was amazed how fast we destroyed the champ and adds by doing this – with no fear of missing out on the dodge achievement (ofc all other platforms were successful).
Hope this helps others!
it not so much tied to lanes as it is how many chains are severed. Each severed chain changes which Warden spawns and what attack the Marionette performs
Thx for clarifying – so to rephrase my question, in the event that all chain events succeed, what would the order of the dodge achieves be?
Are the dodge achieves tied to particular lanes? (seems likely).
If so, does someone mind writing out each lane and dodge achieve? (lane 1 being the first portal event thru lane 5 being the last) ?
Sorry if I missed this somewhere above, but what is the approximate chance to recover insignias/inscriptions using black lion salvage kits?
And is the blsk the best option for attempting to recover insignias/inscriptions?
This would apply to account-bound exotics I’ve gotten while running fractals (i.e. ‘Armageddon’ armors, ‘Ceremonial’ weapons, and various accessories/rings/amulets).
It’s definitely in-game as someone in my 49 group got one last night (sadly it wasn’t me :/)
And yes it looks awesome.
^Gratz on the 17!
And yes I agree that for anything higher you’d pretty much need to be in there alone so you don’t have to wait on stuff to spawn like the prezzies, snowflakes, etc.
You could also replay the story instance and kill the one that spawns from the Watchknight by picking the wrong option.
There we go . (fyi pick the 2nd phrase option to make it spawn).
And luckily we just need to kill one for the achieve…
Are there any Watchworks around besides the ones that spawn during a Scarlet invasion?
If not, I take it killing one during an invasion is the only way to get this daily?
17 (literally got it with 1 second remaining ) Fyi I did this on the snowman path.
I think 18 is possible but would require taking chances like never stopping to talk with Tixx when a full set of presents are available to jump through (i.e. pretty much a perfect run).
It’s definitely working. I just got it on my Elementalist.
I entered solo and immediately started fire-AoE’ing every tree and structure in sight on the bottom floor. As soon as I hit the last thing I needed I immediately got the achievement (i.e. didn’t have to do any quests first).
Tip – definitely do this on a char with a multitude of quick-recharging AoE skills – will make this achieve much much easier!
I’d like to start doing 40+ fractals. However, it looks like I need at least 55AR (have 45AR currently) – and 55AR is possible by crafting an ascended weapon (which can be upgraded for the extra 10AR).
So I noticed I need something called ‘Globs of Dark Matter.’ According to the wiki you get these by salvaging exotic items. So my question is what is the best/cheapest way to get these?
Also if there’s some other ‘pitfall’ to avoid here then please enlighten me as the cost to craft ascended weapons looks pretty prohibitive. Thanks!
I think it’s fair. Those people you kicked didn’t actually kill the final boss so they don’t deserve any final rewards (if they complain they are just entitled). And they also had fun during the run while getting rewards from that.
This is the 2nd post like this in which you’ve posted a similar comment. So I can only assume you are just trying to be a troll here as there is NO WAY you can justify kicking peeps at the last fractal boss in order to ‘sell the fractal’ or whatever (bad) reason you can come up with. (Or hopefully you’re just being sarcastic?)
I also agree Dredge needs to be made a bit shorter. Not necessarily made easier but just kitten shorter!
I mean, compared to the other ‘long’ fractals I’ve seen so far at 30+ (Thaumanova, Aetherblades (twice) & Dredge), Dredge is by far way, way more time-consuming to complete.
And it just doesn’t make sense that there would be such a time-disparity between it and the other aforementioned fractals. Right??
I recently noticed there’s new ‘permanent’ fractal achievements (i.e. under the ‘Dungeon’ category).
One of these is for Subject 6. However, isn’t this really a temporary achievement since Subject 6 is only found in the fractal story mode dungeon?
Also, now that I’ve completed story mode, how do I enter story mode again? (short of joining a party of someone who hasn’t yet done story mode?)
I for one am extremely pleased they are doing this. While my Mesmer main is frac level 40, I had no urge whatsoever to go through the grinding of alts to get them up to a similar level (a big reason was having to deal with that god-awful dredge fractal).
So you’re saying that all of us that did go through the challenge of leveling our alts can go to hell? Who cares if someone did work hard to get where they are, as long as I get what I want… That’s the exact way a lot of people that are pleased with the update are thinking. “It doesn’t affect me since I’m not really loosing anything, but at least they get all those people down to my level, so I can feel good about myself”.
Thanks Anet, for showing us how much dedicated players really mean to you…
I guess you missed my first comment about ‘looking at this both ways.’
Yes I can completely understand why you’re upset, but I’m sure ANet thought pretty hard about this change, and ultimately they must think this is for the betterment of the game.
I guess you can look at it both ways.

So for me this is a great move as I can now try out any of my 80s at frac 30 onwards without the grinding I was very much dreading before.
Also, if someone has already grinded a char to frac 30, they should already well know the ins and outs of each fractal – and so using another character shouldn’t be as big of a deal as you seem to think.
Does anyone have a video of the solo instance? Towards the end I missed the voice-conversations and cut-scene and wanted to watch a vid to see what I missed (instead of doing it all over again on another char)…
As a further observation on this ‘bug’, I was just trying to cap a mercenary camp when some enemies came along and forced me to run away. After waypointing back, I got the ‘Event Failed’ message but also received a point towards the ‘Mercenary Camp Captures’ achievement.
Is this really working as intended? I mean it’s great that I’m receiving progress towards the achievement, but it seems that it should only be progressing upon a successful camp capture on my behalf and not the enemy’s lol.
I’ve noticed this with at least three achievements:
*Daily WvW Sentry Captures
*Daily WvW Supply Camp Captures
*Seasonal WvW Mercenary Camp Captures
What happens is if you fail the appropriate event for either of the above achievements (e.g. while in progress of capping a supply camp an enemy comes along and kills you), then you still receive a point towards the achievement despite failing the event.
This is a bug, right??

Assuming an 80-game requirement, it’ll take 11 hours minimum to complete.
I don’t get it – 80 games for an ‘8 games’ achievement?
All the other activity repeatables have a 10-repeat maximum on achievement points. Hopefully this one is the same.
Strange – I don’t recall any of these LS games having repeatable achievement points. Pretty sure upon repeat I’ve just been given the chest and 0 aps – is the giving of repeat aps a recent change?

As the title states, during the Clocktower please add an option to turn on player models.
While not having them on is a great feature and does allow players to see where they’re jumping, the flip side is that the ‘added stress’ of seeing players like last year is missing.
Make it so ANet!
During my adventures throughout Tyria, I often find myself wanting to have not one but multiple minis out. ‘Hmm, today do I want that mini Liadri or Jenna? Scarlet or Caithe?’ etc.
Well, what if we had a ‘Mini-Box’ in which you could place your favorite minis and have them appear at customizable intervals? For example, have mini X appear for 30 seconds, mini Y for 30 seconds, Z for 30 seconds and so forth?
Better yet, the Mini-Box would be an account bound item accessible in a similar way we access stuff like the Zenith skins (i.e. no more minis taking up storage slots and inadvertently being deposited each time we deposit collectibles)
Now if implemented, I’m sure ANet would make this a gem store purchase, but hey I know it’s something I’d pony up for simply for the convenience.
What do folks think?

After many tries I finally got it – here’s what we did:
1). First killed the watcher and then a few mobs in back – we pulled to a pipe at back of the ‘two pipes area’ and stacked/killed there.
2). Pulled boss through the two pipes (eventually fighting him in the open space in back of room). We made sure to kill any adds that followed boss into the two-pipe area.
3). During boss fight we had two peeps go down (no deaths), and all were fully rezzed when boss died.
4). Also, during boss fight a few mobs in back were aggro’d – we made sure to kill them while fighting boss.
5). After killing boss, we aggro’d the rest of the mobs on floor and once killed got the achievement.
6). Also, I don’t believe we had to kill the two patrolling mobs walking on the raised area around room.
Now this group was incredibly pro (not a single wipe during run; and a complete pug group to boot). So that made possible all the pulls we did with no deaths.
Fyi we had one Mesmer (me), two Guardians and two Necros.
Good luck!!

How long is W2Z3 compared to W2Z2?

I have heard the flute can help with the ice cave…there’s evidently a song that will make all the icicles drop before you enter. I haven’t done it myself so I cannot verify this but anything to make it easier!
I think the ice cave referred to here is the one with the ice-spikes-o’-death you need to skate through while not being blown into them by the wind.
Afaik there’s no way to shortcut through it – but if someone out there knows of a way then please enlighten us
But I am playing…
And so am I!
Finished it up a couple days ago – did a bit over 1/2 on my own and used guides for the rest.
Definitely a lot of fun and some parts were quite maddening (the absolute worst being the ice-skating spikes room in W2-3).
Right behind that was the jaunt to the W1-3 shop where you need to mushroom-hop up that big hollow tree – only to get knocked all the way back down to your death by that kitten cloud :/ And also annoying was trying to open the flute-gate to get the last 2 shops in W2-3.

then you try trib mode… and a wild trib cloud in the one place where there werent any enemies! pure frustration and useless deaths. at least you can skip the gong tower.
Wait – you can skip the gong tower in trib (or normal) mode?
I think it’s intentional as it could easily be exploited.
Imagine if you put down Temportal Curtain and run past it sevral times by going back and forth with +12~ sec swiftness each time you past it. Then a mesmer would have 100% Swiftness uptime as the CD is only 25 sec (20 with trait). So in the future, get your swiftness from your Temportal Curtain before recieving any swiftness boost from any other player.
I actually noticed this behaviour recently and was wondering if it were a bug – but based on your explanation I can see why the devs did it this way.
Also, using 6xSuperior Rune of the Centaur is an option too for near permanent swiftness.
Trying to get up to the elite shop in W1Z3, getting to the top of the hollow log, and being knocked down to my death by clouds.
Until last night this was the hardest one for me too.
But now this has been replaced by the pole/trampoline/fishes gauntlet at the very end of W2Z2. It wouldn’t be so bad – except that the subsequent ‘cloud-buddy’ doesn’t work and instead ports you back to the checkpoint – forcing you to do the entire pole/trampoline/fishes gauntlet again :/
I hope W2Z3 doesn’t have anything this horrendous.
Tried the eagle in Trib for the first time

I actually got a bit of a chuckle out of this the first time I tried it lol.
Now regarding the last cloud-buddy that doesn’t work but instead ports you to the checkpoint of doom? Let’s just say I had a vastly different reaction to that :/
I would also like to express my frustrations regarding the bugged cloud-buddy checkpoint that the op mentions above.
After finally making it across that stretch of poles/trampolines/fishes and then activating the cloud-buddy, I was in total disbelief that upon my next death I was ported back to the prior checkpoint and not the cloud-buddy!
What makes matters worse is that this stretch is near the very end of the run – which can take quite a while to reach the first time through (even longer if not using a guide). And the fact that you can’t save your progress.
W2Z2, very last cloud checkpoint made me jump on the pillars and run trough fishes every single time instead from the flag, even if i activated it.
THIS ://////
This is extreeemmeelly annoying as the ‘stick-jumps’ and trying to get through the fishes without dying is imho the most challenging part of the whole run. And to finally get across there and activate the cloud-buddy – then upon death be put back at the prior checkpoint and do the whole kitten thing over again – I was literally about to chug my pc out the window! Please fix this!!
Can’t access the game atm – but was wondering if ANet added a bauble counter so you can see if you got them all prior to leaving the zone?
(I apologize if this isn’t deemed ‘Guild Wars 2’ related and if not then please delete.)
I’ve recently seen a few Guild Wars 2 YouTube vids where the camera ‘zooms in’ to a specific part of the vid. Does anyone know how to do this on YouTube?
I could have sworn that I saw this option under ‘annotations’ a couple years back but now I don’t see that anymore…
So Josh – in your humble opinion how will Tribulation Mode compare to the ‘Light Up The Darkness’ achievement? To date that’s the most challenging thing bar none* I’ve done in game.
If harder than that then yes – your vid above most definitely applies xD.
*To clarify, prior to Liadri your awesome Clocktower was easily the toughest thing I’d done, but as others have stated above the Clocktower didn’t involve any ‘rng elements’ like Liadri – and so that’s why she took me sooo long to finally ‘Light Up.’
I felt I needed to do this again as the first time I (a.) somehow got the achievement despite missing Liadri with the 4th orb and (b.) also didn’t have post-processing enabled (i.e. no screen-blinding).
And so here’s the result!
I even managed to do it without consumables (which I forgot to re-pop while running back from the waypoint)
From the wiki:
“Swiftness (movement speed increased by 33%; stacks duration) is a boon that provides an increase to movement speed. Other effects that provide a bonus to movement speed (e.g. certain traits and signets) do not stack with swiftness; only the highest increase in movement speed will be applied.”
I’m confused on the bolded portion above as it appears to be in direct contradiction with the ‘stacks duration’ part of this boon’s description. Also, I know of at least a couple cases where swiftness sources do indeed stack.
For instance, if you cross a Mesmer’s Temporal Curtain and then heal yourself while wearing 6xSuperior Runes of the Centaur, the swiftness durations from both sources are added together.
Can anyone help explain this? Is what I’m seeing a bug or working as intended?
I completed this achievement earlier today (Iron Marches was my last map) and luckily never encountered any ‘bugged’ maps (main or overflows) which didn’t count. Also I actively participated in any event I could get to.
I can’t say if a warrior is the best profession to do it on, but it is easy. This is what it looks like: http://youtu.be/hQKJBvN37DU and http://youtu.be/oi519Xk0lbw
Lol these are vastly different from what I dealt with on my Mesmer o.o
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
I have just done it for the first time and got the achivement. I have thrown 8 orbs. Guardian anchor build 0/0/30/30/10 with knight/zerker gear.
Gratz! And to clarify – by 8 orbs you mean 3 orbs during phase 1 and another 5 orbs during phase 2, right?
What class(es) are folks using that are able to repeatedly get 8 orbs on Liadri? With my Mesmer I barely survived as her damage was pretty intense. And I literally killed her off as I was falling through the floor.
I see Guardian above, but what else?
