^This vid looks like it was pre-patch as the plunderers only spawned on the left side. While still solo-able it is much more difficult now as plunderers will come from all 3 spawn points at 2 mins or so.
Basically ANet really needs to look at the scaling for 5-person parties as the mob health seems waayy too high compared to when soloing. Specifically the plunderers can be killed in a few seconds (with full zerker) when solo, but they take much longer with a full party.
As I’ll be gone a week starting Friday and won’t have access to the game, I’ve been working on getting all the BotFW achievements. However I just saw that ‘Like Clockwork’ (i.e. creating Charged Quartz Crystals – 8 total) can only be done once per day. And so I won’t have 8 days to work on this since I’ll be away (assuming these achievements disappear July 23rd.)
In the case of the achievement though, since it involves creating Charged Quartz Crystals (i.e. something that is a permanent addition to the game), will it still be available to complete past 7/23?
Not long, are you kidding me? Fractals is the longest thing you can do in this game after arah p4. Takes me always more than one hour while every dungeon can be completed in about 30 minutes at most. I’d say that if they keep putting the fractal thing as daily, with the upcoming achievement reward system, more people will leave after the first fractal. I just did it for that achievement point. And finding a group for a single fractal is an impossible thing at the moment. All i could do to do one fractal is to not tell them.
Actually I create “daily only” groups on gw2lfg all the time – just create a level 1 fractal group and say you’re only doing the 1 fractal for the daily achievement point (and ofc to be quick pre-roll Swamp or even Jellyfish).
On the other hand though, to be reported for leaving? That’s pretty silly as you can easily get a replacement especially since the group already has 1 fractal out of the way.
No dice here either
As another option, if you are not hosting the instance you can start the final fight with your party and when the AOE starts logg out. The remaining four party members will need to defeat Mai Trin and First Mate Horrik, then you will need to get back to the instance to acquire the achievement.
The GM here is describing a method whereby you get the achievement by still not taking any AOE damage as you are not participating in the fight once the AOE phase starts. (Actually I’d have thought this would be an ‘exploity’ way to get it, but now that a GM said it’s ok this is definitely good info to know!)
However, the OPs method apparently guarantees getting the achievement regardless of whether or not you took AOE damage.
So I guess I’d still be careful as imho what the op describes and what the GM told you are not quite the same thing.
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
Funny thing is, a GM responded to one of my tickets telling me that this was one of the methods to obtain this. Literally told me to log out and relog to avoid the cannons.
If a GM actually said this then I completely take back what I said (mind posting their response?)
For the record, last night I got through ‘Faster Than Light’ unscathed but wasn’t awarded the achievement. Yes I was peeved but the thought never cross my mind to ‘trick’ the system into giving it to me (i.e. with the logout method).
However if GMs are telling folks it’s ok to do this then that’s another matter entirely.
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
Is this what the game has come to? Nobody wants to work towards achievements as they are intended to be earned?
And thank you for telling us all here about this exploit so ANet can promptly patch this up!
Yes Mai Trin is quite buffed in her picture on the main page (lol just had to say it)
FYI a tad bit of good news regarding this achievement…
If the party wipes and you restart this fight, you still can get the achievement! (i.e. no need to restart dungeon)
We verified this just now as our group wiped and on the second attempt one of us got it (assuming the guy wasn’t lying, and I doubt he was as he has over 9k achievement points).
Golems will only pull you if they are overcharged (hit by the laser), and prioritize people standing on crates. Pop stability as soon as you see a golem raise its arm towards you.
I run a mesmer and afaik the only stability I have comes from a mantra (ugh). What class were you using? Seems like Warriors would have a nice advantage here.
For those who’ve gotten this achievement, what tips can you share?
Like what class were you using? (and skills/traits for movement/dodging?)
And what type of damage? (seems like conditions actually work really well here?)
^This is my only complaint atm and sums it up perfectly.
If I knew I could get the achievements ‘eventually’ it would be fine, but seeing how the dungeon is only up for a short time and getting certain achievements depend heavily on your party, I can see this might be the first special event I’m not able to 100% qq.
Wait – so you can dodge-roll through the beams? I asked about this last night and was told ‘not unless you want to lose a bunch of health lol.’
And by dodge-roll I assume you mean without taking damage? (and therefore being able to get the ‘Faster Than Light’ achievement?)
^Ugh. I was hoping that if the group dies and the fight begins again – that you could try for achievement again in the same run. Otherwise, I can easily see peeps chasing this achievement bailing runs upon laser hits.
The Southsun dungeon achievement like this was great as you could get it during the solo story mode. qq.
So I just tried dungeon and this looks tough (at least with pug – as your success here greatly increases with competent group).
My question now is whether or not you can fail and then get achievement after party WPs and tries again – or must you do this the very first time? Anyone know?
Depends on how good you are at moving…after the first phase, you’re constantly moving. Most players won’t get it the first time through.
Last thing – do you get the achievement at the end of the dungeon or right after the lasers part?
Faster Than Light is a skill achievement gotten for not getting hit by the electric fields.
How difficult though? And about how long into dungeon before you can attempt it?
Haven’t had a chance to try out the new dungeon yet, and was wondering how difficult these two new achievements are?
Also, I take it this dungeon really isn’t soloable? I guess I’m wondering if having other party members will make it harder to get these achievements?
Yesterday I (finally) participated in killing Taidha Covington and received a silver reward. But much to my dismay, I didn’t receive credit for the ‘Kill the Hydra Queen’ boss achievement! (the last one that I, and I’m sure many others, still need).
So is this currently bugged? Also while doing this I was guested to Tarnished Coast (from Devona’s Rest).
Please fix!!
Buy orders vs. Sell orders prices, the 1700g you see is the current maximum buy order for the object.
Thanks for the clarification!
So really Eternity is not selling for 1,700g but 2,950g, and so the real $ figures discussed above should be updated to take this into account.
I was doing some quick math in my head and it seemed that 1,700g for Eternity was extremely low (because it’s the combo of 2 legendaries). So I just looked at the TP and while it does show initially as 1,700g , if you click on it the actual selling price goes way up to 2,950g (and 3,199.99.99g for the 2nd one, there are only 2 available).
So the ‘real $$ cost’ is dramatically higher than discussed above.
Also, what’s the deal with the disparity in those TP prices?
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
I haven’t tried this yet due to the food ‘exploit.’ But like how quick are the games – and how many players?
Just won a match – the daily achievement is still bugged again today qq
Just won a game for the dailys and didn’t get credit. Is this happening for others too?
^Thx – I figured this was the case. Ofc I’d happily upgrade the rings/backpack prior to adding the simple infusion, but my luck getting vials/globs/shards has been pretty horrible as I don’t yet have enough to upgrade a single item.
Oh well – at least simple infusions only cost 75 fractal relics…
Last question.
If I put a versatile simple infusion (+5 AR) on an ascended ring which doesn’t yet have the built-in +5 AR – and then later decide to upgrade the ring to include the built-in +5 AR – will I lose the versatile simple infusion?
So I was fooled once again…
Both the Keg Brawl Scorer and Crab Toss Champion daily achievements are working again.
^Thanks – but looking at this I’m still unclear on how to upgrade an ascended item to get the +5 ‘built-in’ AR?
Although looking at those higher-level infusion recipes, they seem a bit ridiculous for the cost vs benefit o.o. And so I’ll definitely just stick with the ‘basic’ +5 AR one (i.e. Versatile Smple Infusion).
I’m looking to get full berzerker gear for my Mesmer, but before I get anything I’m trying to understand what’s the deal with infusions and agony resistance.
Basically, I recently read that you can upgrade an ascended item in the mystic forge to have +5 agony resistance ‘built-in’ – and on top of this you’re still able to add another +5 agony resistance via the infusion slot.
So my questions are:
1). What’s needed to upgrade ascended items to get the +5 built-in agony resistance?
2). For the offensive/defensive/utility infusion slot, if you plan to run fractals would you just put +5 agony resistance there – or is there an upgraded infusion which offers both the +5 agony resistance and some other stat? (e.g. Power?)
3). To run high-level fractals, what’s the minimum AR one should have?
4). Is 60 AR (+10 per ascended item) the highest AR currently possible?
Many thanks guys…
Any advice on where to get ‘cheap’ exotic Berzerker weapons? Like is using dungeon tokens possible to get Zerker weps?
Thanks the the input guys!
To clarify I’ll be using the Zerker gear for PvE/WvW (just for zergs).
Also, for the ascended gear, isn’t their some stipulation that you can’t wear 2 of the same item? I’d hate to waste laurels or badges on something I can’t use…
Further, for the stats, what are the sub-traits to choose? (i.e. the Roman-numeraled ones?)
Hey all – from reading the general forums I see that full Berzerker gear is all the rage currently.
However is this just from a Warrior perspective or for any class? (i.e. Mesmer?)
If so, can someone either write out or link a thead listing what accessories/armor/runes/weapons/sigils/traits I should use?
Much appreciated!
The big ones only target crab carriers as well. Here’s how to get Crabtacular:
- Grab crab.
- Run from other players.
- Run towards big karka.
- Dodge big karka roll.
- Watch karka roll over everyone who was chasing you.
- Laugh.
Here was my strategy.
Grab crab, run like a fool, and out of the blue get awarded with achievement.
In other words, luck seems to be a big part of this.
For the new F&F dungeon, lately I see that groups want to first kill the Dredge Firestorm boss and then stack directly under (i.e. inside the red ring) the Charr Berzerker boss as his deadly AoE attack won’t hit you there.
Is this an exploit – or intended?
It would be great to get ANet’s feedback here so I can tell folks ahead of time (if a bug) that I don’t want to employ this tactic…
Note: All my comments are from a PvE standpoint.
Of my level 80s (Mesmer, Ele, Warrior & Ranger), I found Mesmer to be my best solo-er with Ranger being a close second (and on her I’ve only unlocked Adept traits and have not yet equipped any exotic armor).
For my Ele I found I needed to equip full exotics in order to get through Orr. Was doable but had a much tougher time than my Mesmer or Ranger.
And lastly my Warrior was ok but irrc I couldn’t really solo champions (however I’m not using exotics so perhaps that’s part of the issue).
Basically, Mesmer and Ranger seem to have an easer time because they can constantly use clones or pets to soak up damage they would otherwise take directly – whereas Ele and Warrior take much more of that damage directly.

I also got the SAB titles without dodge-jumping.
However, once I found out about this technique from an ANet post, I quickly saw how much easier some of the harder jumps became (like the one in World 1 Zone 3 where you go behind a tree-stump and have to make a very long jump from a venus flytrap to get a bauble in a corner). It also allowed me to speed-run through zones much more quickly.
So yes it’s not required to get the titles, but it definitely makes it easier (at least for me).
The issue is points which are impossible to get. HOM points can be gotten. Holiday points can be gotten. Those points are achievable. Daily points simply are not.
I’m not sure the past holiday achievement points can still be gotten. Like it wouldn’t surprise me next year if they offered a different set?
Would be nice to get an ANet confirmation on this.
PvE leaderboards? Do you have a link for this? (just curious as I completely missed the announcement).
So what should the pve leaderboards measure once they are released? What metric or metrics would best represent pve differentiation?
As you said speedclear times would be awesome to see officialy posted.
(edited by Day Trooper.3605)
We’ve tried it a few times, but it is difficult to get started, so if you solo or do it with few people, you waste a LOT of time.
We’ll try again with a bigger group some time during server peak hours so that we can go through all the pre-events faster and people don’t get frustrated and quit half way.
This is what I was referring to – I had a feeling this must be a bit tricky to do as I never see anyone doing it.
Would you mind if I tag along? I normally get on nightly around 9:30 cst and would love to knock this out.
So I want to get my last boss achievement ‘Kill the Hydra Queen’ – how best to do this?
I ask as during my exploration of Bloodtide Coast I’ve yet to see this event pop up.
How do you start it? And is it soloable, or do you need a group?
Thanks!
So I recently got the achievement and as folks above me said you don’t need to return a wisp to get it.
Fyi if you’re having trouble like I was, (for this or any other fractal achievement) simply start a group by yourself and zone in and out until you get the right fractal. Then put a post on GW2LFG.com and ask players to join.
I created a level 10 daily group and had 4 players in no time. At level 10 most players have a pretty good idea of what to do, and so it makes things go much more smoothly as opposed to say a level 1 group with potential players who haven’t done fractals before.
from what I’ve seen you don’t need to be the wisp runners you just have to get to the boss room without hitting any of the traps.
As of a couple nights ago I didn’t get the achievement and I’m certain I didn’t trigger any traps. However I also didn’t run any wisps, and so I figured that must be the difference.
I’ll try it again without running any wisps and report my findings.
As long as you personally don’t trigger any traps you should be able to get it, only way pugs can prevent you getting it is by taking multiple wisp runs to succeed thereby increasing the amount of time you got to dodge all traps/
This is precisely the issue and hence why I thought I’d ask if anyone else needs help getting this too so we could party up and knock out.
Also someone above said something about going afk and getting the achievement – I’m fairly certain you must return a wisp in order to get it so afk’ing isn’t an option.
I need help completing the swamp fractal ‘Fancy Footwork’ achievement (the last fractal achievement I need).
I know what to do – it’s just that I’m having trouble getting it with pugs (and ofc the fact that you only have a 33% chance of the swamp fractal appearing per run).
So I was wondering if anyone else needs this and would like to group up? We’d basically zone in and out until we get the swamp fractal and then do it until all party members receive the achievement.
Any interest? I normally run evenings from 9:30 cst onward.
That’s just it, we’ve all made it through the Fractal without tripping any traps, but not all at the same time, and none of us have gotten it.
It’s a buggy achievement, I had to do it twice before it registered for me. I did it solo though, so I can confirm it is not a group achivement.
Sorry for necro-thread – but you state you did this solo. So I take it this means you only had to return 1 wisp?
I think a lot of it has to do with how large your thumb knuckle is. The split second it needs to happen will come sooner or later depending on the size of the knuckle or angle of the thumb. The skill comes down to replicating the perfect angle every time. And it’s important to be able to make your regular jump even if you miss the dodge part of it. When I was first learning, if I missed the dodge part I also failed to jump and kept dying.
Mr. Foreman – do you see any issue with binding the two dodge-jump keystrokes to a single key on a programmable mouse? In the limited time I tried this out it worked 100% of the time – but I won’t do this anymore if it’s a no-no from ANet’s standpoint.
And thanks for the feedback!
I’m not sure about the technicalities of it. I’m on vacation this week so I can’t walk down the hall and ask someone. But you have hit the dodge something like a tenth of a second after the jump. I don’t even know if you could bind that with a programmable mouse.
I just tried this out and it does indeed work. However, if it’s something that is against the ANet EULA then I won’t do it (although it would be extremely nice to have the ability to bind dodge-jump in game hint hint).
Per an ANet suggestion related to the Super Adventure Box, I’ve started using the dodge-jump technique. While definitely helpful, there are still some tight jumps where it’s difficult to pull off successfully 100% of the time.
However, if you have a programmable mouse (or keyboard too?) you could bind a key combo like CTRL+V for dodge-jump.
But would this be something that could get you banned? I’m guessing no since it’s not an exploit and you still have to be ‘at the computer playing the game’ (i.e. not a bot) – but I thought I would check first.
