The zerg exists because the game is designed for it. Take a look at world bosses. Go to a site like the following….
http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/
The fact that the bosses spawn like they do, the fact that such a website can exist, is the problem. If these spawns were random, unpredictable, and have multiple bosses spawning at the same time, this would make it harder for zergs to form.
It shouldn’t be about standing around at the next spawn waiting for it to spawn. It should be about going about your own business and OMG WHAT IS THAT COMING OUT OF THE SWAMP?!
It shouldn’t be about going on a website and finding out when and where the next boss spawns. It should be about the boss pre-event is up spread the word.
It shouldn’t be about following the order listed on the website. It should be about “what? Karka, Shatter, and SB events are all spawned at once?”.
Mix it up, shake it up, make it unpredictable, make players have to choose, etc.
That is, of course, if they insist on leaving it an open world event.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. With the personal story you go to some point on the map and click on some green marker which puts you in an instance portion of the map.
These world bosses would be way better as raid bosses where you form a raid group, click on the map marker and face the boss in an instanced portion of the map.
As for WvW, that is a different beast. It’s all about the bigger blob and all about capping stuff. Only few places are defended for strategic purposes. Keeps for the purpose of the way points.
Camps and towers swap back and forth constantly because there is no real benefit in defending. You flip a camp and you take supplies directly from the camp. Same with towers if it has supplies in it. While taking towers that don’t have supplies, we have actually allowed yaks to drop off the supplies first then kill it.
It does bring up a good point. Outfits can be applied without the need for transmutation charges. They can be put on a brand new character and as you swap gear while you level, you never have to worry about your character’s look. They can be dyed as well. The down side is that you can’t mix and match. It’s all or nothing. You can hide your helmet though.
People complain though. Too many outfits and not enough 6 piece sets. People like to mix and match. People may like just parts of an outfit but not the whole thing. While you can a one time transmutation upon purchase, it’s pointless to put it on a new character. You won’t get the charges fast enough to keep up with how fast you will upgrade your gear. One top of that, what about players with 12+ characters? You can get charges through PS and map completion (each city map completion gives you one). However, these are just one time things per characters. Once done, it can’t be redone with the same character.
I think they did it right with the Zenith skins. You can open up your achievements tab and withdraw them at will. For the cost of these skins, they too should work in a similar fashion. Once purchased, a player should be able to withdraw any piece at will.
Best and worst in terms of what?
In PvE physical damage is the way to go due to the limiting nature of conditions from multiple sources. People find it good enough to use the available active defenses (dodge, evades, protection, etc.) in PvE and just spec all zerker. This is considered optimal over other builds. However this is between builds and not professions.
On the other hand, some professions are perferred in certain situations because of what they bring to the table. A thief’s SR can be great at bypassing mobs in dungeons. Guardian bring a bunch of buffs and are often seen in dungeon parties as well as WvW. I’m not that familiar with sPvP to comment. Warriors also have a strong presence in dungeons and WvW alike.
In terms of build, I already covered zerker in PvE. In WvW it depends. Condi build is seen a lot in WvW. Condi builds can give you the best of both. Good damage (~1k – 3k condi ticks) while also providing good survivability (toughness and vitality). Condi clensing comes from skills, traits, food, runes, and sigils. Condi sources tend to be more plentiful and on shorter CD than clenses. Thus a condi build has little compromise while physical damage builds tend to have to compromise more between damage and survivability.
Run off hand pistol in one of your weapon sets. Pistol 4 their rapid fire.
Well between ranger and thief, the thief is in a slightly better situation for using this rune. Only one ranger trap doesn’t do direct damage when triggered while the thief has two. Unless the damage from the called in thief (Ambush) counts however since Thieves Guild doesn’t, I doubt Ambush does either.
The only way you can get 1500 range and piercing arrows is if you put 6 pts in the trait line and not bother with a grand master trait.
Many ranged skills that state 1200 auto at that range. If you actually press 1 at targets between 1200 and 1500, you will still hit them even without the trait. This goes for many professions and not just ranger.
2000+ is achieve by shooting down from an elevated position. In which case, the next target your piercing shot hits is the ground.
As stated already, tagging =/= killing. Even if you barrage and rf down a corridor with piercing shot, the most number of players you will hit is 10. That assumes that those hit by rf are not being hit by barrage and vice versa. The only way to hit more than that is for the enemy to move around in which case you don’t hit each person the full amount of either skill.
Now if a group of 5 actually allows you to hit them for the full barrage and rf, well…..
Point blank shot + piercing into a zerk stack near a cliff and ta-da, instantly killed 5 players will a single shot. Wow, congrats. Does that mean Necro wall or staff 5 needs to be nerfed too? No, it means the enemy needs to have better situational awareness.
I, kinda like the OP, used to comment on thieves. I too decided to play one and have been for some time now. Pay no attention to many of these delinquents. Especially those who say things like “Gonna necro staff all day long”.
Thief skills cost initiative and initiative takes time to come back. If other professions, had this system, then I’d like to see someone spam necro staff 5 if it cost 7 initiative to cast. In addition to this, you can’t have two of the same mark.
Originally the game was suppose to have the energy system used in GW1 and the new profession coming out will make use of an energy system. So the request is not unreasonable in the slightest.
The initiative system would bring to other classes what it does to thieves. Better use of skills. If all you do is spam skills because you have the initiative to do so, then you won’t get very far. You will find yourself out of initiative and left to only using utility and auto.
Yet on a CD system, if you use a skill simply because it’s off CD then you will find yourself without the skill at a time when you need it. So like the thief, you won’t get very far.
Between the two, the initiative system is more forgiving. Yet in both systems the best thing you can do as a player is what you do already as a player. Use the skills at the opportune time to make efficient use of them.
Hmm. I have an 80 thief that I’ve been using quite a bit. Especially in WvW.
The only teleports I use is steal and shadow shot. That’s it. Yet with just those alone I can keep up with a nike warrior.
The biggest problem with this game is the difference of speeds. I think everyone should just have the 25% by default and change the skills, traits, and runes that give 25% to something else. It does nothing except hold back the potential for better build diversity.
Now when it comes to a thief (although not limited to thief), the biggest issue has been stealth. It is OP, it really is. It’s what makes thief OP, and it is what makes Mesmers OP.
The problem is that it also makes a thief playable. A thief’s survivability depends on it. Their shadow trait line (the one that enhances stealth) is also their toughness and healing power line. It pigeon holes thieves into relying on stealth as their defense.
While the items you steal are nice, steal is primarily used for other reasons depending on the traits you take. Deal damage and heal yourself, gain stealth, gain swiftness and fury. Also used as a gap closer. The item itself is just a bonus.
If they are nerfing teleports and leaving stealth, then they are doing it backwards. A thief’s survivability should come from being difficult to catch. Give them better evades and teleports (which can be traited to remove conditions, grand more initiative, remove immobs, etc.) which also break stun. Change the stolen items to be better and the meaning behind using steal in the first place. Get rid of stealth.
For mesmers it should be about misdirection. While thieves move around and are simply hard to hit, mesmers should be about confusing the enemy (I don’t mean the condition). A mesmer produces a clone and instead of continuing to have the mesmer targeted, you have the clone targeted. Reduce the difference between the real one and the fake ones. Make it so the fake ones move around a bit more. Make it so when the real one jumps, they all jump or when the real one dodges, they all dodge. Make all buffs, even food buffs, show up on clones. Give the clones a little more survivability. Get rid of stealth.
The game hands out dragonite, bloodstone and empyreal shards like candy.
I too am finding it harder and harder to log in. It’s a two sided coin. On the one side, if it’s too easy to get then people have nothing to work toward. They get it all quick and easily and will get bored. However, if it’s too much to get, then people will see it as unobtainable for them. It becomes disheartening and makes a person want to give up and quit (aka the OP).
Already, crafting is the only reliable way of getting it which that alone is enough to make people not want to bother for it.
Now if people had to max out their crafting and spend months to craft out legendary armor and legendary trinkets, as they do with weapons now, then that would be good. Unlike between exotic and ascended (I don’t care how small, a difference is still a difference), there is no stat difference between ascended and legendary. It’s skin and stat customization only.
Also, legendary should be the one that is time gated. The one that should be account bound upon creation. The one that should only be obtainable via crafting it yourself by maxing your crafting. etc.
Ascended should be obtainable via other means than crafting (merchants using various combination of the currencies). They should be the one that can be traded on the TP (instead of Legendary).

Fractal runs when the guild is up for it.
Dungeon runs when the guild is up for it.
Picking at map completion for characters that still need it.
Personal story for characters that still need it.
LS when available (main only).
Lots of WvW.
~3-6 hours of play per day.
Lucky to get 200g in a month.
Been playing since about 6months after launch. Played WvW primarily and have been involved in massive 40vs40vs40 man zergs fighting over SM. My computer lags down durring these three ways. Although “lag” is a bad term. My framerates drop off.
I’ve had my skills respond a full second after activating when I was solo fighting a sentry with nobody else around but please continue to say “it’s your computer”.
I’ve had my game crash durring the Karka Queen as a result of too much going on. This then gives me I kind of GW error report window. I’ve had, while simply running across a WvW map solo, the game cut out and get a ‘lost connection’ message but please tell me that the second scenario is still ‘my computer’.
My network connection icon will display a ‘caution’ icon when I’m connected to my modem but the modem is not connected to the internet. This icon doesn’t show but please tell me It’s my computer.
I run two seperate speed tests which show my connectivity to two seperate hubs and show my full 40mb/s speeds. This is done on my other monitor while the game is still running while the game is having lag issues. I’d love to hear how it’s just my computer.
How about when this lag occurs durring guild ops, everyone seems to share varying degrees of lag (so anywhere from 5 to 15 of us all sharing lag issues). That must be my computer too.
Or maybe some of us know the difference between a lagging computer, connectivity issues between the computer and ISP, connectivity issues between the ISP and game server, and lagging servers.
There has been a definite increase in server lag recently.
+1 ^
Well it all go backs to Zerker problem, as bad as holy trinity is, it is still way better than all zerker.
I’ll take playing with my own build and slapping some zerker gear on every now and then over having to be forced to wait for a healer/tank to do content any day of the year.
How about playing with your own build and slapping some tank or healer gear on every now and then and not have to wait for a healer/tank at all.
Materials is one step too far removed. Gathering mats does not get you an ascended.
Crafting gets you the ascended. For which you need to level that crafting to max. An obscenely rare chance of a drop is the other way.
Thus there is only two ways to get ascended and only one is reliable.
With exotic I can craft (the act of getting it and not simply gathering mats for which there is plenty of ways here too), spend karma (I can get karma in many different ways), get it as a drop (unreliable but better odds than ascended), spend gold + badges from vendor, spend gold on TP (craft or drop being the ultimate source).
I can’t spend karma on ascended, I can’t spend gold + badges, and I can’t spend gold on TP.
I enjoyed leveling with P/P for alot. Try out S/P for a more melee focus’d build if you get bored.
Another good leveling build is caltrops, shortbow and D/D. Stack condition damage. Healing signet. The caltrops count as a hit and heal you while doing great damage to pve mobs. The evade on the D/D looks cool and stacks more bleeds, its great fun.
I’m surprised that the caltrops count as a hit since they don’t break stealth. Or do condition tics trigger the signet?
Something I stumbled across (although I’m sure most of you probably know already) is combing d/p Shadow Shot with Ricochet. That is fun. Made me which it was guaranteed to bounce between targets.
Basically the only time Vampiric/Vampiric Precision start healing for meaningful amounts is with pulsing AoE effects.
Do you mean wells? I thought it didn’t work with wells which was why there is the master trait that causes wells to also steal health.
I run a vampiric build and I enjoy it. Your biggest sources of stealing health come from three sources.
The trait to steal health on hit
The trait to steal health on crit
Omnom Berry Pie (66% steal health on crit)You want a high precision and a fast attacking weapon.
I don’t bother with the sigil and rune. Too subpar vs the above three.
Funny, considering the sigil out-does both traits combined.
For example, consider at 150 healing power, the absolute minimum to have Vampiric, Vampiric heals you for 31 and Vampiric Precision heals for 39. On a crit, you heal for 70. Superior Sigil of Blood heals for 468 at the same healing power.
This means that assuming only crits, you need to crit 6.7 times in 5 seconds to break even. Now, it’s easy to hit this many times, but in your typical situation, you’re looking at ~9 hits, 4 of which are crits. This is 435 health healed up, which, ironically, is lower than the sigil’s base healing value by 18 health. And the sigil scales at 10% healing power instead of a laughable .4%. This means that as you invest into more healing power, the sigil draws further and further away from Vampiric+Vampiric Precision.
Can’t argue with the omnomberry, though I’d suggest using Ghosts as they last longer and are probably cheaper due to Halloween supply.
Suppose I should’ve looked it up before dismissing it. I assumed it only healed the same as the other three sources listed but with a cd that ultimately made it heal for much less. I think I might add it in now, thnx.
I have a lvl 80 thief, necro, ranger, and warrior.
When I first hit 80 on my warrior I created a “sniper”. It was all about doing the most physical damage with my rifle in a single hit (aka Kill Shot) which has a what? Oh that’s right, a 1500 range. I remember I was with a small group (4 of us in total) and we came across a guardian. The guardian still had half hp and started to run. Yup, 15K crit (100% crit chance) dropped them instantly. Did a 20K crit on a thief, who had entered stealth at the time the shot happened, dropping them from full hp.
To be a problem at 1500 on a ranger a few things have to line up.
1. The ranger must invest a minimum of 4 trait points in the power line to take the trait. Warrior gets the 1500 KS by default but does need to build up adrenaline.
2. Be a zerker build (same as the warrior).
3. Actually hit with every shot of RF. Warrior gets it in just one single shot. Not one way is better than the other. The one shot is an all or nothing and can be dodged. Dodging RF mean reducing the damage instead of negating altogether but as a channel, it allows for more reaction time to dodge unlike KS which can come as a surprise.
Then there is my thief. Oh wow, talk about easy mode in WvW. The best advantage is not having to commit to the fight. Not going your way? SR and GTFO. I can get far enought to OOC and then waypoint before the stealth even wears off. I started off with a physical damage build but switch to a condi build and wow. OP as hell (fault of condi builds not thief). I recently went back to physical damage because I found it more fun.
I have never had a problem closing the gap on a ranger with my thief. I also don’t run glass so I’ve never had a ranger (even a zerker one) down me with RF from full hp. Also helps that my physical damage build is d/p and so pistol #4 will stop RF the moment it starts.
Yet on my ranger (combo knights and zerker) I run LB + S/Wh. QZ + Wh #4 + RF on a thief usually means one dead thief. Seriously, don’t run glass and if you do and get bursted down don’t go crying on the forums for a nerf to the class that burst you down.
My necro is a power/wells necro so does very poor in one on ones. It’s for zerg busting. Even still, I’ve won my fair share of 1v1 vs all other professions.
Even so, I don’t have much problem with a ranger. My wells are ground targeted. I use a staff with larger marks and unblockable. DS auto for great range damage, DS #2 works wonders as a gap closer. 300 units is very short and easy to beat to get my ranged attacks on them.

You read it on the forums. It has been suggested before.
open field is fun at all but often pointless
Really? Do you realize how nonsensical that sounds?
Having fun in a video game is never pointless, it’s the ENTIRE point of playing….
Football is fun to play. It also has rules to follow and a method. If all that appeals to you is throwing and catching the ball then playing football is not for you since all you want to do is play catch.
Two zergs facing off is part of the game but it’s not THE game.
Dead or Alive comes to mind lol.
Anyway, EvE has one of the best character creations I’ve seen in a video game.
The problem is the zerker part of your post which has nothing to do with the nike part of the warrior build. Warriors can achieve great tankiness vs both physical and condition, have mobility rivaling a thief, and still deal great physical damage (1200 avg damage per hit) all at once.
The only way for other professions to achieve the damage a warrior can while being as tanky is if they go with a condi build.
The pet isn’t under estimated. You just went against bad players. I run an 80 ranger and an 80 thief and while I deal with thieves fine on my ranger, I do so with my ranger and not my pet. My pet actually makes it harder for me vs a thief with off hand dagger since I can dodge CnD but my pet can’t.
A mesmer shouldn’t have an issue against any profession that specializes in single target dps. The biggest thing you can do to a mesmer to leave them helpless is being able to pop their clones the moment they make them. That’s where the condi’s come from and that is what they hide behind. So dealing really good aoe (ele would do great here) is great.
You should really try roaming on a higher tier (T3 here) for people who do roam, know their class really well.
Warrior, Guardian shield skill are bad.
What is PPT? I’m very new to WvW and since you mentioned that a lot in your post, I feel like its something I should probably know… <:C
Points Per Tick.
Look at the top of your screen while in WvW to see it. Works on a 15min interval (tick).
There is bit a flaw in the design of it though. Since the points only add to the score at the end of the 15min, people will often ignore capture until the timer is low. You get a tower with less than 5min left and you are guaranteed to have it for the tick since RI will still be on the lord. In addition to this, sometimes there is no point defending. It’s better to let the opposing team take it and then just get it back later before the tick if the opposing team takes it early. While this offers strategy, I feel it really takes away from the essence of what WvW is about.
SM being 35 points, it shouldn’t award the full 35 points to whichever side has it at the end of the 15min, instead it should award point based on how long you have it for the 15min.
If you have it for the full 15min, you get the full 35 points. If you have it for only 5 min out of the 15, then 5 is 33% of 15 and so you will get ~11 to 12 points.
This would make defending what you have more important then letting the enemy take it just to take it later.
I am curious about why Knighthonor.4061 didn’t just get that there’s a trinity in this game that is DPSsss, Control, and support.
Traiditional trinityyyy is the most boring way to make an MMO of them all. Why did they make a whole game with non-traditional trinity roles.
I rather have DPSsss and keep the Control and Support.
Anybody else agree?
Nope because that particular trinity doesn’t exist. Bosses have Unshakeable which makes a control build useless and Support is a secondary effect that comes from the traits and utility skills you choose. It doesn’t depend on gear and so everyone just goes zerker/dps.
I’d rather it not be a “trinity” at all, but more complex. Tank, Healer, Physical DPS, Condition DPS, Control, and Support. Give the game all of them. Allow each profession to spec into any one of these roles.
As it stands now, someone usually gets the blame when even a zerker group wipes. The bickering, name calling, etc. It happens now anyway. People will be people and it has nothing to do with the existence (or non existence) of certain roles.
Ranger pets. If they are suppose to be the “pet” class, then why does the “pet” portion lack substance. They should’ve left that in.
The lore books looked great. I too would love to see them.
All in all, this was painful to watch. So much removed that would’ve been great to keep. It feels, after watching, that what we got was a dumbed down joke designed for button monkeys with more money to throw at the gem store than brains.
Rebind
/15chars.
If it’s a quick and easy thing to do…
Regarding the Carapace Vestments, it currently has a three color pallet. One of which provides a secondary color to the main garment while also providing the color to an ornament. My suggestion would be to give the ornament it’s own color pallet.
A warrior’s shouts are for allies while the ranger’s “shouts” are commands for your pet. Shout is perhaps a bad label. Maybe they should be labelled “Commands”.
However, as a shout, it is affected by Trooper Runes, and there is a trait that allows them to grant swiftness and regen to nearby allies but the range is pathetic.
I have one of each profession. I have my ranger, thief, necro and warrior at 80. The skill in question starts off on CD. It also depends on the pet. Interrupt the pet and you interrupt the skill.
On my thief, if I get SR down before I go down then I can skill 2 away and res myself back up before the stealth wears off. I guess, using skill 4 should reveal you?
Warriors have a trait that gives them a 100% chance to rally if they get credit for killing something after using their skill 3. So they can use it, burst down a normal mob (a nearby deer or bore) and they’re good to go. Can’t out dps that. I guess something needs to be done about that too?
Now not all are created equal. Necro can give up it’s build and with the right traits, can actually achieve a regen from their #1 downed skill that rivals the ranger’s lick wounds. I guess this shouldn’t be allowed either?
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen ele’s mist form their way into a keep or tower to res themselves back up.
How about you L2P instead.
L2 Interrupt the pet to interrupt the skill.
L2 Immobilize the ele so they can’t go anywhere when they mist form.
L2 Stop putting all your dps onto the Shadow Refuge field after it has expired (the thief won’t be there anymore) and place it in the area around where the SR was.
L2 Interrupt the downed necro’s #1 skill (especially in the very unlikely case that they spec’ed for downed state).
Most importantly…
L2Stomp.
Additional hint regarding the thief in stealth. Listen carefully, you just might hear their character say something like “Help me!” when they use skill 4 while in stealth. I have surround sound so not only do I know that they are trying to rez but I know which direction it comes from. So I auto in that direction. I often get whispers from said thief accusing me of using some ‘see through stealth’ hack.
While out hunting, I shoot something and think “he had a good life, short but good”.
I agree with the OP. If you have someone blocked then you should not be able to whisper them. They’ll continue to see what you say in /say, /map, etkittenil they block you but whispers should be automatic.
I just want to add to it because there is a small work around. It would be possible to whisper first then block. My suggestion is if you whisper someone and then block, the block doesn’t take affect until 30sec after the whisper.
Why?
Well, the whole point of the problem is people with whisper knowing full well that you can’t say anything back to them. They feel empowered by it. You remove this protection and they will think twice about doing it in the first place.
I took the medium armor chest piece and broke it down to the bare basics of what I would need.
300 silk scraps just for the chest piece vs 160 wool scraps, 160 linen scraps, and 80 cotton scraps. The only thing that it requires more than 300 of are the Piles of Bloodstone Dust, Dragonite Ore, and Empyreal Fragments which it requires 500 of each. However, these are non trade-able and given out like candy.
I’m also pretty sure that the silk is shared between all three armor classes (light, medium, heavy) unlike, for example, the 200 Thin Leather Sections, 100 Coarse Leather Sections, 200 Rugged Leather Sections, and 150 Thick Leather Sections required for the medium piece.
I wonder if light armor requires even more…
This over reliance on silk by all three armor types for the crafting of ascended is what’s driving the price up and changing the requirements would certainly impact the price.
I’m sure those that use hacks appreciate the warning so they turn them off…..
Guardian in the general sense. Following the Priests of the human gods, any profession.
Ran some tests. While in combat you can not switch BL nor can you go to EotM or OS. You can click to leave and it’ll let you returning you to whichever PvE map (or sPvP) you entered WvW from in the same state you left WvW in.
If you alt-f4, use the menu to return to character selection, or have the game dc/crash, you log back in dead with the need to repair indicating you were defeated (not suicide) and credit is given by those who got the tag on you. This has been tested and confirmed.
HoD didn’t have any of the WvW maps queued at the time (confirmed by a reliable source).
This leaves just two options since all other possibilities have been exhausted.
Exploit or hack.
Using the leave option, while possible, is an obvious oversight (design flaw) that was not intended to be used by people about to lose a fight to get out of losing. It’s something that is being used just for that matter. I’m willing to bet we’ll see a fix for this in the future.
Wierd, I saw something like this happen a few days ago, but with a warrior. I fought him, downed him underwater, and suddenly he vanished. No loot or EXP, or anything.
Someone mentioned they might have left for another map. Would opening the WvW tab and jumping to EOTM/different BL still grant exp and loot?
Only if you are queued up already and it happens to pop. Otherwise you can’t just open the WvW and click to switch BL. I haven’t tried the leave button, nor have I tried to enter EotM however I think the second is unlikely since I have tried to go into OS when a skale attacked me and it wouldn’t let me.
It’s good to see others coming forth. Some players knee-jerk dismissal (denial) paired with ANet’s lack of transparency on the matter only fans the flame and encourages the use of exploits/hacks.
more logic would be beneficial in discussions
I’d suggest a re-read of the thread. It starting with a logical conclusion. It was the replies that threw the logic to the wind.
It’s quite simple.
-We were just NE of the SW tower in an open area. Nothing within 600 units away for him to teleport to. I didn’t cc him anyway.
-He did not use SR.
-He only has attack, teleport, stealth, and heal for down state skills. The stealth skill would stealth him for 4 sec (traited).
He was downed with nothing to do but to delay the inevitable (which is pretty much all the thief downed skills are good for along with most of the classes downed skills). The only possible solution as to how was identified (although I have not tested it myself). Leaving the mist before the stomp. I didn’t get the stomp off and, in the time it took me to run to where there spawn is (SW corner of the BL), he was coming out. Sounds like enough time to pass through two loading screens (one leaving and one coming) and then run out from the portals.
Although I should’ve expected as much. After all, I got the same BS replies in another thread where I literally chased a guy into a closed tower gate. As in, he no-clipped right through it while I got stopped cold by it.
“Hacks in my beloved game? Blasphemy, you were clearly imagining what you saw. You have no proof, therefore you are wrong.”
Hate to burst your precious little bubble but hacks/cheats do exist for this game. I bought this game a few months (3?) after release and have spent ~75% of my game time since then in WvW. I’ve literally have seen players fly, yes fly. Pass through walls and gates, and teleport (not use a skill but actually teleport). In fact there was a hack that allowed the user to click on their screen and teleport their character there. Meaning if you can see the top of a wall, you could teleport onto the wall.
There are also bugs which players will exploit to their advantage.
I’ve given what I’ve observed and outlined the situation. I’m all for an explanation that fits within the situation and what was observed. My proof that it was a hack is the fact that there is no other explanation left.
I found out from a source that HoD did not have any of the maps queued up at the time as having the queue pop would be the only way to swap maps while in combat.
Thank you Tricare for the link. If clicking on “leave the mists” allows you to do so while in combat and avoid being killed than this is obviously a bug.
@xDudisx I’m only aware of two. One uses capital letters for all three letters (which is the one I’m talking about) and the other uses a capital letter for only the first letter.
Yes, there was an explanation. He leveled at an opportune time.
Again, if someone can explain how, I’m all ears. Until then….
You getting awfully defensive of this guy. It’s not like it was you. He didn’t alt+f4 nor did he swap maps or else I wouldn’t have ran into him coming out of spawn so soon. His smart kitten reply is precisely what the kind of punk kid running a hack would say. I have no evidence that it was a hack? You have no evidence it wasn’t. So unless someone can explain to me how they pulled it off, I’ll call them out for using one.
I ran into them again and invited them to a party. So I know the character name.
I asked “so how did you disappear when I downed you on my ranger”

I ran into him coming out of spawn not even 5 min later.
Fought a thief about 20min ago using a downed state hack of some kind.
I have one of each profession and I often roam on my thief so I understand what a thief can and can not do while downed.
Anyway, I got them down and they enter stealth. Sure, no prob I know they can and they can also teleport a short distance. The down state #3 isn’t that long of a stealth, even if you get off a normal stealth just before going down it’s still not that long. No, SR was not used.
So I used Barrage on the location when they enter stealth to make sure they can’t try and heal up.
They never came back out of stealth and I OOC before Barrage finished. I didn’t get any xp, no bag, and no body showed up.
It’s also a pretty open area where we were, with no places to duck into.
They were a Colonal (no bronze, silver, gold, or diamond prefix) using the Champ Slayer title. Wore the Grenth Hood (possibly more Grenth skin pieces). They ran two signets, SR and TG for skills. Running D/D + SB.
I reported them.

Yeah, these are bad. They’ll only encourage players to run full zerker and maximize their dps….oh wait.
The token part reminds me of the elemental jumping puzzle. My favorite map and jump puzzle.
I have one of each profession, 4 of which are Lv80. I buy the 18 slot bags because the differnce in 2 slots per bag vs the difference in gold per bag doesn’t make it worth it. For now.
I’d like to point out that you can not put account/soul bound items into the guild bank. This is kinda problematic as the only items that I have taking up space are account bound.
Yet, I don’t really have an issue with bank space. Blood Stone, Fragments, and Dragonite is just too easy to get. Once your mat storage is full for these, don’t bother holding onto more in your bank or char inventory. Not worth losing the space over.
Got an account bound tonic that’ll turn you into something just sitting there collecting dust for the past 6 months? Why hold onto it?
I keep two additional piles of the three mats mentioned above (which I think I’ll probably destroy). I keep mystic shards (these should have a mat slot like mystic coin does). I have a total makeover kit and hairstyle kit. I have two ascended rings which is for two of my uplevels. I already know what their builds are going to be. I have a lvl 20 scroll for when the expansion comes out as well as tomes of knowledge.
Point is, don’t hold onto something on the premise of ‘just in case’. Either you have a reason to hold onto it (eg. the ascended rings for my uplevels) or you don’t (eg. the stacks of mats which I plan on destroying).
I keep food for each character stored on the character. Also each character holds onto salvage kits.
I did purchase the upgrade to mat storage so a stack is 500 instead of 250. I’ll admit that, considering what high end recipes call for, that 250 default is too low.
*I’d be my ranger although I’m not sure if I’d want to be Sylvari. I’d rather stay human.
*Leveling, skills, many things really. If we are our characters, then there wouldn’t be a need for it. While the game can ‘assist’ us to perform what would otherwise be impossible, much of what we can do would depend on our own ability to do it.
*Much superior AI. A much more interactive world.
*Countess Anise…nough said.
*Elemental Jump puzzle would be home.
*Are we talking actual Sword Art Online or beyond that? I’m talking about dying in game = dying in RL.
Beyond that, SAO games are still just that. They can unplug and get back to the real world or are we talking Log Horizon where they seem to be trapped?
