When I found out that ESO was going to be subscription based it brought a major smile to my face.
As the OP said, ANet is a company interested in making a profit. When your on going source of income, after initial sale of the game, is ‘macro’ (the RL cash value on the virtual items is too big to be considered micro) transactions in the gem store, then you want to try and convince people to spend their money on what’s available there.
I believe the quality of the content takes a huge hit as new content is designed with getting people to spend real money in mind.
Quality becomes even more important when you are trying to successfully run a P2P model along side F2P models like GW2. If the quality of the content of the P2P model game is on par with the F2P model game, then why bother going with the P2P model game?
A sub model also gives the company a more reliable and stable source of income to work with. The company can better plan future content because the future income is more easily predicted.
Also, having a monthly sub in a free to play market helps act as a player base filter. Ensuring that those who don’t think it’s worth it don’t make up too large of a % of the in game player population. Seriously it works out to be 50 cents a day. If you don’t think the game is worth playing at 50 cents a day, then don’t play. You’ll be better off by not playing and those that do think it’s worth it will be better off by not having you play.
However, there is this….
Sounds like they might be double dipping. I certainly hope not. I hope they abandon the online shop before release. They’ve said by having the sub that people won’t have content gated behind a cash shop, so what could they possibly put in the cash shop besides Account Services (Name changes, sex changes, faction changes, etc.)?
Vanity items? How is that any different than what GW2’s cash shop then?
Part of why I left Aion, aside from cheap combat mechanics, was how the game was basically Dress-up Doll Online. With the plush back packs, little minis, and some other items, it’ll be one of the reasons I’ll leave GW2. I fear, however, that ESO will have the same crap which doesn’t stay true to the TES titles at all.
In DH there is a player in LA. They’re often found dancing in their underwear with boxing gloves on, bunny ears, and a plush quaggan backpack.
I’m sorry but if I’m entering into an Ayleid ruin, I don’t want to come across another player wearing a plush mudcrab backpack followed by a mini flame atronach I’ll uninstall the game right there.
I’m not a role player but I like games that enforce a certain atmosphere and crap like that would absolutely kill the Elderscroll’s atmosphere.
As a fan of TES, I’ll buy the game to both check it out and support the title but if they have a cash shop filled with the kind of crap that my 5 year old daughter would find most appealing (much of what’s found in GW2’s cash shop), then I won’t play beyond the 30 days that come with purchase.
Useless in WvW? Hardly, you just have to realize their role in the different situations.
1v1 or even 5v5, great at dueling.
GvG they provide veil, portal (for portal bombing) and focus skill 4. Things that are good for 5v5 and ZvZ as well.
Portals to not just get your guild or zerg past choke points and behind the enemy guild/zerg but also used for fast transport for golems and for sneaking your guild/zerg into flipped towers/keeps/castles, provided you can stay hidden.
Time warp for a more rapid entry through a gate.
It’s just not a lootbag farming profession like some others due to limited, damaging, AoE.
Manly song for real men.
Nah nah nah, this is.
That’s right, they be zerging.
Anet is adding a new profession designed specifically to bust zergs
@Shadow
You hit the nail squarely on the head.
Considering this has to do with a guild color change in your absence. What the guild could do for you is loan you the gold needed to buy the second item. Stack and split to make them both trade-able then sell them both. Pay back the 250g and keep the profit.
Waaait a minute. Someone please tell me this guy is trolling. LOL
I can’t really take this post seriously, but…since when the hell is everything OTHER than kittening facetanking considered childish? lmao And since when are tactics considered cheating? These abilities are in the game for a reason.
You’re talking about standing up to the other side and getting owned. Standing there and getting killed isn’t tactical, fyi. The attacks that you don’t see coming are certainly the best ones. It doesn’t matter if they’re hiding or stealthing or whatever else, cause at the end of the day they still kicked your kitten .
And +1 that post up there. Someone really does need to read The Art of War. I’ll even link you a pdf.
BUT THAT’S NOT HOW GENTLEMEN FIGHT!!
Real MEN stand in open fields with fancy red coats on and shoot rifles at each other while the commanders sip tea on a far off hill… DUH. Anything else is simply childish. Disgusting.
Nah, gentlemen fighting is boxing. Can the boxing gloves in game be used as a weapon? Will it actually down a player? If not, ANet should make it so that it can. Oh and once you do box someone into downed state, the fight is over (they are KO’ed) and you don’t stomp.
lol.
I particularly like Farming Simulator 2013. I find it’s the best choice if you feel like farming.
While I believe the point has been made, thank you Obscure, I would like to add that any lack of them out right stating that they won’t help someone doesn’t automatically exclude the fact of it happening.
We talking about people perceptions here and is not to be confused with actuality. A fine example would be reporting somebody of hacking. I know people who has recorded their game play and caught a very obvious speed hacker. They submitted the evidence to ANet. This was way back before the rotating match ups and faced the same two servers week after week. We continued to see this person week after week still playing and still using the speed hack. In addition to that, there was no personal response from ANet.
Something like this, you won’t find on the forums. Now if they took it further and came to the forums with it because they didn’t get anywhere through the proper channel, then quite often their thread will be locked (at the very least) with the moderator note telling them to follow the proper channel. If they let their frustration get the better of them, then chances are the thread gets deleted and they get infracted or worse. I have not only witnessed this (I think once on this game months ago but definitely on other games) but I have had this happen to me with a different company/game.
So sorry Brainless, but I’m not going to waste my time with digging through posts. Not on this forum and definitely not on other forums. As I said, they don’t typically make the threats just for the fun of it. They will do it because they feel wronged and they won’t feel that way for no reason.
Edit: Sorry, I could’ve swore that your name was brainless and not souless.
While I understand you are trying to impart what other people feel hyperbole does not make reality bend, should not empower people to make incorrect comments and breath them in for the mindless pampers mob to wear that diaper like a coat of armor. As a community we should be moderating ourselves in my opinion to have a better standard that other communities do not and up until a while ago we did have.
So the people that are talked about in the above link, the ones making the threats, you don’t think they are doing it because they feel they have been wronged by those they make the threats to? That they are just doing it for kicks?
Well said Obscure.

RNG is a troll mechanic. It is a lazy way at giving the illusion of difficulty.
I’ve been playing 7 months and have 1k hours which, If I did the math right, is about 4 hours per day.
The most valuable item that has ever dropped for me was a black dye.
Treat a person like an animal long enough and they start to act like an animal.
Really? You are treating like animals by AN? Are you really sure of that statement or do you think there is a little bit of over the top sprinkled on that doughnut?
What they have done or have not done has never come or not come with an edge of disrespect for this community why do we have to fabricate a reason to be disrespectful? We are simply not happy at the state of the game, we are not happy with the pace of the state change.
I was “generally speaking” for one. ANet, CCP, Blizzard, etc. etc.
As it for “being over the top”, did you just stop reading there? Did you read the following paragraph? Much of what’s there, I’m quite sure has happened. Not just by ANet, not just to me (actually I’ve never been in any of those situations personally), and not necessarily all of those things at one time.
You take something someone is passionate about, make it the only thing they have in their life, and throw in the feeling hopelessness, the feeling that they don’t matter, have no say and the people that can help refuse to (so the feeling of helplessness) to resolve an issue they feel to be very important (whether it really is important or not is irrelevant, it feels important to them), and well you have a volatile mixture.
Your frustrations aside, a lot of the commentary on this thread reeks of ADD, baby powder and diapers. Back in my day and age whining wasn’t something grown folks did and a lot of this feedback is exactly that. Learn to critique, save the tears for the Mohave.
We live in a different age now: http://www.polygon.com/2013/8/15/4622252/plague-of-game-dev-harassment-erodes-industry-spurs-support-groups
I don’t support the actions but…
Treat a person like an animal long enough and they start to act like an animal.
I think many people are beginning to feel as though they are being cheated. That they are being ignored. That they are being taken advantage of. They raise their issues and are getting ignored. They put too much of their emotions in their concerns before passing them onto the company and get suspended or banned instead of listened to and acknowledged. So it really comes as no surprise to me.
Many of the threats are probably just empty threats but you never know when you’ll make that one person, who has nothing in their lives but the game, snap and I imagine that online gaming has more of those type of people than any other media type out there (magazines, movies, even comic books).
For many, wvw is a time sink until ESO and Unchained are out.
ESO announced a $15 monthly sub. It better be unbelievably great to charge a sub in this market space.
If they charge me $15/month rather then me spending the equiv in the gemstore all the apologists that think its ok to treat us like garbage because we are not paying a sub will have to find another excuse..
Pretty much this and I’d much rather pay 15/month and not have a game designed around compelling players to make macro transactions in some online store. Such design features are quite obvious and takes from the game’s quality.
Because there is a sub in a f2p market, they are compelled now to make it worth playing or else they will simply lose the players back to the f2p games.
If your choices are to play a bad game for 15/month or play a bad game for free/month, chances are you’ll pick the f2p.
While there is only 1.3M likes on the ESO facebook page before it has even been released, they had over 3 million sign up for beta.
As far as GW2’s 3 million in 9 months go…
1v1 should never be balanced because some classes smash certain classes:
Remember Rogue vs. Warrior in WoW?
its the same for: Necro vs. Mesmar ; Guardian vs. Necro
Some classes being able to “smash” other classes means it’s not balanced.
Guess what, I’m fine with that. You all need to get a grip and learn to live with it. I do not like any idea that is going to lock me into a play time when I can be on anytime of the day because every idea to do that has really sucked.
The bolded part is my thoughts exactly except to you. I think many people that play also work. I work. We all need to sleep. This isn’t about when you or even I can play. This is about when the hours when most people play. Key word “most”.
Which brings me into the concept of ‘majority rules’. If you happen to not fall in line with the majority, “get a grip and learn to live with it”.
I agree with the op.
You balance 1v1 and this will pull the XvX play into balance requiring only tweeks.
Anyway, if;
A = B
B = C
C = D
Then;
A = C
A = D
B = D
This also means that;
AB = CD
AC = BD
AD = BC
And so you can see where groups come in. If the classes are balanced individually, then putting them together into teams should leave the teams balanced already.
There are only two issues;
1. If they are not balanced individually, when/if you pair up two stronger classes against two weaker classes, this would amplify the pre existing imbalance.
2. One class’s skills may compliment well with another class’s skills but then conflict with yet another class’s. Only then would there need to be some changes made but any changes to be made must not disrupt the existing balance on the individual level.
If you are balancing on a XvX basis and disregard balance on the individual basis, then you are putting yourself into a situation where you will be forever chasing your own tail. Any balance changes based on a particular group composition, with a complete disregard to balance on an individual level, will no doubt create such an imbalance.
The result is throwing a different group composition’s balance further out as grouping up classes that are not individually balance will amplify such an imbalance.

I could be off on this but as far as I know, there is the NA WvW ranking and the EU WvW ranking. These are two entirely different sets of servers. When I hear “Oceanic” it really begs the question “where are you playing from?”.
An example would be people from Australia labeled as ‘oceanic’ and playing on the NA servers.
I’m sorry but being in Australia, there is less of a time difference between the Australian time zones and the European time zones than there is with the North American time zones. Sure, it’s only a 30 minute difference but there is more to it than that.
Keep in mind that when it’s evening/night for NA, it is morning for some of Australia. Which means that when it’s evening/night for Australia, it is morning for NA. However, when it is evening/night for Australia, it is only mid day for Europe.
Due to the Earth’s rotation, and location of the international date line, it simply makes more sense for people from Australia to fall within the European servers.
Mind you this is something that should’ve been done from release.
Now they are about to release in Asia, do they have a third set of servers for Asia?
If so this would basicall split the world stage up into three seperate 8 hour segments. Each segment, therefore, could have an 8 hour “sleep” period with the other two active at that time.
What I think would be better would be the following…
Take NA for example. I’ll exclude Newfoundland as they are 30 min ahead of the rest of NA.
You have;
Atlantic
Eastern
Central
Mountain
Pacific
If they did the research and found that the peak time is between the hours of 6 pm and midnight, then it should go as;
At 6pm Eastern time, the WvW opens up for all of NA. At midnight Pacific time, they would close and the score would be locked.
Ranger has a steeper learning curve than (oh yeah) thief for instance.. And this makes it an awesome profession.. Ok, if you can’t handle the micro management, get a profession without the pet..
…and we’ll have more of “How many lame excuses can you come up on ANet’s behalf” right after a quick word from our sponsor.
(edited by Deamhan.9538)
The pet makes use of the same crappy AI used by mobs. Ever notice that when some melee mob attacks it will stop moving first? As long as the enemy is moving at normal speed (except for moving backwards), then the enemy will be out of range of the pet’s attack before it lands.
You have to chill or cripple your enemy.
In addtion to that, pathing is horrible and the AI in GW2 doesn’t recognize AoE damage. Remember in GW1 when they made that change so if you round up half a dozen mobs and attempt to burst them down with AoE, they would run out of the AoE zone?
Pet survivability is only good in 1v1 or 1v2. Ever try and zerg bust in WvW? Lol, just put the pet on passive and use one with a F2 you can use on yourself/party prior to pushing.
Balancing around 100% uptime was a horrible idea. The failed logic is just bind boggling. It would make sense if pets couldn’t die but they can and easily. Thus we should be balanced around 50% uptime. We should be at 125% whith the pet up but 75% with the pet dead.
I saw the light and moved onto other professions. The fail hards at ANet are simply incapable of rational thought and is why the game in general is in a rather poor state.
As I saw it, the combo system was a great way to have synergy between different players and builds. I pretty much agree but would like to add one thing.
Self comboing. Being able to make use of combo fields and blast finishers all on your own really takes away from that player to player synergy.
It would be nice if, as others have said, that comboing was more impactful. It would also be nice if making use of combo fields was required for success (aka challenging content) in top end content. Pair this with not being able to self combo and you bring the ‘multiplayer’ part back into ‘MMO’.
Oh, and it has been stated in a certain promotional video that they wanted to take <I forget the adjective they use> things from GW1. Queue the semantics game, and Vayne.
I agree completely. There are multiple ways now to get the other ascended trinkets but only one way to get the backpiece.
In addition to this, the only way to get (infused) ascended is still through fractals.
Could be worse though, just look at the state of water masks.
Is this thread still going? It’s over boys and girls, DH kicked kitten and came out on top. Get over it.
I’ve made about 30 gold playing the game during this release. I am happy that when I stumble upon a Champion whilst out playing, I have a reason to stop and try to kill it now. =)
While this is true, the champ should be a final boss to an event. While it is true that killing the champs is often the sole purpose of an event (boar, wasp, troll, etc. in Queensdale) it really shouldn’t be. Take another event on the same map, the champ should be the last wave of an 8 wave centaur attack.
It’s lazily produced content.
That in combination with thinks like this….

i have seen groups asking for people to have elemental tonics on them. Its getting so ridiculous.
Anyone want to get a five man group and complete these events on every NA server? C’mon it will be fun and funny!
PM me if interested
That is tempting
And so this record is nothing to brag about.
Actually at over 1.3M likes on their facebook, vs the less than 1M likes of GW’s, TES Online is already on their way to beating it.
That is of course assuming that
1: Everyone who have bought GW2 likes their FB page
2: Everyone who likes TESO’s FB page will buy TESO.Both which are unlikely.
That may be true but then there is this…
Edit:
Just wanted to add this…

Remove Zerker.
/problemsolved
This right here actually is a decent idea but for a different reason.
As far as the main stats go…
Power
Precision
Toughness
Vitality
healing
condition
crit dmg
Boon Duration
You can then pair these up…
Power….Toughness
Precision…Vitality
Condition….Healing
Crit Dmg….Boon Duration
Zerker is an ‘all offensive’ stat combination. There is no ‘all defensive’ stat combination.
Unfortunately simply removing zerker from the game in an attempt to fix the issue will not work. With zerker gone, knights would just take over as the new must have.
I think if Blizzard were to come out with a ‘sequel’ to WoW, ANet’s record would be blown out of the water.
quite possible, and?
And so this record is nothing to brag about.
Actually at over 1.3M likes on their facebook, vs the less than 1M likes of GW’s, TES Online is already on their way to beating it.
Wait a minute. If D3 sold 3.5M in 1 day and GW2 sold 3M in 9 months, how can they claim GW2 to be the fastest selling MMO of all time? Does D3 not count as a MMO?
Anyway, there was a simple overlook that I’m surprised wasn’t brought up for GW2. As Dramen Maidria said about D3, “Diablo 3 sold copies based off of the franchise history”, that is very much was GW2 did. They had the fanbase/playerbase and reputation from the first GW.
I think if Blizzard were to come out with a ‘sequel’ to WoW, ANet’s record would be blown out of the water.
… You know female gamers are almost exactly half the gaming populace and that many of them play the same AAA blockbusters as men play, right? … Right? You -did- manage to do two seconds of research before spouting something, right?
And your sources too if you please. I dont recall reading any article ever that states unequivocally how many women play “AAA blockbusters” like COD for example.
I immediately thought the same thing. Out of over 100 members in the guild I’m in, I would say less than 1/5th are female. I have the sneaky suspicion that many of the guilds are similar.
It’s quite known that men’s brains are hardwired more toward visual stimulus than female’s. So it’s not surprising that video games in general would be more appealing to males. You then get a self serving loop. You come out with neutral video games to find out that the majority of your customers are male. So you then make games that cater more to a male audience which then become more appealing to males and less appealing to females.
People can play the semantics game all they like but when you hear someone talk about bosses staying dead and you also hear about villages staying saved and being welcomed and remembered when or if you return there (whether by the same person or not), amongst other things said, and all within the same promotional video, then it paints a pretty clear picture that would be pretty much same for any rational person.
I’m quite sure that they did all kinds of back peddling…er…explaining what they meant about the things mentioned within the promo.
The game is what it is. Unfortunately it’s all that’s really available right now as far as big titles go. TES online is too close to bother trying to get back into WoW or EVE.
To be honest, if it wasn’t for the great guild I’m in [SE] I would already be gone.
Razer Blue LED Lycosa

How did you even get into their citadel? It’s suppose to be surrounded by impassible hills. You would’ve needed to either hack or use an exploit.
I also thought that it worked like the border camps. Once you pass a certain point, after a couple seconds, you get ported out.
LEARN..TO…READ.
Yeah, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one.
Well it is suspicious that SBI hasn’t had their BL touched at all, and NSP is only barely being hit in theirs, yet a giant zerg is in our BL and NSP is taking our stuff in EB.
EDIT: also have two of our keeps NSP does. :/ I’m just saying, it’s suspicious. But it’s not like it hasn’t happened before. Balance of power and all, still we’re so far ahead it doesn’t really matter.
Yeah, we didn’t forge an alliance with NSP. We collect everyone’s bags and towers. SBI is much better server than Darkhaven or NSP. We do the most with the least guilds of any server on NA. Darkhaven only barely wins these matchups because of their absurd coverage after NA SBI starts going to sleep. [Abys] are professional PvD players, and only [SE] and [PD] actually know how to fight in the open field on Dumbhaven. The rest of your guilds, boy, they are embarrassing. I’d take my SBI puggers over Darkhaven guildies any day. You guys win by PvD and an abundance of guilds who specialize in it. When we have equal numbers we smash you guys.
Nice try defending Garrison on DH BL today, but as soon as we capped it [FG] showed how cowardly they are and just logged off , further proving my point that all but [SE] and [PD] are baddies. Everywhere we went on DH BL we took upgraded towers with abundance of defenders. What started out as a training run for my guild and it’s new players turned into an absolute romp and humiliation of Darkhaven. DH is nothing to be afraid of, they can’t defend their assets that have siege, waypoints, and the players to use them. They also can’t attack assets that have defenders, but get them in front of a tower or a keep with no defenders and boy, they are amazing.
My advice to Darkhaven baddies? Get into a guild who actually plays the game right, and let Prosecute from [SE] or the wise men of [PD] teach you how to play. If you want to learn some next-level ram placement in front of empty assets, join [Abys] or [BRL] – Baddies Rarely Learn.
I’m really enjoying the hate from this guy towards Abyss and BRL. Hmm you may see a chosen few of us Abyss 15 or so on during the day because most of us have work. Must be when you guys play because we come out when the night falls, I don’t see very many TE so to speak. So if you want to show your faces, by all means show them at night because when we take all of your borderlands there is no TE to be found. So speak lightly of Abyss when you try to talk negative things about us. Same goes for BRL. Instead, focus on how you as a gamer can get better, because I know we all can.
Lol Myro, all you had to do is address the first part of their post;
“SBI is much better server than Darkhaven or NSP. We do the most with the least guilds of any server on NA. Darkhaven only barely wins these matchups because of their absurd coverage after NA SBI starts going to sleep.”
Our 33k lead says otherwise.
^Yeah I do a similar thing with mine where I have the CLIENT-SIDE modifier for pushing “Free Camera” for a split second while the Server action is the 180 turn…. It’s really useful for this kind of movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N426fJIt-AQ
Botting macros go a good ways beyond that by including exact time delays and multple presses of those buttons in specific sequences.
I dont think Bot use things as simple as macro…
But a macro could be used to bot with.
I’ll admit this (won’t ever go back to the game anyway)…..
Aion. You have something like a 20% proc chance when crafting to get a higher quality item. Some recipes require you to use a higher quality item as an ingredient. So to have a decent shot at getting a higher quality of the latter, then you need a couple of the former. In the end you end up needing ridiculous amounts of mats (were talking in the thousands).
Luckily nodes spawn in the exact same place and in a couple minutes (something like 10 min) of being used.
Also, if you press the button for gathering and you are close enough, you will automatically run over and gather.
It was before I had the hardware to macro with so I used a virtual keyboard and set up a macro that would cause me to bounce between two nodes simply by getting the keyboard to press the button over and over with enough of a pause to prevent an interrupt. I then went to bed and left it going.
I would have to say that that is probably what would be not allowed as a macro in GW2.
i dont think node respawn that quickly in gw2
Yeah, I don’t bother crafting in GW2. It was in Aion.

You called him out on it without any proof and put in sentences stating that in your opinion most of such cases are a bunch of BS. I take offense to that. I don’t like people having no empathy and going “I don’t have it, therefore most cases are BS”. By the way there’s a difference between stating “I don’t’ believe you”, even though you should have no reason not to and writing a paragraph about how everything is complete BS.
You can take offense all you want but just because you take offense to it doesn’t classify it as an insult. I found that out the hard way when I talked with a Harassment adviser about a superior. At no point and in no way does my reply (or any of them for that matter) state or even imply that “I don’t have it, therefore most cases are BS”. Yet another misconception or more likely you wanting to believe the worst to make yourself feel better. Wanna know what it says as a two liner? “In my experience, most times that someone puts up such a complaint it turned out to be a lie. Primarily because these complaints are more often seen on the forums of games where an unfair advantage is obtainable than they are on game forums that offer no advantage at all.”
It’s simple logic.
It’s apples and oranges. I’m not a judge and they are not on trial.
To a food store, yes, not to a clothing store though, not to a game store, not to a movie store, not to a cinema or other buildings providing entertainment. For some games are probably the thing keeping them from committing suicide. Our reality is sometimes not what we want it to be and we require means to escape it only for just a little bit. Saying “abandon your hobby” instead of “we can fix it” is simply cold hearted.
Lol, what? Um, mobility in general is a quality of life thing..
If that’s the case then such a person is in dire need of professional help. I’m being absolutely sincere by saying so.
Well then you can think of me as Kevin O’Leary on The Dragon’s Den.
I too believe in the “Cold Hard Truth”.
There have been several threads asking what mods are okay and what are not. Anet allowed several shader, graphics mods, various overlays as well. If all it does is messes with the graphics and does not give you an advantage, it’s normally allowed, so my statement stands – what kind of advantage do you get by setting your horizontal FoV to 90 instead of 65?
That’s for ANet/NCSoft to answer. Although I haven’t gone searching, it looks to me that they already gave a reason for not doing it.

A macro has ALWAYS meant a series of keys all chained together.
It’s been that way since like, the First Street Fighter.>.>
<.<HADOUKEN
Exactly. People are just confused with the ‘action’ part. Example:
I have a Nostromo. I have the D-pad macro’ed to dodge with. This allows me to dodge in the direction of my choosing regardless of the direction I happen to be moving with my movement keys. So one makes me dodge left, another dodge right, another dodge forward and the last dodge back.
Each one of these is a single action.
The same idea with the AoE loot. The macro (when active) will loot nearby corpses and bags using the AoE loot function as they drop. The act of looting is a single action.
What they don’t want is for a person to be able to run up to an enemy and with a single press of a button, use a multitude of skills in one big sequence. They don’t want the macro to play your character for you. AKA botting.
Dear NSP and SBI,
We were hoping to actually have some competition. You two really needed to form an alliance. It seems to be the only way for us to be challenged.
Sincerely,
Darkhaven
Do go and do so. Because all I’ve seen is you claiming that people the have a legitimate condition are lying because you don’t have it yourself.
Calling one person out on it does not equal calling everybody that has it as lying. That’s simply a gross misconception on your part.
I’ll admit that I am. You’re free to report his posts yourself. I do have a bias against you because you didn’t just insult the OP when you said that he was lying, you insulted the rest of us that have these dizziness attacks in other games.
Calling someone out as lying doesn’t even qualify as an insult for starters. Whether you say “I believe you are just lying” or “I don’t believe you”. It’s stating a matter of opinion. Not an insult. Another misconception of yours.
In addition to that, there isn’t anything that states that I’m not allowed to. Thus my initial reply is still there.
If you were a judge and you’ve seen 100 out of 101 cases where a person was accused of murder to be true, you would still have no right to pronounce your 102 case to be guilty without a trial.
Spare me the semantic BS.
Hunting and gaming isn’t quite the same thing, is it? For example blind people are able to game. There’s a blind boy that has memorized all of the Abe’s Odyssey by the sound alone.
It’s an example of a hobby and one that shows that just because you have a handicap doesn’t mean that you should still be able to do anything/everything that a person without can. Its a matter of reality. A reality check is certainly something I’ve seen people in desperate need of.
No, the original poster is asking for a slider.
The original post (no ‘er’) doesn’t even mention a slider. He doesn’t even mention it until the bottom of his third post.
Your comparison makes no sense though. Is OP asking for a slider or a brain surgery?
Well in relation to the actual situation. While it would be nice, ANet is not required to put it in by any kind of law. This is because your ability to play the game is not considered a quality of life issue and therefore it is not an entitlement. Being able to walk to the store (not my example) is in fact a quality of life issue so the person will have certain rights and entitlements to try and restore their quality of life.
Anet does not have to include the FoV slider either, but people will continue to use 3rd party tools if it doesn’t exist. It’s not illegal to improve your quality of life. The same way that Anet doesn’t really have to optimize for low end systems or to end culling, doesn’t mean that people on old system wouldn’t try to optimize themselves and it doesn’t mean that it’s illegal to attempt and mob the culling out yourself. It’s only illegal to use a 3rd party software if it gives you an unfair advantage. What advantage is there to having your FoV at 90 instead of 65, especially when a person could artificially increase their game FoV by resizing it in windowed mode?
Lol actually since the ToS that you signed states that such 3rd party programs are prohibited, that does in fact make it illegal to use to any degree. The company has the legal right to deny you access for violating the ToS regardless of any money and/or time invested and without refund.
“It’s not illegal to improve your quality of life”. Well, that depends entirely on quite a few factors.

Your ability to see is both your eyes and central nervous system. Your ability to hear is both your ears and central nervous system. Your ability to remember is your central nervous system.What is the process by which visual information is taken in by the brain and converted to allow the brain to recognize 3D shapes and maps? It’s not the eyes that do this, it’s the central nervous system, that system you love to mention as though I don’t know of its existence.
Yes, you are indeed dehumanizing people by claiming that they with their own problems are lying. You are essentially demonizing them, making them all out to be deceptive and crafty. You want to make it look like these are people trying to sew some seeds of discord in order to bring about a change in the game to get an “unfair advantage”.
Sorry kiddo, this kind of attitude doesn’t fly with me. You’re not calling a “spade a spade” you’re instead calling a blind man a welfare thief.
As for someone who gets the headaches and nausea when playing certain video games. Go ahead and bring it up with a doctor. Really. Wanna know what they’ll say to do to correct the situation? DON’T PLAY THE VIDEO GAME.
Yes, like your doctor will tell you not to go to a store because your leg hurts. Oh wait, that doesn’t happen. Actually your doctor will suggest the usual; change the lighting, distance yourself from the monitor, take breaks, eat certain foods that are less stimulating etc.
How about you take your own advice about spew out posts that are arrogant and insulting you pompous hypocrit. Aspiring medical physician, lol. So what, still in university? Sorry but that means I got about a decade on you so you can cut the condescending “kiddo” remark.
Your central nervous system (while it processes the info from the eyes) still needs the eyes to get the info from. If you bothered to actually read my post you can see that I said as such. Close one eye, the info needed for 3D is gone and you see in 2D. Dah.
Going to the grocery store, or going into the gas station to pay for gas, etc. is one thing. Playing a video game is another. If the person’s ability to walk deteriorates enough they’ll get a handicap tag to use the spots closer to the doors of places. They’ll get a wheelchair (electric or not). Because there is doing what’s reasonable.
Let’s say that video games was something that you needed to run around for (they advanced into a holodeck type of thing), do you honestly think that you’d be able to get your insurance to cover the cost of surgery for you knee when you knee only bothers you when you play and doesn’t bother you anywhere else? I very much doubt it.
You said it yourself…
The doctor would recommend lighting, adjusting your distance from the monitor (which is also something I suggested in the post).
But I’m done with you as you are just an arrogant hypocrite (you’ll report a post that you find insulting yet write one that is not only just as insulting but completely outlandish) who I’ve come to conclude as straight up delusional if you equate calling someone out as lying equivalent to calling everyone everywhere as being less than human. People like you is what’s wrong with society today.
Auto loot…check
Bind AoE loot to a key…check
Make macro that toggle on and off with the function of pressing the AoE loot key twice a second…check
Zerg bust and watch as the loot just pours in….check
What is it that our pets bring to the table as far as a class mechanic goes?
It brings damage but the damage of a ranger is lower so that the damage our pets do is required to be on par with the other classes.
It brings a skill we can use (F2). Along with some that it uses on its own
We can tell the pet to attack one mob while we attack the other.
We can get the pet to tank while we provide support.
Honestly I would be happy with the following.
The attacks the pets have (the non F2 ability that are controlled by the AI) are removed and the pet simply does an auto attack.
The pet can not gain aggro. Aggro always goes to the ranger.
The pet can not be harmed in any way. Swapping is on a fixed 30 sec CD with a trait that can reduce it to 20 sec.
What would these changes do?
Pets would simply become a visual representation of their F2.
The damage they provide is simply needed for the class to be on par with other classes.
They allow the ranger to divide the damage between two seperate enemies, while the ranger has the aggro of said enemies.
Since the pet’s damage is needed to be on par, that one can be ignored as it’s per normal.
That simply leaves hitting an extra mob at the same time, and the F2.
A class mechanic that is still on par with other class mechanics and you don’t have to be worried about being kitten since no harm can come to the pet.
Of course skills and traits that work with the survivability (or lack thereof) of the pet would have to be replaced.
I read the words “Open Letter” and immediately thought of Amity Affliction.
