condition stacking

Sounds to me that they are sending unnecessary information.

You apply that 10s bleed every 2 seconds and you can stack up to 5 before the first one falls off. Each time a condition falls off, it sounds to me that it is sending data to each client when it shouldn’t have to. Each time a stack is applied, the info is sent to each client but beyond that, it can/should be handles client side. The time remaining of each stack, the dmg ticks, mob health, stacks falling off, etc. should be handled client side.

Hmm, I think I know. If you kite a mob around, it’s easy to see that there is a 1 second update delay to the mobs pathing. The server could be sending all information pertaining to the mob every second. Not just who has aggro and where it’s gonna move for the next second but health remaining, conditions applied, stacks, time left on each one. Then yeah, that would certainly make it a bandwidth monster.

Oh I agree, definitely better things for them to work on. Yeah, it can’t be a delay. It’s bad enough as it is when you swap to the wolf and try to howl a thief out of SR…

Wolf – “Oh yeah, master chose me and wants me to….SQUIRREL!”
Hunter – “Stupid wolf, don’t just stand there, howl!”

Look at it simply.

2 people and the server.

A mobs spawns, the server sends data to the two pc’s. The data that makes up the mob is now in the server’s ram and the ram of each pc.

One person applies one 10s bleed. It ticks for 10dmg every second and the mob has 100hp. So it will kill the mob eventually. The player uses the skill which sends data to the server. The server applies the condition to the mob and send data out to both clients. Both clients now see the mob with the condition and damage ticking away. This is basically 3 seperately handled occurances now. The condition timer, the 10dmg ticks, and the enemies health bar shrinking is all being processed and calculated at each client and server side simultaneously.

Now lets say that each pc has a ping of 100ms. That means there is just a oneway delay of 50ms. Since the server applies the condition to the mob and then sends the data that the condition is applied to the pc’s, the server is ahead of both pc’s by 50ms. So at the end, the mob dies and the server sends this fact out to the clients. By the time this info reaches the clients (50ms later) it gets there just in time for the mob to run out of hp on the client side and it all syncs up.

Each and every time a skill is used and an effect or change occurs to the mob, information is going to be sent. Condition stacking will be no more bandwidth demanding than auto attacking.

What if the dailies were accumulative? You miss a day? Then the next day you can do the achievements necessary to do both days in one go.

I know there is a list but I’ll just go with 3 to keep it simpl…

Day 1: You need to complete 4 group events, kill 50 mobs and interupt 10 times.

Day 2: You need to complete 10 events (any), kill 50 mobs and dodge 10 times.

You missed out on day one and log in on day two, you are faced with…

4 group events
10 events
100 mobs
10 interupts
10 dodges

So you decide to get started. You do the 4 group events and durring this time you were able to dodge 8 times and interupt 5. You got 15 kills in the process. This would leave you with…

6 events
85 kills
5 interupts
2 dodges

Now you fight some regular mobs to get the interupst out of the way. You were able to do it only killing two mobs in the process.

You are now left with 83 mobs to kill. After killing 33 you get awarded a chest as you finished enough to complete one of the dailies. Cronological order would dictate that day 1 is complete. You then kill another 50 and get the second chest.

It’s still 1 laurel per day but it’s now ok to miss days since you can make up for lost time.

As for monthly. If you do a daily every day, the progress also goes towards your monthly. So after a months worth of dailies, you should be close to completing the monthly as well. So this wouldn’t change.

However, for the sake of saving memory, the line has to be drawn somewhere. It’s a wast of space to have accounts not being used accumulating info like this. So I think the monthly would make a good cut-off. When the monthly resets, so do the accumulated dailies.

You pretty much said it in your post. I am here because this is a buy to play mmo that is very solo friendly with amazing graphics and high quality gameplay.

There is no other mmo that can match GW2 at the moment in my opinion.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. I’m looking forward to GTA next month. I still remember playing the first one. Over in the Iona C@p site along with playing other great games like Carmageddon and getting free stuff off of mIRC pirate channels. Good times.

Then there is ESO which I’m hoping is everything it seems. If so, it’ll easily keep me going until CCP comes out with WoDO.

Soulbound on acquire. Now unskilled players with too much money/gold can’t just buy it.

It’s great that they have one, but I don’t give a skritt either way.

Now that is what needs to be replacing curse words. Skritt is so much better than kitten.

I use 1680×1050 which is both the native and max resolution for my monitor. If I were to hook up to my TV or get a bigger monitor, I would certainly go for a larger resolution. I don’t need my icons to be any larger than what they are and to go with the same resolution on a larger screen would do just that.

The problem is how ACs target. They use line of sight from the player’s perspective instead of from the character’s in game. Since not everyone will have the same fov and since fov is too easily manipulated, there will always be a problem. ANet needs to change the way ACs target so that resolution doesn’t make a difference.

After work today, I’ll be going through and flagging all the ‘name and shame’ posts in the thread for admin review.

And even then, you baddies wiped. Truly terrible.

Might want to rethink violating the terms of use with ‘name and shame’ posts.

If you think someone is hacking you take the screen and submit it to ANet support.

As for all the accusations constantly flying around. If you already submitted the screens and reported using the in game report feature, great. If after weeks or even months, these people are still playing, then it means one of three things:

(In order of least to most likely)

1. ANet is gathering up and will do a WMD level ban hammer.
2. ANet really doesn’t give a crap.
3. ANet has concluded that these people are not hacking/exploiting.

As for tonight. All I can say is that it’s been great. The massive amount of loot bags our 15/20 man got from FC’s 40+ was just too much. We actually had to put down a merchant between pushes to clean out our inventories. I’ll be sorry to see this match up come to an end.

See that’s the issue that needs to be thrown away. This idea that every person who buys the game gets to experience the exact same content regardless if they bought it at launch or a year later. As long as you maintain this status quo, you can never have a game that allows the player to have a meaningful impact. Either the game world never changes until the developers make that change with a update or new expansion (even then, this has been nothing more than adding more while leaving the original content there) or they develop a game where players can make a lasting impact and no two people experience the game in the same way, even if they started it at the same time.

Unfortunately GW2 can’t do the latter because it is designed to be static. The developers take the time to develop the next ‘chapter’ to the living story. Where that’s all it is. A story they are telling and the players have limited interaction. We are being fed this story chapter by chapter with enough time between releases to not only allow for development but enough time to allow the majority of players to experience the same content.

It is what it is because for it to be anything else, they would have to redesign the game. They would have (should have) to design the game to be ‘self designing’. That the game engine itself is capable of reacting to the choices players make both on an individual level and on a mass group level and make changes to the game accordingly.

All the designers would need to do is design the building blocks (models and textures) for the game to use. Whether this is something as simple as a house built/ruined or something bigger and more complex like an entire zone remodeled to show a large crater where a dormant volcano used to be after it blew up.

It’s event xp and karma. Hearts and DE’s are just as quick. The “most efficient way to level” is not really true. It’s just simpler to do while being just as quick as going through the map doing hearts and DE’s.

Honestly, riding a WvW zerg train and capping stuff while rolling over opposing zergs tend to be faster from what I’ve noticed. But this depends on server and a willingness to do pvp.

Once you get to lvl 30, dungeon running is really the fastest assuming you can find a like minded group to do back to back runs and not have to “LFG” after each run.

I agree with ya OP, that they would’ve done better to build upon existing DE’s.

If, as Rainbow says, that the humans defeated the centaurs, then that should be an area for change. The now hostile (red) centaurs should be neutral (yellow). They could have a LS type event where peace is made and new DE’s could then replace the old ones (maybe helping keep the peace and helping to rebuild both human and centaur settlements).

At which point are the dragons going to be gone? Since they are supposedly defeated according to any player who has actually fought and defeated them.

Is that not was a persistant world really is? You do something that makes a lasting impact on the game world and in doing so, you open up a door to something new to experience?

I agree with ya OP. On a number of things.

1. Unless you have done some editing, the impression I got was simply the addition of selectively reducing the sound of instruments based on the individual playing.

How is it that people interpret this as “people should be forced to hear me play” is way beyond a lack of reading comprehension.

Way too much playing GW and not enough paying attention in school clearly. Especially with 5 80s. Which brings me to the next point.

2. Craptrain (if your choice of name says anything about how you are as a person) your original reply can be nothing but offensive and you not seeing that is right up there along with your choice of name in reflection on you. I’m by no means a musician, but your assumption that the person at the keyboard is in no way a musician either would be quite insulting if I were one.

Even more insulting comparing those in game to children banging pots and pans (very tempted to get a video of someone actually playing good on pots a pans).

I too would reply with the contrary as any reasonable person would. As the OP did.

Between your original reply and the OPs resonse to it, one is an insulting assumption while the other contains a statement of fact. Let’s start with you figuring out which is which.

Design Philosophy: Then and Now

Honestly when they mentioned a “home instance” I thought that the whole game was sort of instanced. As I take my character through the zones and completing events, those events had a persistent impact on the game world for my character. Others can see it by joining my party and then go to those areas.

Sadly the home instance is just a little pocket that nobody makes use of which is why they introduced the new node that goes there. For gear that can only be obtained for your character by crafting since it is crafted bound.

I think the customization people are talking about from GW1 would be more than just cosmetic. You could customize and change both the prefix and suffix of a weapon in GW1 but in GW2 we only effect the suffix through the use of jewels, runes, sigils, etc. The prefix is actually predetermined. They don’t even cover all possible combinations as far as those three stats go.

Power
Precision
Toughness
Vitality
Cond Dmg
Healing Pwr
Crit Dmg

Seven different stats and you can have three. If the same three stat combination is not used more than once then that would be just 35 combinations. However, they place an emphasis on a single stat over the other three. I have two ascended rings that give me the same three stats but they are not the same. One gives me more toughness while the other gives more precision. This means the same three can be used while switching which is primary. This ups it to 105 possible combinations.

I can guarantee that not all possible combinations are covered. Hell, even without the emphasis, the 35 combinations are not all used in game.

I didn’t even include magic find since that is on its way out. If I did then it would be 56 without emphasis and so 168 with.

And there is nothing worse than stupid things like “needles” or “spikes” which are just examples of the many grey items that serve no purpose other than to vendor. I’d rather just get the copper/silver directly.

If I want to level in WvW, I can.
If I want to level through just crafting I can.
If I want to level doing events I can.
If I want to level doing map completion (hearts, vistas, POIs, etc.) I can.
If I want to level through my personal story, I can’t.

You can not level up your character through the personal story alone. You will have to stop to do something else as the xp you get is not sufficient enough to get you to the next level you need to be. It is the only ‘path to 80’ that requires you to stop and level elsewhere. This is very sad considering that doing the story (particularly for the first time) would be considered the least grindy way to level. Aside from crafting assuming you buy the mats rather than running around the map gather from node after node after node.

Stun breakers break “stun” skills for which half of the cc is not.

I think knockdown is a stun but I’m not sure daze is considered a stun. Fear is also a stun and then there is “stun”. You then have immobilize, chill, and cripple which are not stuns and so stun breakers will not work.

If cc is an issue, then there are steps you can take and a good pvp/wvw build should have one stun breaker in it. It should have one way to remove the other three cc as well (more than one if the removal is a secondary effect and/or on a weapon).

It is only a problem when you are out numbered (1vX) in which case the odds should be against you.

I will say that it seems that some classes are blessed with all kinds of ways to remove cc while others are lacking. Necros are backwards. Necros are suppose to commit to a fight and not run but there are a few problems with that…

1. We have an easy enough time to remove non-stun cc (consume conditions, staff skill #4) but too few ways to remove stun if we are suppose to be a class that commits to a fight because chances are you are not fighting just one (especially in wvw). Consume conditions should have a 0 cast time allowing its use while stunned.

2. We have very few ways from preventing our target from escaping. If we are suppose to commit to the fight, then we should have plenty of tools to force our target to commit as well.

As for warriors. Warrior hammer is rather obscene but I expect nothing less from ANet (cough Aion Warrior cough). To fight one you are looking at having to take 3 stun breakers and if you do that, then they won’t need the cc to beat you. It is too niche of a build that will leave you rather kitten in the killing department.

The Flute

Deamhan.9538

I recently bought the flute simply because I figured they wouldn’t release a tin whistle…

There are a few issues though and I think this is probably shared with all the instruments.

The starting delay. This is one of the more minor ones. What’s the point? If it’s to sync up with other people then I can see its purpose.

The response time. I find that I’m limited on how fast I can switch notes. There are some great songs that can cycle through notes rather quickly but if you try it in the game, notes tend to get skipped over. I’m sure it’s limited due to lag but it seems like the issue isn’t lag at this point. It just seems a little sluggish.

Note length. This one is a bigger one. Many songs have pauses, stops and/or “rests” that are part of the song. There are also full notes, half notes, quarter notes, etc. and sometimes these are not cut short by another note. So why can’t the notes just play for as long as you hold the button down and then stop when released?

Notes, or rather lack there of. “Do Re Mi…” really? That is for vocalization. Instruments play notes. C, D, A, B, etc. What key is the flute in? At least if I now what key it is then I can assign the appropriate notes. Eg. In the key of C, Do equals C.

Risk Vs Reward: Reward what Reward?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Deamhan.9538

Deamhan.9538

Ever try leveling in WvW? Oh man, horrible reward system. Until you get to a certain level, there is a karma vendor who will sell you level appropriate gear…

But

The quality rotates. So at lvl 10 it’s lvl 10 blue gear, then at 15 you get access to lvl 15 green gear but there is no lvl 15 blue (it’s still lvl 10). At some point you get rare (gold) gear with one of the other color types 5 lvl below and the other color type 5 lvls further (10 lvls below the lvl you just unlocked).

To make it even worse, the xp/karma ratio is not balanced. You don’t get enough karma and so in those 5 lvls, you won’t have the karma needed to refit your char with the next, unlocked, karma set. So to actually be of any benefit to the cause as an uplvl, you will need to be on top of your gear. The only way to do this is to actually spend money in the TP to top up what you couldn’t afford with karma.

Here’s bit of a kicker. The levels don’t line up. At lvl 14 you can buy masterworks (green) on TP but you don’t get it in WvW at the karma vendor until lvl 15.

Also, there is only one kind of gear at the WvW karma vendor (invaders).

It was as if they were going somewhere with it, then abandoned it but put it in the game unfinished anyway.

For a bunch of people that wanted a game where people do not have to grind, they sure did a good job where the best way to level is to grind.

What I mean by this is…

Lvling through simply killing open world mobs over and over and doing only events that involve killing waves of mobs will have a better gold earned per level ration than any other way. Provided you roam a little and mix up the mob types, making sure to move on to the next (higher lvl) area.

I don’t think so.
Pretty much, when a Thief says L2P, it means:

I have no real argument against yours.
I just want to enjoy my profession and I don’t really give a kitten about balance and everything. I just want to faceroll people and I don’t want to waste time to get better, while you should if you want to have any chance against me while I’m mashing buttons randomly with no real clue on what I’m doing.

That is pretty much what I read when I see L2P in the thief forum.

Seriously guys, you should stop doing this bullkitten.
I’ve seen L2P said to really well formed and logically correct arguments regarding thieves, which is really sad, to be honest.

I’ve seen L2P said to people who kindly asked for suggestion on how to counter thieves.

Everything who were said to be broken about thieves was then nerfed, which it means that, probably, most people complains have some sense.
Probably also other people have a brain, not only you.

Very well said. I’ve made complaints and I’ve followed the advice given (even made and leveld a thief). That’s when I saw that the counters they gave were strawmen that only really bad thief players would be beat by.

Take a good look through your weapon skills and utilities and think about how you would like to play.

Once you pick what you want (what will work best for you), then look at the traits. Find the ones that will best compliment your previous choices on skills, utilities and play style.

Then you want to pick gear with stats that will best help you out. Now I didn’t say “pick the gear that best complements your previous choices” because if you did, this may leave you lacking in something that you may need (eg. survivability). No point going 30/30/x/x/x with gear that increases power, precision, and/or condition dmg if you are dying before you get the chance to act.

So you say leveling is hard for you, but in what way? If you are dying too easily, then the gear that will ‘best help you out’ will be gear that will increase your survivability (something with toughness and vitality or +healing).

When it comes to upgrades (runes, sigils, orbs, ect.), it is very similar to gear stats. What will best help you. It maybe usefull to leave out upgrades at first. If you feel you are lacking in damage or still need some more survivability, add upgrades accordingly.

Best of luck.

I’ve put my main MMO on the back burner for the most part, and I’ve been looking at all the other MMOs I’ve played in the past. Guild Wars 2 is one of them, but various reasons kept me from continuously playing it:

-Dungeons weren’t fun
-Insane grind if you wanted anything
-PvP was always a side interest for me so there was no big draw there, and it seemed like everyone was just doing WvW

That said, I’ve been thinking of coming back and leveling a new character to get some enjoyment out of it again. Is the leveling game still fun or is it lacking as more people reside at the cap? Is it solo only for the most part or still heavily multiplayer? If it is solo only at this point, is that viable?

Sorry if these are questions you all have to deal with on a daily basis =)

Dungeons are still no fun.

It may be ANet but it’s still NCSoft. Grind is all they know.

This game is still being balanced around pvp and is screwing over the rest of the game.

30..wait, you meant character age.

For real. Saying computer gaming is worse than people who spend all day watching TV or partying in clubs like paris hilton or doing sports or relaxing on beaches or whatever honestly makes no sense. to each their own

I agree to a certain degree.

From a single person perspective, gaming is better than watching TV for a couple reasons.

-It gets you thinking; and
-It has social qualities (talking with other people).

However, unless the other person/people are gaming with you, TV is still spending time with those who are in your life. If they don’t game with you, then you are not spending this time with them.

Gaming Vs Clubs. I’d say it’s cheaper to game but with the way some people throw money into these Cash Shops, I think the clubs would be cheaper for them. Socially, interacting with people face to face is better than over TS or ingame chat.

Sports? No contest. Going out and playing a sport is, in all ways, better for you than gaming.

Oh no, did I vendor my Bifrost for?!?!

That must be it then, I did transmute the Bifrost with my Lionguard staff for the sigil. I defininatly know that I had already seen it in the vendor list 50 times and always had to look out that I didn’t sell it.

If I remember correctly (i could be wrong), if you transmute an exotic with the bifrost it will be soulbound.

facepalm

Anyway.

Right click, go down the list and click Hide.

What? Such a feature doesn’t exist? Sure doesn’t but it should. Then when you want to vendor it, just repeat the process. Instead of “hide” you would see “show” if the item was already hidden.

Instead ANet has all these different stupid bags that are more of a pain in the dolyak (so much better than kitten).

Seriously how is this being ignored

Deamhan.9538

“Downed State” itself is simply bad. It’s yet another thing that ANet has to balance and, well, they are incapable of balancing simple things so the last thing they should be doing is using new mechanics that only add to the complexity of balancing between professions.

Remove downed state from WvW and PvP.

What do you do if not in a Zerg?

Deamhan.9538

You want badges in Zerg vs Zerg? Don’t focus your attention (or your damage) to just one enemy. Deal damage to as many as possible. Basically treat the zerg itself as a single entity.

What profession and with what weapons do you use?

Also, if you do a lot of running around, sometime you don’t even get the message to press “F” and there is a very short dely between the time an enemy goes down and the bag spawns. You could be leaving bags behind and not even know it.

Gear Grind or People leave.....

While I don’t really agree that a game needs grind, a player just needs a purpose. You have, on multiple occasions, given yourself a purpose within the game.

“It is purpose that created us, purpose that connects us, purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us; it is purpose that defines us, purpose that binds us.” -Agent Smith

The best thing a Dev can do to keep people interested in playing, is to give a player a purpose within the game.

Give them purpose and make it something they will enjoy and they will never want to stop playing. But not everyone enjoys doing the same things.

Get kittening real. You came on the Ranger forums kittening about some bug that is only an issue in one specific scenario within pvp (funny how in WvW people tend not to have a problem dps’ing a downed ranger underwater before lick wounds becomes available).

But if you want to talk of forum moderation (derailing), then here was where this thread should’ve been made..

Thieves have 3 seconds of stealth (4 traited, still 3 if traited D/P) and it is very possible to stop a backstab. Greatsword block, immob/freeze traps, binding roots, wolf fear, sword mainhand dodges, dagger dodges, and dodges are all ranger things I can think of off the top of my head that you can use to avoid damage and stall until he comes out of stealth. It’s not about anticipating. Place the traps at your feet, and you’ll get him. When the trap trips, dodge out of it and kite. After he pops out of stealth, then it’s up to your skill to keep him out with CC and blinds. Also – When he stealths, don’t stop attacking. It’s the worst move you can do. Always keep moving, preferably in an erratic manner where your back is constantly changing directions (DON’T BACKPEDDAL.) and be generous with dodges and autoattacks (along with what i listed above) and you’ll do fine.

So let’s talk one on one here.

Greatsword block: You go stealth, I use it and you do one of two things…

1. You wait at which point your stealth will wear off, as will my block, you re-enter stealth.

2. You attack, take the counter blow that will push you back and knock you down. In the time it takes for you to get back up after striking, revealed is gone and you enter into stealth regenerating any lost health.

Dodge roll: You enter stealth, I dodge twice. Since each dodge roll is only a one second dodge, I would have to blow two at once to have a shot at avoiding BS and that still leaves you with 1 or 2 seconds. If stealth falls off, you simply re-enter.

Sword/Dagger: This is similar to dodges. If your stealth simply ends on its own, you don’t get revealed and can re-enter stealth. I would have to use all four skills to equate to two dodge rolls. So it’s the same deal as above.

Immobilze: First off, we are very limited on these. You have more ways out than we have ways to put you in and your CD are shorter than ours.

Wolf Fear: Sure I can waste it on you when you enter stealth. Or I can save it for a shot at getting you to run out of shadow’s refuge.

So what? I’m suppose to use GS + S/D (which I do already) and non stop chain evades? Stopping to use Entangle, Muddy Terrain, or Quicksand?

At what point am I suppose to attack? I know, after about 10 seconds when most, if not all of the above skills/abilities are all on CD. At which point we begin to eat the C&D, Back Stabs and Heart Seekers. Move around swinging? So you take one, maybe two of our weak kitten damage before getting the BS off.

I play a ranger and thief, perhaps you should try playing a ranger.

Oh and I started out replying to PistolWhip, you jumped in with a reply to my post. I’ve been no more insulting to you as you have with me. Got a problem with what I have to say? Too bad. Don’t reply to someone and expect them to not have anything to say about it.

Honestly I don’t get how these bugs have gone on as long as they have.

First there is this stupid error you get after you sell a bunch of stuff.
Next is some kind of bug where all you get is scripting or some such thing.
Finally there are times when certain tabs can’t be accessed.

I’m just going to give the automated thief response…

L2p

Don’t chase a ranger into water. If they have to run into water, you’ve won. Just like a thief not being able to kill someone and that thief having to give up and/or run away is considered a win against that thief.

As far as the outcome, am I reading this right? Not only do thieves and mesmers think now that they should be able to kill every other class 1 on 1 but they shouldn’t even be required to use their elite skills to do so? Just shut the hell up and get out.

Except that most times in the Thief’s case, it is a case of L2P. You can learn to counter backstabs, and you can learn to counter stealth. This is a bug that cannot be helped except by bringing more damage, and if more damage is out of reach and the ranger activates his pet’s heal, not even three people can out DPS the heal, and he’ll rez. Down him again? Better kill him before his #3, or he’ll do it again. And again. The only thing that’s more broken than this is the Thief spear #5 underwater (and that can actually be sunk or floated to counter. Still a bad oversight).

You can’t justify a bug like this to "but thieves and mesmers think they can … " No. Just stop. Comparing a Thief or Mesmer to a Ranger is like comparing apples to oranges. We’re all fruits, but each has it’s own strengths and weaknesses. This is clearly broken and needs to be fixed, regardless of what you or other rangers think about thieves or mesmers. Saying otherwise is just ignorant and biased.

Lol, you think sPvP is real pvp? When every thing is dumbed down? Armor, providing 0 stat boosts. Just armor with upgrade slots. Trinkets? You don’t even fill all slots. Differences to certain mechanics between sPvP and the rest of the game. Some builds are more stat dependant than others.

Cap points that are the same size as most AoEs (eg. wells and traited marks). Cap points that don’t require you to kill some npc first. This is a huge difference for stealth builds.

All in all, it is far too restricted and dumbed down to be real pvp.

Minded I should’ve been a bit more specific since I wasn’t refering to zerg vs zerg but rather roaming and dueling.

I never did get an answer to my question. Though I suppose you would’ve had to read beyond the first sentence.

The entire reason it’s dumbed down stat-wise IS to be real PvP. Inflated stats, high damage, PvE skills and elites and no up front objective makes WvW an extension of PvE. Nothing more. The fact that you think “roaming” and “dueling” is the preferred PvP mode compared to sPvP deeply disturbs me. Inflated stats and PvE skills lead to less skilled gameplay; less effort and know-how to defeat someone, or, if you’re bunker, less effort to defend, instead relying on raw stats instead of skill. That is not PvP.

But I must also comment on conquest. Conquest (the current pvp game type) isn’t a very competitive game type as far as PvP goes, encouraging running and capping rather than fighting. But that’s worthy of it’s own thread, and I shant get into it here.

Unless you use skill 4, which is interrupted upon damage, you hemorrhage health when downed. If three people can’t finish off a ranger (even a bunker) before their skill 3 becomes available, it most certainly is a l2p issue.

Since it started as 3vs2 and the one was finished off, that leaves 3 vs 1. Wait till they rez (let your skills recharge) and then down them again. They will be under the effects of rez sickness and will have less health to start with while downed.

Oh and please do tell me how to counter back stab and stealth. Sorry but “anticipating” is not a counter. Sorry but my balls are not made of crystal and I don’t use bots (or cheats of any kind) that will dodge predetermined skills on my behalf.

What’s sad, is that some professions depend on bugs just to be competitive to the troll mechanics given to thief and mesmer. Which brings me to why pvp is dumbed down. To make it easier to balance and even then these clueless kittens fail at it. The changes they make just screw things up for the rest of the game. All for what? Some e-sport pipe dream? Sounds like a bunch of wanna-be’s that couldn’t cut it playing sports in school and never gotten over the fact.

This now brings me to "The fact that you think “roaming” and “dueling” is the preferred PvP mode compared to sPvP deeply disturbs me.". The fact that there is actually a strong demand for spvp/tpvp using pve gear, that there appears to be a greater wvw population, that there is indeed a greater pve population, and more importantly the fact you disregard this is what is disturbing.

As for “Saying otherwise is just ignorant and biased.” I agree with this. After all, thieves are experts at ignorance and bias.

Necros got it for a couple reasons. They needed a buff, they are the “condition class”, and so a new condition like this one makes sense.

Thief and Mesmer get it becuase the sun shines out of their kitten as they are the golden professions of ANet and will automatically get any new shiny.

You should be required to use your elite skill to kill a downed enemy? A bug is a bug and it needs a fix.

You need to L2P if you are dying to thieves, BM Rangers are one of the easiest most faceroll specs in spvp right now, if you cant even beat a thief with it you are terrible and are the last person who should be giving anyone advice.

If thats’ the case, lets make it so rangers have to use their elite skills to kill downed players too! Sounds fun!

First lets talk about WvW (Real PvP) for which Thief is the most faceroll profession. I do, in fact, use my elite to “kill a downed enemy” because RaO grants stability unlike some other professions (aka Thief) who can use spammable skills to stealth stomp downed players.

Oh and which sPvP map has control points in water?
