Downed state's Place in the game

As said in an earlier post, I doubt they will remove it completely since we have finishers. sPvP already has an issue with being rewarding, imagine how it would be if you didn’t event get finishers haha.

I think if they keep it, they should remove the rally mechanic off of instanced PvE, sPvP, and WvW. Then put a cap on the amount of rezzers to two or even one only across the game. Thoughts?

I like the downed state. The downed state (combined with dodge and positional attacks) is GW2’s replacement for dedicated healers. In most MMOs you need a dedicated Healer in order to recover the party in dire circumstances. Instead, GW2 offers the downed state which allows everyone to suddenly become a Healer and help a party member in need.

Stop thinking of the end of the health bar being the point where the player should die. That simply isn’t how it works in this game. The downed state in GW2 is no different than any other MMOs when you get an enemy nearly dead and then suddenly have someone fully heal them.

I see your point, but remember that most people had teams where they would only have one healer. In this game people not only have support/heal skills, but also rez skills and manual rezzing. So in previous game it was a lot easier to stop one healer than it is to stop 2+ people rezzing someone.

But I talked with a few guildies in game and some randoms. People do seem to like the mechanic, but many want a lot of balancing done. Making downed state effective in all aspects of the game. Others felt it was out of place in PvP scenarios.

Ok so the general responses seem to be either removal or major reworks of a few things.

Now lets say they remove the downed state from s/tpvp, WvW, and instanced PvE (such as fractals and dungeons). Do you think the community would react in a bad or good way.

Lets say the take out the rally mechanic, same thing. Community react in a positive or negative manner?

Finally what if they remove it completely? How would the community react?

Down-state is GW2 unique feature. It won’t go away. And it gives a heroic feeling when you succeed and rally up. It is really innovative feature.
If you don’t want to use it, just let yourself get killed, but let others fight for their survival if they prefer.

pretty much this!

tho there is no place in sPvP (im looking at you zerg rez!)

Yeah I’m not saying its bad in all aspects of the game. I understand it wont go away and we know that many players like it. That why we were thinking of reworking the rez mechanic to remove the rally system so players rely more on their teammates to rez. Helps encourage team play rather than tagging npcs.

What is everyone’s opinion of the downed state in all states of the game? sPvP, WvW, PvE, etc.

I’m rather curious because it is kind of a new thing in MMO genre and my friends and I have been discussing it. This is our opinion on the matter. What is everyone elses? We’re nearing the one year anniversary of Gw2 so I feel we’ve had enough experience with this mechanic to properly gauge it’s usefulness and effectiveness in the game.

Basically we’ve come to the conclusion (just our opinions of course) that the downed state is great for leveling and event end game dungeons/PvE content. However, we feel that it should be looked at in WvW and PvP. We both agree that the rally system in these two aspects of the game could be a bit too helpful. Having a play tag a random mosquito and then it getting killed by AoE in the middle of a fight for him to rez off of is a bit ridiculous. We also feel it splits the community too much in WvW because people view lower levels as burdens and annoyances. You’re in the middle of a fight and the enemy is rallied because a level 15 was in the battle and died very quickly or was focused down. The rally mechanic also makes coming back from out-manned situations a lot harder, close to impossible depending on your classes. We believe the downed state should stay, but the rally mechanic should not stay in PvP/WvW. Force players to rez teammates or to use their rez skills. Not just rely on underleveled players or random NPCs.

Welcome to the club. 80% of GW2’s population has been waiting for you.

Source, please.

Take a look around the forums. 80% of the posts about the Living Story are negative and 80% of the population wants improvement. Based on those forum posts and the negative comments I’m getting from my guild, I can safely say that the Living Story is hated by the majority of the population. My guild has nearly 500 members and there was a poll awhile ago on their website that asked how many people liked, disliked, or hated the living story. 74% hated. 17% disliked. 9% liked.

OK, so you pulled a number out of a hat. Got it. You don’t provide numbers for the informal guild forum survey, but by omission want us to believe that close to 500 took it. Forum posters are never a majority of the population and the forums are more divided than you seem to think — they always are.

My guild of 100 does LS when they want to, not when they don’t. There have been zero complaints about it. No one doing the events on FC is complaining in chat. No one in LA is complaining, in fact LA is more populated with people than I’ve ever seen, between invasions, and nearly empties when the next one starts.

Now, I’m not going to assume that my experience means that a vast majority of the game’s population likes the LS. It may, it may not. You may be right, you may be wrong. However, you cannot “safely say” anything based on the “evidence” you provided.

I would be happy to go back to their website and look in their archives for the original poll. The amount of people that took it was somewhere in the 300’s, but I can definitely double and triple check if you want me to. The 80% for the forum posts was an educated guess, seeing as how nearly nobody has commented on how well the LS is doing, I even gave the people that like the LS an advantage by lowering the % from 100 to 80.

Please do the comparison between the “I love the LS” posts, and the “I dislike the LS” posts, and you will see for yourself. I’m not attempting to push numbers on you anymore, unless you really do want me to go back and search for hours in the website’s archives. If you don’t believe me, do the comparison and the math yourself please.

That is where you’re wrong. Look at anywhere on the forums for any game and a majority of the post on the forums are about bad things. For some reason, I don’t know why, people would rather post about things that are bad rather than good.

I’d love to see this poll too. Even if it was 300 players (assuming a person only voted once, having trolls do this to polls would not be surprising), 300 is a very small number considering the copies that have been sold. I’m in a guild of 150 people and I’m the only one who frequents all sections of the forum.

Thats why its hard many times for developers to do things based on only forum post. They represent but a small fraction of the community. Another important thing is people having fun. More things are becoming perm and expect to see even more added in. However, temporary is a requirement for the living story to work.

Well we have to realize in order to make the living story feel real, they would have to make some stuff temporary. If everything was instance, it would kind of kill the experience too.

They should make some stuff that is perm, but not entire storylines. It defeats the purpose. The invasion being perm is a great start with this. They want players to be rewarded for sticking with the game and playing it. Not everyone will make it, this is true. Not everyone is on the forums either. Saying 80% of the population doesn’t like it is not at all accurate. I would probably say closer to 30%-40% at most. I like the system. I love finding new players and telling about all the stuff I saw and what not. It makes the world feel some what more alive and it is a new and welcome addition to the MMO genre. They said they will be making more things perm, which they are. Invasions are just a start and I’m sure we will see more.

2. WvW was never made for GvG anyways. Do not be surprised as the implement more and more stuff that can make GvG harder or force you into the puzzle.

If they wanted to make players go back to zones to do the events, they’ll have to go and rework the reward system for 80s. Right now it’s just not worth it for them.

Also a lot of these events are dreadfully boring. Gather X item, Kill X amount of enemy, etc. Players did this a ton while leveling up. Many of them don’t want to do it again.

In short, reworking mechanics of events and reward system may help increase it. As far as the LS goes, I doubt it will ever do anything to the point of convincing players to do the current events. Adding new events like the invasion, I’m fine with and it repopulates zones.

Haha, that’s assuming he started playing at start.

Honestly it wouldn’t feel like such a grind if there wasn’t only one game mode.

Also I think that if they kind of fix this whole system to make it a bit easier to earn these ranks, spvp my get a bit more popular. Every time I play and go in thinking (oh man i want that finisher), I play 10 games and spend 30-1 hr in there only to realize I’ve barely progressed.

Champion farm "Triangles"-Good or bad?

I’m seeing more people decide not to get a legendary because they’re becoming too frequent. In another year, how many more will have a legendary and will people still think they’re just as impressive. While exclusion is one of the ways to impress in an MMO. The weapons look impresssive, don’t get me wrong. However, in a game with no gear grind; progression is in looks. When all progression can be bypassed via the TP, what becomes of this progression?

Think about it like this. Do you think something is more impressive if he had to kill 10 of the hardest bosses in the game, or if he sat at one waypoint and killed “champions” by auto attacking them with 20 other people for 2 hours.

Elitism and Exclusion is what makes MMOs. It’s a fundamental part of the genre sadly.

Another thing I’m noticing with the champion farm triangles is it is draining the other zones. With the CoF farming, it was confined to three people and required some coordination. With the champion farm it is a lot easier, and a lot more people are able to do this. I’m seeing a lot less real players in other zones. The other day I was exploring in bloodtide coast. I found a total of 3 other players in the hour and a half i was in there. Two of them were bots. While simply nerfing the champion loot rate wouldn’t solve this. I think making it so that some champions in certain areas will drop special loot bags that only they drop and you have to do a series of events to spawn them.

These cities are areas in the game that are basically small capital cities. They sometimes may hold a special significance to a race in the game.

Often time you can spot these by they have special things such as a lot of detail, crafters, skill trainers, etc.

Some examples are the Skritt city in brisban, Zintl Holygrounds in Sparkfly, and finally Ebonhawke in Fields of Ruin.

My favorite is the Zintl Holygrounds. When you go around and talk to the NPCs and hear of their troubles, you really start to fear for them. There is also a special weapon set (beaded) that you can get here. Really awesome area.

When is queens jubilee in relation to things?

They should really just suck it up and put a disclaimer on the personal story. Whenever you enter a mission, text goes across the screen saying, “These events are set in the past, before the time of Zhaitan’s fall.” All this tip toeing around it during the living story is very annoying.

Indeed. Just say on the living story that these events happened after the fall of zhaitian.

It kind of acts like a spoiler for any living story arc. Probably one of the reasons they’re adding in a bunch of new characters. Like the queens speech. Of course they’re not going to kill the queen. She is too much in the personal story to have anything done to her.

Deified.7520

Yeah I love the changes to dungeons and I love the loot. I just feel like we should take advantage of the dynamic event system when it comes to champions.

Also on the topic of helping fight zergs, I also said this with world bosses. They need to convince players to spread out by giving incentives to interact with the world. Defending these npcs, driving this cannon, gather thing supplies. All of it leads to the enemies death and all those involved get rewards.

They have definitely dropped the ball when it comes to the meta events. This is actually related. Someone in map chat just mentioned that it is now more lucrative to farm the champs than to do the event. There are still people doing the events but less. Seems like it is at least partially working as far as "get people doing different things is concerned.

Back to the off-topic topic of events. While many could be made more interesting there is a time constraint issue. Both for the devs and for players. It seems like the devs ran out of time for many of them, maybe even all of them but there is a time issue for players as well. Making them more interesting could potentially make them a lot longer.

For example pre-launch during and interview somewhere one of the devs was describing an event that sounds like the Tequatl fight. Except instead of what we have now you were supposed to attack it with the turrets and if the turrets get destroyed it would start an escort event where you have to get the NPCs over to fix the turrets. You could reduce the boss’s health but it also has to maintain a certain minimum to give a chance for the other things to show up.

The biggest problem with the champion loot change and open world is that in some cases it rewards failing an event better than succeeding.

I can see why that would be a problem. The rewards at launch for these world bosses were horrendous. Hopefully as they improve them, they up the complexity/difficulty of the bosses.

How would you make it Permanent?

in Living World

Deified.7520

Hello everybody!

So in this thread, lets play a little game.

Think of all the chapters in the living story. Some you can bunch together if you’d like (the 3 months of Molten Alliance, Southsun, etc).

Now think of how you would have made them have a more permanent presence or impact in the world. Then post it here!

Ill start.

Molten Alliance- Put a place in Wayfarer foothills (since the plateau has the flame temple tombs) where it is the last remaining foothold of the Molten Alliance. It is a guarded area/stronghold where players can do a meta event to assault it with NPCs. Once you assault it in and fight a world boss/legendary, you open a way into a Flame Temple Weapons facility, the dungeon that will be added in the game as a fracal.

Southsun- I think the Queen was a nice touch. Would love the boss to be improved mechanics/combat wise (bit of a lag fest, scaling pre events, better rewards).

Dragonbash/Aetherblades- I would have liked that instead of the jumping puzzle, I would have done a mini dungeon. Instead of it just being jumping puzzles, it would be a mix of it all with a cool boss fight at the end. Mini dungeons are loads of more fun than jumping puzzles and are a lot less frustrating.

Bazaar of the Four Winds- I would have put in a traveling caravan of sorts that represents the Bazaar. They travel through the entire world stopping at a cool “underground” location each time. They sell a variety of wares, possibly special skins. They are allowed to do this, despite selling illegal items, because of the trade agreement with Lions Arc.

Queen’s Jubilee- They said they may make the Crowd Pavilion perm. If they do this, it will be great. I think that would be the best idea.

Ok guys, your turn!

White Mantle-Next Years Enemy?

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Deified.7520

Deified.7520

Here is how i think it plays out.

Assuming Scarlet is the slyvari and they are nightmare court.

The Nightmare Court and Inquest have no interest in DR. They would probably prefer The Grove and Rata Sum. Scarlet isn’t a city dweller either. You know who is? Caedaecous.

So Caed contacts Dredge and Flame Legion to form an alliance and do his bidding, they fail. He then contacts Nightmare Court, Inquest, and uses his bandits/pirates to help. They form the Aetherblade Pirates. He promises them that he will attack The Grove and Rata Sum once he is in control of Kryta, they just have to assassinate the Queen. They agree and we reach the point to where we are now. He had hoped to gain control of some leeway in LA, but we foiled that plot. I think eventually we may fight Caed and the White Mantle, but we also may go to Fort Vandal since they are an alliance formed between Nightmare Court, Bandits, and Inquest.

Toughness does nothing...

Some classes make toughness useless. Full soldiers armor in WvW. Thieves doing 5k+ (1/5 of my hp) with heartseekers and backstabs. Had one thief do 15k damage to me…

I’d love to see it become better for physical damage and then making vulnerability more desirable.

White Mantle-Next Years Enemy?

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Deified.7520

Deified.7520

So I think we will either be fighting the white mantle soon or next year.

I honestly feel like they are. Ok we have Scarlet. Next week we will figure out more about her, but I have to ask why. If she is the slyvari and if she is evil (usually evil slyvari=nightmare court), then why DR? Why not the grove? Why go after the Queen?

I think she is getting help from the White Mantle.

Now the Aetherblades are a alliance between inquest and pirates. If she is the nightmare court then one major thing comes to mind. Fort Vandal. It has been in the game since release. It is a alliance between the nightmare court, bandits, and inquest. Considering this living storys theme so far (alliance between two unlikely groups!) it would fit perfectly.

Champion farm "Triangles"-Good or bad?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Deified.7520

So with the introduction of champion loot, champion farm triangles have begun forming. Some people have been making a ton of money. Some of my guildies have made 100g+ in a couple of days.

There are a few things I’d like to discuss.

1. Are these farming triangles good or bad for the game/economy?

2. Are the rewards of champion loot (including skins) become devalued?

3. Are champions too easy to spawn/find/kill?

4. What are your final thoughts?

My Opinion-

1. It is ok for the game, but I’d like to see Anet take advantage of the game mechanics. I think that no champions should be natural. All champions should spawn at the end of events. This helps players get involved in with dynamic events and actually do them. This also helps players that are leveling in the area.

2. To a certain extent, yes. It is becoming pretty easy to make gold. Since these weapons can be bought with gold, lots are becoming very cheap. The hammers are dropping in price, rifles are ridiculously cheap, etc. They become less impressive when players can buy them instantly on the TP.

3. Yeah I do. When I go on these farming runs. I auto attack and we kill them within 2mins. I’d love to see an update on all their mechanics.

4. I think if they make them harder to spawn, then help diversify their drops. Lots of the good drops are found in the drops from Frostgorge and Orr. I’d love to see some more incentive to go back into lower level zones. I understand why they didn’t do this because down there we aren’t 100% downscaled and it becomes even more easier.

How I see meta builds formed

in PvP

Posted by: Deified.7520

Deified.7520

So I’ve been looking over the meta builds for the classes and I think I found how people figure out which builds are best.

Builds seem to revolve around their ability to take on multiple enemies and survive those multiple enemies.

I play an engineer and our most popular builds involve multiple kits and vigor/blinds for survival. Today I was messing around with a few different builds and I got involved in a few out numbered fights and it got me to realize some interesting things.

Not many classes/players have the ability to watch the animations/calls for all the skills. For example if you were up against a necro/thief. The player has to watch for the necromancers condi spam and either try to remove that or dodge it. The player must also watch the thief to dodge his attacks because they may do a large amount of damage. These things that plays must watch out for are not punishing if that player misues it. A thief misses a heartseeker? Do it again or wait for imitative. Necromancer miss a mark? Low enough CD or he just switches weapons. There is little punishment in a fight for misusing these skills. Another example is mesmer/ele. The player must watch the mesmers animations to make sure he doesn’t get stunned or burst, but also the clones to watch for the shatters/immobilize. There the player must watch a total of 4 models alone. Then you have the ele who you have to watch his attunements to try to predict his skills. If you dont he can do some massive CC or quite a lot of damage. All these things if a player doesn’t dodge/negate it, it could mean his death in a battle.

What does this cause?
The meta builds usually are composed of two things. AoE Damage/Very high single target burst, and defensive damage negators (evades/dodges, stealths, blocks, invurn).

Why?
The AoE damage allows players to hit multiple targets without actually actively paying attention to all the targets at once. This especially shines in out manned situations and teamfights. For very high single target damage, these is usually accompanied by a lot of defensive damage negators. The players must basically down a target very very fast by inflicting a ton of damage in one or two attacks, then run and wait for CD recharge (which isn’t that long).

The defensive damage negators allow players to basically negate damage from multiple sources without actively paying attention to them. IF a thief heartseekers me while I was dodging another attack from another player, I just negated 6k damage without actually paying attention. If I am blocking and a mesmer tries to do his shatters, I negate his shatters and then negate some more damage from other players.

Does this make for a good PvP meta?
Perhaps, it is a different style. I think the amount of players playing spvp will show how successful it is.

How to change it?

I would do these things personally

Reduce overall AoE damage in the game of all classes. Way too much and it does way too much damage. One of the reasons not a lot of AI are used. Rangers have low CD on their AI thanks to it starting when they summon them, mesmers are constantly shattering and summoning their AI.

Reduce overall burst damage. This could help steer the meta away from defensive damage negators being of such importance.

Increase Cooldown on hard hitting abilities. Honestly if any attack can deal 1/4 or more of a players HP (engineer in full soldiers armor taking 6-7k hits from a thief) should be on a cooldown to prevent spamming. One on One it is not as bad, but there is no official dueling and most fights have multiple models and players we have to watch.

Increase potency of conditions, but decrease classes access to them. This helps make them good, but it also prevents them from being spammed a ton. People should care about when to land a poison, bleed, flaming, or frozen. Not just spamming them in hopes of hitting them.

What the speech will be of+Reasons.

Also the WP theory talked about the alternate universe and alternate versions of ourselves. We have to look at characters in game that could have opposite versions. Versions that would be evil, so the current version in our universe would probably be good.

So at the reveal of scarlet it will either been the alternate Kiel or the alternate Jennah, most likely Kiel since she wont have a huge impact on the open world.

The problems he has discussed have been in the game for a while. Too much damage on some classes, rewarding spamming, little punishment for casting spells.

I think people are just noticing it now because the popular classes they played are getting kill by something easily now and are figuring out the problems with the games mechanics. If they fix necromancers, ranges, etc. I’d love them to fix illusion spamming, heartseeker spamming, etc.

The biggest issue with TPvP.

I hate post like this with a passion. This post can be made an exact replica for each class. I tried playing mesmer once and got first in 10 matches in a row. First time mesmer. Similar situation when I tried thief.

I remember months ago i made a post about this in a very similar format to yours and the forum flocked to defend mesmers.

Quite honestly it is a new meta, as meta changes so do the OP classes. Half a year ago the game was dominated by Eles, mesmers, and guardians. Eles got nerfed and I saw more thieves and rangers. Meta had a major change. New classes will take the reigns as domination. Since most people played classes that were the main meta dominators before (lots of mesmers and guardians).

That is the thing with this game. Since every class can do everything, there will always be 3-4 classes that will dominate the most. These will be most popular. If they nerf the current classes right now, it will go back to the power dominated meta of mesmer, thieves, and guardians. Mostly mesmers and guardians. Right now we’re just in a different meta. Instead of power, it is conditions. Instead of mesmers and guardians, it is necromancers and rangers. Next big meta change this will change yet again.

I think if it has anything to do with Jennah or her and logan, it would be most disappointing. From the preview page and the developers talking, it seems like they’re making this out to be a big event. I honestly feel it will be something technological related, human race related (repopulating Orr, finding a lost human settlement, cantha, etc), or charr + human related. There’s nothing else for the queen to talk about. Revealing the identify of Scarlet would be kind of pointless to hold an entire speech over. You can’t invalidate any of the storyline quest.

Also, the living story will have to change the already existing world. If anet continues to create and solve problems in the story arc while creating and removing land, nothing will be very interesting.

Here is another reason that I think we may be doing something with the Charr and Ebonhawke. Have you looked at the weapons you get from watchwork sprockets? They’re not mechanical, which is weird for what they are bought with. They don’t look like anything in Kryta. They look Elonian. I’ve never seen such Elonian weapons in this game. We also have a few armor pieces in the PvP locker that have been in there since release which would be very Elonian. Like the Voodoo armor. If we don’t go into Elona/Crystal Desert first, I’d be surprised.

Why is a human storyline being forced?

Hopefully it’s the start of a rotating trend where we get content for each race.

There is actually a dragon almost connected to each race and each race will be focused on for that dragon.

Jungle Dragon-Slyvari
Jormag-Norn
Kralk-Charr/Ebonhawke
Primodious- Asuran

The Queen Speech will most likely be touching on some big things on the story.

I will list them from ones that I believe are likely to happen and why.

1. The Charr and Ebonhawke will finally push out a peace treaty. Reasons are is that this is one of the best things that a speech could be used for, politics. Right now we have Ebonhawke emissary too which I thought was weird since this city has been rarely mentioned in the game except for a few personal stories. Then we have Rox and Braham. Imagine this. She is making the speech and gets attacked and/or captured. What better than the Black Citadel Emissary to come and save the day with Braham. What better way to further support and strength the bond that will be formed between Ebonhawke and Charr after they see a Charr save the Human Queen of Kryta!

2. Something Dealing with Logan. This could be a Marriage. While this would be a bit boring, it is something that is very possible. Right now it wont affect many personal story quest and the romantic tensions between Queen Jennah and Logan have been strong since release.

3. Something dealing with the cause of the great collapse. This was never explained in game in great detail and it was often theorized that a giant drake caused it. She may touch on this and open up a door into future things. Could be destroyers, or more.

4. The Tengu. This is probably the least likely. While it will very much be something that I’d like to see, the Tengu are hardly mentioned in this living story. It would be really out of place for them to all of a sudden open up the Tengu area, much less talk about them.

I and almost positive that it will be about #1. This is very big cause this could lead to one big thing. The opening of the Crystal Desert. Right now the whole thing with Charr vs Ebonhawke, Separatist, and others are causing The Queen to close Crystal Desert. This on top of Ebonhakwe already have clearly an abundance of setup for it being a important town (TP, Crafting, Secret Whisper Base, characters that have special dialog/names but aren’t used for anything, special weapons, etc). I would not be surprised if next year will be dealing with Kralk, Palwa Joko, Ebonhawke, and the Crystal Desert.

Now who are the Aetherblades and what not? I agree with Wooden Potatoes. The whole thing of them being from teh same timeline as the steam creatures and what not makes the most sense.

Can a dev clarify about the character receiving a gift when they are a year old?

I myself had my computer break down on the day of headstart so i didn’t get to play till a week later was wondering if ill still get the award just 10 or so days later or it i get it for logging in during this update?

If I made a character on the first day of the headstart, on that date I would receive my birthday gift. If I mad my character on December 1st, I would receive my gift then.

Whenever you first made your character. No matter the level or how much you played him, you will get a gift for him. So if I made a level one on the day of released, and immediately logged out. He would receive a birthday gift.

I believe they focus on the story.

They didn’t tell much.

Yeah it seems that way, which I’m happy for.

I believe they said this living story patch is supposed to be the one where we will see more perm. content added from the living story. So that coupled with developers saying “watch the skies” and then they are really pushing the whole “Major surprise!” I’m excited for it. While it is disappointing that the other parts of the game aren’t getting a whole lot of focus (the trebuchet mastery should be interesting and the world exp changes will be welcome addition), I do not doubt that the teams for them are still working hard. We do know we got better PvP rewards coming, some kind of raids, and probably more.

Looks interesting and fun. I personally can not wait!

A pretty lady is going to… Talk… What’s so special about that?

I dont know if you’ve been keeping up on the theories about the living story and what not. The developers heavily hinted that something big is going to go down soon in DR. “Keep watching the skies”. Then you have the WP theory on the living story. If his theory is true, then DR may be turned into a big battleground. IF that were to happen, which I’m hoping it does, I would be very happy. Also it would be interesting if the Queen is fake. Imagine if Ansie is the real queen and she has just been using mesmer illusions to put up the act.

I believe they are holding some things back for the sake of surprise (mostly dealing with the living story and the Aetherblades). I hear you get gems on the anniversary of the release of gw2 if you log in, so there is that too. So yeah expect some major things to happen for the living story, but it seems that the rest is all the features I know of. Hopefully well see some big balance changes, maybe not though. If it isn’t big, I doubt that they are just not doing anything. My money is on if it is small that they are working on some other big projects that require the teams attentions.

Large Guilds are bad for the Game?

i don’t think it’s a problem of size, but a problem of people that want to win easy and they are not able to lose…

Maybe that is the case. I still believe that smaller guilds could reduce the effect these players have on a server’s community. It could also slow down WvW because these 500 person guilds would require more work and coordination with the community to field these huge 50+ zergs.

Now as many of you know, this game can have guilds that can reach such sizes of 500 people.

We’re nearing a yearly release and I’m starting to see that having guilds this size is bad for the game. Very bad.

This includes many parts of the game.

First WvW. We are versing a server in WvW who had two of their biggest wvw guilds, both quite large, leave the server. Their server is very very bad now. They are getting dominated. My server had a similar thing. New guild forms, gathers 400+ WvWers on our server together. They play for about a month then they all switch servers causing our server to drop a few ranks because they just took a huge chunk of our WvW players.

This means that a simple guild switching could cause one server to go from enjoying WvW to getting dominated for a few weeks, possibly more, till their rank finally evens out. I think this is way too much power for one guild or guilds to have. Having smaller guilds = more guilds. Diversifying them is better for the server cause it prevents servers getting wrecked a few weeks in a row because on guild just moved servers.

Then we have PvE. The PvE side of this isn’t in dungeons, but a bit more complicated. If a guild has upgrades and is 500 person. This guild dominates the PvE spectrum. This means it is a lot harder for smaller guilds to get started. Not only because a majority of players are in one or more guilds, but also because those guilds already have upgrades and missions. People don’t like spending time trying to build up a guild and would rather just join a large one with full upgrades. While through hardwork they can get on their feet to a good size. It is just the time and work it takes for a guild to try to get started and compete with the larger guilds is insanely hard and could turn many players away from starting their own guilds.

I really just feel like the 500 person guild system has really killed this games guilds. We see less guilds and more of a domino effect chance if a guild goes under or switches servers.

This thread is now about Elixir R.

To be fair, they 2 other left without downing me. The engineer stopped attacking too and went to stomp me. I believe they didn’t see the animation.

Is Elixir R a bit overpowered? Perhaps. I think that if they make all knockbacks knock bodies it would be more powerful, though not all classes have these. I think a lot of things need to be reworked in this game, not just Elixir R.

I lost a 3v1, but I was clearly the best player of the four. Nerf them, please?

You can’t be serious with this post…I win 3v1 fights all the time. I honestly think it needs to be harder to do that

Well I’m glad that you think you’re good. I knew I wasn’t going to win. It just brought to my attention the amount of skills i was getting hit with and the cluster on the screen. I was successful in capping and decapping the point. I just wondered if it was ever thought on how easy it is to win in outmanned situations. With the abundent of CC, condis, and other skills that can turn a battle and are on low cooldowns with either no CPs or have low cast times.
