Here’s how to fix it:

Go into the volume control in the task bar after launching the game. There should be a volume slider for GW2 there. Set it to 100%.

For some reason it keeps putting the volume slider for GW2 to very low values sometimes, not sure why this is happening.

The word “event” has a very specific meaning in GW2, as in Dynamic Events, which occur in both PvE and WvW. It seems like these are the only possible vents they could be referring to. However, after they kittened up the original guild missions announcement, I’m hesitant to say for sure.

hmmmm maybe those kill veteran monsters events in wvw does not gives WXP? or they give WXP as well?

well, since, killing npc monsters in WvW has the risk of being killed by other players, hence some WXP is rewarded for such brave act etc? lul.

My guess is, when they refer to events, they are referring to events. So, when they say events will give WXP, that means that events will give WXP. Killing dolyaks is an event, and since they are saying that events give WXP, I would guess it is included.

Since they do not say that a supply camp, etc WXP is based on time, then I would guess that it is not based on time. They say that the longer a player is in the world, the more WXP they will give, so I would expect a player who is surviving longer to give more WXP where an event will just give a standard amount of regardless of how long the camp/tower/keep/etc has been capped.

As indigo says though, I cant say for certain as I am not an anet employee. Even if I was, I probably couldnt guarantee it would WAI right off the bat anyway.

well, perhaps WXP gained from the events are much more than defeating players so the amount is fixed and not varied then?

I would believe they are indeed WvW events, otherwise I have no idea what other events they could possibly be talking about…

aye, because 3 lines of text further explaining the WXP from defeating another player may give people the impression that WXP can only be earned from defeating players only.

i.e.
“The amount of WXP you receive from defeating another player is directly related to how long the victim has been alive. Players who have recently been killed are potentially worth no points, while a player that has survived for a longer period of time is worth more.”

i dun see them mentioning something like:

“The amount of WXP you receive from capturing Supply Camps, Mercenary Camps, Towers, Keeps, Stonemist Castle is directly related to how long these objective has not been captured.

Objectives that have recently been captured give normal points, while an objective that has not been captured for a longer period of time is worth a whole lot more points."

btw killing dolyaks should offer some WXP too.

i really hope this means we can earn WXP from doing events inside WvW besides defeating enemy players.

Wiki is taken from player research in game. It is made and maintained by players. If it is on the wiki then it is in the game. So you never “need” to resort to the wiki for details.

However I suspect you will be able to see the % by mousing over it. At least I would hope so. Also you can access /wiki IN game, so even if you need it you can do it while playing, don’t even need to alt-tab.

well, for most of the numbers in the wiki, i suspect that the players did a lot of trial and error before coming up with those numbers.

yes, that is what i hope also. when we mouse over, there would be more info etc.

but we all know how vague the current skills traits descriptions can be …

^ dungeon gear only offer 3 prefix choices (minor issue). Some prefix are not avaliable for ascended and backgear(major issue). Legendaries only have 1 prefix(major issue)

yes, it could be designed such that, to unlock new stats, the item with the new stats is absorbed into the existing item.

well, for example:
1st helm has berserker stats originally.
2nd helm has knights stats.
1st helm collects knights stats essence from the 2nd helm.
2nd helm is destroyed in the process. i.e. eaten by the 1st helm.
1st helm now can switch between berserkers and knights stats.
this process will consume a gem store product, i.e. fine transmutation stones

for gold sink purposes, can make it so that each change will require some silvers perhaps? for balancing economic purposes, as mentioned by many in here.

1 time cost aren’t a sink. You also didn’t say how much the cost of FTS should increase. There are people with 50g in bank, and there are people with 50,000g in bank, please keep that in mind. We need to provide the 50,000g with a (cosmetic) way to sink their gold.

Yes, but then they will not buy again, which is the opposite of what a company wants.

And what happens when everyone has the equipment they want and no one needs exotics anymore? The price of them tanks and as a result, ecto prices tank. This has way too much effect on the economic side of the game.

Please, enlighten us how this will encourage transmutation stones. Are you actually trying to reason that being able to change the skin at any time via a drop down menu will somehow do this?

it can be made such a way, such that, fine transmutation stones are required in order to unlock new skins and stats onto a single piece of equipment.

people will be more likely to spend on permanent items.

It’ll never happen because Anet will need to earn some money from gem store, and one of the most consistent and sustained sell would be the transmutation stones.

Your “idea” will never happen unless you get players to boycott gem store, which will happen in….. never.

In addition, we’ll also improve the functionality of legendaries, allowing you to set their stats when out of combat to any stat combo available, so you don’t need to transmute stat changes for legendaries. Legendary gear will remain with the same tier of stats as ascended gear and will not be made more powerful than other gear, it will simply be slightly more convenient since it will no longer need transmutations to change stats.

equipment being:
weapons: one handed, two handed, off hand
armor: helm, shoulders, chest, pants, gloves, boots
trinkets: back piece, amulet, ring, ring, accessory, accessory

stats being:
prefix: berserkers, soldiers, knights, etc
suffix: weapon sigils, armor runes, etc
infusions: offensive infusions, utility infusions, defensive infusions, etc

it would be like changing traits, just click on it to bring up a menu of unlocked stats and choose to switch to them while not in combat etc.

do you want it?

My opinion on what we need:

  • Being able to use skins without needing to transmute every time
  • Being able to switch you stats easily, once you’ve acquired an item that has the stats

How:

  • [NEW] Skin Database
  • How to get a skin in Skin Database?
    Simple: like Deimos suggested it: Anet has to add another option to transmutation stones. When using a Fine Transmutation stone you get a new option: Save Skin.
    Saving skin consumes the transmutation stone, but you get to keep your item.
  • You can now withdraw Skins from your Skin Database (see it as the HoM system atm, you can get those items from the vendor, in any amount you want, for free).
  • [NEW] Stat Database
  • Saving stats to Stat Database? Same procedure, though a higher cost.
    Saving stats will require 1 Fine Transmutation stone and 2 Basic Transmutation stones.
  • You get the option: “Save Stat to Database”.
  • This procedure will consume BOTH the Stones & the Item.
  • You can now withdraw the Stat Item for free from Database, in any amount you want.

!!!!!!! The items you withdraw from the databases will be Accountbound, so you can’t sell them!

changed the name again. this time calling it the ESSENCE GEAR.
since Zerg collects essences to mutate life forms, abilities, so why not?

I would love to see this implemented… I can say that if we had this already I’d be a much happier person today.

I enjoy trying out new builds and gearing up for them, so much in fact that instead of sticking with any one set for too long I destroy what I had (I need the inventory space, I refuse to carry any more than 3 armor sets) and move on to a new idea and test out different stat allocations via gear and such.

So, although it would hurt the people I end up buying armor from constantly, it would definitely help support my habit (which is expensive and therefore time consuming and very frustrating when I have to start settling for masterwork instead of exotic due to lack of gold).

Now don’t get me wrong, I keep 2 tried and true armor sets of full exotic (and some ascended things), but that 3rd set is constantly being changed.

for me, i will just stick with one armor set for my characters until this kind of system is implemented.

Rather than an armor that saves the stats, MMOs should really develop two “wearables” on the paper doll for characters — a visual piece of the slot for what your gear looks like and the stat piece of the slot for what it does. The latter could be swapped in and out, so folks would still need to fight the correct boss / run the correct dungeon / earn the correct currencies to get this gear the same as always. Visually players would be free to look however they wanted without the need to duplicate sets if they want the same look with varying stats, for example.

But this will infringe upon the transmutation stone sales, I guess.
At least WoW’s transmogriphication doesn’t delete the source item. allowing you to use it on multiple pieces of gear (e.g. want your healing set to look the same as your DPS set).

Perfect World Online is probably one of the closest examples of this. Not only does their character creation provide tons of sliders and customization, but their armor system is paired with “Fashion Mode” so you can choose what you look like and override the armor appearance if you want. Kind of like the costumes in GW1. Still not quite a disconnect between armor/character visuals and gear stats, but it’s close.

actually, this ESSENCE GEAR system will encourage more usage and ultimately sales of fine transmutation stones.

in the original guild wars 1, we can change our characters attributes freely while inside towns / outposts.

this will be the same with this guild wars 2 ESSENCE GEAR system.
able to freely change the skins, prefix, suffix once absorbed the said essence.

I agree with this statement. If anything I think people would actually spend MORE for these prefix items so that they can change their build on the fly to suit the needs of the situation.

Also crafters WOULD make more cash from this because they would be able to craft and sell the Prefix items. Like I said above I would imagne they would sell quiet well for the situations and even MORE so if they gave us the option to craft every stat combination like I suggested.

Items makers needs love too if you make it so any one could just simply switch what on there armor the TP would fall apart. The way it is now there is an endless demand for new gear and it keeps the TP alive and there by keeping gold reverent to the game. In GW1 gold was very worthless until you had a lot of it and ppl went to more of an item base economically ecto (the only one i know of) a like like in D2 where SOJ where the means of buying and selling.

i am one of such people.

i would prefer to buy a new character slot and roll a new character than buy multiple sets of armor just to have different builds for PvE / WvW.

Actually what the OP is asking for could actually be BETTER than using transmute stones.

Why?

Currently we are LOCKED in to specific stat bonuses for armours. Example:

Berserker: Power/Precision/Critical Damage.

Now what if I wanted Power/Toughness/Vitality? Currently this does not exsist as far as I am aware. They would have to add another named set and add it to the crafting tables. If they instead added items that let us choose which 3 stats we want for late game armour I think this would be a better idea for giving us more variety in stats/builds.

You can get fine stones from BL chests for free. I have done so myself using keys from the personal story. I have also bought 5 via the gem store with in game gold. It is not expensive in the slightest.

Again, the feature of changing armor prefixes is already in the game. If you want to do so, spend game gold on it there is no need to spend any cash.

Gold>gems exchange>gem store>job done

If there was a “free” way to change prefixes on exotic 80 gear, no-one would buy mutation stones.

But it wasn’t the case in Guild Wars 1 at launch. You had to wait 2 years to get that into Guild Wars 1. It didn’t happen at launch.

Actually, you’re acting quite entitled. It doesn’t MATTER if it was in Guild Wars 1 or not. It’s completely irrelevant. The inability to jump was in Guild Wars 1 too. Second professions were in Guild Wars 1. Energy was in Guild Wars 1. Dyes were in bottles, and you had to buy a new one every time you used it. There’s a lot of stuff in Guild Wars 1 that’s not here.

I don’t believe this game is going to change and I don’t believe it should. So pony up and buy some gems, or don’t. But what you’re asking is actually not reasonable.

yes, it was introduced later in guild wars 1, but it eventually happened there players were not charged an arm and a leg for it.

only the fine ones are "expensive " and even those can be gotten as dayly/chest rewards or even convert gold to gems to get them

yes, but the chances of getting one is quite low. converting gold to gems may be costly for some people. i.e. x1 fine transmutation stones cost at least 80 silvers based on the price of 2 gold per 100 gems.

the fact remains that a gem store item is required to do this and there is no other options.

this is not the case in guild wars 1.
in guild wars 1, prefixes can be easily removed and reapplied.

there are better ways to earn monies (character slots, bank slots, bag slots, town clothes, armor skins, etc other form of permanent items) from the players, forcing players to use fine transmutation stones is not one of them.

They are not expensive and can be had for free from BL chest. Go play some content sell the loot and spend the gold on them, its that simple.

You are asking for a feature the game already has, it wont be changed any time soon if at all.

using fine transmutation stones is different.
it destroys both items and makes a new one.

besides that it is also a gem store item.

it costs at least 80 silvers of in game currency for x1 fine transmutation stone.
there should be non gem store methods to achieve the same thing.

well anet is certainly not getting my monies from fine transmutation stones until a better system is in place.

though i dun mind spending real dollars for permanent items such as:
- character slots
- bag slots
- bank slots (already maxed)

Doesn’t this thread belong in suggestions? Nice idea, though I don’t see it happening. I mean one of the reasons people farm these dungeons are for the skins, as you pointed out, and as such less people will want to fight in dungeons once they have that skin leading to less groups being made making harder for others to get said skin or gear for the stats in themselves.

people would still do dungeons for the loot, silvers, etc.

The system you are refering to was added late to GW1 life. There were people in high end armors that were “locked in” to stats and builds of previous versions of the game and had to be catered for. Hence the prefix switching in Nightfall and EotN.

Its one extra step in GW2 for the same effect. With it tied to mutation stones it gives the gem store a product it can sell to satisfy those that want it. That combined with the player getting basic ones as rewards for map exploration and sometimes fine ones as BL chest items, everyone is catered for.

You can change prefixes at will using mutation stones. So the game already has this feature as standard.

yes, but it requires the usage of expensive fine transmutation stones. this was not the case in guild wars 1.

some people (like myself) will just avoid doing so all together.

Pretty much this without the Fractals.

ah well i only started doing fractals more frequently after the patch which allows re-connection. tried out fractals during the initial launch but was not impressed by the inability to reconnect.

i also do cof path 1 and path 2 speed runs with guild members if they are organizing.

armor repair fees are not cheap haha.

They would lose money on xmute stones, so this probably will never happen sadly. It’s a wonderful idea though. That’s pretty much how they do it in SPvP.

well if u wish to support anet, you can buy 800 gems using USD 10.00

or you could buy gems using in game currency,
it costs about 2+ gold to buy 100 gems

800 gems would cost at least 16 gold using in game currency.

hmmm you are correct but in the original guild wars, the prefixes can be easily removed from unwanted armor or weapons and then easily reapplied onto any new armor or weapons.

in guild wars 2, only the suffixes i.e. armor runes and weapon sigils behave like this.
the prefixes are kinda built into the armor / weapons / trinkets and like you mentioned, require a fine transmutation stone.

why can’t we replace them easily?

A Character Slot Expansion is an item that is purchasable from the in-game Gem Store. It provides an additional character slot for 800.

Notes
Accounts started with 5 usable character slots during the BWE2 and more were purchasable in the Gem Store.

Accounts begin with 5 usable character slots upon the release of the full game.
At this moment the maximum number of character slots that can be purchased for an account is unknown, but the number is at least higher than 32, for a total higher than 37.
One guess is that the number of slots is 35 for a total of 40 but this is unconfirmed

Trivia
During the beta weekends, the maximum number of slots one account could purchase was 3, for a total of 8 slots.
