i want to see the patch notes in advance.
can we see them now?
its 29 april 2013, monday over here.
pretty please with ice cream on top?
Are you trying to do them for badges, rummy, or for the achievements?
i think he just want to rile up the forumites.
i think he succeeded.
I want one massive 3 way server fight in one single small arena of inescapable death no walls.. no hills just sand of the arena… zergs pawnage. now it would be laggy and an epileptic’s nightmare but boy would it be funny as and you would score so much from spam
O_O errrr well, if player generated content is allowed in the Colosseum then perhaps yes that may be possible.
i.e.
arena floor texture type: sand
arena size: very small / small / medium
teams: 3 (could let players choose their own team i.e. red blue green or make it default to their own home servers etc)
type: team death match
respawn timer: author defined
respawn location: author defined
etc
and, if the system permits, may allow the public to contribute towards the custom arena’s rental so the custom arena is kept alive by the players who enjoyed it as well.
more gems sales, more profit for arena perhaps?
look on the bright side, you now have an extra ascended accessory for one of your other characters.
Yes. Vet and Champ fights are fun and I’d love Dailies and reward systems to just play with them outside of dungeons and events. There could be some cool fights.
There could be cool PvP incentives.
I’m for it.
hmmm fighting waves of veterans or … gasps champions! in the following Colosseum arena modes:
- co op battle against monster
- co op battle against monster – challenge accepted version
hmmm a whole new Colosseum dailies and Colosseum monthly? WvW then.
omg completionists gonna rage! casuals rejoice! new alternative to earn some laurels. well probably not, since we will be using PvE gear so the Colosseum will probably be an extension of PvE and WvW.
do you mean some new sPvP incentives to catch the sPvP only players attention perhaps?
let me quote a line from your forum signature:
“If you don’t get it right the first time, keep on sucking until you do!”
and it is not called grief.
it is called pvp in a pvp zone.
Hell ya to all of that
aaah thanks for the feedback!
Hmmm, like a mega-extension of the Sylvari storyline gladiator pit fight for Caladbolg where the Sylvari and his opponent (the notorious thiefing squire) end up in a drugged haze, hallucinating? With bets being placed by gawkers, including the Charr who bets on the dark horse (you) and makes a mint when you divinely win (with a little hand-greasing to some mercenary archers up on the wall above the pit)?
Like that?
No.
Not personally.
I can see the attractions for others though.
What kind of rewards would you offer?
Nobody actually does this kind of thing “for fun”.
Needs incentives.
<straightface>
hmmm i dunno what you are talking about. must be the Sylvari personal story quest since i have not done that yet hahah.
hmmm rewards, incentives, hmmm true that.
well, lets see,
- new achievements, new titles perhaps?
- new “Colosseum Rank & Abilities” similar to the somewhat new “WvW Rank & Abilities” kittenol
- silvers?
- bet winnings?
- more silvers?
- new token? kittenolol
- new currency? we have bronze (copper), silver, gold, laurels, karma etc.
hmmmm if we look at it in more detail:
- co op fight against deadly monsters with people cheering / booing
if people cheer (Colosseum spectator skill), increases chance for bags of silver from killed monster.
if people boo (Colosseum spectator skill), increases chance for <insert something bad here>
win more silvers for surviving more battles in a row without dying?
got solo mode with npc (for those forever alone ppl), random party mode (hey, we just met, lets kill some monsters together!), arranged party mode etc.
some small entrance fee to act as gold sink.
- place bets (or manipulate them for more profit?)
place bets on any on going activity in the Colosseum? house (anet) takes a cut of course, to act as gold sink etc.
- competitive co op battles (monster pong maybe? kill a monster to send a new monster into opposing team’s lane)
could be a “challengers accepted version” of the “co op fight against deadly monsters with people cheering / booing” mentioned earlier.
it starts off as a normal game until another team decides to challenge you.
could have random people cheering / booing on both teams for various <insert nice things here> and <insert bad things here> for the 2 teams.
challenging team needs to pay some small challenge fee perhaps?
- 1 vs 1 duels ! (or team battles, yawn)
bets!
small entrance fee.
- last man standing free for all (with time limit?)
bets! see who survives in the end.
small entrance fee.
vicious monsters are let loose once 1st time limit is reached
deadly traps start appearing once 2nd time limit is reached
- player generated content (player made arenas filled with traps, monsters etc)
cost gems perhaps? some profit for anet
custom arenas rental?
do you want a Colosseum?
you know, kinda like those ancient roman gladiator thing.
player limit could be 500 per Colosseum server since that is the WvW player limit per borderlands / eternal battlegrounds.
maybe 3 servers currently at war in WvWvW could share one Colosseum server?
entry, maybe enter some new asura gate in lions arch to get into the Colosseum.
players could participate in various PvE and PvP (using PvE gear) activities:
- co op fight against deadly monsters with people cheering / booing
- place bets (or manipulate them for more profit?)
- competitive co op battles (monster pong maybe? kill a monster to send a new monster into opposing team’s lane)
- 1 vs 1 duels ! (or team battles, yawn)
- last man standing free for all (with time limit?)
- player generate content (player made arenas filled with traps, monsters etc)
- etc
hmmm perhaps it would be more optimized to separate different activities into different instances, like dungeon instances etc.
so, do you want a Colosseum? yes? no? why? XD
p/s: this is a general question topic aimed at the general guild wars 2 players crowd with some examples thrown in.
if i got the time, i will go through and see who voted “yes”. words like “yes” or “+1” or “i like it” etc will be taken as a YES vote unless otherwise stated.
YES (11)

sorry but if you cannot down me then the match is not over.
if you are really good your opponent will not have a chance to run away.
i think if done right they may make lots of monies from gem store sales.
u have no idea the amount of people who would prefer full AI team mates over real ones for dungeon runs.
p/s: i am not one of them. i run dungeon with full guild members team.
downed stated will not be removed.
get over it already.
downed state to me, ruins the prospects of teamdeath match. Heres my example.
Red team vs Blue team
5v5
Red team downs 4 of blue whilst blue team only downs 1 of red. But if blue manages to finish off that 1 red dude they all rally. The whole rally and downed state thing kills PvP IMO. PvE I think its a nice unique system that works well with the idea of no tanks healers or dps per sei. But PvP ….nope chuck testa.
i think downed and rallying is working as intended.
unfortunately they refuse to do anything regarding this.
this is why i group with guild members only.
Funny you say that because I’m on guard when I group with guild members only. I’m always making screenshots just in case.
Never had any kick me yet, but you know … it’s just too easy if the other people have all the power in a group.
well if it is just you ( guild A ) and 4 other people ( all 4 in guild B ) then yes i think you should always be on guard etc.
for my case, i group with 4 other guild members (of my own) so it is a team of 5 (all 5 in the same guild) hence no fear of kicking.
unfortunately they refuse to do anything regarding this.
this is why i group with guild members only.
I think punishing those who leave early in some way is one reasonable way to “help” the situation but there really is no perfect solution to this problem imo.
hell no. no punishment.
do people who leave team fortress 2 games get punished?
them 8 vs 8 (16 players) rooms are working as intended.
people are free to drop in and drop out for some quick action.
tournaments, however. needs some leavers de buff to discourage their intentional leaver behavior.
no, thank you.
i prefer the 8 vs 8 (16 players rooms) to behave like team fortress 2 games where i can drop in and drop out anytime the match is going on.
go play tournaments. you will get what you want there.
Unable to stack multiple copies of PvP Armor and PvP Weapons in the PvP Locker.
hmmm i’ll be happy with more game modes for sPvP.
but if free for all death match or team death match is introduced, the respawn wait timer better be fast.
and yes free for all death match seems exciting.
the newly respawned player could be in stealth for a few seconds or invulnerable etc.
I said it was taking ME forever to complete and asked if I anyone else was having the same issue.
Helpful responses have been ‘it shouldn’t be taking you that long’. ‘Try tourneys with rank buff’ ’it’s appropriate for ppl that pvp semi regularly’.
oh by the way i think “rank buff” items do not exist.
glory boosters only boost glory and not rank points.
spvp glory points and spvp rank points are 2 different things.
what profession do you play in sPvP and what is your average end match score may i ask?
i play a mesmer in sPvP, mostly in 8 vs 8 games since i kinda enjoy the mini zerg feel.
my average score is around 150 – 250 on a normal game provided if the opposing team is not too “pro” and my own team is decent enough.
oh, i also complete all PvE dailies and monthly as well. so i am a PvX player i guess.
for this month’s PvE i completed the 50/50 WvW kills since it returned.
achievement points are for doing achievements. Some achievements are easy, some are hard.
This one is hard
get over it
6000 sPvP rank points is not really hard, just need to take some time.
3/3 sPvP tournament wins, on the other hand, could be hard. or just depends on luck. as in lucky to have 4 other decent team mates plus having decent skills oneself.
say average each match earns 200 rank points
200 × 30 = 6000
30 matches will suffice.
if not maybe average 150 points then
150 × 40 = 6000
40 matches will be okay
else … 100 points average per match then …
100 × 60
60 matches will be needed
besides, if you get 200 rank points at the end of the match, it means u also get about that much rank points during the match so total about 400 rank points per game.
i only play like 3 matches per day and i finished my sPvP monthly within half a month. i think.
Yeah, it seems like the PvP locker is still far from fixed. There still exists weapons who share the same skin(not supposed to do that), weapons and armor with wrong names and items that can’t be crafted for no apparent reason. For example, the Legionnaire Harpoon Gun cannot be crafted since the respective token greys out when you highlight your arcane silver.
wow, after all these months and they are still not doing anything!
what the … #%@$#%$
FIFO. First in, first out.
If you look at your row of conditions, the right-most condition is the oldest, so that one gets cleansed first.
FILO. First in, last out.
LIFO. Last in, first out.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition
For generic condition removal, the most recently applied condition or conditions will be removed first. The condition is removed independent of the intensity, so 3 stacks and 25 stacks of bleeding are equivalent when considering condition removal.
for example my mesmer can drop 8 stacks of confusion on someone and then attempt to cover up the confusion with other conditions such as bleeding, burning, vulnerability etc.
Instead of storing multiple items, why not just make them item unlocks? Where we click an unlocked skin and can then apply it to a pvp item as much as we want.
This x10000000….someone bring this man beer!
They would have to add an entire new system because you won’t be able to salvage those things an “infinite” amount of times to get as many dust/orbs/crystals/etc that you want, they would have to rework their entire mystic forge recipes and add new collectibles, which isn’t going to happen.
at least let us stack more than one copy of each armor / weapon.
say 10 or 20 or even 50 instead of just 1.
what I really hate is starting finisher then go into mist form.
If they wanted to allow you to use mist form while doing finisher, why cant you go into mist form than do finisher?
You can go invis and do finisher, why don’t they make it like mist form, where you have to start finisher than stealth if you want a stealthy finish and not allowed to stealth before finish.
The fact that you can stealth first or last when doing a finisher makes me think stealthing is allowed, but not being able to finish while in mist form makes me think its not suppose to happen, but finishing then being able to go into mist form just breaks all those rules.
what are you talking about?
Remove downstate please.
no, please. down state will stay.
there are countless times where a team member was downed right in front of me and i brought them back up immediately.
well it helps if it is their first time downed.
I wonder if anyone would think this devastating to perform a finisher if you could not perform a finisher with Invulnerability, Stability, Stealth, and any other exploit out there if any?
oh come on now. those are not exploits.
it is called playing the game the way it is meant to be.
16- Ability to stack more than one piece of the same gear in locker, 2 would be ideal.
16) The limit of 1 is a technical limitation.
I thank you for your time here, but dude that is plain sad, where did you outsource the code for this to?.
Collections can clearly support more than 1 item per slot, as seen elsewhere in the game. The problem is that it takes 8 times the amount of space to support more than 1, and PvP has a ton of items. In this case, “technical limitation” means size constraints.
in that case, could we make the PvP Locker to behave like the Hall of Monuments ghost who hand out PvP Skins once we unlocked those skins?
hot join can stay only if they throw players into 16 players rooms and not 10 players room.
10 players rooms are kinda public dueling rooms for some.
Not if Custom Arenas get implemented. Then you have to buy some Custom Arena item to make a 2 players duel room for a limited amount of time.
well unless they remove all the public 10 players room, people will still use those public 10 players room for dueling purposes.
when i play for fun, i find a 8 vs 8 (16 player room) and find fun in it.
the current system is somewhat okay.
people need some form of progression.
seems like more people fancy this “I’d like to see the PvP Locker, concerning gear, be like how Sigils and Runes act. When “extracting” a Rune or Sigil out of the PvP Locker, the item is duplicated into your bags. Why have the hassle of having multiples of the same piece of gear when we could just have it act as a reusable skin?” so i added it to the first post for new comers to see.
It’s a lot better than the one we have now imo, pow/tough/heal (at least for my guardian). Toughness is nice of course but it doesn’t protect against conditions and guardians have a rather small health pool.
ah i see. fair enough.
I’d just like to see stats on trait allocation untied from the traits.
i.e have a separate screen you allocate your trait stat points. Have the placement limited to what you can do at x level now. No allocating more than 100 stats to something until lev 40, then max of 200 until 60, then max of 300 from 60-80.
hmmm but why would you want that? O_O
what is wrong with the current stats traits system oh?
hot join can stay only if they throw players into 16 players rooms and not 10 players room.
10 players rooms are kinda public dueling rooms for some.
no one else wanna stack em?
I’d rather gain gear points of some sort where you could spend on specific sets. Some sets could require higher a higher Glory Rank (Shark, Dolyak, ect.) while the other ones require a minimum tPvP rating (once the leaderboards decrease in volatility and become more polished). Think Planetside with some rank/rating barriers to certain gear sets.
=)
actually it was like that during beta until they changed it into rng
Stacking items would be great, or at the least a generic bank tab like in the PvE bank.
hmmm we dun really need a generic tab though since we got almost everything in the PvP Locker.
what if melee damage is buffed?
Would be nice, slightly off topic, but I’d LOVE a way to mass salvage items. Having to double click salvage kit, then click item, then click ok for each item is just palin irritating. Maybe being able to highlight multiple items in the same way you can select multiple files in windows using shift or ctrl, and then right clicking them with salvage all option would be a really nice quality of life change.
yeah actually i was thinking about this one also.
maybe a salvager device that accept 2 items:
1. PvP item to be salvage
2. PvP Salvage Kit
we put the PvP Salvage Kit into it first and when we put the PvP item to be salvaged, it is immediately salvaged.
the PvP Salvage Kit remains in place until depleted or until we take it out.
well, you may not like them, but you dun speak for the whole community.
i enjoy both 8 vs 8 and 5 vs 5
them 8 vs 8 are good for sPvP dailies.
those PvP armors and weapons.
inside our PvP Lockers.
i want to stack them.
i.e. I wanna keep more than 1 set of them.
Yes, please.
does anyone else feel the same?
edit:
it seems like a few people supports this concept as mentioned by Art.9367 :
I’d like to see the PvP Locker, concerning gear, be like how Sigils and Runes act. When “extracting” a Rune or Sigil out of the PvP Locker, the item is duplicated into your bags. Why have the hassle of having multiples of the same piece of gear when we could just have it act as a reusable skin? I don’t see many downsides to this and it’ll make gearing alts much less stressful. No more juggling around extra sets of gear that you want for your alts but don’t have the quick convenience of PvP Locker to store your goods.
(edited by Deimos Tel Arin.7391)
it is bugged.
we can’t get it.
please fix it.
thanks!
It’s unknown right now.
aye. i got a few pieces in my pvp locker. well except the pants.
and i no idea when where how i got them.
u know what?
i think anet messed up this one.
i.e. bugged.
no one reported it and think its unknown.
anyone know how?
I’d die for some Power/Vitality/Healing Power armor/trinkets
hmmm y u want that?
as in
POW/vit/heal ?
make henchmen / heroes available for hire for gems.
anet profits
The necro is powerful for a couple of reasons. Though he has low armor, he also has the highest health in the game, along with warriors. Bringing his toughness high, at the same time as bringing his condition damage high, would make him almost impossible to kill. Because you’d end up with a character that was high healh, taking damage like he had heavy armor, with a second health bar like death shroud, who could condition damage you down really fast with poisons (which also slow your ability to heal), bleeding (which can do a lot of damage), life steal, there’s so much a necro could do.
Because of their high health, giving them power, toughness and condition damage could almost make a necro unstoppable.
thanks for the detailed elaboration! i appreciate that!
but let’s look at
CONdition damage / power / toughness
say the necro equips everything with this prefix
x6 armor: helm (& breather) shoulders chest pants gloves boots
x6 trinket: back amulet ring ring accessory accessory
weapon: 2-handed (or main hand, offhand)
base vitality of 916 gives the necro a health of 18,372
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Health
well, before any other runes bonuses or WvW bonuses or food if playing in PvE or WvW and before any traits bonuses also.
lets just look at sPvP stats since there is a quick calculator for it.
i.e. http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/
using staff weapon,
before traits, sigils, runes, foods, wvw bonuses, etc:
attack: 2,671
defense: 2,480
health: 18,372
condition damage: 923
necrotic grasp: 419
mark of blood: 189, x3 bleed 2,128 over 8 seconds
chillblains: 314, poison 1,058 over 6 seconds
putrid mark: 756
reaper’s mark: 157
anyway these numbers are base numbers, without traits and other bonuses etc so the numbers would be probably higher.
but it just conditions damage right? i.e. bleed and poison. still need some time to kill off someone. if people have decent condition removers they would have survived through it. well, that is what i think at least.
and how good is a defense rating of 2,480 by the way? i know some thieves still can easily burst down my sPvP mesmer with a defense rating of 2.9k if I am not paying enough attention to them.
but at some point the current armor system is going to be problematic.
eh what do you mean by problematic? do you mean storage space? i deal with it by buying more character slots though haha.
one character for one armor set, one build.
that’s just me i guess.
But conditions don’t benefit at all from precision. That splits some of the effects. Many of the skills that do condition damage, however, will benefit from power.
well, some necro traits benefit from precision, and some weapon sigils too.
well i seek to know what the official guild wars 2 forum frequenters think.
thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
i have still to see someone elaborate an over powered build though.
so they say CONition damage/toughness/vitality could make necro over powered.
what i see is just a necro with decent health and defense, high condition damage and low base attack damage. how would that be over powered?
I know that would make you happy. You’ve said it in at least three threads. Just post one thread in the suggestion forum and that’s it. Because making the same thread over and over again, or a thread with the exact same agenda isn’t winning you any support.
It may be that devs will do something like that, unless they have a reason not to, which I suspect is the case. Anyway, good luck to you.
thanks for the feedback everyone!
anyway, i would be happy even if they give us:
1. blank skins
2. slot in soldiers, berserkers, clerics, shamans stones etc.
if freely slotting in
x1 major attribute stone
x2 minor attribute stone
is asking for too much.
