in the above case, some of red team players decided to leave the game.
some of blue team’s players will be balanced over.
in the original guild wars 1, people can PvP together with PvP only people using their PvE gear, not sure why this is changed in GW2 …
It’s not at all about balance though. A free for all with no rules is just that, a free for all.
What it does allow is for a mate to go, “I have real problem with X class in WvW/PvP, you play that kind of build, want to pop to the arena and let me try some ideas out.”
Or a guild to go, “lets all go to a the Arena and play circle of treachery” (last man standing, normally very funny as what generally happens is the weak players team up on the strongest player, but you are never sure when they are going to stab their “compatriots” in the back.)
In other words, it allows the community to run fun events, without many restrictions.
this would be nice.
also, make players read and sign some message stating that “no balance requests” will be entertained in the arena blah blah blah etc.
Unless they increase the amulet/jewel combinations in pvp, I’d be interested in this too.
If it’s more pvp style maps, then perhaps as one poster said no broken armour?
they could make it such that 5 vs 5 or 8 vs 8 casual non competitive PvP but using our PvE stats right?
and “balance” complaints will be disregarded generally since everyone is using PvE gear which means not everyone will be in “top gear” quality gear.
I’m going to have to agree here.
I have no issue with 1v1 arenas. I have no issues with people opting to use their pve gear instead of pvp gear in that arena.
However, because the game isn’t balanced around 1v1, you’re going to quickly see some class inequities, which are going to make the players kitten, and loudly at that.
“Why can’t x class beat y class? y class is over powered, nerf it!”
At which point 1 of 2 things is going to happen:
1) Anet is going to ignore it (because that’s not how they balance), and people are going to get POed.
OR
2) They are going to try to ‘adjust’ to make that player group happy and make everyone else POed. (and potentially throw things all out of whack)They are kittened it they do, kittened it they don’t.

Well if A.Net made it official they would be held responsible for balance issues. You can’t balance professions around 1vs1, sPvP and WvWvW at once.

actually, based on my experience, the drop rate for badges has been increased tremendously.
if you join zergs and come out alive, there’ll be lots of loot bags around, with badges too.

I have suggested it before: Hybrid WvW/PvP maps. Smaller maps where you can skirmish over objectives beside the “main” borderlands and EB.
As a simple example: A map with a central fortified keep. No not SM, more like border keep size and 2-3 camps. Each server has a player limit of say 30 but there are also more and stronger NPCs than in the usual WvW keep. The server that hold the keep get +10 points in WvW (supply camps dont count in this map).
maybe we should have some new smaller WvW battlegrounds map?

it is actually 25,459 health healed over 95 seconds.
which translate into 267.989473684 health per second
rounded up to 268 health per second
each banner tick adds 4 seconds of regen buff with 268 / second to 5 allies within range of the banner.
I think the best fix would be visible enemy cast bars, preferably under nameplates.
this was present in gw1.
why was it removed in gw2?

aye, i believe that the bulk of the complaints i see in the forum comes from people who are not in a guild.
To answer above no I am not in a guild I have joined a few and none of them turned out to be any help in anything other than being a chatroom so I am not having much luck on that side either

I do not want any more ascended gear – just as Palador said, this is a very dangerous precedent, that by it’s very existence completely changed the core play style. If they will be introduced anyway, though, i’d rather have it through crafting than some timegated methods like laurels (or access gated methods like guild missions).
Also, if the currently existing ascended eq is to stay, all the missing stat combinations should become accessible as well – that includes the ones that can be acquired only through drops, temple vendors or dungeon tokens (like magi or shaman).

do we get the soldier’s insignia from them? no? why not?
So when I say, keep it cheap. I mean keep it cheap. Ascend my exotics to ascended stat equivalents via..some small amount. Do not charge me 50 ectos, 40 laurels, 30 commendations, 20 vadges, 10 obsidian shards.. Poof.
for me, laurels is still ok. since they just cost time to obtain.

It’s already in the game, have you not been to Black Citadel? They have an arena already and it has the traditional animal cages, multiple tunnels for several players/monsters, and even drop cages for the really nasty surprises.
But like most of the activities, it is not implemented.

yellow battlegrounds (in between red’s and green’s home land)
if eternal battlegrounds would be a 3-way battle then the cyan, magenta, yellow battlegrounds would be a 2-way battle.
i.e.
for cyan battlegrounds (in between green’s and blue’s home land) :
- green and blue each get their own keep kinda like in eternal battlegrounds where each color have their own keep though that keep can be taken over by others. same case here, their keep can be taken over.
- red will not have a keep
- etc

if i went into a public server with 2 players, then there is a high probability of the 2 person are dueling inside there, so i will avoid those servers.
so if i went into a public server with more than 10 players, i will expect it to be a normal game, not a server full of people dueling.
i looked at the pvp browser, it was a public server.
the name is “server <some 3 digit number>”
around 13/20 players. (8 vs 8 game with spectators)
i went inside only to realize all of them are dueling.

Are you sure you aren’t joining the custom arenas? I don’t think this is a problem.
Since my guild doesn’t have a custom arena, we like to join empty servers to practice and duel.

Guardians don’t get everything in one tree. Shout cooldown and shout condition removal, both of which are extremely important, are in another tree. A popular trait build for Guardians is 0/0/30/30/10. 60 trait points devoted to survivability. Of course, Thieves can build something like 0/10/30/30/0, but it’s not particularly common. Almost any trait distribution that takes some form of survivability will put 30 (or at least 20) points into SA (Edit: into SA first. It’s extremely uncommon to put points into acrobatics before SA)
are you comparing [guardian] and [thief] ?
[guardian] = [heavy] armor + [low] health pool
[thief] = [medium] armor + [low] health pool
basically,
[guardian] = boons, support, etc
[thief] = stealth, burst, etc
you cannot compare them.
it is like trying to compare apples and oranges.

perhaps it is working as intended? [hidden assassin] has been behaving like this since day -3 is it? i dunno. i did not play a thief from day -3 so i cannot confirm on that.
unless they change it in the future patches i would say this is working as intended.
I am pretty sure when dev put together the sa trait they didn’t realize that minor 25 can be spammed by leap through the same smoke field. If u have two thieves working together you can spam leap finisher nonestop and its quite possible to get 20 stacks or even more in wvw, with a wall and some helps from runes you can even get full stacks.

Toughness is actually way better than vitality when you have spamable cleanse and healing. SA is quite a sweet spot there . Not saying its op because of that. If u read my post you will know its the bugged minor 25 trait when it’s abused in dp build.

realize that the SA tree != Thief class as a whole so one trait line being amazingly good doesn’t necessarily mean the class is overpowered.
In any case, I honestly don’t believe the Thief sub-forum has any grip on what actual ‘balance’ is. Play another class for a while, see how good you have it. We aren’t even that bad in PvE.

more vitality means more health is always good against conditions though. and helps to survive lag spikes.

That doesn’t have anything to do with how good the SA tree is. Elementalists have an nice tree too (Water), and they have even lower armor, and the same health pool. Yet they are still a viable class. Their tree that gives healing even gives vitality, which (personally) I think is kind of a useless stat past a minimum level. Toughness from the SA tree is much better.
you forgot to mention that thief has medium armor and low health pool.
If you look akitten in a vacuum the SA tree has amazingly good synergistic traits. Compared to acrobatics, it is the obvious choice for survivability.
It has condition removal, initiative regeneration, longer stealth, health regeneration, might stacks, and an ‘oh crap’ skill (albeit one that doesn’t always work properly). You can even get all of these at the same time, which is what everyone does. The tree even gives toughness, and healing power, both of which work well with all the traits in it.
I don’t know if there are any other classes that can get everything they need to survive in one single tree. It just has so much good stuff condensed into 30 points (I won’t say ‘everything you could ever need’, because it doesn’t have endurance regeneration)
So yes, I think the tree is OP. Before the entire forum jumps on me and says “noob L2P” or whatever, realize that the SA tree != Thief class as a whole so one trait line being amazingly good doesn’t necessarily mean the class is overpowered.
(But to any Thief that thinks we are in any way underpowered for WvW right now, I would vehemently disagree and tell them to ‘L2P’)
