well there would be no such problems is guild hall is introduced and guilds can do battles against one another in their respective guild halls.

But you don’t really know, that’s my point. Anyway, someone did furnish examples, which someone else didn’t agree with, but an example was furnished. Penatbater did say that he believed certain combos would be OP, which means you did in fact get your example.

now lets say if all 17-19 weapon armor trinkets to use the following:
pow/TOUGH/heal
- low health (death by conditions)
CON/vit/tough
- low base attack damage
- high condition damage, but may be ineffective against characters with ranged attacks over light fields and condition removers etc
CON/vit/tough might probably be a good counter to pow/TOUGH/heal i guess.

well, i suppose i keep saying that, because perhaps i have yet to see an example of how they would hurt?
the implementation of doing that is extremely un user friendly and daunting. Also, i think they will probably release most stat combinations eventually anyhow. we already have a great many of them
well, we could have both. current system for user friendly and the “fill in blanks” for those who want their own customization. more gold sink too. i.e. vendors sell a tool that allow extraction of attribute stones from any weapon armor trinkets.
more stats combinations would not hurt though.

because i cannot imagine what could go wrong or imbalanced with more freedom of stats allocation.

more damage? low health, armor.
more health? low armor, damage.

No, I can’t, because I’m too lazy to care if you get it or not. But the logic of it is pretty simple.
Right now, there are X numbers of possible combinations of stats. That’s it. That’s how many stat combinations there are.
Once you have more combinations of stats, that means that certain stats could, conceivably go higher than “intended”.
Simply put, the options that are available are options for a reason. Now I may not know that reason, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that Anet didn’t test other stat combos and find them OP.
Since I don’t know, I can’t say, but it seems to be a logical reason why certain stat combos exist and certain others don’t. I can’t think of any other reason, off the top of my head.
So if you can put any stats you want, you’d then create a combo which hasn’t been balanced for.
It’s pretty simple logic.
Lots of things could go wrong with it. The problem is you’re not a game designer and so you can’t see it. You’re interested in what you want to do…which is fine..since you don’t get to design the game.
The more “freedom” you give in builds, the harder everything is to balance. The less control you have. Games with too much freedom often have the worst balance.
Right now, stats are pretty much capped at how much you can put into them. Changing this so it’s a free for all, means that certain builds could be created that would quite literally break the game.
We had that in Guild Wars 1 sometimes, where a certain build would come out and until it was nerfed, it was all you could do if you wanted to play the game.

If this ever happens on my server’s match up, I’m going to find my way over, and mist-form STOMP any and all participants. I will find ways to disrupt the entire process over and over again. Why? Because this is NOT Warhammer Online (where they did this bull droppings thing a lot) and this kind of buddy-buddy 1 on 1 is NOT what WvWvW is design for. Because, it’s designed for massive fights between each servers with full enemy in mind (no, they’re not friendly sparing matches).
If you want that kind of 1vs1 fights. Go into the Heart of the Mists and start an empty server with just you and the opponent for the duel. Nobody wants to join a 2 person server, and you get the opportunity to duel. Good luck.
well you see, the stats allocation in PvE-WvW and sPvP is very different …
because it would require a lot of work to rebalance things so it makes sense, and would probably lead to a mass nerfing of traits. (part of the balance in grandmaster traits is that it comes with X stat commitment, and thus limits your choices elsewhere)
Its not impossible, but it is something that would turn the entire game on its head, and there is no reason to believe it would actually improve the game in doing so.
what could go wrong with:
- giving us blank skins
- filling it up with x1 major attribute and x2 minor attributes ourselves?
yeah, maybe with time when everything else is patched and fixed, they’ll implement this along with a wardrobe so I can quick switch to another set of armor AND trait build :/. Heck, i’ll even pay the 3.8s to use this function per switch if that is what they’re worried about, their gold sink.
You can buy multiple training manual books for 10s for on the go retraining.
could also order them on trading post. cheaper.
i want freedom of stats allocation.
give us blank skins.
let us slot in the major and minor attributions ourselves.

1 vs 1 will work if we got fully customizable AI controlled team mates
This is a team game, not street fighter.
It is what we make it to be. There’s no set mold. For me, it’s a 1v1 game. When I go into sPvP, I go to maximize glory and win 1v1s. The team winning is less important than whether or not I was able to hold my own 1v1 vs all classes.
In tPvP I want to win the game more badly because I get an extra reward at the end. But team work is not really why I play.
So no – this is not a team game. It can be one for those who like teams and cooperation and that sort of thing. For the rest of us who like to go solo, that’s what it is.
And leaderboards and ranking only make sense in the context of a 1v1
well what happens when someone joins in on your 1 vs 1 fights?
but i mean, what could go wrong with more precise stats tweaks?
well banners are nice in PvE.
in PvE,
i used to be a healing shouts warior, then i became a regen banner warrior.
the recent banner buff made it better.
running away to heal up and then beat your opponent into a pulp is part of the game you know.
why sPvP dun have it?

i mean, how hard is it to make prefixes behave like sigils / runes that can be easily slapped onto any weapon / armor / trinkets.

no grind means there is a definitive way of obtaining gear

there should not be a cap on laurels, ever.
i think the laurels from spvp is to encourage more casual hybrid wvw / pve / spvp players

If the SAB was only available for a week i could understand why people might want to delete/create to gain BB.
BUT SAB is available for a month. . .
.. . . . . . . . . So thats (min) 5 character(slots) x 30 days = 150 “runs”, min 6 BB per run = 900 BB in the month. . Thats the equivalent to 18 skins OR 900 Shards- Surely thats enough WITHOUT resorting to “working around” the DEVS restrictions.
Also Josh has said that the BB should have awarded per the work done per zone (SO he’s not entirely happy about speed farming (Thats how i interpreted his post)),
well for me, i have 8 characters and 1 free character slot.
i know i can do 8 times on 8 on my characters but i like to spread them around the world. i.e. i hate paying waypoint fees.
but then again so far i have only created and deleted 7 characters so far. stopped after that.

1.) If Obby Shards are hard to get due to the fact that they cost 4.2k Karma, why can you buy them so easily from Moto? (isn’t that EXTREMELY generous from ANet?)
2.) I can get 42.000 Karma in 10 SEConds. How? I rapidly double click my Jugs of Liquid karma…

a friend of mine (also fellow guild member) had her account wrongly terminated.
she said her account was permanently banned for botting.
she did not bot.
there must be some mistake.

3 days before official launch of Guild Wars 2,
I founded the guild and made 10 custom ranks, the max.
The 10 custom ranks are:
Founder – 1 member, me!
Generals – 2 members, the 2nd and 3rd command of the guild
Commanders – Officers with commander icon. 4 members.
Majors – Officers without commander icon. at least 3 active members
Lieutenants – even more senior members
Sergeants – more senior members
Corporals – senior members
Privates – not so new members
Shock Troopers – new members
M I A – inactive, nonrepresenting, different server, not talking etc.
P/S: Shock Troopers was originally called Rookies, then one of my officers wanted more fodders for WvW so we renamed this rank.
anyway, the problem is with the top 2 ranks besides Founder (guild leader)
I wanted Generals to rank higher than Commanders but somehow Commanders would always rise back up to be higher than Generals.
I tried switching both of them by changing the names, icons and shoving the members around but the problem is still there.

i think the moto pricing for some items will be changed,

I clear my sPvP monthly every month.
I clear my PvE daily everyday.
I clear my PvE monthly every month.
I WvW with guild members on weekends or on the start of the month to clear 50/50 WvW.
yeah i’m a casual PvE / sPvP / WvW gw2 player.
The only way I can see them ‘fixing’ this is account-binding the puzzle. which would ruin the replay value of the event all together. If people want to farm, then they should be allowed to.

I wouldn’t see why not. You put the same amount of time and effort into it, as if you would do it daily with only 1 character. The only difference is that you get your skins faster than as if you were to do it daily. If this was not allowed, they would make baubles soulbound & unable to put in the bank.
I already got 2 skins myself, and the box only has been out a couple days.

This is no more an exploit than the BL key farming that was approved by an ANet representative the other month. I wouldn’t worry yourself with it; the moderator was likely acting because they thought it was an exploit posting and didn’t give the thread any real review.
