Map is quite balance you say….and open spaces …where are this open spaces?
Entire south side of the map. On top of fire keep. The oasis. The NW and NE region. I suggest you actually play on the map.
and if people will stop playing pve…did you ask youre self why they playing pve, maybe because they hate new bordelands or they are queued to EB?
They are playing pve because they are unlocking their elite specializations, unlocking their guild hall, playing through the HoT story, playing the Halloween content. Once they get done with that they’ll be back in WvW. Those who chose WvW over all of that congregated in EB during the 1st week.
Not true, FSP has a large hardcore wvw population and it’s dead this week.
After playing it quite a bit, I give it a 8/10.
Map is great. Good balance between open spaces and more closed spaces.
Love that towers are larger, makes for much greater fights.
I like the shrine stuff. The stealth, the no fall damage.
The auto upgrades is good, though I’m sure people who used to enjoy upgrading things are upset. They don’t realize that yaks getting into the keep will cut down the upgrade time significantly. Small groups also have greater incentive to go yak slapping for this same reason.
Finally fortified gates and lords that don’t melt in seconds against blobs. More time for defenders to respond.
However, I feel that the keeps are too large and impossible to properly scout and siege up.
Shield generators are really really strong, and too many can be placed in an area. Cap needs to be lowered for them.
Is the constantly reapplying cripple around the earth keep intentionally supposed to screw with condi clears? If not, it needs to be fixed.
Now if people can stop playing pve and come to wvw, that would be great.

It does not count. I can’t explain that situation any other way, but that’s the answer we’ve gotten before. Must be some other quirk in the system.

You won’t stay full forever. When they do the next calculation, BB might open up. In the mean time, I’d slow down on the ppt.
It’s confusing to me how a server with a massive wvw population, round the clock ppt dominance and is 1st place at the moment is not full while a server like Gandara which is in 8th place and has little to no coverage has been locked out.
Only thing I can think of that could cause this is EotM as Gandara has a huge pve population.
Maps are kinda empty because people are busy playing through the rest of HoT and getting their elite specs.
It will also take some time for people to figure out the map so I wouldn’t pay too much attention to those who jump to conclusions.

Regarding pve, the mastery/hero point system is a mess. I can get mastery points but can’t spend them without first getting a certain amount of xp?? This is just a glorified level cap increase. I thought the point of the mastery system was to be horizontal progression beyond lvl80? Forcing us to level up more is vertical progression. And you block hero points behind masteries, forcing those of us who don’t care about masteries to do meaningless grinds. Just trying to find where the hero points are on these labyrinthine maps is hard enough and what’s worse is going through the trouble of getting to a hero point and finding out we can’t do it because we don’t have a certain mastery so we gotta go back to grinding. Or the hero point is a champ. Do you really think these maps are going to be bustling with people forever?
Elite specs is a big selling point of this expansion but by the time we go through the headache of trying to get it, we’ve already completed the majority of the open world content. And before we even can get our elite spec, we have to complete all the masteries which have nothing to do with elite specs. Worst of all, this is per character. I’m sorry but one play through of Verdant Brink is more than enough for me.
Regarding WvW, getting 400 hero points is excruciatingly slow. The notion that I would essentially have to rank up 100-200 times to unlock the elite specialization for just one of my many characters is just silly. It’s going to take weeks to months to get it for just one character.

Lol these T1 servers are not gonna be able to game the system. It’s a combination of rank, population and ppt that determines a server’s status.
If SFR and Kodash, both of which have lost multiple guilds recently, can’t drop out of being full, what makes these T1 servers think that “playing dead” will work? PPT still happens even if they aren’t in WvW.
- WvW’s reset time will be changed to be 24 hours later in NA and EU. It will now occur on Saturdays instead of Fridays.
Please explain the reasoning behind this change.
Server status is now locked. Full servers don’t drop down to Very High unless the WvW activity on the server drops over a long period of time.
You don’t need servers to play with your friends in PvE and sPvP.
I guess I don’t have a choice do I. I have to miss out on a major part of the game that I was looking forward to. Well thanks for the help anyway.
You don’t miss out on anything. No matter what server you pick, you can still play wvw. If your friends aren’t willing to leave their full server to join you on another server, that doesn’t mean you won’t have people to wvw with. Make new friends on your server. Get in touch with guilds on the server you choose.

Small groups can move as quickly, they can’t however have as bigger impact on the game mode when they do reach their destination. A group of 5 is hardly capable of flipping a Keep quickly in comparison to a large one. By introducing a larger map size with multiple layers, large groups of players will have to split into smaller ones to be effective (instead of being a blob of 20, they might have to be two blobs of 10 or fewer). The impact being positive for the game mode as it’ll reduce zerging, encourage smaller fights and mean that Keep defence or capture is much different than it is now.
What is your WvW rank? I’m interested to know.

Stop being asinine. Some people don’t work from 9 to 5. Some people don’t work 5 days a week. Some people don’t work at all. Some people are students.

People stack servers that are active. It’s not their fault anet refuses to accept that game populations always decline over time and servers need to be closed.

Getting hate pm’s is a good thing. It means you’re doing something right.
You know there’s an LFG tool ingame to find groups to do dungeons, right? It takes just two clicks to find and join a group.
A better solution is if all guilds on your server got good and then it doesn’t matter what map which guild goes to. Many servers have already adopted this policy.

This is what Anet propose to people that ask for an HoT upgrade when they bought GW2 before the FAQ ninja update.
Wow that is pretty pathetic of Anet.
1)Say that the core game is required to play the expansion
2)New players buy core game in preparation for HoT
3)Anet announces pre-purchase and adds core game in for free, meaning those new players have just wasted money buying the core game
4)Anet ninja changes the faq, but doesn’t change the part of the faq about the price(suspicious)
5)Now new players who bought the core game before are forced to lose all the progress they have made, gems they’ve purchased, and the link they made to their gw1 account if they wanna play HoT

It’s not JUST the $50… It’s $50 for the Expansion (without an additional character slot) and it includes the Core Game.
Thats the problem…. We already have the core game, we feel like we’re buying it twice and not getting anything to show for it.

You already know that one of Anet’s biggest policies for GW2 is to encourage group play.
You also know that people are allowed to play the way they want to. Whether that’s solo roaming or running in a blob. Anet is indifferent to both.

I will definitely check out EU! Where would EU players suggest that I visit first? Also, remember I am a little lowbie so that I can move this account around without killing myself in gems.
I’d start with the lower tiers. Vabbi would be a good place to start. Talk to the guys in PIST who recently moved there from SFR. I’m sure their experience being in the #1 server and now in the bronze league would provide a lot of great feedback.

Some big guild could make a project of that server. Its existing players have tons of heart and do a boatload with very little. Quite the scrappy crew.
You know if any guild were to actually come it would only be to recruit your players and then transfer back to a higher tier.
Any rebuilding will have to be done internally.
So exactly what would be the point in defending hills/bay on your home bl?
By tagging garrison, we’d have to run from citadel all the way to respond to an attack while our opponents now have a shortcut to it.

I understand why the hit timing was changed….. but was it really necessary to alter the weapon’s attack animation?
