So 20 days ago he still had the GvG CDI planned and didn’t know he’d be leaving? Interesting….
Hardy is pretty nice and all. But hardly unreplaceable.
Yeah there are plenty of commanders just like him. /sarcasm
A commander is only as good as the group following him.
Yeah but good players only follow certain commanders.
I vote for Hardy because loudest screamer EU is pretty legendary.
If all you do is die and walk then you are doing something wrong. You need to find out what that is and do something to fix it.
I would also ask what they should put in the gem store instead of this outfit, in order to make up for lost revenue.
Templates.
You subjective views on transfer costs do not matter. If you want something you have to buck up and pay the cost, whether you like it or not. If you are not willing to pay that amount, that is your problem and no one else’s. Just like real life.
Server transfer costs only change when two things happen. 1)A wvw tournament. 2)A free trial weekend.
During a WvW tournament, anet manually adjusts transfer cost depending on a server’s rank in WvW.
During a free trial event, anet increases server caps across the board which results in several servers dropping to “High” or “Medium” population.
We don’t know when either of those will happen next.
Big fat queues for SFR, Deso and FSP. Moderate queues for JS and Kodash. Not much for Gandara.
1. Matchup variety. If t1-3 could mix together somewhat like EU does atm, there’d be a lot of different servers/playstyles/guilds to fight.
Then you’d get people complaining about imbalanced matchups. You also neglect to consider that there are people and guilds that want to face certain opponents consistently because they provide the best fights to them.
2. Tier 3 won’t be a complete mess.
You don’t know that. Coverage is still a factor.
3. More guilds overall to fight. Once current t3 servers can pop into t2, and t2 can pop into kitten will basically be able to fight all the best guilds from all around, t3 will get to learn to get gud by consistently fighting t2 servers, and t1 will get to ppt against new people. lol
You mean less guilds to fight? The less guilds on a server the less guilds to fight. logic. 2 guilds spread across 24 servers or 8 guilds across 6 servers. Which gets more fights? This game doesn’t have enough wvw guilds left to spread across servers. Get over it.
4. It could remove the full population from certain servers, making it possible to actually patch up coverage holes with transfers if the need arises.
You know full well server population has nothing to do with wvw population. Anet has made transfer to servers free and even that never patched up any coverage holes. Let’s be realistic here.
5. It’ll make the mobility between tiers not so screwed up like it is now. If a server wants to get into t2, it won’t have to beat on tier 3 servers for ages to drain glicko. Whenever that sorta thing happens, like it’s happening in t3 and t6 right now, it’s damaging to the game’s population.
Again, you don’t know that. 2 years ago when populations were more spread it took forever to move up tiers. Remember Sorrow’s Furnace being stuck in t8? The immobility between tiers for NA has a lot more to do with the seasons creating artificial barriers by isolating the servers within their leagues. Also T1 is being match manipulated.
The isolation between leagues doesn’t happen in EU thanks to Baruch Bay tanking their rating after each tournament.
Get rid of the aoe cap. Make it so that small skilled and organized groups can take down a “zerg” without having to blob up themselves.
Get rid of aoe cap -> goodbye cpu.
get rid of aoe cap -> hello retaliation.
Not gonna happen. Ever.
A small skilled group can already take out zergs with the current system. Why do you think guilds run with their melee all stacked up? Just for boon sharing and condi clears? No. They also do it so that all their melee hit the same 5 targets.
Can someone please give me a concise list, not some wall of text which this thread is overflowing with, on why they think destacking is a good thing?
Everyone is allowed to enjoy the game the way they want to. So obviously the majority of players enjoy playing in an active environment where they can get fights in rapid succession.
The general trend for 2+ years has been to transfer to higher tiers. The only time that there has been mass transfers to lower tiers was during the Kaineng bandwagon and the HoD bandwagon. Those were free transfers. They were also both disastrous.
Yup. They tried to do that with RoS and then with Blacktide too but all the guilds left and transferred back up eventually. And those servers were left drained off all recruitment potential and even native guilds followed suit and transferred off. So anyone suggesting guilds from high tier servers transfer down to theirs does not realize how much harm will happen to their server. I can guarantee that if the Kaineng bandwagon never happened, Kaineng would be a much higher tiered server now.
Bandwagoning, whether down or up, is always bad. You can’t make the jump from “these instances of destacking are bad, therefore all are bad/are probably bad”. That leap cannot be made. We have bad examples of destacking, because they were done in bad ways. Then again, what about all the servers that have risen out of bronze to silver successfully? Why are you ignoring those (Dh/IoJ/HoD/EBay/NSP)? Also, kaineng was rank 24 server until an initiative to stack it that was pretty popular on the forums back near launch. I have no idea why you think Kaineng would be higher than they are if the bandwagon hadn’t happened, they were dead last lol.
Most of those servers rose up because others around it died/imploded and I’m pretty sure attrition had something to do with it.

Good luck getting people to destack. Never going to happen. It’s like asking guilds to go have less fights. No thanks.
The real kicker:
They’re so serious about communication, they have someone else do it for them.
It’s like a comedy club on this forum.
But, the jokes are all overused.
Actually Marmatt cannot communicate to us in an official manner. Essentially what they’ve done is given themselves a good excuse to not communicate ever again. I’m guessing many WvW players laughed when they read this:
We are serious about communication, but there appear to be a lot of people who would rather complain about communication than actually attempt to communicate.
We already communicated, almost two years ago. Anet failed to reciprocate. All that’s left for us to do is complain. And a new map isn’t going to fix anything.
You don’t have to be on the same server to play together.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-megaserver-system/*Unless they want to play WvW together. Then they have to be on the same server.
Not necessarily :p
You can be on opposing servers and still play together.
You don’t have to be on the same server to play together.

GW2 made 17 million usd in Q4 2014. Is that a lot or a little?
While I was going to say peoples issues are more with anet and their selection method, not Marmett himself, and as such we should give the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes… I then came across this amazing post in his post history:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Confessions/page/5#post4527098
I’m sorry. Not someone that should ever have been picked as a “specialist” to represent the community to the devs.
So basically we’re being represented by some casual pug from some low tier server who has barely played any WvW.
I once spoke to a lead from a certain department. I will not say who and when. But he said during their meetings, GvG has been brought up on multiple meetings with the leads from each department and is backed by Devon.
What type of GvG? Be more specific. GW1 gvg? Stronghold gvg? WvW gvg?
The BvB that people have started calling GvG is not actual GvG.
GvG is the mode that was available in GW1. Something that they are giving us a more advanced version of with HoT.
I wouldn’t be so quick to call it an advanced version.
What exactly are you analyzing? The thing about EU is that the servers all the way down to Drakkar Lake which is 11th can all put up a good fight against each other during prime time.
My top 9 would be:
1)SFR
2)Deso
3)KD
4)FSP
5)JS
6)Gand
7)BB
8)RS
9)AR
10 and 11 would go to Piken Square and Drakkar Lake respectively.
For your second question are you asking about the server with the lowest coverage or the server with the lowest prime time numbers or the server with the lowest population on the server selection list?
For coverage, answer is pretty self explanatory. For prime time I’d say Riverside has the smallest prime time force but they get bumped up because of their huge morning zergs. Baruch Bay’s biggest advantage is that prime time in Spain starts when prime time is ending for the other countries. Baruch Bay often has upswings and downswings and are currently in an upswing so who knows how long until they start tumbling down the ranks again.
For overall server population, the first server in this list that would go full is Deso followed by BB. Then it’ll most likely go Gand → SFR → RS → FSP → JS → KD → AR.
WOW! I can’t believe no one ever suggested this before!!!!
Have you heard of chained mesmer portals? Golem can pop from spawn to your keep in 10 seconds. I have done many such attacks. The defenders don’t have time to prepare siege or rally when you do that.
You can’t go from spawn to keep in one portal. It would take more than 3 portals and the golems would have to do some walking in between. Plenty of time to spot them.
And oil reflect or any other skills that absorb/reflect stuff. Thing is, unless the golem driver is very dumb, he will not continue to shoot if he’s inside a mesmer feedback field or if he sees a wall of reflection on the gate.
A golem that’s not attacking sounds like a good thing to me.
Screenshots?
ACs : There is not a single spot where you can place them that will hit every place an omega can “hide” while attacking the gate AND that can’t be destroyed by the omega (unless you are using zoom hack). Couple with the fact that arrow carts only tickle the omegas, it might very well be one of the most useless siege against omega rushes to protect the gate.
Ballista : Very hard to find a spot where it can hit the omegas AND cannot be instantly destroyed by all the players doing the golem rush. Few notable exceptions are some of the keep where you can place them above the dome. Still omegas can find spot to hide from it and the enemy zerg can kill them with their own ballista.
Trebuchet/Mortar : Very hard to hit every spots in front of the gate with it. Omega can easily find a place to hide from those shots.
You build them high and you build them far. For ac’s you build them behind obstacles where it cannot be targeted. It’s really not my problem if you don’t know the spots.
Life isn’t meant to be fair. If you are not enjoying the WvW on your server, either you pay and transfer or suffer the consequences of not doing so. Anet is unlikely to do anything about “dead” servers for a very long time, especially with an expansion on the way.
Counters to omega golems:
1)Forward scouting. Catch them before they get to your keep/tower. This gives defenders more time to get ready on the siege or for your zerg to come wipe them in open field.
2)Mesmers dropping feedback on the golems
3)Guardians dropping wall of reflection in front of the gate. You can even drop it from behind the gate and it’ll still work if I remember correctly.
4)Proper siege placement. Trebs, acs and ballistas. If you build them in the right spots, they can’t be taken out by golems.
5)Siege Disablers
Anet should make transferring to lower-tier servers than the server your’e currently on free, while transferring to higher-tier servers should be twice as expensive as it is now. That would be a good start I think.
You didn’t stop to think about how your proposal could be easily manipulated by the servers?
First tier problems….good idea if it affects you I guess. Heck, they made an entire awesome map for you guys, they might as well add this.
Don’t be ignorant. This would benefit several tiers in EU.
Rank 2 and 3 are T1, though.
Desolation
15 chars
There are also three other maps each with three exits.
Pretty sure Gandara and FSP is doing that. Everyone double teams SFR.
If only Kodash were as smart
You ask this as if the answer is clear cut. It always depends on the situation.
Hard to be excited with the expansion when there’s so little they’re adding. Factions itself added a whole new continent with 20+ new maps, a full narrative, 3 new pvp game modes, 2 new professions, 2 new elite zones, new armors, new skills, new weapons, new titles, 4 new guild halls and more that I haven’t though off. And they made all of this in 1 year with less than half of the number of employees they currently have.
Gotta say, pretty disappointing.
Much better to just base it on current wvw rankings.
This can also be gamed.
Tying population to weekly WvW activity will almost certainly lead to abuse of the system.
The tendrils would be part of the mursaat themselves, not the armor.
So are you agreeing that they are mursaat or not mursaat? Because the beings in the trailer had tendrils. Also there was a part in the trailer where it casts some sort of spell and enchanted armors were never spell casters if I remember correctly.
The question is which of the 4 T2 servers has the least coverage? The answer is the one that will eventually fall and stay in T3 when the next tournament rolls around.
So…those are supposed to be Mursaat??
Pure player speculation.
Personally, I’m not so sure they’re mursaat. Why do I say this?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:War_Beast.jpg
The “skin” for these so-called mursaat is the same as the golden glow on the war beasts. War beasts are basically powerful rock dogs – which are canine-shaped earth elementals. This is how rock dogs would likely look in GW1. And this was their more powerful version.
Note that, in GW1, for what’s effectively rock dogs (then called stonewolves) and war beasts (then called Shard Wolves ) – the latter had no golden glow. It was transparent.
Now, what was armor and no body (aka transparent body)? That’s right Enchanted Armors
And what was gold that they looked like? That’s right, Mursaat armor. (the enchanted armors are basically tarnished, spikier versions of mursaat armor – toes and general shape of gloves, boots, and helm are effectively the same).
So I think these things are enchanted armor, polished or made out of the mursaat’s armor. The golden glow translated to GW1 would be transparent – invisible.
Except enchanted armors don’t levitate or have tendrils coming out of their back and were never golden. Anet just gave the mursaat a redesign.
The gw1 subreddit has a lot of guides and links to help you through the game
http://youtu.be/zkM93pwvWDM
http://vimeo.com/28875923Posting some more vids, though non-gw1 players might not know whats goin on
That QQ vs EW gvg was kittening amazing.
Obviously what we have are two different groups of players who want two different styles of gvg.
You got the ones that want something more akin to gw1 gvg with equal emphasis on individual skill and team play.
And the ones that have gotten used to the 15v/20v gvg where individual skill only matters for the pick team.
Sorry but Anet went with the better one. Not to mention that a 15v/20v is destined to fail in the long term.
Hey Devon, will the new WvW updates be actually based on player feedback? On all the past CDIs, discussions and suggestions?
They’re making defense (i.e. siege and scouting) more important. What do you think………………………….
……………………….
defense becoming more important.
Clearly something people wanted more of……
I also distinctly remember from Devon’s blog post that capping something should be more important than holding it. Guess coverage is gonna be more important now then.
I’m coming over to NA t1 this Sunday. Play EU time zone and been leading blobs on EU T1 since release. What t1 server has good EU coverage but a lack of commanders?
Aslong as people join VoIP, should be fun
I feel sorry for whatever server has to put up with your raging that you don’t have 80 on tag.
Ummm the win trading (or match manipulation) is legit……
Mounts
EU or NA?
For EU: any server in the top 3 tiers (#1-9) which you can find here : http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups/
You would be aiding in the death and staleness of WvW if you transfer to the #1 ranked server. The other servers are just as active and have just as much if not more guilds.
For NA: It seems all servers #7 and below are essentially casual wvw servers now. #1-6 are the active wvw servers.
Pretty sure they spent one week in T1 and that was it.
No they did not. Check mos if you don’t believe it.
