Do you honestly think punishing a server for something they cannot control is a good idea?

Pretty sure that as long as there’s no trademark or copyright violation, Anet can do whatever the hell they want. Freedom of expression dictates so.

They removed the orbs because it:

1)Heavily favoured the more populated server
2)Incredibly vulnerable to flyhacks

Personally I feel posters need to stop blaming the devs for avoiding the community, and start blaming the community and the fact that it makes threads like the one I linked.

Had the devs actively communicated with us and actually cared about the WvW game mode, this sub forum would have never become this toxic.

Why not just make a single folder called “Archive” and then move all the archived forums into that?

The problem is when they move threads like that as they did with the recent forum reconstruction search engines end up with a bunch of broken links. I have run across this many times since the recent forum update where I Google a topic and find a link that leads to the image below. When you click the Google link it just redirects to the front page of the forum with an error message. I see this a lot with threads that used to be in the Account Support forum and the Mac Support Forum.

In time I guess search engines will catch up, I even suggested to Anet they submit a new sitemap to Google since the forum was rearranged. However, it still causes a problem.

All you have to do is edit the address bar to reflect the new forum setup. Although the search engines seems to be catching up with the changes.

What if there was a thread about a particular topic that I want to see to confirm somethings? What if I want to find an old dev post to use as a reference? What if I want to read through older threads to jog my memory? What if I just wanna reminisce?

Are you kidding? Piken Square is a T3 server filled with many guilds. The guilds run tagless so you will need to join them if you want to run with them.

How long ago did this happen? Because a bug was fixed yesterday where players could use Orphan Laine’s Letter to become invincible in wvw/pvp. The dev/gm could have been testing to confirm it.

I don’t remember anyone from sup with your name. Who exactly were you in gw1? And who from sup/cry are playing?

Why are you being rude? I simply posed a couple of thoughts and you are telling me to do more research. If you don’t want to post anything helpful, then it would be best not to say anything at all.

I wouldn’t call it being rude. He is just pointing out that had you done some research, you “thoughts” would be very different.

Firstly, influence can be earned by completing events. WvW is filled with an incredible amount of events. Defense/offense events around any wvw objective restart instantly when it is contested. So your statement that most influence is gained from pve is not completely true.

Secondly, there are sooooo many ways to find a WvW guild and nearly every server has their own server forum. If you had looked, you’d see that there is a “Looking For” sub forum down below where guilds/servers/players post recruitment ads and there is a sticky with links to all server websites. Most guilds will post recruitment ads on their server websites as well.

It’s all about getting involved with WvW (which includes getting on ts!) which will provide you the best experience. If you want to play with your guildies, you have to play on the same server as them. If that is a problem for you then you’re outta luck. Either get them to transfer to your server or you transfer to theirs.

Also, most players who have played WvW for a long time know that if WvW becomes megaserver’d, it would die. Server communities are a big reason many people still play this game and to take that away would be devastating for anet’s pockets.

Raids – will come with an expansion
Guild Halls – who knows, probably with an expansion as well
Duels – we already have it, it’s called Custom Arenas

It’s just fun. One of the best scenes I have viewed in GW2 recently was a sunset fight at Ogrewatch between TC and JQ, who was in OL. I showed up late, ran from SMC and watched TC just take down the T3 gate and run in. JQ came around the corner right behind them in the gate, and I thought, oh no, they outnumber.

But instead of running up to the lords room, our commander ran up the stairs and jumped off the wall onto JQ’s butt. Totally confused them, think their driver must have gone down or something.

Great show.

This happens in all tiers. NA and EU.

Your best bet is to report those things using the ingame bug report system.

It’s a legit tactic with an easy counter. Stealth before engage will clear all targets on you. Not running a mile ahead of your group also helps. Make sure your melee leaps at the same time as you.

It spans several tiers in EU. You’ll find plenty of good fights from kitten T4. If you’d like some variety I think a T2 server would be your best bet (FSP or Gandara).

If server mergers happen I’d say the bottom 9 NA servers and the bottom 12 EU servers should be merged. For EU there is still a lot of life left in the servers down till #15 (Aurora Glade).

For the players who have walked away from their computers, or for players who simply forgot they were in queue and no longer want to play, the ready check finds and replaces them before the match even starts.”

How many times have you been in queue for a WvW map and then missed it when it popped because you had the game minimized or were away?
Our position in queue doesn’t really help us know how long our wait will actually be because a 20 man queue could move through in seconds, minutes or even hours.

Wouldn’t this feature be great to have for WvW too?

Anet’s income from WvW pretty much relies on them not doing anything to make it better because if they did, people would transfer less.

Because game has nothing to do with Guild and Wars any more.. Concept is lost in my eyes until we get what game was meant for.

While I wouldnt mind the gw1 format coming back, As I thoroughly enjoyed it and would again, I think there should be a balance or both the Gw1 and Gw2 Format, As I currently Enjoy the Gw2 format the players have made as well.

A fight at the flag stand = gw2 gvg
So yes, there would be a balance of both but add in more depth that comes with flag running and guild halls.

Is it now against the code of conduct to be AFK? I accidentally left my character AFK in the new area the other night after my computer suddenly rebooted for updates…I spent a very nervous twenty minutes prior to being able to log back in worried I might be suspended again….I was told I was given “one time leniency” after my suspension…and know for a fact that I had done nothing more than being AFK in drytop….is it just being AFK in drytop that was the issue? I don’t know what I can and cannot do anymore since it doesn’t talk about being AFK in the code of conduct or the user agreement. I do love the game, and have bought a lot of gems, but now it makes me not want to buy anymore gems if I could be banned for my next offense….when I did nothing more than be AFK.

It is not now against the code of conduct, it has always been against the code of conduct. You repeatedly claim to “just” have been afk and having done “nothing more than” being afk while this is not true. You had your healing skill on auto combined with a position which granted you an ingame benefit from standing there and healing yourself.

Also it obviously has not been only a few minutes but extended periods of time which brings us to the point where you are getting punished. The term ArenaNet uses for this is “extended unattended gameplay”.

The amount of gems you bought or will buy does not matter. Also why would you be afraid of “getting banned for the next offense”? Do you plan to do this again? Just don’t put your heal on auto and don’t stand around gaining benefits when you “go afk” and you won’t have a problem (just like everyone else who happens to not get banned for being afk).

PS: Your character will not keep standing around in the game after your PC crashed and the game is not running. The character disappears from the game within a minute, which is clearly not an “extended period of time” and therefore this is not an issue.

I’ve read the “rules of conduct” as well as the “User agreement”. It does not mention “Unattended extended gameplay” Could you please link were you found that? It does mention botting and using of third part programs…but nothing about AFK even for extended periods of time. And what is extended? I was standing during the non-dust storm events and then doing the dust storm events (so 45 minutes of AFK)? Is that “extended?” Where is this defined? I had recieved a phone call last night while standing in Silverwastes, I walked away from my computer for about 30 minutes…is that “extended” I was working with 3 other commanders and had my tag on for the red fort so people would gather there. We were all taking a break anyways…was that now a bannable offense? I recieved 2 chests during that time (I don’t know how, I was on my guardian at the time…which doesn’t have a pet…I expected to time-out…but didn’t for some reason)…should I have been banned for that?…because that was my first thought when I came back to my computer “ooh crap, I left my character AFK! I could have been banned for life!”

I honestly just want a straight answer? Is it being AFK for hours? what is the metric? Or should I be afraid every time I accidentally leave myself logged in these days? Because honestly, since I have never cheated on a game or used any 3rd party program, I never used to worry about this before…or with any other game prior to this….now I do…and it has greatly decreased my enjoyment of the game.

I have never, ever been suspended from any game in the past for just playing the game (whether AFK or not)….no 3rd party programs, no botting, nothing but the game itself and in-game abilities. (you mention putting your healing skill on auto as being a bad thing….then why is it an in-game ability you can turn on?)

Did you forget to read the part of the rules that basically states that anet reserves the right to ban/suspend your account for any reason they choose?
You were obviously doing something shady since I’ve afk’d and never been banned. Also, is it really so hard to just go to your character select when you wanna afk? You get re-logged back to the exact same spot…..

It’s stopped bandwagoners looking for easy wins to consider our server and made the other two servers attractive for guilds looking for fights. Not that you’d know anything about what goes on on T1 NA from your EU server

Like I said it doesn’t work because even if all guilds on SFR took the week off it would still win through its massive pug population that does most of the pvdoor’ing. Not that you’d know anything about what goes on on T1 EU from your NA server.

Just improve your peripheral vision.

You are more than welcome to play those other games then. Nothing is stopping you from playing more than one game. If you need your daily fix of mounts, go get them, but gw2 doesn’t need them. There are dozens of other things this game needs more.
