thanks for the advice, it seems as though ill stick to my current runes then but its atleast good to know that they can have a use if i ever feel the need for them.
i have a question mesmer forums, would you guys recommend lyssa runes for a Dmg mesmer in wvw? and if so what builds would benefit most from it?
(edited by Deth.4109)
i took alot more but my point has been made and really it just kinda shows armor and charr just dont mix.
May you provide some screenshots, am curious.
sure thing give me a sec
1)Lets make this known right away, for heavy armor charr the grenth hood Clips badly with armor and by that i mean almost all shoulders and chest pieces please fix this before it becomes obtainable.
2) Charr need an anatomy fix and or special attention when it comes to gear because the slouched posture ruins so many armors that might look great if charr stood tall.
if you ever bought Cultural armor to be “exclusive” ive got a news flash for you, EVERY member of your race has it. There is not a moment when i am in lions arch and im not staring down one charr or norn heavy armor guy wearing the same armor as every other one with in a few meters of the others, human cultural T3 became so generic when i saw it i was way past not impressed any more.
Again, I bought human light T3 cultural armor precisely because it was exclusive to humans. Seeing hundreds of other humans wearing the same armor didn’t bother me in the slightest, but now seeing scores of non-humans parading around in it is infuriating, because humans don’t get to wear their T3 light armor sets.
yeah you do, i dont recall the patch removing your armor from you and leaving you naked, Besides its obvious this armor was popular enough that people would pay for a re skinned version and if this means the end of such a stupid concept as raced locked armors im all for it.

9/10 – I actually like the Thaumanova reactor fractal despite all the Scarlet hate. Last boss was pretty fun.
thats mainly why i gave it a six taumanova anomaly is just a total Bad a.
The Ley Line Theory would actually make alot of sense, since, as they were just mentioned in the Fractal, coincidentally, all those “Do Not Touch” Devices just happened to pop up all over Tyria, potentially placed at such “knot points” like the one the Thaumanova Reactor was apparently located at, atleast thats what i have gathered from what you posted.
Haha! I’ve been thinking this! But I did not want to “reach” in my post without any solid ground. These devices could be litterally anything.
My wild guess with no grounds to them what so ever:
The devices look like some kind of Aetherblade technology to me, already bringing Scarlet into the equation there. Their exact function is anyones guess, but they are found everywhere in the world on seemingly random locations. They don’t appear to be tactical or follow obvious patterns at all.
Assuming that the ley line theory is somewhat correct, and the DO NOT TOUCH devices are in fact tied into this plot, it could explain the locations, but I still have no reasonable idea as to what Scarlet is trying to achieve with them.
It could be anything from tracking/mapping the ley line pattern to trying to disrupt them, causing havoc to the Magic of Tyria somehow.
But even if the devices are tied into the ley line theory, why now? The Reactor meltdown happened more than a year ago. (It was “recent” according to Wiki).
There would have to be some piece in the puzzle she did not have yet. Aetherblade technology could be one factor, but that still does not account for what she has been doing the last few months.
Guess we will have to wait on the Living Story for that one
Oh and the DO NOT TOUCH devices could just as well be a new global clean-up machine, ending littering as we know it.
she could be trying to tame the dragons and there powers, just like what the inquest did with subject alpha. If she controlled the flow of magic around tyria she could in a sense magic starve the Elder dragons and control them.
Hasnt the reactor released alot of chaos energy?
Oh im calling it now, scarlet blew up the reactor to release these magical energy to trigger the dragons to wake up. Which will then tie her into the events of pre-Scarlet aswell. And we can then truely say “Scarlet did it, scarlet did everything”.
The Dragons (most of them at least) woke up long before the explosion.
That might be part of the issue, but it doesn’t address the fact that there is no pacing in the story at all. It’s just “defeat the plan of the week, which appears entirely unrelated to the previous plan of the week, Scarlet runs away, the end.” If you want to have a “season arc” kind of plot, that’s fine, but it can be incidental in some episodes, and only indirectly addressed in others.
As I said, it MIGHT work if we were seeing more of it all at once.
See, this is the problem… we’re what… five, six months into this Living Story… and Arena.net is STILL in the setting up phase. There’s no resolution of a real conflict because… well… they don’t exist yet. We haven’t even started the play… they’re still putting the stage together.
They very could have this amazing way to tie it all together that will blow your mind… but how many people are willing to wait 2 some odd years to reach that point at the rate this is going?
i knoww the LS is like being stuck in traffic, ITS SO SLOOOOOWWWWWW.
This entire thread is proof positive that people want to be raging mad about anything and everything…
Must be the cool thing to be on the internet these days…It’s an armor skin. One that if you don’t like you don’t have to buy. It doesn’t magically devalue the original at all.
Sure, anyone on any race can wear it (as long as they are light armor) so long as you don’t mind looking like a walking torch.
If a fire motif isn’t your thing though, and you want that armor, then guess what? You still have to be a female human light armor wearer and have the gold to spend. The differences are obvious and nobody is going to mistake someone who bought their t3 human cultural light armor with someone who bought the skin off of the gem store.
Actually that’s exactly what it does. Devalue the time and effort people put into getting their t3 armor.
And breaks the lore behind cultural armor into tiny little pieces, stomps it into fine dust, and then finally sweeps it up and throws away in the trash, as well.
what lore is there really behind the armor? quite frankly no armors in the game have any real lore they are sort of just there………….
Have you even seen the sylvari armor? Most of it is either morphed plantlife or grows directly out of their bodies. Charr armor is designed perfectly to fit a charr and is covered in cultural motifs. Same for asura. They got away with this because every non cultural armor is just human armor stretched to fit the other races.
ive seen it but lets get real for a second, what story or LORE is there behind any of those pieces? by your logic a glowing grass skirt is passable as slyvari cultural armor. to me lore based armor is a set or pieces directly tied to a certain character or story item like brhams armor or roxxes quiver.
Lore isn’t just specific stories. It’s things that define in game cultures as well. It’s why the sylvari all use plants as clothing, tools and architecture and why you hardly ever see any charr spellcasters.
i see plenty of random charr npcs doing all manner of odd things, hell the flame legion has plenty of spell casters.

Let’s take this to the extreme. Would it be totally okay if Anet decided to put a version of Twilight with a fiery hilt and put it in the gemstone for 1000gems? Because if I thought that the fiery hilt is silly, by your reasoning, even though they look similar, if I don’t like it and prefer the original twilight, I should shell out 3000g on the TP.
The point is that it undermines the hardwork of people have put into getting these armor (And I think it was even harder back at launch). Some people will just shrug it off, but a lot of here cares about that.
with out the aura or footfalls or even the functionality of a legendary is it even really twilight?

and no one should really care what other people wear or why.
6/10 a few to many bugs for something that was supposed to be a major update but it comes in over 5 for me because of the obsidian sanctum and new fractals as well as a few needed revamps.
korelg you are not thinking straight…seriously.
Cultural Armor is supposed to be UNIQUE to each race, why even have them in the first place if that is not the case?
Also people working hard to get an armor vs. buying it off the gem store, can you not even see the problem in that? … :|
The trend it seems is that most (if not all) armor sets are direct gem shop purchases. This game is supposed to have cosmetic horizontal progression yet all the cool stuff is on the gem store. How the hell are we supposed to “progress” then? We are being force fed with this Living Story crap too…and don’t start on “play for fun” with me, I WvW for fun, so there’s that.
Honestly the direction ArenaNet is going is bad. Really bad. With other AAA MMOs on the horizon like Wildstar and EverQuest Next, I wonder how GW2 will survive…
well I never liked the race-lock to begin with, but you do raise a valid pont here, this game started with a very lacking gem store, but now it is getting way too much in comparisson to what we get in game, Anet has added ZERO new sets of in-game armor, only a couple of helmets and back pieces (extremely lame back pieces)
yeah i agree with time the gem store has evolved into a bit of a monster and its becoming clear that the gem store is starting to suck the life out of the game and we need to say something about it and get our opinions heard before this game starts selling patches in the gem store…
Signed.Quit shoving this garbage into the lore, and kill her off already.
i agree but i think they can still fix this she just needs to go out in a blaze of glory.
Anet if you’re going to keep scarlet around please turn her into the evil she is supposed to be….make her ruthless and violent and a ture bad guy and then let us slay her and move on to the next dragon.
if you think the writers can’t come up with a better storyline than “scarlet did it” for the thaumanova reactor then i don’t think there’s any point in arguing with you. enjoy your fractal. :>
it wasn’t an argument they already had her jammed into the workings of this places lore long before we had the fractal……….its painfully obvious.
i saw this coming when the patch was announced.
And the thaumanova reactor can’t stand alone without scarlet? lol
she was trained by asura and already controlled the inquest of course not.
Can people stop deluding them selves into thinking they would have put scarlet into abbadon already?
Why not? They already put her everywhere. They’ll eventually reveal that she was the one behind Tequatl getting stronger too I bet.
because that piece of lore can stand alone with out scarlet at all, and besides we all knew that scarlet/aetherblades/inquest were all connected any way
Can people stop deluding them selves into thinking they would have put scarlet into abbadon already?
and before any one says anything i farmed in game for my T3 not by buying gems.
Cool, now you can wear it on your norn. But be warned: People will hate you for purchasing it.
Meh, i dont really feel bad about it.. i have two characters one in full char heavy t3 and the other in partial pieces, i want charr heavy T3 for a non charr as well because im curious as to what it would look like so i cant say im very angry about this.
I will be the first to shamelessly admit………ive wanted that armor for my norn for soooooooooo long and never wanted a human.
Quaggan + Grawl alliance.
Scarlet: I am your new god!
Quaggan + Grawl: Sounds legit.Logically, it could be the Sons of Svanir – we already had
- Flame legion (charr) + dredge
- Inquest (asura) + Aetherblades
- Watchwork (human-built machines) + steam creatures
- Nightmare court (sylvari) + krait
So the norn are sort of missing from the list…
The grawl are a logical choice, but unfortunately, they have proven already that they will ally with whoever, including the Sons of Svanir, without Scarlet’s influence… OR HAVE THEY
dun-dun-dunnnn
There are aetherblade norn…………………
they should have been a reward for the meta………………
Yeah lol, that’s ooooold school mmo thinking, getting great gear through time and effort.
old can be gold man
they should have been a reward for the meta………………
Hey guys i thought this was an interesting insight about one of my favorite LS characters who we have not seen much of lately done by wooden potatoes. You could consider this sort of like Braham’s origin story and i think its well beyond worth a watch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTtdVr0a5dg also apparently Braham’s father is a bearskin Norn >.> that’s pretty awesome.
hmmm true im going to go and try a few weapons to see which ones can stack more bleeds and burns faster, staff does seem to lack reliable bleeds.
Hey there Elementalist, i mained and ele at launch and deleted it in December because of how poorly they were doing and being fed up however i’m here to ask that since the buff to staff has been made is it possible for an ele to roll a viable staff condi build? i don’t want hyperbole for answers please i would really like a well thought out response from some one who has tried it at the very least and has got a lot of ele pvp experience and knows the class in and out.
thanks lol……..also im trying to delete this topic as a guild memeber was able to help me figure out some issues ingame so ignore this until a moderator deletes it
hey guys im running a full set of rabid armor with zerker trinkets and weapons, are there any good WVW builds you could recommend for this set up that can do solid damage while also make use of my condition gear?
New permanent dungeon!
PRETTY PLEASE WITH A KITTEN ON TOP
YES PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE !!! ILL BUY MORE GEMS for permanent new content.
Without giving anything away, I will say that the Kessex Hills you’ll see in November (and December, and next year…) is not the same as the one we had last week.
thank you for your response im hopeful this mean that the living story really can deliver expansion level changes in the game.
^ that was well put and a very good analysis of how the game seems to be being developed right now and its unfortunate.
molten facility was on of my favorite releases of the entire LS. and this looks to be heading the same direction……i hope.
Its an introduction for the whole story arc, just like the first update in the Flame and Frost story arc didn’t give you anything to do other than fixing signs.
Flame and Frost didn’t get any better after that, I have my doubts about this as well.
What game have you been playing? It improved a lot over the course of the story, and then the end-story dungeon to F&F wound up being one of the most popular additions we have had since launch.
I’ve participated in a Teq kill about 80 times and all I’ve ever gotten are a few exotics. I keep hoping for the ascended box, but I have not been so lucky yet. As I will never, ever craft an ascended or legendary anything (because I hate grinding), I see this as the only way I will ever have an ascended item.
sadly fighting him over and over can only become grinding in it self which is far less tangible than crafting.
it goes hand to hand with the games quality
Your personal opinion of the games quality is not justification to be rude and hateful on the forums. It says a lot that you would even attempt to justify the general behavior at all.
its the truth. when people dont like something they complain and get angry. now you can say that happens even when games are good because you cant please everyone, but the way the complains are increasing, in my opinion, is because this game isnt getting any better.
i share this sentiment to a degree, arena net has made good strides in making the game better, more fun to play and rewarding also but its not sufficient enough yet and honestly a lot more needs to change in order for it to be sufficiently good enough.
