Wow …. no MMO is ever finished. They are all “filled with half-finished projects” They all change their minds about to add or not or change direction. It’s the nature of a game that is always being added to.
not really, alot of MMO games do finish MAJOR CORE FEATURES. much of GW2’s primary features have been abandoned or left idle far too long with no development of essential changes.
I have been in this game since launch in 2012 and it was always my understanding that legendary weapons were both an essential feature of GW2’s character progression system and endgame content. Intimately tied to every aspect of the game as a whole.
now that development has stopped on legendary weapons I have no idea what a player like me, who has all the skins I’m interested in and ascended gear is supposed to do.
If the ultimate goal of new legendary weapons doesn’t exist why should I ever leave lions arch? or see new content? or even continue playing? I haven’t played alot lately as most of the rewards and items we get are effectively junk items to me and gold is virtually useless. heck the gem store items have even been pretty stale these last few months. this is so incredibly serious and I think the game will ultimately suffer for this new living world or not.
I was just about to make a post about this
My Herald, Milaje, flanked by Artemis (Daredevil) and Thandric (Ranger). I was planning on waiting until I got the Mistward Plate chestpiece before sharing, but given how long it’s taking me to level masteries… that might be a while. -_-;
#squad
how did you get all three characters in one shot like that?
QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ
my burn guard is more powerful than a DH.
seem like the point of the thread has been derailed lol. I was merely asking if there any fellow pvp players who haven’t really felt the sting of so called OP builds to harshly.
Looking at your post history I clearly see Druid everywhere.
I that suppose to be some kind of dig? I already said I’ve been playing the new specs and the old ones. and before you make any accusations I’ve been playing Marauder druid and ranger and not playing healer and still having a good time of it.
Who hasn’t had a single problem fighting against any of the new specs in the game? I have pretty much been playing all of the same builds I was before along with new elite spec ones and not once has a DH or Revenant or Chronomancer or anything really given me any noticeable trouble. like sometimes they get the drop on me but most of the time its a close fight or I win. I don’t actually feel the overpoweredness every one claims is rampant and for the most part over the last three years I rarely have.
sounds like you just need to git gud kid. no but seriously elite specs aren’t the end all be all they are about on par with some of the original builds they have made redundant or outright inferior to some original play styles.
Its starting to feel like a failed concept. Energy costs are trivial when the skills I want to use are on CD anyway.
I was just comparing what they offer in terms of supporting and dealing damage in a teamfight, and cele tempest just works better than a druid if you build it right, and I’ll be free to explain more seperately so we don’t go too offtopic. Personally I think that marauder’s support would be too low with the numbers you’d get on staff, making it an infeccient weapon choice with that stat spread. Longbow damage is great as always, especially with the mightstacking, but I just don’t see the point of running druid if you aren’t going to focus at least partially on healing power, which as I’ve stated is hard to do due to crappy amulet choices. Note I’m not praising celestial druid either, but I just feel like its too hard to focus on both damage and healing at the same time, so I don’t really know what to make of it.
Near light mind telling me what kind of build you run on tempest? its been pretty hard finding the right balance of survival and dmg for me and I could really use some tips or a good template.
they should remove the toughness and up the vitality if anything though I’m not gonna lie ive been waiting for an amulet like this for a while. they should just add zealots already and maybe not so many tank oriented healing amulets.
Edit, I assume it’ll pick up a glow when infused right?
From what i understand, it’s a multitier gear, like the original capacitor, bladed backpack and mawdrey. What’s in the wardrobe might just be the first tier.
Look at the achievement tracks there is a collection for some higher version of Ad infinitum.
I smash other revenants on my druid……… Revenants aren’t that bad in my view
Hey all. I’m a three year vet player looking for a new and active guild on the tarnished coast to get involved with for HOT. I have an interest in engaging in Raids and regular SPVP. If you’re a guild on Tarnished coast feel free to post here or message me in game.
Hey guys just got home from work. did anyone come up with any good pvp builds for the druid that they would suggest so that I can make this most of my relatively short play time?
In almost every game I can I play some character that at least has a way to heal allies. I usually favour honest to goodness healers if the game has them. I just find it satisfying to watch the tide of a fight turn as I give my team such a ridiculous advantage with the amount of effective health they have thanks to me. I also love the feeling (and the praise) I get when I punt someone out of danger and juuussst save them from what surely would have been their doom.
So please explain, why do so many people find it so much less satisfying bringing health bars up than they do tearing them down? As a healer main I just don’t get it. :/
In this game I suppose the merits of being a healer is that everybody else can spec far more offensively and use their blasts for might generation instead of healing. Having someone to heal the entire team lets everyone else focus on entirely on DPS. If healers turn out good, and needed, maybe that’d be the meta. One healer to allow everyone else to do their own thing.
Edit: It seems that my question isn’t coming through clearly. I’m not asking why people don’t like the Druid, or why people don’t go for healing in GW2 specifically. I want to know what it is about the healer playstyle that so many people don’t like in a lot of different games. When you say “I don’t like playing a healer” what don’t you like? Why isn’t it as fun as any other role to you personally? Hope this clears things up.
I think the main problem people have (not myself though, I am excited about a strong heal-oriented role) is that they are basing the druid play on currently available content and the small bit we know of the expansion. They fail to realize that if there was no role to fill, or no place in the game for druid healing, the devs would not have introduced it because it would just make their job harder. I forsee there being types of encounters coming where there will be unavoidable hits that are not OHKO’s (which imo are bad design anyway- reliance on one shots does not make an exciting encounter at all) and a strong healing class will help bridge the gap left after damage mitigation cannot stop the hits. They also fail to realize druid is not a pure healer. Most of its attacks still do damage, and we have no stat combo in the game that is 100% heal oriented. they all still contain some damage modifier. Now I can still understand why some people feel a little sore about so much healing. On paper it might seem that more control effects and damage mitigation would fit a support specialization better, but there are far too many control and mitigation options already, and not enough strong heals to fill that gap where mitigation cannot help you. This is the scope everyone is failing to see. And I understand too, not many people want a healing role. Even in games where you have a trinity not everyone likes healing. That’s fine, but since this specialization offers mostly heal support, if that is not to your taste, do not take it. This will not be the last specialization druid offers. It’s also not the only build you can make with druid either.
tl;dr Not everyone likes healing. This is not something new. Players feel shoehorned into healing with druid, which is not true. Druid has other builds. They fail to see the scope of why healing will be needed and only think “zomg why do we have a trinity system now”, which also is not true.
I agree. also not sure what amulet they were using in that conference demo because solar beam seemed to hit like a truck.
What’s wrong with healers? Nothing. What’s wrong with rangers being healers? Quite a few things.
the point of elite specs was to give professions play styles that they didn’t have access to before.
The point of elite specs was to allow professions to expand in different ways that still suited the class. Guardians being ranger-wannabes and rangers being monk/guardian-wannabes doesn’t make sense and it never will. Hypothetically, a “monk” specialization which turned guardians into backline supporters would be a fitting elite specialization. To use an existing example, reapers are quite like this too. They allow necromancers to do what they usually do (debuffing/damage) except at close-range (with an emphasis on chill and cleaving).
https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/game/#specializations read it. elite specs just need to fit theme of your base profession but the play style and mechanic can be focused in any direction.
Please explain in detail, how Druid fit in any of ranger’s theme?
Glyphs?
Holy celestial being?
Pets?
Healing?
I see none.
You have an entire trait line called nature magic and you summon elemental spirits as well as healing springs of water. you even call fourth vines from the ground to entangle foes and a skill called “Spirit of Nature”…… I truly hope you are just trolling me right now.

No one made a Ranger to be a healer. NO ONE. No one invested hours or days of their life into building up a ranger so that it can be a healer. This is just a fact. No one did. It was not even an option. And we were okay with that.
This line of reasoning is nonsense. no one made a ranger to be healer because it didn’t use to exist….
It exist in Ele, and believed to exist in Guardian initially.
People who would like to play “HEALER” would initially sign up for Guardian 100% of the time base on class description and theme. (For those who don’t know the game well enough that is)
the point of elite specs was to give professions play styles that they didn’t have access to before. no one made a guardian to use bows and traps but that doesn’t have a thing to do with the class variations elite specs intend to provide. if you want to play a ranger you play a ranger, if you want to play a ranger that can heal you play a druid.

for this day onward I shall refer to the tongue boss as the taste beast and the shield he drops is now known as the shield of many tastes.
1)Druid
2)Herald
3)Chronomancer
4)Reaper
5)Scrapper
6)Berserker
7)Daredevil
8)Tempest
9)Human feces
10)Garbage juice
11)Dragon hunter
probably the best elite spec I have seen, it took the top spot on my list.
Ventari could be off healing support or perhaps just go tank or dps I know I will.
I have shelved my guardian after Revenant elite and now druid has made sure he will never be used again lol.
Either they rework Dragon Hunter entirely or work very kitten the next elite spec, because it’s currently the worst one by far, I can’t see where it’s good outside of WvW zergs…
Yeah DH is an example of the elite spec system done wrong. Druid is probably the best example because it is a new way to play that really adds something to the core class rather than DH which takes away what makes guardians good.
I have shelved my guardian after Revenant elite and now druid has made sure he will never be used again lol.
just because other classes can spec to fill a role that one does doesn’t make your class less useful. its all about team work.
Rejoice for what? Being shafted to a healing class?
I really really HATE that type of playing style..
Extremely disappointed..
This is not the reason I play ranger…
so who’s forcing you to play druid? secondly do you see those kittening pets? REJOICE!!!!!
DRUID IS SOOOOO GOOOOD
I take it you never played a main healer in other games….
Get ready for the demanding leaders…. the stupid DPSer’s, the holier than thou tanker’s, and the smug stealther’s. All of whom think it is there job to tell you how you are doing your job wrong, because they are too idiotic to not stand in the red, or the fire, or to dodge, or to not grab aggro… or whatever other scenario you will be placed in as the defacto healer and the one responsible for all of there failings.
I played holy pally and resto druid in wow for four years sir and I loved it.
DRUID IS SOOOOO GOOOOD
Roy So I just read in another post from you that Revenants wont be able to use racial skills. so that has lead me to ask the question, is the Mistward armor set Revenant exclusive? and for that matter are elite spec armor and weapons profession exclusive as well? Roy if you’re around I would really appreciate an answer.
they should totally remove Defiant stances Cd. it only makes sense
I honestly think Glint is too strong. Having no energy consumption even on actives is just not right imo. There needs to be some. Energy is never an issue with glint, and I dont think that sits well with the rest of how the class works. You should be punished if you dont manage your energy well with Revenant and with Glint this never happens. The heal is also too strong, it needs either a better tell or a cast time.
I also seem to be the only who dislikes the Herald traits. No matter what build I make if I take herald I always end up using the same traits. Something’s really off here. Shield also isn’t great, at all.TL;DR: Glint is TOO strong. Herald and shield, not so much.
excuse me do you play Warrior? if not then allow me to educate you about an extremely worthless heal called Defiant stance. Defiant stance is just like infused light except it is a hated and UN used ability generally regarded as the worst warrior heal especially in pvp. why? well because defiant stance has a cast time and as a result is almost totally impractical to use. its a stance that’s for some ungodly reason is made vulnerable to interrupts by having a cast time. the tell on the skill alone makes it EXTREMELY EASY to counter and once its up just stop attacking and watch the warrior flounder helplessly with out a heal. so no Infused light does not need a cast time that would literally ruin the skill.
people complaining about Glint heal I find hilarious. I’ve even see people want to give it a cast time……..so because the heal is actually convenient for the Revenant player, people would rather make it as crappy as defiant stance then simply learn to stop attacking.
making alts is not technically endgame. nothing is stopping new players who aren’t 80 from making alts. also I don’t think Anet made a statement about if elite specs unlock on alts after being gained by an 80 or not yet.
ANet has not told us how we unlock them, no. For all we know, they unlock across the account or something after the first character unlocks them. It would make sense, given that part of the unlocks is a weapon and armor skin, which you’d really only need once.
Which brings up an interesting point, actually. The third traitline slot, where the elite goes, unlocks at 71. It’s only 9 levels early, but are we sure that you actually have to wait for level 80?
as far as I know the 80 only part is set in stone.
Even if they were made available at 21 (which is not that big of a coding challenge, honest) locking them behind having gotten a character of that profession to Level 80 first meets all of those needs people are putting forward. Making alts IS an endgame activity after you have an 80 of that profession and something worth encouraging to extend the life of the game and multiply the usefulness of the core maps.
The game already has (with varying degrees of success) scaling to zone. It takes some unnecessary jumping through hoops, but you already can make a character, get them through the intro instance, pop them to 80 thirty seconds after you get to a bank and pull out your tomes, and then go play through the world, but its kind of a pain in the butt when all I’m looking to do is extend the life of the content…!

you guys are kind of off topic. The point is how do u counter play a the skill when the entire team revolves around it. The mode conquest is about holding points Unyielding anguish=100% chance to cap even during full out team fight.
well its most likely a bug so I would wait before considering counterplay
What’s short sighted about “I already have an 80th level Ranger and would buy another character slot to try playing through the core maps again as a Druid.”?
Because the OP is asking for access to elite specs at level 21, which defeats the intent of arena net.

here are mine !! haven’t decide quite yet which race im gonna roll .
this is by far the coolest asura I have ever seen.
elite specs were invented for the sole purpose of ENDGAME progression. doing this would entirely defeat the purpose of even putting them in the game to begin with. this request is foolish and short sighted.
@Deth
Complete loss of reality. Wow.
no seriously. I have yet to even be threatened by another Revenants UA. I just riposting shadows or dodge. also blocks and aegis can render it useless and if a target uses stealth before hand (rangers, mesmers, thieves) it stops and goes on CD. against skilled opponents this move requires decent set up to use, you often have to make them vulnerable before hand before unloading it. for example I was dueling a necro during a match and he would just pop death shroud every time I used UA. I wasn’t able to use it to kill him until I burned off his shroud and then got it one off after a kockdown from my elite.
UA is fine. there are already so many ways to render it useless or ineffective. i’ve played TONS of matches as soon as the beta went live. UA can be gibbed so much, I dont understand why people think counter play means that a move should ALWAYS be counterable. sometimes there should just be situations where you get nuked because frankly setting it up is really hard and the pay out should be equal to the effort put in. most times before UA i use burst of strength and elemental blast just to get enough dmg going to make it even worth it to use.
(edited by Deth.4109)
also getting blinded or moving out of range makes it stop
There also might be some bug with the attack you port all over the place. I was attacked by it playing mesmer and used my portal from mid to close. The rev also portated to close and continued the attack. I dont think is supposed to be able to follow me there.
Its called unrelenting assault for a reason.
yeah roy needs to buff skill five.
Hello all. Since yesterday I’ve been testing lots of different builds for spvp. I have found one that I really like outside of Shiro/Glint that I felt would benefit some players looking for builds to try so here it is.
this one is for tanking with Glint/Jalis. it has high health and strong damage with a low ramp up. it’s meant to be played aggressively and is good in team fights and 1v1/1v2, you will also annihilate thieves and gib Mesmers as they will be unable to stealth and will die quickly to your fast and hard hits.you can also swap strength sigil for sigil of pack if you want more crit on top of your furry as well as increased swiftness uptime.
If any of you have any Spvp you would like to share please feel free to post them here so that other players looking for things to try for the Beta have a place to go an check.
